The latest version of the law was promulgated in March 2021 and took effect on June 1, 2021. It aims to protect the rights and interests of patent holders, promote innovation and technological progress, and contribute to social and economic development in China.The law defines a patent as a legal document issued by the government granting an inventor or creator exclusive rights over their invention for a limited period of time. It covers three types of patents: invention patents, utility model patents, and design patents.
