为什么想去澳大利亚旅游英语作文Why I Want to Visit AustraliaAustralia has been a dream destination for me ever since I first learned about it in school. There are so many amazing and unique things about this country that make me desperately want to go there. Let me tell you all about the reasons why I am absolutely obsessed with Australia and yearn to visit one day!First of all, Australia is home to some of the most incredible animals on the entire planet. The animals there are like nowhere else in the world. Can you imagine getting to see a kangaroo hop across the road right in front of you? Or watching a koala munching on eucalyptus leaves up in a tree? How cool would it be to spot one of those super venomous but pretty cute platypuses swimming in a river? Australia has all these crazy critters and so many more. I've seen them in pictures and videos, but nothing compares to witnessing them with your own eyes in their natural habitats.Speaking of nature, the landscapes in Australia look just breathtaking. The famous Outback dessert with its bright red sands stretching out as far as the eye can see must be such an incredible sight. I want to see the massively tall ancient rockformations like Uluru up close. And then there are the beaches - bright blue ocean waters lapping against pure white sand beaches. Places like Bondi Beach near Sydney look like paradise to me. Australia has every type of landscape you can dream of - deserts, rainforests, mountains, beaches, you name it!Another huge reason I'm dying to go to Australia is to learn about and experience Aboriginal culture first-hand. The Aboriginal people are the native inhabitants of Australia, and their culture and traditions date back over 60,000 years, making it one of the oldest surviving cultures on Earth. From the Aboriginal art and music to their dreamtime stories and bush survival skills, I'm incredibly fascinated by it all. I really want to visit an Aboriginal community and learn directly from Aboriginal people about their way of life.I'm also really intrigued by Australia's unique history as a former British colony. It was one of the first colonies where the British sent convicts and other prisoners to be exiled from the late 1700s up until the mid 1800s. Because of this, Australia has some very interesting historical sites like former prisons and old sailor towns that I'd love to explore. Learning about the struggles of the first European settlers and the conflicts with Aboriginalgroups as the colonists took over more land will definitely give me a better understanding of Australia's complex past.Let's not forget that Australia is home to someworld-famous landmarks that I've only seen in pictures and movies so far. The Sydney Opera House with its huge white roof shells looks so iconic and beautiful - I really hope I get to see it up close and in person one day. I've dreamed of climbing up the Sydney Harbour Bridge and getting incredible views of the city skyline and harbor. The Great Barrier Reef off the coast is the largest coral reef system on the entire planet, and being able to go snorkeling or scuba diving to see the incredibly vibrant underworld of marine life there would be unforgettable.Besides all the amazing sights and experiences, I also want to go to Australia because it seems like a super fun and laid back country with really friendly people. Australians always seem so cheerful and have a great sense of humor from what I've seen on TV shows and from Australians I've met. They have cool slang words like "g'day mate" and seem to just love having a good time. I've heard Sydney is an awesome city for live music, sporting events, festivals, and just hanging out at sidewalk cafes. The more relaxed lifestyle focused on enjoying the greatoutdoors is so different from our life here and seems very appealing.I should probably also mention that the weather and climate in Australia look amazing! While we have really hot summers and freezing cold winters where I live, Australia is mainly a warm sunny place year-round. Getting away from the brutal snowstorms we get every winter to soak up the sunshine on an Australian beach sounds like a little slice of heaven to me.Can you see why Australia has captured my heart and imagination so much? From the one-of-a-kind animals to the spectacular natural scenery to the fascinating Aboriginal culture to the interesting colonial history to the iconic landmarks and fun, laidback lifestyle, there is just so much I want to experience for myself in this remarkable country. Australia feels like a whole other world from my home. I can't wait for the day when I finally get to hop on a airplane and make the long journey across the ocean to the island continent of Australia. Getting to explore the Land Down Under will be a dream come true for me! I have so many places I want to go and things I want to see and do there. Just writing about it makes me even more eager to start planning my big Australian adventure.。

计划去澳大利亚旅游英语作文100词

