Step 2 Lead- in

2) Have a discussion: a) How to rent a shared bike?
b) Why do people choose to use shared bikes instead of cars or buses?
3) Introduce Amsterdam briefly.
Step 3 Reading for outline
Ask the students to read the first and last sentence of each paragraph to get the outline.
Match the headings with the paragraphs.
Step 4 Reading for details
1) Read paragraph 1 and answer the question:
Why is Amsterdam a good city for cycling?
2) Read paragraph 2 and answer the questions:
a) Who came up with the good idea?
b) Why?
c) What did they do?
d) Who was allowed to use the bikes?
e) Where to park the bikes?
f) Why did it fail?
3) Read paragraph3 and find out the differences between the white bikes in the

To arouse the students’interest in the lesson, employing different teaching methods is of great importance. It’s rather challenging to appeal to all the students, but in this period, I have tried my best to mobilize them to be involved into the process of learning. Just as the saying goes, tell me and I forget: teach me and I remember: involve me and I learn.
It is safe to say that when the students hold various opinions they are more eager to communicate with each other. That is to say, in order to arouse their urge to engage in the task or activity, the teacher should lead the students to think in other ways, or even from the opposite position. It is during the fierce arguing and debating that the students digest the knowledge best.。
