Book Summary (Robinson Crusoe) This term I read a novel which is called Robinson Crusoe. It is written by an English author who is named Daniel Defoe. It is one of the most popular adventure novels all over the world. The novel mainly tells us an Englishman who named Robinson was shipwrecked in a lonely tropical island. In order to survive, he built himself a house, grew his own corn, and fed his own poultry. Then he met with a group of cannibals and rescued one of their prisoners who he calls Friday. Crusoe and Friday become close friends, and they were finally rescued four years later and returned to England. In my opinion, there is no doubt that there is no perfect life in our world, it will always be difficult, but what we can do is to try our best to change our life to make it perfect. On account of the novel, when we are in difficulties, we may be confused, have fear, have complained even in despaired, but the most important thing what we should keep in mind is "Never give up. " When we face difficulties, we must have faith in ourselves, never give up and do our best, just like what Robinson did. As an old saying goes, if you don't experience wind and rain, how can you see rainbow. In time of despair, we shouldn't complain about the tribulation of life. We should deal with difficulties just like Robinson? All in all, only if we have faith in ourselves, will we love our lives and do our best to make lives more beautiful!。

This book report is written for Jessica and the reading course. The book, whose title is Robinson Crusoe, is written by Daniel Defoe. The book has 313 pages and the publisher is Shanghai Translation Publishing House. It’s the first edition of the story in 2012. The reasons why I choose Robinson Crusoe to read are these as follows : One of the reasons is that I have seen several parts of the film of this book before, but I haven’t seen the book, I want to read the book and find some things may be different from the movie. Another reason is the life that the main character had when he was on the island really interested me.In my opinion, the main characters in the novel are Robinson Crusoe and Friday.I consider Robinson Crusoe as the main character. On the one hand, the novel was written by the view of Robinson, what the novel told us are all about Crusoe’s experience from the beginning to the end. For another hand, many good qualities can be seen from Crusoe, he is worth learning. I consider Friday as another main character is because Friday did many things for Crusoe faithfully, he was helpful and useful to Crusoe. The English captain, who helpfully brought Crusoe to Guinea, taught Crusoe some things that were needful. And Crusoe increased very considerably by the disinterested honesty of him. The English captain’s widow, who was as honest as the captain, loyally helped Crusoe keep the left 200 pounds. Xury, a slave that escaped from the Moorish captors with Crusoe, was sold to the Portuguese captain by Crusoe at last. The Portuguese captain saved Crusoe and took him to Brazil, then he helped Crusoe with Crusoe’s business. The novel is a narration telling stories about events that incredibly happened to Robinson Crusoe. He is the main character of the novel. It was happened in the 17 century in Britain, but it also involved other parts of the world, such as Brazil, Guinea and other unknown islands. It told us that Robinson Crusoe was trying to realize his dream of going to sea. In the end, Crusoe went to the island on which he spent 28 years again after returning to Britain. My final ideas on “Jane Eyre” are that it is really a wonderful story though I can not pretty sure that I have understood all parts of it. I like the book, for it states a kindof life which is so different and hardly imaged by us. It’s logical and fascinating. It makes us think deeply about a topic, which is about family and following our dreams. At the same time, I dislike some of Crusoe’s behaviors that made Friday as his own slave without obeying the principle of equal. However, it’s a common phenomenon at that time and it still has some good points. For example, Crusoe hated the unenlightened phenomenon that people ate each other on the island, it reflects human’s civilization and progress, it enlightens us to be the people who stress on decorum; It also tells us that we should learn to be independent; We can learn to be the people who are grateful for other’s help by Crusoe, etc. After reading the book, I learn that the art of living is to know when to hold fast and when to let go from Crusoe. In order to following his heart and dream, Crusoe is willing to give up his comfortable and carefree life. And he finally realizes his dream by his wise choice. In my opinion, the book is so worth reading that I will recommend it to others.。
A Book Report of Robinson Crusoe