计划去澳大利亚旅游英语作文100词全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Dream Trip to Australia!Hi there! I'm a 10-year-old kid who really wants to go to Australia one day. Australia seems like the coolest country ever and I've been dreaming about visiting it for years now. Let me tell you all about the amazing trip I want to take!First off, I'd love to see all the incredible animals in Australia. At the top of my list are kangaroos! How awesome would it be to see a real-life kangaroo just hopping around? I've seen them at the zoo before but it's not the same as seeing them in the wild in their natural habitat. I also really want to see a wombat. Wombats are THE cutest animals. They're like little furry bricks that waddle around and I just want to hug one! Oh, and I can't forget about koalas. Koalas are so sleepy and huggable. I could probably watch koalas sleeping in eucalyptus trees all day.Other than the amazing animals, I'm really excited to experience some of Australia's natural wonders. The Great Barrier Reef is definitely at the top of my list. I took a snorkelingclass last summer and I'm dying to test out my new skills at the Great Barrier Reef. Can you imagine swimming around and seeing all those bright, colorful fish and coral? It would be like being in a real-life aquarium! I also really want to see Uluru, that gigantic red rock that sticks straight up out of the ground in the middle of the Outback desert. It looks like something from another planet. And how about the Twelve Apostles? Those big rock formations sticking out of the ocean along the Great Ocean Road look crazy cool.Speaking of the Outback, I'd love to go on a safari or camping trip out in the Australian desert. Sleeping under the stars, roasting marshmallows over a campfire, and looking up at the gigantic night sky full of more stars than I've ever seen would be an incredible experience. Maybe we'd even spot a dingo or a deadly snake slithering around! Ok, the snake part would be terrifying but also kind of thrilling. Don't worry, I'd be extremely careful.I'm also really fascinated by Aboriginal culture and history. I'd love to visit some Aboriginal cultural centers and learn about their ancient traditions, arts, and way of life. It's so interesting how their culture has survived for over 60,000 years! I'd also really like to see Aboriginal artwork, music, and danceperformances. Oh, and I definitely want to learn about things like the Aboriginal dream time stories. As much as I want to explore the amazing nature in Australia, I'm also really excited about visiting the big cities like Sydney and Melbourne. Sydney seems like such a fun, vibrant city. I could spend days just walking around the Sydney Opera House and climbing up the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I'd also love to just relax on one of Sydney's beautiful beaches like Bondi Beach. Melbourne seems like it has a really cool, artsy vibe which I'm into. Maybe we could check out quirky lanes with street art and funky cafes and bars. Yum, I'm drooling just thinking about trying legit Australian coffee and desserts! No trip down under would be complete without trying authentic Aussie foods like vegemite (I've heard it's a bit of an acquired taste), meat pies, pavlova, and of course, Tim Tams! I'm also going to have to get my hands on a whole bag of Darrell Lea licorice. Australian licorice is supposed to be out of this world. And let's not forget about sampling unique treats like witchetty grubs, crocodile, and kangaroo! My parents might not let me eat those last few but hey, I can try!I really hope my family can take me to Australia in the next few years before I get too old and uncool to enjoy a fun familyvacation. We'd probably want to go during the Australian summer which is from December to February so we can take advantage of the warm weather. It would be awesome if we could even spend Christmas in Australia one year! That would be a Christmas I'd never forget.Well, those are just some of the highlights of my dream Australia trip. There's still so much more I'm leaving out like touring the Guinness book of World Records museum, sailing around the Whitsunday Islands, and visiting movie sites from some of my favorite Australian films. I could seriously go on forever! Australia is just篇2I Can't Wait to Go to Australia!Australia has always seemed like such an exciting and fascinating place to me. Ever since I was a little kid, I've been obsessed with learning about the unique animals that live there like kangaroos, koalas, and platypuses. I used to check out every book about Australia from the library and read them cover to cover. Now that I'm a bit older, I finally get to make my dream of visiting Australia a reality! My family is planning an amazing three-week trip this summer to explore the land down under. We're going to visit so many incredible places - Sydney, Melbourne, the Great Barrier Reef, the Outback, and more. I can hardly contain my excitement!Sydney is going to be our first stop. I'm really looking forward to seeing the famous Sydney Opera House and climbing up the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. It's going to be so cool getting a bird's eye view of the whole city and picturesque harbor. We're also going to visit Taronga Zoo to see Aussie critters like kangaroos, wombats, and echidnas up close. After Sydney, we'll take a short flight down to Melbourne. I've