Traffic Problems Essay — Model AnswerTraffic congestion in many cities around the world is severe. One possible solution to this problem is to impose heavy taxes on car drivers and use this money to make public transport better. This essay will discuss the benefits and drawbacks of such a measure. One of the first benefits of such a measure is that the heavy taxes would discourage car owners from using their cars because it would become very expensive to drive. This would mean that they would begin to make use of public transport instead, thus reducing traffic problems and pollution as well。
Another benefit would be that much more use would be made of public transport if it was improved。
It is often the case that public transport in cities is very poor。
For example, we often see old buses and trains that people would rather not use。

雅思8分作文范文(优选八篇)5雅思8分作文范文(篇一)In many countries, the number of elderly people is increasing fast. To what extent do the disadvantages outweigh the advantages?Nowadays, owning to the improvement of living condition(这里习惯用复数), people can live much longer than before, which gives rise to the fast increasing number of elderly people. Some hold that this situation will result in a series of problems, such as social burden, population expansion and so on. While others insist that it agrees the development of modern society and brings many advantages. For my part, I take the latter side with(用for) the following reasons:(74words)点评:开头稍微写的有点长,不过内容写的还不错。
Firstly, elder people(一会儿elderly people,一会儿又elder people,这不是自相矛盾么) are the fortune of our society. They have enough experiences and capabilities which are badly lacked and needed for our youth when dealing with all sorts of problems, they can still do well in their jobs. Especially(前面应该用逗号,然后这里小写) in some professions, such as teacher, doctor, scientist and so on, sometimes (前面应该用句号,然后这里大写)age means the authority and ability. When you see a doctor, do you prefer an elderly doctor with grey hair or a youth without mustache? (77words)Secondly, elder people(同上) are the happiness of our society. Increasing number of elderly people is also the embodiment of our improving living quality, which shows our society run(应该第三人称单数)to the right and healthy direction, we(前面句号,这里大写) have more chance and time to serve our elderly people, and it’s the happiest time of all our life to accompany with(accompany是及物动词) our parents, grandparents and great grandparents. (63words)Finally, elderly people are the lubricant of our society. They have good temper and enough patients(应该是patience吧) to do anything, they can help us to intercede(它是不及物动词,而且主要用人作宾语) social disputes, and they make our society much more harmoniouswhich(前面较好有个逗号)makes for the construction of harmonious society.(43words)正文段综合点评:此篇是典型的5段式作文的写作,正文段构思出三个分论点来证明自己的观点,的确在构思上花了不少心思。
Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Others, however, believethat school is the place to learn this.Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Children's education has long been our concern since Plato once uttered, "Education is where a country should start at." However, it is still a controversial issue after all these years among people who are particularly concerned about it. Some people believe that it is parents' responsibility to cultivate their kids to be fully aware of what a social being should look like; others, whereas, argue that schools should take over this for the ultimate goal. In this essay, I would put this issue in question and further analyse both sides before presenting my personal perspective. On one hand, parents, as the first touchers of their kids, should ___ them how to differentiate right from wrong. Given the time parents spend with their kids, they can be more likely to observe everyday change of their children. As a result of this, they are aountable for how their children normally behave in reality. More importantly, considering the fact that people aording to their social being are usually placed into diverse norms, parents, as a family, as a part of munity and asindividuals in the society, should appropriately behave in action so as to deliver a message to their kids in which what should be respected and cherished in lives is highly highlighted. On the other hand, academic institutions should take the responsibility for educating students to be entirely ready to enter the society. After leaving parents for schools, kids almost devote their most prime time at schools with their peels, their friends and their teachers; therefore, schools ought to put much emphasis on their growth as a person. Consequently, students could learn what they cannotacquire from home, such as municative skills, understanding of various cultures etc. From what was previously well stated, my point of view can be generated that parental education should be highly cooperated with formal education in the process of achild's growth. What contribute to a person to bee anentity are interpersonal skills and intrapersonal qualities; however, as for the parental education and formal education, the ultimate goal of a person which is to be taught to be a proper member of society cannot be fulfilled without either one of these.