A Book Report of Robinson CrusoeThe Robinson Crusoe I have read is a fiction about 247 pages, written by Daniel Defoe who is an English novelist, pamphleteer, journalist, and considered to be the founder of the English novel. The book was first published in 1719 which tells a story of a young explorer who becomes marooned on a deserted island, living for 28 years before he was rescued. The story takes place in the 1700s on a deserted island somewhere off the coast of Brazil. The main character in the book is a young man among the capitalist class named Robinson Crusoe. Rejecting the counsel of his father, Robinson sets out for a life of adventure. He goes through more than one before he is finally cast ashore on an island. Then the bulk of the novel focuses on Robinson’s life on the island —how he accomplishes his survival and even establishes his "kingdom"; how he adjusts himself well to the situation; how he meets and rescues Friday and, finally, how he leaves the island.First, I’d like to talk about the perspective. The whole story is written in the first person narrative which is simple, informal and extremely easy to understand. And I’m especially appreciated the experiences on the island which is written in a form of diary, because it is much easier and clearer for the readers to follow.Second, here are my views about the theme. The story focuses on the topic of survival, religion, colony and race and class relations. I’m deeply impressed by the survival topic. Although nature can change the way a man thinks and his outlook on life, human being can take control of it and shape it the way you need and survive well in it. Last but least, I’d like to present my points on characters. Defoe does an excellent job of introducing the character, especially the main character. From his description, I think that Robison Crusoe is a man has a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. He is a hero with the disposition of confidence, self-respect, and independence. He is a pioneer and founder with honesty, wisdom, and strong will.In conclusion, it’s a prevailing book about a man’s survival in a deserted island in order to show capitalist class’s spirit of creating and opening up. I’m firmly recommended it.。

Book Report of Robinson CrusoeRobinson Crusoe was born in the year 1632,his father was rich and wished him to learn laws. But Robinson wanted only to voyage. One day,Robinson went to Hull, where he met his companion who was going to London in his father's ship and prompted him to go with them.Robinson agreed without any consideration. However, the ship ran across a terrible storm,Robinson was almost frightened to death,he swore to himself,if the God gave him a chance to land safely,he would immediately return to his parent and follow all of their suggestions. But when the storm was over,Robinson forgot his pledge. He had several more voyages after that until one day when he went to the Africa to peddle negro slaves, unfortunately, his ship split on a rock and all the sailors and passengers died except him.All Crusoe's possessions were a knife,a pipe and some tobaccos. When Robinson built up his strength,he walked around the island,to his surprise,he found a creek, which could provide him with pure water.the next morning, his broken ship was pushed to near the shore by the waves,Robinson swam to the ship and found a lot of useful things on it,including bread, rice, sugar, wood,a hammer, several hatchets and many kinds of weapons, such as handguns, hunting guns.A lot of gold coins were also found, but to Robinson, the gold coins are useless,he would rather something cheap but functional.Anyway, with the essential things,Robinson continued to live a common life on the island for manyyear. One morning,Robinson saw several uncivilized people who were going eat the capture they had caught.Robinson was so irritated that he decided to kill all the uncivilized people.finally,Robinson saved the capture and named him'Friday' because the capture was saved on Friday.Robinson taught him to speak English and behave mildly.Friday devoted himself to studying English. Before long,Friday can chat with Robinson in English fluently, which gave Robinson a great comfort.Several year later,a British ship came to an anchor because the sailors madetrouble.Robinson and Friday help the captain to solve the problem.as a return, the captain took Robinson to his hometown. At last,Robinson married and had three kids. After reading Robinson Crusoe I was moved deeply by its leading character Robinson. We can learn a lot from him,for example, tough situations are common in our daily life, but we should not show the white feather, just think about the difficulties that Robinson met and have a positive attitude towards our life.As we all know,"Where there is a will, there is a way."What's more,Robinson Crusoe was born in a rich family, but he did not choose to live an easy and comfortable life as his parent told him to,on the contrary,he spent almost all of his life in realizing his dream, this is another advantage that we should learn from Robinson Crusoe, that is to say, when facing with difficulties,we should have enough confidence to overcome them.In addition,Robinson are not afraid of failure,he looked on the failure as experience, his outstanding character benefited him a lot.Robinson was brave,he explored the island alone and foundmany kinds of animals, such as sea turtles, pigeons, goats and so on,which could be served as food.Nowadays, many children grow up with their parents' protection, usually,as long as they meet difficulties, they will turn to their parents for help without hesitation, what if this kind of children are deserved on the island on which Robinson Crusoe lived for twenty eight years?Robinson Crusoe, written by Daniel Defoe, published by Shanghai Global Book Publishing Company for the fifth time in March,2006.。
