2015届普通高等学校招生全国统一考试模拟信息卷英语试题

AThere are so many ways to interpret body language and many, many more body language indicators. Below, we’ll show you some of the most popular indicators. How close are they?Physical proximity is a frequently used body language indicator that many people don’t notice. If someone is comfortable with you, they won’t mind sitting or standing near you. So an interesting way to see if someone actually thinks you’re okay is to go brush shoulders with them. If they back away, you have your answer!Restless handsHave you ever seen someone drumming on a desk or a chair with their fingers? What about people playing drums on their legs? This can be a sign of impatience, restlessness, and even sometimes anger. If you’re lecturing your kids and they’re drumming their fingers on the table, chances are you may not really be getting through to them. When you’re speaking with someone and they’re doing this, it’s time to switch tactics.Holding your hands behind your backOf all the body language indicators on this list, this one is the most ambiguous. People hold their hands behind their backs for a number of reasons. Watch any mafia movie a nd you’ll see the Don holding his hands behind his back as a sign of power. People in the military are taught to do it as a sign of respect. Sometimes, people will even do it to be cute. Usually, when this occurs, you must rely on other indicators to determine the emotion being displayed. It is still quite popular.Hands balled into fistsThis is another really popular indicator. Unlike the last one, this one has pretty much one single meaning. People do it when they’re frustrated and angry. This is usually a precursor to violence, as balled up firsts often results in something getting punched or hit. If you are speaking with someone and their hands are balled up in fists, things could go wrong very quickly.Arms crossed!People often misconstrue what crossing arms actually means. People think it means that someone is angry. In fact, it’s actually used as a defensive stance. People who have their arms crossed are unconsciously defending themselves. They may not want to talk anymore or they may be hiding somet hing they don’t want to talk about. But crossing the arms means a person is trying to comfort themselves, meaning they’re uncomfortable.Surprise! This one is pretty obvious but we are talking about popular body language indicators. When someone widens the ir eyes or raises their eye brows, they’re most often surprised or shocked at something. There really aren’t any other reasons why someone widens their eyes. So this one is not only really popular, but really obvious and easy to spot!21. What can we do if we want to know whether someone likes to stay with us or not?A. we can just stand close to him or her.B. we can only shake hands with him or her.C. we can hug him or her tightly.D. we can drum on the desk with our fingers.22. If someone is a soldier, he use a gesture like holding his hands behind his back to ?A. show his power over others.B. show his respect to others.C. show his angry to others.D. show his cuteness to others.23. What these individuals (and close to 60 million others around the world) share, is a remarkable, free software program called Babylon.Babylon may well be the most advanced translation software in the world, and it's a must-have for anyone whose life extends beyond the borders of their own language--or those who want it to. Once you download it, yo u can highlight any text in practically any program, and it’s instantly translated into the language of your choice. You can use it to translate a website, email, word doc, pdf, and virtually any document in any format you can think of. You can compose a document in your native language, and Babylon will instantly translate it into another before you send it.The program translates 75 languages, including: Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, Hindu, and Russian. It also includes up-to-date encyclopedias, dictionaries, and spell checkers.Babylon is a long way from early translation software that would, more often than not, generate an unreadable babble of grammatically incoherent text that was better suited for generating laughs than comprehension. Babylon's ability to understand and translate is state-of-the art. In fact, businesses are adopting Babylon as the standard when it comes to translating commercial communications and other important documents.Babylon is also a great tool for people who are learning another language. Use it anytime you encounter a word or passage you don't understand. What users praise most is the program's ability to open up a different world to them. AI’m a speed reader. Have been since I was a teen. Mother worked for the continuing education department of a university, and they were offering a class on speed reading and needed one more person to fill out the class. I became that one person. The class met for only an hour or two for a few weeks, but when the goal of a class is speed, you don’t need to meet for long. The instructor said to make our eyes go across the lines of words as fast as they