I was parked in front of the mall wiping off my car.I had just come from the car wash and was waiting for my wife to get out of work.
Coming my way from across the parking lot was what society would consider a bum. From the looks of him, he had no car, no home, no clean clothes, and no money. There are times when you feel generous but there are other times that you just don't want to be bothered. This was one of those "don't want to be bothered times"." I hope he doesn't ask me for any money," I thought.
He didn't.He came and sat on the edge of the pavement in front of the bus stop but he didn't look like he could have enough money to even ride the bus. After a few minutes he spoke.
"That's a very pretty car," he said.

I said, "thanks," and continued wiping off my car.He sat there quietly as I worked. The expected plea〔乞求〕 for money never came.As the silence between us widened, something inside said, "ask him if he needs any help." I was sure that he would say "yes" but I held true to the inner voice.
"Do you need any help?" I asked.
He answered in three simple words that I shall never forget. We often look for
wisdom in great men and women. We expect it from those of higher learning and achievements.I expected nothing but an outstretched dirty hand.He spoke the three words that shook me.
"Don't we all?" he said.

China news, Beijing, Feb. 9—Housing price in China has always aroused heated discussions among property developers and ordinary Chinese. To many property developers and local government officials, housing price in China is still low compared with many developed countries. However, the average housing price in the United States is only 8,000 Yuan per square meter, while in China, it is even higher than in the United States. This shows that there are some bubbles(泡沫) in Chinese real estate market, the International Finance News reported.
Although the average price of residential houses in the United States, after converted to Renminbi, is about 8,000 Yuan per square meter, the houses in US are not sold in terms of building area, as most Chinese property developers do when they sell their houses. If US property developers sell their houses according to the building area, then the housing price will be even lower than 8,000 Yuan per square meter. In most big Chinese cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, houses are sold at a price even higher than those in the US.
The high housing sales price in large cities in China proves that Chinese real estate market
does have some bubbles. Moreover, Chinese houses can not be compared with houses in US in terms of building quality, environment and supporting facilities. Furthermore, it should be noted that American people's average income is several dozen times higher than that of Chinese people. How can the Chinese afford to buy a house which is even more expensive than that sold in the US?
At the beginning of 2021, Chinese government issued a set of policies that aimed to benefit the public. Now in order to reduce the high housing prices, the government can regulate(控制) the real estate market by raising tax on property industry and controlling the release of loans and lands to property developers. At the same time, the government should allow people to build more houses through various fund-raising channels, such as funds collected from buyers or raised by working units. By applying these multiple means, it is expected that the high housing prices can be lowered.
60. According to the passage, what is the average housing price per square meter in China?
A.8000 Yuan B.10000 Yuan
C.7000 Yuan D.It's not mentioned here
61. Which of the following does NOT support the idea that the average housing price
in China is even higher than in the United States?
A. Chinese houses can not be compared with houses in the US in terms of building quality, environment and supporting facilities.
B. American people's average income is several dozen times higher than that of Chinese people.
C. The houses in the US are not sold in terms of building area, as most Chinese property developers do when they sell their houses.
D. There are more people who need houses in China.
62. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. The housing price in China is so high that the government should do something useful to prevent it.
B. There are some bubbles in Chinese real estate market.
C. The average housing price in China is even higher than in the US.
D. Chinese government issued a set of policies that aimed to benefit the public.