A Book Report of Robinson Crusoe
A Book Report of Robinson CrusoeHave you ever wondered what you would do if you were the only person on a desert island? How many days can you survive? Day or days? Daniel Defoe dramatizes such an experience in Robinson Crusoe, an adventure story about a man named Robinson Crusoe who is stranded on a desert island for 28 years. This book is one of the forerunners of the English realistic novel, which is based on a real experience of Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish castaway who lived four years on the Pacific island. Defoe develops the sailor's story with his own imagination. As the struggle of man vs. nature and man vs. man is so interesting to read, I keep my attention on the story until the very end. As a bourgeois writer, Daniel Defoe shows his ideas about the rising bourgeois class in his book. He creates the image of Robinson Crusoe, a typical of the rising English bourgeois class in the 18th century. Robinson Crusoe is a practical, diligent and religious person with a restless curiosity to know more about the world. He is never content with his current life and he is longing for adventures. All his characters indicate the bourgeoisie's dissatisfactions with their situations at that time and their desires for extension in the world. Another thing delivering through the whole story is individualism. With the influence of the Renaissance and the Industrial Revolution, more and more people are beinginterested in individualism, especially the bourgeois class. And from the story of Robinson Crusoe, we can see his desire to prove individual power in the face of social and natural challenges. Although his bad luck puts him alone on a desolate island, he doesn't lose his belief to survive. Alone on the island, Robinson Crusoe overcomes many difficulties: hunger, loneliness, the fight against disease etc. Of course he is only an ordinary person and he also has fears and gets puzzled at the beginning. We can see that he is in despair and questiones himself "Why did God put me on this island all alone ?" But later he gets out of despair and does all he can to find out ways to provide himself with residence, food, and tools. He salvages things from a wrecked ship and makes full use of them. Just as the proverb says, "God helps those who help themselves". With great will and strength, Robinson Crusoe creates for himself a kingdom by taming animals, gathering fruit, growing crops, and hunting. He also makes a calendar to remind himself of the world. It is his marvelous capacity for work, his boundless courage and energy in overcoming obstacles that make him a hero. And in the story, Daniel Defoe also sings the praises of human labour, presenting it as the source of pride and happiness as well as a means to change man's living conditions. However, Daniel Defoe also beautifies colonialism and slavery in the story., which I think isthe limitation of his class and the times. Obviously, Robinson Crusoe is a colonist. For example he puts up a sign as his landing monument after he sets foot on the island. He also thinks he owns Friday's life and wants Friday to be obedient just because he saves Friday and gives Friday a name as a man. Moreover, Robinson Crusoe's adventures are not only for survival, but also for occupancy of wealth and land. All in all, it's no wonder that Robinson Crusoe is a successful realistic novel. On one hand, it glorifies the individualism and tells a story of ordinary people in plain and simple language; on the other hand, it shows a vivid and positive picture of he rising English bourgeois class at its early stage of development.。

Reading Robinson Crusoe , I like Robinson very much .Although his father wishes him to become a lawyer, Crusoe dreams of going on sea voyages. Ignoring father’s cautions, he runs away and slight misfortune happens in a row. He always gets through by his readiness and ingenuity.on a lonely island ,and then, out of the available resources salvaged from the ship and with what he could get from the desert island, he managed with his industriousness and knack to create an environment for himself-first sheltered himself against the wind and rain, defended himself against the possible attacks of wild animals, then built a house, grew barley and rice, domesticated goats, fought against cannibal savages coming from neighbouring islands, later rescued one savage named Friday from death and made him his servant, built a boat, and lived not uncomfortably on the lonely island for 28 years, then saved from death Friday’s father and a Spaniard and became the leader or master of the whole group, and finally saved the captain of an English ship from the mutineers and returned to England on that ship. When I meet with troubles and difficulties ,the image of Robinson comes into my mind ,I should learn from him,I think.