could and not to be concerned about what the words meant. I read Animal Farm in 10 ten minutes. Cover to cover. The instructor asked what the book was about. I said I didn’t know, but if I had to guess I’d say it was about animals on a farm. He looked displeased.I’ve been speed reading ever since. I can’t stop and I can’t slow down. Today, for example, I plan on reading Churchill’s History of the English Speaking Peoples over lunch. I hope it’s more memorable than Animal Farm.As a result of all this speed-reading, I often experience a delay between what I think I read and what something actually says. The other day I passed by a mall with a large sign that said “Auto Theft Sale”. I thought how efficient it was for auto thieves to simply sell all the stole cars in a big tent at the mall. A half-mile later it dawned on me that the sign had said “Auto Tent Sale”.Every time I drive through a construction zone, I gasp (屏气). The sign says: “Hit a Worker$10, 000 (about 62,000 yuan).” It reads like they’re offering a reward. Of course, it’s not an offer. It’s just that my eyes rarely take in the last line that says, “Fine.” It’s a $10, 000 fine if you hit a worker. Someone really needs to rephrase that one.Speed reading has bitten me on the backside more than once. Especially as a writer. Just ask any of my editors.21. Why was the author able to attend classes on speed reading?A. Her mother found her gifted in speed reading.B. She was the only teenager applicant for the class.C. She’d a lready practiced speed reading before.D. She took a chance and filled one vacancy (空缺).22. What left the instructor unsatisfied in the class?A. It took the author ten minutes to complete Animal Farm.B. The author read fast but didn’t get the main idea of the book.C. The class was only an hour or two for a few weeks.D. All the class actually failed to follow his advice.23. The author tends to prove that there is always a delay in her understanding after speed readingby ________.A. making comparisonsB. analyzing cause and effectC. giving examplesD. drawing a conclusion24. Which of the following best describes the author?A. Talented and productive.B. Proud and hot-headed.C. Careless and quick-tempered.D. Truthful and humorous.BA trip across the Pacific will guarantee you a different experience with a tipping culture you’ve never come across in China. In the US, giving a little extra money to service workers on top of your bill is a common practice.Though US national law requires that businesses pay workers at least $ (45 yuan) per hour, employees receiving tips—often waiters and waitresses—are the exceptions. They usually only receive at least $ an hour, and tips make up the difference. As the Wall Street Journal put it, “The American system of tipping holds the promise of great rewards for waiting staff.”So how should you tip if you are in the US?Normally you pay tips as a percentage of the bill. Offering an extra 15 percent of the bill to the waiter or waitress in a restaurant and to the delivery man or woman is customary and expected. You can offer more for great service and less for poor service.Yet there is an exception. For take-out food, you don’t have to provide tips, though some people say that filling an order still requires work and time that deserve a little extra—but maybe a little less.Tips are not expected at fast food restaurants, cafés or ice cream shops either, though a tip jar might be right by the cash register (收银机). Don’t feel obligated to throw some money in, but also remember that it doesn’t hurt. Those workers do not rely on tips.Other service workers also receive tips. For taxi drivers, 15 percent is the norm (标准), more if they help with your bags. Hairdressers often receive about 15 percent of the bill. The same goes for spa therapists and tour guides.Today, you can even pay tips on a credit card. When receiving a copy of the bill to sign, you are free to fill in how much you’d like to tip.Though thinking about when to tip and how much you should tip causes a big headache for many Chinese people, it’s important to bear in mind that as long as you show respect and use your reasoning, things will be just fine.25. According to the Wall Street Journal, the American system of tipping ________.A. helps restaurants profit moreB. encourages better serviceC. supports satisfactory pay for waiting staffD. encourages more respect to the waiting staff26. Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?A. We don’t necessarily have to pay tips at McDonalds’.B. We should always tip in a restaurant.C. Consumers can choose tip by credit card.D. Consumers usually pay 15% of the bill as tips.27. Which of the following best describes the author’s attitude towards tipping?A. Giving tips is a big headache for Chinese.B. There are too many rules to follow when tipping.C. Tipping system should not apply to foreigners.D. We need to take it easy and do as the Romans do.CWho knows why kids do anything? When it comes to cyberbullying (网络欺凌), they are often motivated by anger or frustration (挫败感). Sometimes they do it for entertainment or because they are bored and have too much time on their hands and too many tech toys available to them. Many do it for laughs or to get a reaction. Some do it by accident, without thinking before they do something. The power-hungry do it to make others suffer. And some think they arerighting wrong and standing up for others. Because their motives differ, the solutions and responses to each type of cyberbullying incident has to differ, too. There is no “one size fits all” when cyberbullying is concerned. However, education can help considerably in preventing and dealing with the consequences of cyberbullying. If we can help kids understand how much bullying hurts, and how in many cases words can hurt, fewer may cooperate with the cyberbullies. They will think twice before forwarding a hurtful e-mail, or visiting a cyberbullying “vote for the fat girl” site, or allowing others to take videos or cell phone pictures of personal moments. And, in addition to not lending their efforts to continue the cyberbullying, we also need to teach our children not to stand silently by while others are being hurt. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said that in the end we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends. Kids will feel more comfortable to break the silence if given an anonymous (匿名的) method of reporting cyberbullying web-sites. School administration, community groups and even school policing staff can receive these anonymous tips and take action quickly. If our children do not allow the cyberbullies to use them to embarrass or hurt others and realize that silence, when others are being hurt, is not acceptable, cyberbullying will quickly stop. It’s a tall task, but a noble goal. And in the end, our children will be safer on line and offline. We will have helped create a generation of good cybercitizens, controlling the technology instead of being controlled by it.28. Which of the following is NOT an action of cyber-bullying?A. Standing up for others.B. Forwarding a hurtful e-mail.C. V oting for the fat girl on a website.D. Saying cruel words to upset others.29. What does the underlined sentence mean?A. We will forget our enemies, but remember our friends.B. friends will give us silent support when we are in trouble.C. our friends will stick with us without saying anything.D. it hurt more if our friends stand by when we are suffering.30. The writer organizes the passage following the pattern of ________.A. effect—causeB. problem—solutionC. topic—supporting detailsD. conclusion—evidence31. What does the writer mainly tell us?A. How much kids suffer from cyberbullying.B. How to deal with different kinds of cyberbullies.C. How to teach kids to take a stand against cyberbullying.D. How to create a generation of good cybercitizens.DDear Parent/Guardian,There has been a case of Pertussis (百日咳) reported at Hilltop High. Your child may have been exposed to this highly infectious disease that causes severe coughing. Because no vaccine is 100% protective, even immunized persons can become ill with Pertussis, but the symptoms are usually milder.Pertussis is spread through the air when a sick person coughs or sneezes. Infants and young children are at highest risk. Their symptoms most often include cold symptoms such as runny nose, slight fever, and occasional cough. The cough becomes worse and may be followed by: • a crowing (whooping) sound on breathing in•vomiting•choking or turning blueIn older children and adults, Pertussis symptoms include serious coughing attacks that last for two weeks or longer. These attacks may worsen at night. If your child starts to show symptoms of Pertussis:1.Consult your healthcare provider and let them know your child may have been exposed to someone ill with Pertussis. This disease is treated with specific antibiotics.2. Inform the school if your doctor suspects your child is ill with Pertussis. Sick children should stay home until completion of five days of antibiotic therapy to prevent spreading the disease to others. To help protect against getting ill from Pertussis:1. Check with your doctor to see if you and your family are up to date with the appropriate vaccine.2. Wash hands frequently.3. Visit the websites or to learn more about Pertussis.4. Dear Sir,I have to travel every day from Souk Road to the airport. Two buses travel along their route: the number 49 and number 16. But by the time the number 16 bus reaches Souk Road it is always full, so I can’t get on it. I have to wait for the number 49, becaus e sometimes there are empty seats on it.The timetable says that there are buses from Souk Road to the airport every ten minutes. If this is so, why do I have to wait half an hour for a bus nearly every day?The regulations (规章) say that if there are empty seats on a bus, the bus must stop at every stop where people are waiting. Why do the half-empty buses go straight past me when I am standing at the bus stop? The regulations say that no bus may carry more than 40 seated passengers and 20 standing passengers. Yesterday I was the first to get off the bus when it reached the airport.I counted the other passengers as they got off. There were 129 of them.It is clear that