27 w orld r ecords w ere b roken d uring t he 2016 S ummer O lympics. T hey f ell i n s wimming, running, weightlifting and a number of other sports. But how do athletes continue to
get better, jump longer, run or swim faster? Although scientists say that athletes
have reached their limits, records continue to fall. In almost every sport athlete
have become better since the Olympic Games began.
One reason is that more and more people than ever before have access to sports and exercise. They start at an early age and can compete longer in their sport. In schools
more and more natural talents can be discovered.
Besides, athletes can train full-time instead of training after work. As medicine improves, athletes can stay in competition for a longer time and overcome injuries faster. Many top athletes achieve their best results later on in their careers. Technology has also helped improve the scores.
One of the most important reasons, however, is the human mind. We always want to be better and faster than someone else. It can release great power in our body.
So, where are the limits? One of the most difficult questions to answer is how fast
a human being can run. Many years ago, nobody thought a person could even run under
10 seconds in the 100-meter race. But the record was broken at the 1963 Mexico City Olympics. At the moment Usain Bolt is the fastest man on Earth at 9.58 seconds. Scientists say that 9.48 may be the limit, but, who knows, some runner will one day
run in under 9 seconds.
46. The underlines words “have access to” mean ________.
A.推广
B.接触
C.回避
D.放弃
47. What can we know from the passage?
A. The younger the athletes are, the better their achievements.
B. Athletes’natural talent is the most important thing.
C. Athletes have longer career than before.
D. Athletes have fewer injuries than before.
48. What does the passage mainly talk about?
A. How fast can humans run?

One possible version:
Many literature works are made into movies at present. people have different ideas
about whether to choose the movie or the original novels. Some people say the movie
is better. They think it takes less time to get to know the whole story. Besides, the
movie is usually easier to understand and more interesting than the original novel.
But other people don’t agree. They think they can get more detailed information
by reading the original novels. And the language in the book makes the story lively.
As for me, I prefer to read the original novels. Because I can understand the
writer’s ideas better by reading novels than watching movies.

Here is some good news. We have some free cinema tickets for you. They usually cost 5 pounds. They are for a film called The Elephant Doctor. It’s about a man who works
in a zoo and looks after the animals when they aren’t well. It’s a great film for
all the family. All you have to do to get free tickets is to send your name and address
on a postcard to Radio South-east in Bristol. The address is 27 Argyll Road. Send your postcard soon. Make sure it arrives before next Sunday. That’s the 30th of July. And we’ll choose the 25 winners then. We have 100 tickets to give away. But I’m afraid
we can only give 4 tickets to each family. And we’ll send everybody who writes to
us a book. It is about the film and has pictures of the actor and the animals in it. So send the postcard now.。
