As a student at the University of Hong Kong, I have had the opportunity to experience the benefits of studying in a bilingual environment. On one hand, being able to communicate fluently in English has opened up many doors
for me in terms of career opportunities and networking. On the other hand, being able to speak Cantonese has allowed me to connect with the local community and understand their culture on a deeper level.
One of the main advantages of studying in a bilingual environment is the ability to communicate with people from different backgrounds. For example, when I interned at a multinational company, I was able to communicate with colleagues from different countries in English. This not only allowed me to learn about their cultures and perspectives, but also helped me to build valuable connections that I can leverage in the future.
Another benefit of studying in a bilingual environment
is the ability to understand different perspectives. When I am able to switch between English and Cantonese, I am able
to understand the nuances of each language and the cultural differences that come with them. This has helped me to become a more empathetic and understanding person, which is a valuable skill in any profession.