our bus companies break the regulations and think little of their passengers. Can nothing be done to make your service better?Yours,Tired passenger1. The writer has to take Bus No. 49 because______.A. it arrives on timeB. it is not always fullC. it travels fasterD. it has fewer seats on it2. From the passage we can infer that the writer of the letter is probably ______.A. an airport workerB. a bus driverC. a very tired travelerD. an English teacher3. What kind of letter is this passage?A. It’s a letter of thanks.B. It’s a letter of apology.C. It’s a letter of introduction.D. It’s a letter of complaint.BOne morning in midsummer, I headed out to have a good time by myself on the paths of Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue Nebraska. It was a typically warm and wet summer day in Nebraska. The bugs were everywhere: mosquitoes, flies, bees, you name it. I followed the stream path, which made its way through four-foot high grass. I tried to enjoy the beautiful scenery but had to constantly fan away the bugs in front of my face. I grew increasingly upset.Eventually becoming angry with the bugs, I stopped and waved my arms all round while turning around in a circle. At the very moment, I saw what I had missed the moment before. It seems that a deer had been hidden in the tall grass just one foot away from where I stood. I missed it because of my concentration on the bugs. When I was ready to watch it, the deer was forced to abandon its spot. It leaped in the air right before my eyes and rushed off for better cover. It was too late. I missed it. Now I was attentive and ready to see what was around me, but the sight that might have been seen was gone. I missed the enjoyment of being so close to wildlife! Immediately I wondered what else I was missing, and not just there on the path.I wondered how the bothersome bugs of my life kept me from noticing really important stuff. Maybe it is very useful for my life. This has become a life lesson that I’ve remembered often. It’s affected my visits with my grandma, the time alone with my husband, and get-together with friends. I’ve learned from my mistake.4. The author went to Fontenelle Forest to __________.A. get close to wildlifeB. explore the pathsC. search for deerD. enjoy herself5. How did the author probably feel when she missed the deer?A. Surprised.B. Cheerful.C. Regretful.D. Pleased.6. W hat does the underlined word “stuff” in the last paragraph mean?A. Things.B. And serious damage is being caused to our health and environment. If we do not take immediate action, we’ll have to face unimaginable consequences. In order to prevent haze and reduce pollution, we have to take some effective measures. Here are my suggestions. To begin with, we should find out the real cause of pollution. Moreover, we should restrict traffic and shut down the factories which send out waste gases and water. Above all, we should strengthen people’s awareness and consciousness. Only if everyone does his own bit can we succeed in the battle against haze and pollution, and enjoy clean air and a blue sky.。

Fly Alone for the First TimeI began flying lessons at the age of 14; but the Federal Aviation Administration requires you to be 16 before you make a flight by yourself. So I had to wait for two long years until I could fly a plane by myself. I used that time to master the basic maneuvers (要领) of flying. I learned emergency procedures and practiced hundreds of takeoffs and landings until I could land the airplane smoothly without bouncing it down the runway. It wasn’t always easy, and many times I would come home feeling discouraged and thinking maybe everyone was right—I would never learn to fly, but by the next day, I was always eager to try again. On the day of my 16th birthday, I made my first solo flight, which meant I could finally fly alone. The night before, my dad, who was my flight instructor, explained that the winds were forecast to be high. He said if we were in the air by dawn, the winds would probably be calm enough for me to solo. The next morning it was cold, but the sky was completely clear, and the winds were calm. I expected my dad to stay in the plane for at least three takeoffs and landings. But after the first one, he told me to pull off the runway, and he got out of the plane.I was alone. As I climbed higher and higher, the world began to change. Everything on the ground became miniature. Houses, cars, and all looked like tiny toys that could fit in the surface of my hand. I made three takeoffs and landings that day. Each landing was perfect. It was one of the happiest days of my life.Today, as a flight instructor, I stand alongside runways watching as my own students take to the sky on their first solo flights. I understand the joy faces, which always bring me back to that day when my dream came true. I learned that no matter how people tell you that you can’t do something, if you believ e in yourself, you can succeed.1. When practicing flying, the author ______.A. met several times of emergenciesB. was worried about his own safetyC. couldn’t wait to fly a lone in the skyD. sometimes doubted his ability to fly2. The underlined word “miniature” probably means “______”.A. distantB. unclearC. smallD. high3. What was the father concerned about before his son flied alone?A. Whether his son was brave enough.B. Whether it would be too windy.C. Whether he was able to protect his son.D. Whether there were negative comments.4. What lesson does the author learn from his experience?A. Be confident and you will succeed.B. Be responsible and you can grow up.C. Give up something and you may win more.D. Think hard and you can achieve your dream.5. This passage was written to _________.A. encourageB. discussC. opposeD. support第二节:(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