heard Melbourne is a really cool, artsy city with amazing street art and music scenes. I definitely want to check out some of the laneways filled with brilliant graffiti. We're also going to drive out to see the Twelve Apostles, those huge rock formations jutting out of the ocean. They look unreal in pictures, so I can't imagine how breathtaking they'll be in person. Then it's off to Queensland to explore the Great Barrier Reef! We're going to go scuba diving and snorkeling to see the incredibly vibrant coral and marine life up close. I'm a little nervous about swimming with sharks, but my parents assure me it will be totally safe. I really hope we spot a massive whale shark- those things are like gentle giants! The Reef is one of the seven natural wonders of the world, so I feel really fortunate to get to experience its magic. No trip to Australia would be complete without a journey into the iconic Outback. We're going on a multi-day camping excursion into the remote desert interior. I've never been camping before, so I'm a little anxious about not having a bathroom or shower and sleeping outdoors. But I know it's going to be an adventure I'll never forget. We're going to learn about the ancient culture of the Aboriginal people, go on a guided hike through the rugged landscape, and worst of all - I'm not looking forward to this part - we have to eat witchetty grubs! Those are hugefatty grubs that the Aboriginal people eat as a food source. Just thinking about putting one of those wriggly things in my mouth makes me want to barf. My parents better not try to trick me into eating one as a joke!I'm sure we'll have many more amazing experiences that I can't even imagine yet. I'll get to check so many cool things off my Australian bucket list - seeing a kangaroo in the wild, holding a koala, watching a breathtaking sunset over Uluru, stargazing without light pollution, and more. This is guaranteed to be the most epic family vacation ever!Packing for a trip this long and adventurous is going to be a huge challenge. I need to make sure I have all the right clothing, hiking gear, beach supplies, you name it. I'm a little worried I'm going to overpack and end up with a massive heavy suitcase I can barely carry. That's happened before on family trips, and it's really not fun lugging around a ton of unnecessary stuff. I'm going to have to plan ahead and pack strategically.I've already started doing research on what to bring and making lists. I'll need lightweight hiking clothes that dry quickly for the Outback portion. Definitely packing moisture-wicking shirts, zip-off pants that can convert to shorts, thick socks, broken-in hiking boots, and a wide-brimmed hat to keep the brutal sun off my face and neck. For swimming and beachwear, I'll need rash guards, swim trunks, reef-safe sunscreen, flip flops, a beach towel, and a dry bag to keep my things safe. I'm ordering an underwater camera so I can take pics while snorkeling. Oh, and I can't forget the all-important souvenir money! I definitely want to bring home some cool Aussie keepsakes and gifts for my friends.Aside from the actual packing, I also have to mentally and physically prepare myself for such a long, adventurous trip. I'm making sure to do lots of walking and hiking in the weeksleading up to build up my endurance. The last thing I want is to be huffing and puffing and holding everyone back because I'm篇3Planning an Adventure Down Under!Wow, Australia! The land of kangaroos, koalas, and the Great Barrier Reef. I can hardly believe Mom and Dad said we're going there for our next big family vacation. It's going to be so awesome!First things first, we need to plan what to pack. Australia is pretty far away, so we'll be on an airplane for a really long time. That means we'll need to bring lots of snacks, books, games, and things to keep us busy. I've heard the in-flight movies can be pretty boring sometimes. Maybe I'll download some new games on my tablet before we go.Once we get to Australia, we're going to start our trip in Sydney. I can't wait to see the famous Sydney Opera House and climb to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge! I hope Mom and Dad let me do the bridge climb. It looks so cool, but also a little scary being that high up. As long as we're strapped in tight, I think I can be brave. After Sydney, we're heading to the Outback to see all the cool animals and wide open spaces. We're going on a safari to try to spot kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, and maybe even a dingo or two! I really hope we get to see a kangaroo up close. They're such funny looking creatures, like a dog standing up on its hind legs. I'll have to be careful though, I've heard their kicks can be super powerful if they feel threatened. Then it's off to the Great Barrier Reef for some snorkeling and scuba diving adventures. I just got certified for snorkeling last summer at the local pool. Swimming with all the bright colored fish and coral is going to be unbelievable! Maybe we'll even spot a shark from the safety of a glass-bottom boat tour. As long as it's not too close, seeing a shark would be really cool. I'll definitely be sticking with the guide though, just to be safe. Our last stop is Melbourne to visit some of Dad's relatives we've never met before. I don't know too much about Melbourne yet, but I'm excited to explore a new city. Apparently it's a bit cooler than the other places we're visiting since it's further south. We might even get to see a penguin colony ifwe're lucky!I have so much to look forward to on this trip. New sights, new experiences, and making amazing family memories.Australia truly seems like the adventure of a lifetime. I'll have to make sure I keep a travel journal to remember every single detail. Maybe I can even convince Mom and Dad to let me start a travel blog to share my adventures with my friends back home. This is going to be epic!