Title: The Role of Social Media in Modern SocietySocial media has become an integral part of our daily lives, with millions of people logging on each day to keep up with their friends, the news, and their favorite brands. In this essay, I will explore the impact that social media has had on modern society, and what role it plays in our lives today. One of the most significant benefits of social media is the ability to connect people from all over the world. This interconnectedness has facilitated the growth of online communities, allowing individuals to share ideas and information on a global scale. Social media has also given us the ability to network professionally, allowing us to connect to potential employers, mentors, and business partners. However, social media has also had some detrimental effects on society. One of the most concerning is the rise of cyberbullying. Social media has made it easier than ever for anonymous individuals to harass and threaten others online. This type of abuse is particularly damaging because it can quickly spread to a large audience and can be difficult to remove or control once it has been posted.Another issue that social media has caused is the spread of misinformation. As anyone can post anything online, false information can quickly spread and become accepted as fact, leading to confusion and even harm. It’s important that individualsdon’t just accept everything they see online, and instead take the time to verify information from reputable sources.Despite these risks, the benefits of social media in modern society far outweigh the negatives. It has revolutionized the way we communicate, and has allowed us to connect with people in ways that were once impossible. Social media has also allowed us to keep up with the latest news, participate in online discussions, and even mobilize for political action. In conclusion, social media is a powerful tool that has had a significant impact on our lives. While it can be misused, it has the potential to bring people together and foster positive change in the world. To make the most of social media, it’s important that we use it responsibly and critically evaluate the information we encounter online. Title: The Benefits of TravelingTraveling is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and it offers a wide range of benefits for individuals and society as a whole. In this essay, I will explore some of the many benefits of traveling and why it is an important part of our lives.Firstly, traveling provides us with the opportunity to explore new cultures and learn about the world. It allows us to experience different languages, customs, and traditions, and gain a newfoundappreciation for diversity. By experiencing new cultures, we can broaden our horizons and develop a more sophisticated understanding of the world around us.Secondly, traveling can be a great way to improve our mental health. Studies have shown that taking time away from our daily routine and stressors can have a significant positive impact on our mental well-being. Traveling can help us to relax, reduce anxiety, and improve our mood. It also allows us to disconnect from technology and other distractions and focus on being present in the moment.Thirdly, traveling can be an excellent way to make new friends and connect with others around the world. When we travel, we are often exposed to people from different walks of life who we would not have met otherwise. This can broaden our social circle and help us build lasting relationships with others. Finally, traveling can be an important driver of economic growthin both developed and developing countries.
IELTS Writing Task 2 Sample Essay Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Others, however, believe that schoolis the place to learn this. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. The debate surrounding the responsibility of instilling good citizenship inchildren is a multifaceted one, with proponents on both sides passionately advocating for the primacy of either the family or the school environment. While parents undeniably play a crucial role in shaping a child's character and moral compass, the structured learning environment of a school offers uniqueopportunities for developing social responsibility and civic engagement. Parents, as the primary caregivers and role models, exert a profound influence on their children's early development. From a tender age, children observe and internalize the values and behaviors exhibited by their parents, learning about respect, empathy, and responsibility through daily interactions and family traditions. The home environment provides a safe and nurturing space for children to practicesocial skills, learn conflict resolution, and develop a sense of belonging withina family unit. These foundational experiences lay the groundwork for understanding the importance of cooperation and contributing to a larger community. However, the role of the school in fostering good citizenship cannot be underestimated. Schools provide a structured environment where children interact with peers from diverse backgrounds, fostering tolerance, understanding, and the ability to navigate social differences. Curriculum incorporating civic education, community service projects, and extracurricular activities like student government provide practical opportunities for students to apply their knowledge, develop leadership skills, and actively participate in their communities. This hands-on experience, coupled with guidance from educators, equips students with a deeper understanding of their rights and responsibilities as citizens. Moreover, schools offer a broader perspective beyond the immediate family circle. Exposure to historical events, different cultures, and global issues through classroom discussions and educational resources encourages critical thinking and develops informed perspectives on societal challenges. The emphasis on collaboration and teamwork in school projects promotes a sense of collective responsibility, highlighting theinterconnectedness of individual actions and their impact on the wider community. It is crucial to acknowledge that the responsibility for nurturing responsible citizens does not solely rest with either parents or schools but necessitates a collaborative approach. Open communication and partnership between families and educational institutions can create a synergistic environment where valuesinstilled at home are reinforced and broadened within the school setting. Parents can actively engage with their children's education, supporting their involvement in school activities and reinforcing the importance of civic participation. Ultimately, both parents and schools share the vital responsibility of shaping young minds and instilling values of good citizenship. While the home environment provides the foundation for character development, schools offer a structured platform for expanding social awareness, developing civic skills, and fostering a sense of responsibility towards the community and the world at large. A collaborative effort between these two crucial influences is paramount to ensure that future generations are equipped to contribute meaningfully to society.。

