Ice Lantern Festival: where large ice buildings and statues constructed with lights inside that make them glow.SiberianTigerPark: The park has several large caged areas where the tigers roam freely and live as they-would in their natural environment. We enter these caged areas in a specially designed van with large windows to get a look at these beautiful beasts. Live pheasants (雉) are let loose (if you pay) in order to show you the tigers' natural hunting skills.
Russian Architecture: Blessed with grace and character, the city is famous for its unique, Russian-influenced architecture. Guogeli Avenue:Harbin's second biggest shopping district dotted with Russian buildings. A tram track is still preserved in the centre of the road. The street is named after Nikolay (Vasilyevich) Gogol (1809-1852); great Russian novelist, dramatist, satirist, founder of the so-called critical realism in Russian literature, best-known for his novel MERTVYE DUSHI I-II (1842, Dead Souls).
Saint Sophia Church (built in 1903): The Orthodox church is a wonderful example of Russian Architecture. We only tour the outside of the church. If you have ever tried to catch a resting butterfly, you know it is surprisingly difficult. A new study helps explain why.
Previous research had suggested that a butterfly's overhead wing clap forces the insect forward. Researchers thought the wing clap likely formed a pocket of air that shoots out like a jet, but no one had tested that until now.
To understand their flight, they placed six butterflies one at a time inside a wind tunnel which was filled with smoke and then used a laser to light up the smoke just behind the butterfly. Four high-speed cameras were placed in the tunnel to take photos of the movement of the butterfly and the-smoke as the butterfly was taking off. This let the researchers create a 3D picture of that air movement as the insect flapped its wings.
They observed a total of 25 takeoffs by six butterflies. Each included up to three wing beats after takeoff. The butterflies proved more likely to clap their wings together during the first few wing beats than later in flight.
The photos show that forces created by the wings give rise to a flight path. The butterflies rise as their wings move down and shoot forward as their wings move up. A wing clap on takeoff, paired with a quick tum, allowed the butterflies to fly away quickly. They also noticed the wings formed an air pocket just before clapping and that the wings' flexibility and this pocket improved the jet force created by the clap.
“The study is exciting,” says Ayodeji Bode-Oke, a mechanical engineer in Charlottesville. That means “we have solved the longtime puzzle about how butterflies fly, and it proves nothing is impossible on the road of scientific research. I can't wait to learn about how the study might inform designs for small aerial vehicles.”
4. Why was laser used in the experiment?
A. To frighten the butterflies into lying.
B. To help researchers observe the butterflies.
C. To help take clear photos of air movement.
D. To guide the butterflies through the smoke.
5. What is the finding of the research-according to paragraph 5?
A. Butterflies fly forward as wings move down.
B. An air pocket forms after butterflies clap wings.
C. Butterflies beat wings three times before taking off.

6. According to the writer, the finding of the research can be used for .
A. helping catch a resting butterfly more easily
B. helping do research on other butterfly-like insects
C. helping provide inspiration for making small flying vehicles
D. helping widen the applications of small flying vehicle
7. What can be the best title for the text?

A Chinese space mining company has designed a robot that can capture waste material left behind by spacecraft in outer space with a big net.
The state-run Xinhua news agency recently reported that the robot launched on the government's Long March 6 rocket along with several satellites. The robot will also investigate deep space to observe small objects in the universe. The 30-kilogram robot, called NEO-01 , was developed by Origin Space. Pounded in 2019 and based in the southern Chinese tech hub(技术中心)Shenzhen, Origin Space has been devoted to exploring and using space resources, according to the company. The company says the robot will lead the way for future technologies capable of mining on asteroids(小行星).
The world's first asteroid mining company, Planetary Resources, was established in 2009. Since then, more than 12 businesses around the world have entered the industry, including 3D Systems of the United States and Japan's Astroscale. Astroscale's technology uses magnets (磁铁)to gather up space waste. But a report on the Origin Space website says NEO-01 will use a net to capture waste and then bum it. Thousands of satellites have been launched worldwide. As they are used too long, many end up as waste and put other operating satellites at
risk.
Su Meng is the founder of Origin Space. He said the company plans to launch many space telescopes and more spacecraft to begin the first for-profit mining of asteroids by 2045. Su added that NEO-01 will serve as a prototype (雏形)of future space mining robots, which can use rich mineral resources on asteroids to support the development of the space industry.
The Xinhua news agency reported that China was increasing efforts to land a spacecraft on a near-Earth asteroid to collectmaterials. China is also speeding up a plan to build a defense system against near-Earth asteroids. The country aims to follow Russia and the United States in becoming a major space power by 2030.
8. Which of the following can correctly describe NEO-01?
A. It weighs 60 kilograms.
B. It was created by Planetary Resources.
C. It will be burnt after finishing its mission.
D. It is mainly used to catch space waste.
9. What can be inferred from the text?
A. China will be the most powerful in space by 2030.
B. Origin Space will open more mines on asteroids.
C. It is those useless satellites that make space waste.
D. The robot will look into deep space for more waste.
10. What does Su Meng think of NEO-01 ?
A. It is promising and rewarding.
B. It has benefited the space industry.
C. It's a long way to produce it.
D. It'll help make money for the company.
11. What can be the best title for the text?
A. NEO-01 , A Smart Robot Used in Space
B. A Chinese Robot Can Catch Space Waste
C. A New Robot Makes China a SpacePower
D. NEO-01 , the Pioneer of Future Space Robots

Craig Blackburn, a father and car fan, built a Batmobile for his son’s hope for using the vehicle to brighten the lives of sick children. And now he hopes to use it for more than just his sons hope after seeing the childrens reaction to the Batmobile.
Based on the number of failures he had seen in car groups, he estimated that only about one in 50 attempted constructions was actually finished and he realized what an incredible opportunity he had.
Mr. Blackburn started the project at the beginning of 2018 after hearing a friend in the US was doing the same thing. It started with importing an outer shell overseas, before picking brains of a friend who had a background as a worker in a car factory to gain knowledge of how to build the car. With the help of his friend, Mr. Blackburn built the Batmobile in 18 months with the cost reaching six figures.
Mr.Blackburn hoped to add a flamethrower(喷火器)onto the back of the vehicle and said he had thought about building the more recent Batman Tumbler from the series film Dark Knight. Though Mr. Blackburn encountered plenty of difficulties to get over during the construction, in September 2019, the carmade its first show at the Carnival of Flowers in Toowoomba, before being used by Blackburn’s son for his hope.
“It was great. It was so good to see the kids’ and adults’ excitement at seeing the Batmobile.” Mr. Blackburn said. As a result, the car lovers hope to make the car work on the roads as soon as possible, so he can visit sick children and take them out with his son.
12. What is Craig Blackburn’s initial purpose of making the Batmobile?
A. To realize his son’s dream.
B. To donate it to sick children.
C. To pay his respects to the film Dark Knight.
D. To show off at the Carnival of Flowers in Toowoomba.
13. How did Blackburn feel about the car-making at first?
A. Hopeful.
B. Confused.
C. Impossible.
D. Unsure.
14. How did Blackburn’s friend help him?
A. By making an outer shell for him.
B. By offering him financial support.
C. By sharing the knowledge of building cars.
D. By telling him the background of the car factory.
15. What is the car lovers’ expectation of the Batmobile?
A. It will be driven soon on the roads.
B. It can be displayed around the world.
C. It can change the lives of sick children.
D. It will appear in the next film about Batman.