篇4My Dream Vacation to AustraliaG'day mates! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. I've been learning all about the amazing country of Australia in school, and now I really want to go visit there on holiday!Australia just seems like the coolest place ever. It's a huge island continent way down under in the southern hemisphere. That means the seasons are opposite from ours - when it's summer here, it's winter there! How wild is that? I'd love to celebrate Christmas on the beach instead of freezing my bum off.The landscapes in Australia look unreal. There's the famous Outback desert in the center that's just endless red earth and monster road trains driving through. I'd get to see kangaroos bouncing around everywhere! Maybe I could even learn to throw a boomerang properly. Then there are the tropical rainforests in the northeast, filled with colorful parrots and other crazy critters like giant bats and monster spiders. I'm not too sure about the spiders to be honest...but it would be awesome to learn about aboriginal culture from the indigenous people who have lived there for over 50,000 years!Out in the ocean, Australia has got the Great Barrier Reef which is the world's biggest coral reef system. You can snorkel or scuba dive and see clownfish, sharks, rays, and billions of other marine animals just swimming around you. How epic would that be?! The reef is slowly dying though from climate change, so I'd want to see it before it's gone forever.Australia's cities look incredibly fun too. I'd start off in Sydney, where I could climb to the top of the huge steel Sydney Harbour Bridge and the iconic Sydney Opera House. Then I'd jet over to Melbourne which is supposed to be a cool, artsy city with amazing street art everywhere. In the middle of the country there's even Uluru, a gigantic red rock formation that's sacred to the aboriginals. It would be wicked to go on a real Outback camping adventure and learn about the Dreamtime stories around the campfire. The more I learn about Australia, the more I want to go! It just seems like a whole other world compared to my small town. I'm going to start saving up my allowance right now so I can afford the flight and have spending money for souvenirs. Maybe I can finally get a pet kangaroo...or at least a stuffed one! There's so much to see and do, I don't know if I'd ever want to leave! Crikey, Australia seems like the holiday of a lifetime for a kid like me. I'm jealous of anyone who gets to live there - you guys are so lucky! I can't wait until I'm finally old enough to start exploring the amazing Land Down Under myself. Just call me Jamie the Aussie Adventurer!篇5My Dream Vacation to AustraliaEver since I was a little kid, I've dreamed of going to Australia! There's just something so exciting and adventurous about that huge country with its amazing animals, beautiful beaches, and cool accents. I've been planning my dream vacation to the land Down Under for years now. Here are all the details of my totally awesome upcoming trip!First up, we'll be flying into Sydney, which looks like such an amazing city. I can't wait to see the famous Sydney Opera Houseand climb up to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge - that's going to be so scary but so much fun! We're going to spend a few days exploring Sydney and seeing the sights. I really want to go to Taronga Zoo to see the kangaroos, koalas, and other Aussie creatures up close. And we have to do a Sydney Harbour cruise to get stunning views of the city skyline. Maybe we'll even get to spot some whales or dolphins! After Sydney, we're road tripping up the East Coast to tropical Queensland. This is the part I'm most excited about! We're going to spend a whole week in the rainforests learning about the incredible plants and wildlife that are found nowhere else on Earth. We'll go hiking, zip-lining through the trees, and even camping out in the jungle. I've read there are these crazy colorful birds and snakes and spiders - I can't wait to see them all! We're also going to the famous Australia Zoo started by Steve Irwin to learn about crocodiles and venomous snakes. That's going to be both terrifying and awesome. Then we'll head to the breathtaking Great Barrier Reef for some world-class snorkeling and scuba diving. I've never been diving before but I can't wait to swim among the bright coral and try to spot Nemo, turtles, sharks, and every other type of sea creature. The underwater world there