I believe that technology has both positive and negative effects on our lives. On one hand, technology has greatly improved our lives in many ways. For example, the invention of the internet has revolutionized the way we communicate and access information. We can now easily connect with people from all over the world through social media platforms and instant messaging apps. This has madeit easier for us to stay in touch with friends and family, and has also opened up new opportunities for business and education.Furthermore, technology has made our lives more convenient. We can now shop online and have products delivered right to our doorstep. We can also use various apps to order food, book a taxi, or find the nearest restaurant. This saves us time and effort, and allows us to focus on other important tasks. However, technology also has its drawbacks. One of the biggest concerns is the impact it has on our mental and physical health. Many people spend excessive amounts oftime on their phones or computers, which can lead to issues such as eye strain, sleep deprivation, and social isolation. Moreover, the constant exposure to social media can have a negative effect on our self-esteem and mental well-being.It is important to find a balance and use technology in moderation.
Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems as well as practical problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?-----------------------------范文1-------------------------These days, there are a lot of people who need to go to study or work overseas. This is the reason why some people think that dwelling in a foreign nation where they have to communicate in a foreign language is responsible for many challenges. I personally agree with the idea for many reasons, described in the following paragraph. The major reason that I agree that living in a foreign country can cause some problems is that folk can experience some culture shock. In other words, each country has its own customs. As a result, If individuals live in a foreign country, they will have to accept any culture that they are unfamiliar with. Moreover, folk cannot comprehend what local people attempt to communicate. To illustrate, If citizens from the United State of America travel to the United Kingdom, they may not understand the British accent. As a consequence, they will not able to communicate withlocal British citizens. In addition, individuals cannot change their behaviour. For example, when Thai citizens go to Canada which is in a different time zone to Thailand, they may have some health problems because they cannot alter their sleeping time. On top of that, individuals cannot eat local foods. That is to say, folk who have to live in a foreign nation may think that local foreign foods are strange for them.To summarize, there are tremendous reasons that residing in a country where folk have to speak a foreign language can cause many problems, and I strongly agree with this notion.------------------------范文2---------------------It is said that, in a country where speaking a foreign language is compulsory, immigrants are faced with various problems in society. I strongly agree with this statement because of some main reasons.Firstly, speaking a country language would help people to communicate with local dwellers. Communication not only helps foreigners to make friends but also expand their social life. In the other word, lack of friendship lead to feeling loneliness. For instance, a person living in a new country, when attending a party is less likely to experience joyfulmoments as a result, he could not understand completely what others talk about so that, he fails to participate in their discussion. Hence speaking a local language play an important role in socializing.Secondly, it is undeniable fact that speaking a foreign language has essential effects on daily life. In fact, in several situations during a day without knowing the language of that area one probably would get in trouble. To illustrate it, when a person goes shopping and cannot explain the specific products which he wants so the seller may make a mistake and give him the wrong goods. Therefore, immigrants have to learn the language of their destination country to live easily and do their work in the best way. Some may argue that in overseas one can speak with own language and translate it with some applications to convey his requests, while in this way it would be really arduous that local accept them in their community. In conclusion, I believe conversation skills with foreign languages contribute to creating close-knit relationships for communication and do other tasks that are necessary for living properly.