In Act 3, Liu Mengmei wakes up from his dream and realizes that he must find a way to be with Du Liniang. He consults a Taoist priest who tells him that he must perform a ritual to bring Du Liniang back to life. Liu Mengmei performs the ritual and Du Liniang is resurrected.
Act 4。

In Act 4, Du Liniang and Liu Mengmei are finally able to be together. However, their happiness is short-lived as Du Liniang is summoned back to the afterlife. Liu Mengmei
is devastated by her loss but is comforted by the knowledge that they will be together again in the afterlife.
Conclusion。

The Peony Pavilion is a beautiful and touching play