Your reflections on the book.(at least 300 words)字数:100~500 满分:100A Book ReportThe book about Robinson Crusoe was a masterpiece of Daniel. Defoe, which is a famous English writer, journalist and pamphleteer. His father was a small business man. Then he selected the business at first. Besides, he travels widely, with selling underwear, alcohol and tobacco, wool fabrics, brick industry early. At the same time, he also engaged in political activities. When he became old and weak, his children abandoned him, then Daniel. Defoe died miserably in 1731.However, his novels were written in his lateryears. His works have played a huge role in the development of British and European novels. Therefore, Daniel. Defoe was called "The Father of English and European Novel".Robinson Crusoe, Defoe's first novel, was published in 1719. The story was based on a sailor, Alexander Selkirk's true experience. Defoe inspired by this true story to written the "Robinson Crusoe". Robinson Crusoe, the main character, was born in a rich family. His parents have great expectations for him, hoping him to become a lawyer and live a comfortable life. However, Crusoe abandoned himself to adventure, setting his mind to make his living by going to the sea. He thought nothing could be more fantastic than adventure and creation in the world, and without this, life would be meaningless. Attracted by the outside world and the expansive sea, Crusoe went to the sea several times. Each time, after going through such hardship, Crusoe determined to return to his parents and never does thatagain. However, due to his dissatisfaction of the ordinary life and his curiosity of the vast sea, Crusoe decided to have a sea journey again. Unfortunately, one time the shipwreck made Crusoe come to a desolate island, where he lived for 28 years. The main idea of this book is to show the quality of diligence as well as the indomitable spirit of labor. After reading Robinson Crusoe, I was deeply moved by Crusoe for his strong will and positive attitude towards the hardship and towards the tough life. For one thing, As Albert Einstein said, "Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character". I will choose to have inspiring, positive thoughts instead of depressing, negative thoughts. Provided that Crusoe dropped himself when he came to the deserted island because he didn't know to do anything, the only result is that he would die directly. A positive attitude is the motivation of doing anything. For another thing, just as the saying goes:" Where there is a will, there is a way". Due to his hard work and exploring spirit, also his willpower and optimism, Crusoe accomplished a lot and got great ability. Let us bear this motto in mind no matter how much thunders and thorns there are on our road ahead, and then we will be successful with such precious and powerful spirit. In short, a positive attitude is of the greatest importance in our life.。

鲁滨逊漂流记一至三章读后感英文版
鲁滨逊漂流记一至三章读后感英文版全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1Robinson Crusoe Book Report (Chapters 1-3)I just finished reading the first three chapters of Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe and I have to say, it's a pretty wild story so far! Robinson is a young man who goes against his parents' wishes and becomes a sailor. His life takes a crazy turn when he gets shipwrecked and ends up as the only survivor on a deserted island. In the first chapter, we learn about how Robinson was born into a good family, but was obsessed with the idea of going to sea from a young age. His father really didn't want him to become a sailor because he thought it was too dangerous. He tried giving Robinson all kinds of advice about staying home and getting a job on land, but Robinson wouldn't listen. He was determined to sail the seas no matter what. When Robinson was 18, he finally got the chance to go on a ship heading for London. His family was really upset, especially his mother who cried a lot, but Robinson didn't care. He was justexcited to finally be setting sail! However, the voyage didn't go as planned. They got caught in a terrible storm and were actually attacked by a pirate ship from Sallee! The crew fought back, but it was no use against the pirates' canons. Robinson and a few others were captured and taken to Morocco to be sold as slaves. So much for his dream adventure! In the second chapter, Robinson tells us all about his harrowing two years as a slave. He had to do backbreaking labor on farms, barely got any food, and was treated terribly by his master. Finally, Robinson got a chance to escape with a boy named Xury who was also a slave. They made a crazy