-------------------------范文3--------------------As we all know, living in a foreign country and dealing with new people is not plain sailing. Surviving in a place where a different language isspoken will not be easy even if you are fluent in that language. So, I agree that one has to face so many social problems as well as practical problems. In this essay, I will dig into some of the issues why it is not that simple to live in a foreign country. The very first thing one has to encounter is the language barrier. The different dialects will surely make you have trouble. Moreover, even buying things from a store will not be easy if you do not understand their accent. Another problem comes from communication with the local dwellers. For example, the local people invite you to a party, but you cannot make new friends because of the language barrier while the others are having fun. Also, you will not get a chance to have conversations with your neighbors. Since you live in a new place you need to widen your social circle so you must be fluent in the language of the country that he intends to move to.In addition, coping with new cultures is another challenging thing. Every country has different religions and manners, so we need to struggle a lot to fit in. If we cannot communicate, we will not get the opportunity to learn about their cultures and we will not settle in their community. The consequences of this are loneliness along with no friends and low socializing. For instance, when I travelled to Spain for business eventhough it was just a week, I felt so alone because I had no one to speak to or hang out with. I cannot imagine myself living there for extra weeks without even knowing a word. These are the detrimental effects of living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language.Taking everything into consideration, although we cannot deny that there are so many problems in migrating to a different country, we can solve these problems with the help of language. Also, as time goes by, we will be used to these problems.。

Trade and travel would be a lot easier with a single, global currency that we all use.Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Would a single currency cause any problems? It is clear to me that the idea of a single global currency is an excellent ideal to work towards. There can be no doubt that trade and travel would be vastly easier. On the other hand I believe that it would cause problems today. The benefits of a single currency can be seen with the use in Europe of the Euro. Whenever you are travelling between countries using the Euro, the problems of currency changing and exchange rates are history. Similarly business between countries using the Euros is so much easier; no more worrying about exchange rate risk and pricing. Everyon e‛s money is the same. The same thing is true with the US dollar. Most countries do not use the US dollar but it is accepted in many places. There are many countries that you can travel to and just take US dollars to use.At present though a global currency would be impossible. Firstly most countries would not accept the idea. Secondly all countries are in different economic states. Some are economically very strong and some are in a state of collapse with inflation ruining the economy. Such countries could not be brought into a world currency as it would cause massive financial instability worldwide. So it is clear that a global currency would indeed cause some serious problems. So, in conclusion I see a global currency as a future ideal but it will not happen in my lifetime. It would make trade and travel much easier but the problems it would cause nowadays would be insurmountable.

Happiness is considered very important in life. Why is it difficult to define? What factors are important in achieving happiness?lt is no doubt true that the majority of people would like tobe happy in their lives. While the personal nature of happiness makes it difficult to describe, there do seem to besome common needs that we all share with regard to e*periencing or achieving happiness.Happiness is difficult to define because it means something different to each individual person. Nobody can fully understand or e*perience another persons feelings, and we all have our own particular passions from which we take pleasure. Some people, for e*ample, derive a sense of satisfaction from earning money or achieving success, whereas for others, health and family are much more important. At the same time, a range of other feelings, from e*citement to peacefulness, may be associated with the idea of happiness, and the same person may therefore feel happy in a variety of different ways.Although it seems almost impossible to give a precise definition of happiness, most people would agree that there are some basic preconditions to achieving it. Firstly, it is hardfor a person to be happy if he or she does not have a safe place to live and enough food to eat. Our basic survival needs must surely be met before we can lead a pleasant life.Secondly, the greatest joy in life is usually found in shared e*periences with family and friends, and it is rare to find a person who is content tolive in complete isolation. Other key factors could be individual freedom and a sense of purpose in life.ln conclusion, happiness is difficult to define because it is particular to each individual, but l believe that our basic needs for shelter, food and company need to be fulfilled before we can e*perience it.2. E*plain some of the ways in which humans are damagingthe environment. What can governments do to addressthese problems? What can individual people do? Humans are responsible for a variety of environmental problems, but we can also take steps to reduce the damage that we are causing to the planet. This essay will discuss environmental problems and the measures that governments and individuals can take to address these problems. Two of the biggest threats to the environment are air pollution and waste. Gas emissions from factories and e*haust fumes from vehicles lead to global warming, which may have a devastating effect on the planet in the future. As the human population increases, we are also producing ever greater quantities of waste, which contaminates the earth and pollutes rivers and oceans.Governments could certainly make more effort to reduce air pollution. They could introduce laws to limit emissions from factories or to force companies to use renewable energy from solar, wind or water power. They could also impose green ta*es on drivers and airline companies. In this way, people would beencouraged to use public transport and to take fewer flights abroad, therefore reducing emissions.Individuals should also take responsibility for the impact they have on the environment. They can take public transport rather than driving, choose products with less packaging, and recycle as much as possible. Most supermarkets now provide reusable bags for shoppers as well as banks for recycling glass, plastic and paper in their car parks. By reusing and recycling, we can help to reduce waste. In conclusion, both national governments and individuals must play their part in looking after the environment.3. Some people believe that hobbies need to be difficult tobe enjoyable. To what e*tent do you agree or disagree?
