Once upon a time, there lived a poor fisherman and his wife in a small village by the sea. The fisherman went out to sea every day to catch fish, while his wife stayed at home to take care of their small hut.
One day, the fisherman caught a magic fish that could talk. The fish begged the fisherman to let him go, and in exchange, he would grant the fisherman a wish. The fisherman, being a kind-hearted man, agreed to let the fish go.
When the fisherman returned home and told his wife about the magic fish, she became very angry and demanded that he go back and ask the fish for a wish. The fisherman obeyed and went back to the sea to find the fish.
The fish granted the fisherman's wife a wish for a nicer house. But soon, the wife became greedy and asked for more wishes, such as a palace, servants, and riches. Each time, the fish granted her wish, but
warned her that her greed would eventually bring her nothing but trouble.
However, the wife did not listen and continued to ask for more and more wishes. Finally, the fish grew tired of her greed and told the fisherman that he would no longer grant any wishes. The wife became very angry and demanded that the fisherman kill the fish.
The fisherman, feeling sorry for the fish, refused to kill him. Instead, he threw him back into the sea. From then on, the fisherman and his wife lived a simple life again, but they were happier than ever before.