escape, rowing a small boat across the sea until they were picked up by a Portuguese ship captain. The captain was a nice guy who paid for Robinson and Xury's freedom.Robinson decided to join the captain's crew and sailed with him for several years. During this time, he learned a lot about navigation and being a merchant sailor. After a while, the captain offered for Robinson to be part of a money-making trading voyage to the coast of Guinea in Africa. Robinson jumped at the chance, dreaming of finally striking it rich. That brings us to the third chapter, where the trading voyage gets underway. It started out fine, but then they ran into a bunchof scary issues. First, some of the sailors got sick. Then, they got caught in another crazy storm that nearly sank their ship. Robinson thought for sure he was going to die in the raging winds and towering waves. But the storm passed, leaving their ship a wreck. They decided to head for the Caribbean to make repairs, but more disaster struck. The ship sprung a leak and began taking on water. No matter how hard they bailed, the ship kept sinking lower and lower into the sea. With no other choice, the captain gave the order to head for the nearest land in the ship's boats to prevent them all from drowning. Little did Robinson know, this decision would lead to him becoming the only survivor stranded on a remote island in the middle of nowhere! So that's where the story leaves off for now at the end of chapter 3. I'm really hooked and can't wait to find out what happens next to poor Robinson. Will he be able to survive alone on the island? How will he find food, water, and shelter? Will any ships come to rescue him or is he doomed to be a real-life castaway? I'll have to keep reading to discover Robinson's ultimate fate. This book has been such an exciting page-turner so far. The nonstop action and Robinson's perseverance in the face of onelife-threatening crisis after another is really gripping. My favorite part was his daring escape from slavery - that was like a real-life adventure movie! I felt so bad for him having his dreams of sailing turn into a nightmare when he was first captured by those pirates. But Robinson never gave up and kept pursuing his ambitions no matter what obstacles stood in his way.I think the reason this story is so engaging is because it makes you wonder what you would do if you were in Robinson's shoes. Could I muster up enough courage, skills, and determination to survive being shipwrecked all alone? It's a chilling scenario to think about. The book really makes you appreciate modern life and not take basic things like food, shelter, and company for granted.Overall, I'm giving Robinson Crusoe 5 out of 5 stars based on these first three chapters. Between the high seas adventures, clashes with pirates, enslavement, and now being marooned - it's nonstop thrills! The writing has also been really vivid, so it's easy to picture everything happening in my mind. I can't wait to read the rest and see how Robinson fares while stranded. I have a feeling more exciting adventures and challenges await him on that mysterious island! I'd absolutely recommend this classicnovel to anyone who loves action, adventure, and tales of perseverance against the odds.篇2Robinson Crusoe: Chapters 1-3Robinson Crusoe is a really exciting adventure book by Daniel Defoe. The first three chapters are all about how Robinson gets shipwrecked and lands up on a deserted island. It's a crazy story! In Chapter 1, we learn that Robinson's father didn't want him to go sailing and have adventures on the high seas. His father gave him a serious talk about how it was better to stay home and live a simple, middle-class life in England. But Robinson didn't listen - he had his heart set on being a sailor and seeing the world. So against his parents' wishes, Robinson took off on a ship when he was 18 years old. On his first voyage, the ship got caught in a huge storm and he thought he was going to die! Luckily, the ship made it safely back to port in England. But that didn't stop Robinson's thirst for adventure. As soon as he could, he signed up for another long sea voyage on a different ship.In Chapter 2, we find out that the second ship Robinson sailed on also encountered storms and was chased by pirates! After barely escaping with his life, Robinson decided to stay on land for a while in Brazil, where he became a wealthy plantation owner. I thought that was pretty cool how he made a fortune growing crops and stuff in the jungle. But after a few years, Robinson got that old itch for sailing again. I guess he was just born to be an explorer! So in Chapter 3, he joined a