The parents of a troubled teen may feel unsure as to whom to turn to in order to find help for their child. They may feel as if they have exhausted all of their options, and sometimes they are on the verge of giving up. But there is hope. Schools for troubled teens offer discipline and in some cases, drug treatment programs that can provide important life skills, and more importantly, a fresh start.
The following is a list of the most effective types of schools for troubled teens. Not every facility is a match for every child, but by knowing the differences between them, parents can make a better educated decision about where to send their teenager.
Boarding Schools
When a child is unable to deal with the relative freedom of a standard school day, boarding schools might be a good choice. At boarding schools, the child lives in a dorm setting, where almost every minute of the day is scheduled by school administrators.
Treatment Centers
When a teenager has an addiction to drugs or alcohol, a residential center that specializes in young people is an outstanding way to help them break the cycle of
addiction. Treatment centers feature individual and group counseling to help identify the root causes of the drug problem and help develop the life skills needed to stay clean when the program is over.
Wilderness Programs
Designed to help improve the discipline and self-reliance of the child, wilderness programs send kids back to nature. By placing them in a foreign and sometimes uncomfortable setting, wilderness programs hope to improve children’s behavior. Programs generally include hikes, exercise programs and team building exercises.
Boot Camps
Boot camps are the most extreme style of school for troubled teens. These facilities are modeled after actual military boot camps, where the individual must get into shape, work as part of a team, and follow a long, hard set of rules and regulations. However, boot camps might not be the best choice for a teen with a drug addiction.
63. Who would be the intended readers of the passage?
A. Teachers.
B. Parents.
C. Students.
D. Experts.
64. As the author suggests schools for troubled teens______.
A. can be a good choice for some desperate parents
B. are becoming more and more popular with teens in trouble
C. can completely change troubled teens
D. care more about discipline than life skills
65. According to the passage, boarding schools_____.
A. provide children with more freedom
B. have their students’ time managed carefully
C. pay much attention to team building exercises
D. can make children feel safer
66. What’s the purpose of this passage?
A. To introduce schools for troubled teens.
B. To show some problems of troubled teens.
C. To teach parents how to educate their children.
D. To remind parents to care for their children.
D
Cells were discovered in 1665 by Robert Hooke when he took a piece of cork and looked at it under a microscope. Cork is made up of dead cells but you are still able to see the cells which proved to be interesting to him. He described it as being made of something, just like a wall is made of bricks. He then called those bricks “cells〞. Due to the size of cells, it is nearly impossible to see them without the aid of a light microscope, but by using an electron microscope you’d be able to see cells in much greater detail.
There’s a cell theory which is made up of four basic ideas. First, cells are the building blocks of life. Second, cells are derived from other cells by division.
Third, cells contain DNA (the blueprint for life). Fourth, the cell is the functioning unit of life, and the chemical reactions of life take place within cells.
There are two types of cells, animal cells and plant cells. Plant cells differ from animal cells in many ways. Plant cells have a large central vacuole(液泡), with the nucleus(细胞核) nearer to the side of the cell instead of in the middle like in animal cells. Another big difference is that plant cells can produce and store sugar as starch(淀粉) while animal cells contain glycogen(糖原).
It’s noteworthy to mention that a cell cannot survive without the nucleus whi ch acts as a type of control center; it runs the cells. The nucleus contains DNA, which in turn contains the cell’s genes. These genes tell the cell how to grow. DNA contains the genetic blueprint that tells if you have blonde hair and blue eyes.
67. What does the underlined word “it〞 in Paragraph 1 probably refer to?
A. The microscope.
B. The cork.
C. The wall
D. The cell.
68. We can learn from the first paragraph that______.
A. electron microscopes are more advanced than light microscopes
B. it is impossible to observe dead cells than light microscopes
C. Robert Hooke invented the first microscope
D. Robert Hooke was more interested in microscopes than cells
69. Which of the following statement is TRUE?
A. Plants cells can store more energy than animal cells.
B. Plant cells have a nucleus in the center.
C. Animal cells are bigger than plant cells.
D. Animals cells have a nucleus in the center.
70. The passage was written mainly to______.
A. introduce different microscopes
B. tell the differences between animal cells and plant cells
C. introduce basic knowledge of cells
D. tell how to observe cells with the right tools
第二节〔一共5小题;每一小题3分,满分是15分〕
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项里面选出能填入空白处的最正确选项。
选项里面有两项为多余选项。
Bitterness in sibling(兄弟姐妹) relationships is common. 71 It can be due to one performing better at school or receiving more love and attention from their parents than the other. Effort should be put in by both parents and children to prevent sibling jealousy from occurring.
For children:
Talk it out with your parents.
Rather than brooding(计较) over the issue and letting jealousy affect your day, talk about everything with your parents. 72 .Be calm and also understand your parents.
Consider it as an opportunity.
We all get jealousy and there is nothing wrong with it. It is a human emotion and it depends on us how to deal with it, positively or negatively. Learn to deal
with negative emotions in a positive manner. 73 . Try to improve yourself by competing with your sibling, which especially applies to your study.
For parents:
Keep fairness in mind.
Dealing with fighting kids could be called the toughest task for parents.
74 . Jealousy often occurs when children feel that their parents are not giving adequate love to them and are favoring the other kid. So do not accuse or scold a single child every time. Scold both of them equally, avoid comparison, and be fair.
75
Positive competition should be encouraged between siblings. For example, if your elder kid is performing very well and the younger one is not as good as him, only spending time doing useless things, what you can do is to encourage the younger one
to look up to the elder one as a role model.
A. Love your sibling.
B. Encouraging healthy competition between kids.
C. Look on the jealousy as a self-improvement measure.
D. Parents should try not to favor a specific child all the time.
E. He or she is the one with whom you have shared your childhood.
F. There are many reasons that can make a child jealous of his/her sibling.
G. Tell your parents that you would appreciate it if they could recognize your work too.

One possible version:
Saving the Wounded Bird
One Saturday afternoon, Li Hua and Wang Ping, members from "Green Eyes", were
having an environmental protection activity near the riverside when they caught
sight of a bird on the ground. They picked it up and found it wounded.
Thinking it might die without timely help, they took it home. They made a nest
for it and fed it with rice and water. Under their treatment and care, the lucky
bird got recovered soon. When time came for them to fly the bird back to nature,
they felt a bit pity but very delighted.
I think it's worthwhile for them to do such a thing. Here I call on the public
to show respect to nature. Only by changing the way we treat the environment can
we get along well with it.

W: $30 a month. But that’s just enough for snacks. You know, I have to buy some records for music lessons, which cost at least $18.
M: Anyway, I think you should apologize to your mother an promise you’ll work hard. After all, that’s for you own good.

W: It’s 5:00, time for home. Bill, where are you going to celebrate Valentine’s Day?
M: Valentine’s Day? Oh, I nearly forgot it. Daisy, to tell the truth, I don’t like Valentine’s Day.
W: Why? Most young people like it, especially those who are in love.
M: But you know, at such time I will have to think hard what to buy for my girlfriend. W: That’s really a problem. Nowadays, traditional gifts such as chocolate and flowers don’t appeal to some girls.
M: Yes. I gave Julia red roses last year, but she didn’t like them at all.
W: You can buy some jewellery for a change. Diamonds, for example.
M: That sounds great. I’m going to pick one for her now, and then I will invite Julia out for dinner.

W: Well, let’s just have a look at what positi ons are available at the moment. Er…there’s a job at the Sports Centre for three evenings week—Wednesday, Thursday。
