Dear Malia and Sasha,
I know that you’ve both had a lot of fun these last two years when I was busy with my work. You went to piics and state fairs, and you ate all kinds of junk food your mother and I probably shouldn’t have let you have. But I also know that it hasn’t always been easy for you and Mom because of the time we’ve been apart. Today I want to tell you a little more about why I decided to take our family on this journey.
As a young man, I thought life was all about me-about how I’d make my way in the world, bee successful, and get the things I want. But then the two of you came into my world. I soon found that the greatest joy in my life was the joy I saw in yours. And I realized that my own life wouldn’t count for much unless I was able to ensure that you had every Chance for happiness. In the end, girls, that’s why I ran for President: because of what I want for you and for every child in this nation.
I want all our children to go to good schools. I want them to have the chance to go to college-even if their parents aren’t rich. And I want them to get good jobs: jobs that pay well and give them health care, jobs that let them spend time with their own kids.
I want you to see new inventions that improve our lives and make our planet cleaner and safer.
America is great not because it is perfect but because it can always be made better-and that the unfinished work of perfecting our union falls to each of us.
These are the things I want for you-to grow up in a world with no limits on your dreams and to grow into excellent women who will help build that world. And I want every child to have the same chances to learn and dream. That’s why I’ve taken our family on this great adventure.
I love you more than you can ever know. We prepare to start our new life together in the White House.
Love, Dad

Is there someone you hate? Well, maybe you don’t really hate them. But you get really angry every time you think of them. If you don’t let this anger go, it can turn into bitterness.
Bitterness appears when we can’t forgive someone who has hurt us or made us angry. Someone might say or do something that hurts us. But instead of controlling the anger, we keep it deep inside. Before long, bitterness begins to grow. We may think we’re hurting that person by criticizing him or her often, but we’re really only hurting ourselves.
Bitterness can not only lead to serious health problems such as heart disease, but also hurt our relationships with friends and family members. No one enjoys being around an angry person for very long.
If you see bitterness in your life, here are some ways to deal with it.
●Accept it
Instead of trying to deny your anger, make it clear to yourself and accept it. See your anger for what it is and quickly deal with it.
●Stop making excuses for it
You may feel you can be angry. You may think you’re not wrong and the other person is wrong. You may even enjoy making the other person look bad. But in the end, bitterness hurts you much more than the other person. The bitterness will hold you back, and the other person will go on with his or her life.
●Forgive and forget it
You probably can’t pletely put the anger out of your mind. But you can decide to forgive the other person. Forget it and move on. You’ll enjoy better health and peace of mind.

( )40. What can we learn from the passage?