crew heading across the Atlantic Ocean to purchase enslaved Africans (which I know now is extremely wrong and cruel). Their ship got caught in another crazy storm though. This time, the ship was totally destroyed. The chapters ends with Robinson being thrown into the churning sea by a gigantic wave. He managed to grab a piece of the ship's wreckage to float on, but had no idea where he was or if he'd ever see land again. I was on the edge of my seat reading this! I can't wait to find out what happens to poor Robinson stranded out in the middle of the ocean. Will he drown or make it to safety? I have to keep reading to see.Even though Robinson doesn't always make the best choices by disobeying his parents and getting involved in the slave trade, I can understand why he yearned for adventure. Staying coopedup in one place would be super boring for me too. I love reading about his thrilling experiences and all the dangers he faces out on the high seas. The story has definitely inspired my own dreams of going on an epic voyage someday!I think these first few chapters also teach some good lessons about being grateful for what you have. Every time Robinson thinks he's finally settled down to a comfortable life, he risks it all to seek out more fortune and glory. And his reckless decisions keep landing him in life-or-death situations at sea. It makes me appreciate things like my warm house, safety, family, and not having to fight off pirates! The writing by Daniel Defoe is so descriptive too. I could vividly picture all the fierce storms, splintered ships, roaring waves, and terrified sailors. My heart was pounding during the most intense action scenes! Defoe does a great job of making you feel like you're right there experiencing the incredible adventures of Robinson Crusoe.Overall, I'm totally hooked on this classic book so far. While Robinson doesn't always make the smartest choices, it's hard not to get caught up in the excitement and danger of his travels. I give the first three chapters a 5 out of 5 stars and can't wait to see what other crazy adventures and challenges Robinson willface now that he's stranded alone on a deserted island. This story of survival is sure to be epic!篇3Robinson Crusoe Book Report (Chapters 1-3)I just finished reading the first three chapters of the book Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, and I have to say, it's a pretty wild adventure so far! The story follows a guy named Robinson Crusoe who decides to become a sailor against his parents' wishes. That was kind of a bummer move if you ask me, but I guess he really wanted to see the world. In the first chapter, we learn that Robinson's dad actually wanted him to be a lawyer or something boring like that. But Robinson had a serious case of wanderlust and couldn't stop dreaming about sailing on ships to far away places. One day he just up and left home to become a sailor, which I imagine did not make his parents too happy. Still, he didn't seem to care much about their objections. The second chapter describes Robinson's first sea voyage to London. It was really dangerous and scary! There was a huge storm that almost sank their ship. Robinson says he was so terrified that he regretted disobeying his parents and wished hehad just stayed home like they wanted. But then the storm passed and he pretty much forgot all about being scared once they reached London safely.Once in London, Robinson signed up for another voyage to coast of Guinea in Africa. This time there was another terrible storm that lasted for weeks! The ship was battered by high winds and huge waves. Some of the crew even abandoned ship because they thought they were all going to die. But miraculously, the storm ended and Robinson's ship managed to limp along to the coast of Guinea. Man, this Robinson guy just could not catch a break with these crazy storms! In the third chapter, we find out that after reaching Guinea, Robinson joined another ship's crew that was sailing across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. I was like "Dude, Robinson, learn your lesson already! Stop tempting fate by going on these long voyages!" But nope, he just kept on sailing into danger.Sure enough, after leaving the coast of Africa, Robinson's ship was attacked by Turkish pirates! There was an intense battle with cannons firing and pirates trying to board the ship. It was totally insane. Robinson got captured by the pirates and spent two years as their prisoner until he escaped on a boat with a boy named Xury. They had hardly any supplies but managed to sailall the way across the Atlantic to an island off the coast of South America. And that's where the third chapter ends - with Robinson marooned on this remote island. He has no idea what he's going to do or how he's going survive. The chapters were packed with storms, pirates, danger, and adventure at every turn. I can't even imagine what will happen to Robinson once he's alone on that island. Will he be rescued? Will he somehow find a way to get off the island? I'm super excited to read more and find out! This book has been a non-stop thrill ride so far. I'll be sure to write another book report once I read further into Robinson Crusoe's harrowing tale.