Teaching Objectives

Teaching Focus
1. To master some expressions about food description;
2. To learn how to describe food by appealing to five senses.

Teaching Procedure
Step 1: Opening up
Group discussion
Step 2: Pre–listening activity
Tell the students that they will have a group discussion on how to describe their favorite local food and play a guessing game to figure out what the food is.
Step 3: Listening to the world
1. Know the new words;
2. Learn to understand holidays;
3. Listen for comparison.
Step 4: Post-listening activity
Tell the students that they will have a group discussion on how to introduce their hometown by comparison.
1. Divide the students into a group of 4 and ask them to introduce their hometown based on chart 1 in their own group (10 minutes);
2. Teach the students about comparatives used by people in their daily communication based on P.78 (10 minutes);
3. Require the students in each group to have a pair work and fill the chart 2 (10 minutes);
4. Select some students to report their work in front of the class based on Chart 2 in front of the class (10 minutes);
5. Give feedback to the students’ report (5 minutes);
6. Assign each student to write a paper about hometown promotion after class based on chart 1 and chart 2 (5 minutes).

Assignment
1. Assign each group to make PPT for local food promotion;