Forget Twitter and Facebook, Google and the Kindle. Television is still the most influential medium around. Indeed, for many of the poorest regions(地区) of the world, it remains the next big thing—finally becomes globally available. And that is a good thing, because the TV revolution is changing lives for the better.Across the developing world, around 45% of families had a TV in 1995; by 2005 the number had climbed above 60%. That is some way behind the U.S., where there are more TVs than people, and where people now easily get access to the Internet. Five million more families in sub-Saharan Africa will get a TV over the next five years. In 2005 , after the fall of the Taliban(塔利班), which had banned TV, 1 in 5 Afghans had one. The global total is another 150 million by 2013—pushing the numbers to well beyond two thirds of families.Television’s most powerful effect will be on the lives of women. In India, researchers Robert Jensen and Emily Oster found that when TVs reached villages, women were more likely to go to the market without their husbands’ approval and less likely to want a boy rather than a girl. They were more likely to make decisions over child health care. TV is also a powerful medium for adult education. In the Indian state of Gujarat, Chitrageet is a popular show that plays Bollywood songs with words in Gujarati on the screen. Within six months, viewers had made a small but significant improvement in their reading skills.Too much TV has been associated with violence, overweight and loneliness. However, TV is having a positive influence on the lives of billions worldwide.1. What do we learn from the first paragraph?A. Television is more important than Twitter and Facebook.B. Television is the most influential medium in the world.C. Television is improving the lives of the people.D. Without television, people will become poor.2. Which of the following is correct according to the second paragraph?A. The number of TVs in developing countries is getting larger and larger.B. The number of TVs in China is bigger than that of the US.C. The number of TVs in the US was smaller than that of the people in 2005.D. Compared to 1995, the number of families which have TVs has increased by 60%. 3. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?A. Americans used to get access to the Internet easily.B. The world’s TV sets will total 150 million by 2013.C. 45% of families in the developing countries had a TV in 2005.D. Over two thirds of families in the world will have a TV by 2013.4. The author intends to ____________.A. stress the advantages of TV to people’s livesB. persuade women to become more independentC. encourage people to improve their reading skillsD. introduce the readers some websites such as Google5. What would be the best title for the passage? Will Rule the World Will Disturb the World Will Better the World Will Remain in the World第二节:(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

选项中有两项为多余选项。

What makes one person more intelligent than another? What makes one person genius, like the brilliant Albert Einstein, and another person a fool? Are people born intelligent or stupid, or is intelligence the result of where and how you live? 6 We know, however, that just being born with a good mind is not enough. In some ways, the mind is like a leg or an arm muscle. 7 Mental exercise (done with the mind) is particularly important for young children. Many child psychologists think that parents should play with their children more often and give them problems to think about.8 If, on the other hand, children are left alone a great deal with nothing to do, they are more likely to become dull and unintelligent.9 According to some psychologists, if parents are always telling a child that he or she is a fool or an idiot (白痴), then the child is more likely to keep doing silly and foolish things. So it is probably better for parents to say very positive things to their children, such as “10 ” or “You are such a smart child.”A.It needs exercise.B.Parents should also be careful what they say to young children.C.These are very old questions and the answers to them are still not clear.D.Child psychologists don’t believe it.E.The children are then more likely to grow up bright and intelligent.F.You must be careful what you are doing.G.That is a very clever thing you did.II. 完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)When Alice started to cycle home from Jenny’s house, she wasn’t nervous.