篇4My Thoughts on the First Three Chapters of Robinson CrusoeI just finished reading the first three chapters of the book Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, and I have to say, I'm really liking it so far! The story is about a guy named Robinson Crusoe who decides to become a sailor and go on adventures at sea, even though his parents don't want him to.In the first chapter, we learn that Crusoe comes from a good family in the city of York in England. His father was a merchant and wanted Crusoe to also become a merchant like him. But Crusoe had the strong desire to go sail the seas and have adventures instead. No matter how much his parents begged him not to go, Crusoe couldn't get the idea out of his head. He finally got the chance when a friend invited him to go on a sea voyage with him. Crusoe didn't even tell his parents, he just took off!I can understand why Crusoe's parents were so upset. The sea was very dangerous back then, with storms, pirates, and all sorts of other perils. A lot of ships didn't make it back in one piece, if at all. Crusoe's parents just wanted him to be safe and have a stable profession like being a merchant. But I get why the call of adventure and seeing the world was too strong for Crusoe to resist. If I was stuck in one place my whole life, I'd probably want to break free and explore too!In the second chapter, the ship Crusoe was on got caught in a huge, terrifying storm. The storm raged for days and days, ripping the sails and threatening to sink the ship at any moment.I can't even imagine how scary that must have been! The sailors were fighting for their lives, trying desperately to steer the shipto safety. Poor Crusoe was seasick the whole time, miserable and fearing he was going to die. I don't blame him for wanting to turn back and go home. But the stubborn Crusoe soon forgot about those fears once the storm passed. As the third chapter begins, he's convinced himself that the worst is over. His friend had warned him about potential dangers, but Crusoe brushed it off. He thought worrying too much about what could go wrong would just ruin the fun and adventure. I'm not sure I agree with that way of thinking though. It's good to have an adventure, but you also need to be safe and smart about it.That's about where I'm at so far in the story. Crusoe's boat is headed to the coast of Africa, carrying goods to trade. From the first few chapters, I can see that Crusoe is determined and a bit headstrong. He doesn't seem to think too much about consequences, he just follows his heart's desire for adventure and exploring. Part of me admires that free spirit, but the other part thinks he should listen to wisdom and advice more.I have a feeling there are going to be many more crazy adventures and close calls for Crusoe based on how it's going so far. The storm chapter in particular was really intense! I'll admit I had to take a break from reading because I was getting nervousjust imagining being trapped on that ship in the middle of that massive, powerful storm. How much more is poor Crusoe going to have to go through?I'm excited to read more and find out what happens next. Is Crusoe's voyage going to go smoothly after this, or will he face even more life-or-death situations? Will he eventually realize his parents had a point and head back home to York? Or will his craving for adventure keep carrying him into deeper trouble? I guess I'll have to keep reading to find out! Those are my thoughts so far on the beginning of Robinson Crusoe. Even though it was written a long time ago, I'm relating to Crusoe's feelings of wanting to get out and explore the world instead of just staying at home like his parents wanted. Getting swept up in big storms and facing danger seems terrifying of course. But I'll give Crusoe credit, he seems brave and is pursuing what he feels is his passion, even if it's risky. I'm looking forward to tagging along on more of his adventures!