looks like something fromanother planet. We're also going to do a beach day and learn to surf on the beautiful golden sand! After the Reef, it's off to the vast Australian Outback - the remote desert in the center of the country. This part sounds crazy! We're going to sleep under the stars, ride camels, learn about Aboriginal culture from real-life Aborigines, and get to see wild dingoes, kangaroos, and maybe even deadly snakes in their natural habitats. I've heard stories of people exploring the Outback and coming across giant red rock formations, dry salt lakes, and crazy dust storms. It's going to be such an adventure! On our final leg, we'll visit the island state of Tasmania to hike through ancient forests, see waterfalls and mountains, and try to spot Tasmanian devils and wombats. Tasmania looks like a lush, green paradise. I can't wait to breathe in the fresh forest air and escape the hustle and bustle of the cities for a few days. This trip is going to be the ultimate Australian experience - beaches, cities, rainforests, the Outback, amazing animals, cool cultures, and so much more! I've been saving up my allowance for years to help pay for it all. Every time I think about seeing a kangaroo hopping across the desert or scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef, I get so incredibly excited. Australia just seems like awhole other world filled with adventures and life-changing moments around every corner.I know this amazing vacation is still over a year away, but I'm already counting down the days. I have Australia books, movies, and games to keep getting me pumped up and learning more about the country. When the big trip finally comes, you can be sure I'll be living it up and soaking in every second. This is a dream vacation that is going to create memories to last a lifetime! Crikey, I can't wait to explore the land Down Under!篇6My Dream Vacation to AustraliaWow, Australia seems like such an amazing place to visit! I've been learning all about it in school and watching fun videos about all the cool animals that live there. I really, really want to go for my next big vacation.First of all, I'd love to see some kangaroos! Kangaroos are probably the most famous Australian animals. They hop around on their big back legs and have cute little baby kangaroos called joeys that ride around in their mom's pouch. How cute is that? I saw a video where you can actually pet kangaroos at certain wildlife parks. I would give them such gentle pets and try not toscare them. Kangaroos are just the start though - Australia has so many other awesome animals I want to see too.Like koalas! Koalas are these fuzzy little bear-like creatures that sleep in eucalyptus trees all day. They are so sleepy and cuddly looking. I read that most koalas live in the wild, but some wildlife parks let you see them up close and even hold one if you're really careful. I would be so gentle holding a koala bear. I'd probably just stare at it the whole time because they're soadorable. I have a stuffed koala toy, but it's not the same as seeing a real one. Then there are wombats - they kind of look like little chubby bears that waddle around. From what I've learned, wombats love digging tunnels and holes underground. They are super good at digging with their strong claws. I think it would be hilarious to watch a wombat slowly waddling its way somewhere and then suddenly start furiously digging a new tunnel. That's something you definitely can't see here at home!Australia is also famous for its many poisonous snakes and spiders, like the funnel web spider. Don't worry, I don't actually want to see those up close! I'll let my dad be the one to check under rocks and logs for those. I'd rather just see them safely behind glass at a zoo or museum. Watching them from far awaywould still be pretty cool though, just to say I saw a real deadly Australian creature. One thing I'm most excited about is going to the amazing beaches in Australia. The beaches there look like paradise, with bright blue water and white sandy shores. I've seen pictures of people snorkeling and scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef to see all the colorful fish and coral. How amazing would that be to actually swim in that myself? My dream would be to swim up close to a giant sea turtle or maybe even a whale shark if I'm super lucky. I'd also love to just relax on the beach and maybe even learn how to surf the big waves. Beach days would be my favorite part for sure.Honestly, I could go on and on about all the awesome things I'd want to do in Australia. It looks like an entire country filled with beauty, adventure, unique animals, and fun activities. From snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef to cuddling a koala to watching a wombat dig in the wild, I know Australia would give me so many incredible experiences and memories. My family would probably need multiple trips just to see and do everything!I really hope I get to visit Australia someday. Maybe for a summer vacation when I'm a little bit older. Until then, I'll just keep learning as much as I can about the country. I have so manyquestions! Like do kangaroos actually box each other? Are there any giant dinosaur skeletons left in Australia? What's a platypus?I can't wait to find out. Australia is definitely at the very top of my dream vacation list!。

