Teaching plan
Oxford English 8B Module 3 Unit 6 Travel
Reading: France is calling
Material: Oxford English 8B Module 3 Unit 6 France is calling
Teacher:王偲虹(Olivia Wang)
I. Unit position and analysis of the teacning material
The topic for this unit is travel. The Reading “France is calling” is a newspaper article about the attractions of France as a tourist attraction. So the contents of this passage are rich and very practical. Teachers can easily stimulate students’ desire to express themselves. It is helpful to set a situation and design various missions for students to complete by practising, communicating, cooperating and exploring.
II. The analysis of the students
There exists great gaps among students in Class2 Grade8. I planned to give a variety of tasks (solely on the written words, with visual support, in group work, in
pair work and so on)to meet the needs of different students. What’s more, students in Grade 8 are not willing to express themselves actively like before. So there will be a competition throughout the lesson to stimulate their interests. In addition, most of the students have the basic skills of listening and reading. However, they are not good at speaking mostly because t hey are shy and afraid of making mistakes although they have adequate vocabulary and expressions. Thus, I planned pair work and group work to encourage students to communicate more.
III. Learning objectives:
At the end of this period, students are expected to
1. review words learnt in last lesson and get to know the new expressions as well as some names of landmarks.