Sample Answer 1:The given graph presents information on a variety of reasons that tend to impact job performance and it is divided by differentiating between two age categories of 18-30 years and 45-60 years. The data sample(=results of survey)is collected from a personnel department at a big company. As is presented as a result of a survey in the given bar chart, for the both age group of 18-30 and 45-60, team spirit affects work performance equivalently and that is little over 60%. The reason ' chance for personal development' works for the younger age group about 90% which is more than twice than the older age group.(younger, older用比较级来说两个组,age不漏) The similar scenario is true for the relaxing environment too and this reason affects more than 80% to the 18-30 age group workers and about only 30% to the 45-60 years workers. About 45% younger workers' work performance is affected by the job security compared to little over 20% older workers. The only case where 45-60 years workers are influenced more than (被动的使用)their younger counterpart is 'respect from colleagues' which is about 50% for this age group workers in contrast to 40% (approximately ) for t he 15-30 years age group. Promotional prospects is a reason that drive younger employees to work better and this reason affects 80% younger workers compared to almost45% aged job holders. For the lower age group job satisfaction, work environment & money affects their job performance about 50%, 30% & about 75% consecutively compared to about 45%, 30% and 70% of 45-60 years job holders. In short , workers job performance are highly affected by chance for personal development, team spirit, promotion prospects, job satisfaction andsalary.(Approximately 249 words)Model Answer 2:Firstly, the graph shows that 90% value personal development between the age ranges of 18-30; followed by comfortable work environment and promotional prospects at an 80%.Secondly, the age range of 45- 60 are motivated by monetary aspects as 70% of the mentioned age group seem to perform better in this category. Thereafter, the particular age group values team spirit as 60% of the age range is provided in the graph chose this category after money. However, though each group varied on their factors affecting their work performance, both age groups were highly motivated and at par by team spirit (60%) and Money (70%- 74%).。

Academic writing: Task 2Topic: UpbringingYou should spend about 40 minutes on this task.Write about the following topic:Children who are brought up in families that do not have large amounts ofmoney are better prepared to deal with the problems of adult life than childrenbrought up by wealthy parents. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least 250 words.I do agree to the statement that …children brought up in poor families are better prepared to deal with the problems of adult life than children brought up by wealthy parents‟.Children of poor parents are prematurely exposed to the problems of adult life eg. Learning to survive on a low family income and sacrificing luxuries for essential items. These children begin to see the …realities‟ of life in their home or social environment. Their parents‟ own struggles serve as an example to them. These children are taught necessary skills for survival as an adult from a very early age. Many children eg work in the weekends or holidays to either collect some pocket money or even contribute to their families‟ income. A good example is that many children who accompany their parents to sell produce at the market. They are working a direct contribution to their families in terms of labor or income.Children of poor families also are highly motivated. They tend to …set high goals to improve their economic and social situation. A relevant example would be Mr. Bill Gates (founder of Microsoft Corporation) He had an impoverished background but he used his talents and motivation to set up the world‟s largest computer organization. However, there are some problems that children from poor backgrounds do encounter. Many of these children who are “robbed” of their childhood eg whle working may feel cheated. They often turn to crime. This however, is a small group. In summing up, children with impoverished backgrounds are able to deal with problems of adult life because of early exposure, family role models and shear motivation.Examiner comments (bandscore 8)The topic is very well addressed and the position is clear throughout. Main ideas are presented and well supported, apart from some over-generalisation in the penultimate paragraph. The rubric is copied in the opening paragraph, but when this is deducted from the overall word count, the response is not underlength. The ideas and information are very well organized and paragraphing is used appropriately throughout. The answer can be read with ease due to the sophisticated handling of cohesive devices—only the lack of an appropriate introduction and the minor error in the second use of …eg‟ mars this aspect of response. The writer uses a wide and very natural range of vocabulary with full flexibility. There are many examples of appropriate modification, collocation and precise vocabulary choice. Syntax is equally varied and sophisticated. There are only occasional errors in an otherwise very accurate answer.Overall this performance is a good example of Band 8.。
