An old man made his way to a box, and then sat near one of the windows alone. He began to carefully take the old photograph album out one by one. Besides those albums, he found a diary book in the box. It was his grown-up son’s.
He could not remember when his son wrote it. After thinking hard for several minutes, he shook his head that was full of silver hair. Opening the yellowed pages, he smiled when he read the words and his pale face gradually turned red. He seemed to find the figure of the boy who had grown up too fast in this house, and whose voice had grown farther and farther over the years. It reminded him of his own diary book -he had kept a habit of writing diaries of his business activities over the years. He then went to look for it.
He found his own under the wooden stairs. He sat down at the chair and placed the two diaries beside him. One of the diary books remained new, while the other one was scuffed (磨损) from its surface. When he opened it, he noticed one page. Because there were two sentences which were so brief comparing to other passages. In his own handwriting were these words: Wasted the whole day fishing with Jimmy. Didn’t catch a thing!
It was such a boring day for him because he felt very upset for fishing nothing! With a deep sigh and a shaking hand, he took Jimmy’s diary book out and just found a diary for the same day! In a hurry, he read it. Large scrawling letters (潦草的字迹), pressed deeply into the paper: Went fishing with my dad. Best day of my life.
He was shocked by those words and tears wet his eyes.
