Teaching Aims
1. Study this lesson and know the way how learn foreign languages Karl Marx.
2. The students are trained to improve their reading ability and comprehension.
Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Pre-reading activity
Let the students talk about the picture and say something about Karl Marx.
Step 2 Fast reading
1. Ask the students, to read the text quickly and do some True or False questions according to the text:
(1) Karl Marx was horn in Belgium. (F)
(2) He was forced to leave his homeland when he was young. (T)
(3) Marx made such rapid progress in English that Engels telephoned him and praised him for it. (F)
(4) Marx was good at learning foreign languages. (T)

Step 3 Intensive reading
1. Listen to the tape.
2. Answer the questions in Workbook Lesson 82, Part 1.
Step 4 Deal with some difficult sentences
1. He made such rapid progress that before long he began to write articles it English for an American newspaper.

Describing Clothes
Step 1. Revision
1. Greetings. Talk with students about their weekends or holidays. Go over the language they learned about planning a trip.
2. Check their homework.
Step 2. Listen, talk, discuss and learn.
1. Have the students look at the people on their books. Make sure they can catch each word about clothes. Then, ask them to match the clothes the people wearing with the labels. Check their work.
2. Play the tape. Have them listen carefully to catch how the people in the picture describing their clothes. Writing down the new words and phrases on the blackboard if there’s any. Name each person according to what they hear.

Step 1 Listening
Have Ss listen to a piece of music and tell what kind of musical instrument the music is played with.
Step 2 Brainstorming
Have Ss tell as many kinds of musical instrument as possible by asking the question: What other kinds of musical instrument do you know? T collects kinds of musical instrument: organ, harp, piano, maracas, violin, saxophone, gone, cymbals, castanets, flute, timpani, tambourine, triangle, drum, xylophone, etc.
Step 3 Creating a situation (textual authenticity)
Have Ss work together with his\her partner. Take turns asking for and giving advice.

Step 4 Listening
Listen to the sample dialogue and make sure what the dialogue is about.
Step 5 Practice
Practice reading the dialogue, using one of the names of musical instrument mentioned above to replace CD and paying attention to sentences of asking for and giving advice.

Have Ss choose one from the following situations to create their own dialogue.
