一般过去时的用法
1. 概念：一般过去时表示在过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态，常与表示过去的时间状语连用，如：long long ago, one day，yesterday, just now , last night, three days ago等。

2. 动词过去式的构成：
(1) be动词在一般过去时中的变化：am/ is→ was, are →were。

(2) 规则动词过去式的变化规则：
①一般在动词末尾加-ed，如：point-pointed，shout-shouted。

②以不发音的e结尾的动词直接加-d，如：like-liked, live-lived。

③以辅音字母加y结尾的动词，变y为i，再加-ed，如：study-studied, carry –carried。

④末尾只有一个辅音字母的重读闭音节，先双写这个辅音字母再加-ed，如：stop-stopped; shop-shopped。

3. 过去式“-ed”的发音规则：
(1) 动词词尾为清辅音时，发/ t / 音，
如：help →helped; laugh →laughed ; look →looked
(2) 动词词尾为t，d以外之浊辅音或元音时，发/ d 音，
如：call →called ; stay → stayed; live →lived
(3) 动词词尾为“t，d”时，发/ id /音，
如：want →wanted; need →needed; visit →visited
