瑶族长鼓制作精细， 外形美观。鼓身呈长 筒形，长83厘米左右，
中腰细而实，两端粗而空，蒙以羊皮，通体彩绘日月、花 草或鸟兽等图饰，极富民族风格。
瑶族民间舞蹈中，《长鼓舞》最为著名。舞蹈者将鼓 斜挂腰侧，双手拍击，或左手执鼓中部，右手拍击，边击 边舞。长鼓既是伴奏乐器，又是舞蹈道具。每年农历10月 16日这天，人们便会如醉如痴地跳起长鼓舞。