英国的君主形式上仍是澳大利亚的君主,但澳大利亚是一个独立的民主国家。

澳大利亚土著人的文化传统、不列颠的殖民历史、来自世界各地移民的价值观在这里都得到了保持。

Soon after(不久之后) its discovery it served as a penal colony((罪犯的)流放地) for the overcrowded(过度拥挤的) English jails(监狱), and the ancestry(祖先) of today's Australians' can be traced back to(追溯到) these first settlers(移民者, 殖民者). Today, it is still part of the British Commonwealth(英联邦) but is ruled(统治) by it's own democratic(民主政体的), independent(独立自主的) elected(有候选资格的) government with the Queen Of England as it's sovereign(至高无上的) head of state. At the time Australia was discovered, it was inhabited(有居民的;有人居住的) by an indigenous(本土的) people called Aborigines(澳大利亚土著居民) whoworshiped(崇拜), and indeed still worship, the sun gods. Theirmost sacred shrine(神圣的圣地) is now one of Australia's mostvisited tourist attractions(旅游胜地). Its name is AyersRock(艾尔斯岩), or as it is known to the Aborigines-- Uluru(roughly(粗略地) translated as "named after our ancestors from both our yesterdays.")Situated in the middle of the Australian desert(沙漠), it is an ochre red colour(赭红色), and this colouring undergoes subtle(微妙的) changes during the day as the sun passes over. To the Aborigines it is the font of life, central to their heritage(遗产) and culture even today. When you first see it you will be spellbound(着迷的,走火入魔的) by its presence(出现) of mystery(神秘).Australia's population of around 20 million is nearly equal to(等于) the population of Shanghai, with 90% of people living around its costal areas(沿海地区). Its wonderful climate(气候) all year round is a natural tourist attraction and has a definite(明确的) influence on lifestyle. The most famous attraction however, is, asI mentioned earlier, one of the Seven Wonders Of the World--TheGreat Barrier Reef.Stretching(延伸) along 2700 miles of the Easterncoastline(海岸线), it is the worlds largest natural CoralReef(珊瑚礁), made up over 1000 chains of islands andatolls(环状珊瑚岛)-- a true pearl(珍珠)--home to thousandsof different species(种类) of fish and marine life(海洋生物),from the notorious(声名狼籍的) Great White Shark(大白鲨)to the monstrous(异形的; 怪异的) Grouper fish(石斑鱼), amyriad(形形色色的) of brightly colored shoals of (许多的;大群的)fish of every type and size darting(突然而急促地移动) here and there, so busy with their daily tasks offeeding and cleaning the corals(珊瑚), in return they receive protection from predators(掠夺者, 食肉动物).As well as the Great White Shark there are so many other types sharks in abundance(丰富充裕), attracted by the plentiful supply of food. The shark is one of nature's oldest creatures(动物) and is a perfectly evolved(进化) killing machine(杀戮机器) --a true master(主人) of the sea.The abundance of multi-coloured(五颜六色的) corals in all varying shapes and sizes wafting(漂流) in the clear, warm currents(水流), makes this one of the most perfect scuba diving(配戴水肺的潜水) locations in the world. The crystal clear(极其透明的;清澈的) warm waters also offer perfect snorkeling conditions(通气条件).For the less adventurous a trip on one of themany glass-bottomed(玻璃底的) boats is a must in orderto view this magical(神秘的;迷人的) underwater worldfor yourself. You will then understand why it is truly oneof the seven wonders of the world.Further down the coast is an area known as theGold Coast(黄金海岸); seven miles of sun drenched(充足的), unspoiled(未受到损害的) golden beaches lapped by rolling turquoise blue(蓝绿色) seas that are famous for world-class surfing(冲浪运动) and bronzed beauties(古铜肤色的美女). Close by is the capital--Canberra(堪培拉), the seat of Government. Adelaide(阿德雷德) is another town worth a visit, in close proximity to the wine growing regions. On Australia's western side, Perth(佩思) is the largest City, a cosmopolitan metropolis(国际化大都市) with a distinctly British influence still in evidence. Fremantle(弗里曼特尔) is where the first paying British immigrants(移民) settled. These settlers paid their own fare to get there, so were free people not convicts(罪犯)-- hence the name. The climate on this side of Australia is a lot wetter and the terrain(地形) is much more lush(葱翠的,有茂盛植被的). Further up the coast is the most northern port --Darwin(达尔文)-- the gateway(门,通路) to the Northern territories(领土,地域) where the worlds purist diamonds and gold are now mined(开采,挖掘).Australia's national emblem(象征) is the Kangaroo(袋鼠);along with the cuddly(令人想拥抱的) Koala bear(考拉熊,树熊)that is the animal everyone associates with the country. Eating out is so popular. Australians eat a lot of succulent(多汁的), mouth watering(令人流口水的) beef steaks(牛排) that are cooked in the traditional Australian way--barbequed(烤肉) outdoors in large portions washed down with copious(丰富的;很多的) (large) amounts of home-brewed(家酿的) beers served in stubbies (bottles), and the renowned home produced red and white wines. For those who have a large appetite(食欲), Australia is the place to be as I can personally testify having sampled nearly all of the gastronomic delights(美食) this great country has to offer.I lived in Australia for two years and visited all of these places and many more, and I have such fond memories of the warm and friendly people, all thewonderful sights that I saw, and meals that I can still taste to this day(至今).