篇5My Thoughts on "Robinson Crusoe: Chapters 1-3""Robinson Crusoe" is an exciting adventure story that I recently read. It is about a man named Robinson Crusoe whogets stranded on a deserted island after a shipwreck. The book is divided into chapters, and I would like to share my thoughts on the first three chapters. In the first chapter, Robinson Crusoe tells us about his childhood and how he wanted to go to sea even though his parents wanted him to be a lawyer. I found it interesting that he didn't listen to his parents and followed his own dreams. It made me think about how important it is to pursue our passions and not just do what others expect from us.The second chapter is where the adventure really begins! Robinson Crusoe boards a ship, but unfortunately, it gets caught in a terrible storm. The ship breaks apart, and he is the only survivor. I felt scared for him when I read about the storm and how he had to swim to the shore. It must have been really tough for him to be all alone on the island without anyone to help him.Once Robinson Crusoe reaches the island, the third chapter shows how resourceful he is. He starts exploring the island and finds a cave for shelter. He also figures out how to make tools and find food. I was amazed at how clever he was in using the things he found on the island to survive. It made me realize that we should never give up and always try to find solutions to our problems.Reading these chapters made me think about how important it is to be independent and resilient. Robinson Crusoe didn't give up when he was stranded on the island. Instead, he used his skills and creativity to make the best of the situation. It made me wonder if I could do the same if I were in his shoes.I also learned that sometimes we have to make difficult decisions. Robinson Crusoe had to choose between staying on the island or trying to escape. He decided to stay because he thought it would be safer. It made me think about how we have to think carefully before making choices and consider the consequences.Overall, I really enjoyed reading the first three chapters of "Robinson Crusoe." It is an exciting story that teaches us about courage, independence, and perseverance. I can't wait to read the rest of the book and find out what happens next to Robinson Crusoe.篇6My Thoughts on the First Few Chapters of Robinson CrusoeHi there! I just finished reading the first three chapters of the book Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe and I have a lot of thoughts I want to share about it. This book is pretty old - it waswritten way back in 1719! But even though it's an old book, I found the story really exciting and interesting so far.The book starts off by introducing us to the main character, whose name is Robinson Crusoe. Robinson comes from a good family in the city of York in England. His father was a merchant and wanted Robinson to also get into the merchant business since it was a very respected profession back then. But Robinson didn't want to be a merchant at all! He had this big desire to go out and explore the world by sailing on ships across the sea. His father warned him about the dangers of being a sailor and tried very hard to convince him not to do it. He even gave this really long speech about all the reasons why Robinson should just stay home and get a safe job. But Robinson was determined and eventually he just left home without telling anyone to become a sailor.I can kind of understand why Robinson felt that way. When I was little, I always dreamed about going on adventures and exploring too! My parents didn't want me wandering too far from home by myself though because they were worried I could get hurt or lost. Now that I'm a bit older, I realize my parents were just trying to keep me safe. Still, I think that feeling of really wanting to voyage out and discover the world is something a lotof kids can relate to. Maybe that's part of the reason this book has been so popular for such a long time! After running away from home, Robinson had all sorts of crazy adventures at sea. The way the author describes everything makes it feel so real and vivid. During a huge storm, the ship Robinson was on ended up sinking! He was stranded all alone on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere. I can't even imagine how scary that must have been for him. The chapters talk about how he had to figure out how to survive completely by himself with no one else around to help him. He used wood from the wrecked ship to build himself a little house and tools. He grew crops for food, made clothes out of animal skins, and learned how to cook meals over a fire.If I was stuck alone on an island like that, I'm not sure I would be able to make it! Sure, sometimes I've thought it might be fun to live out in nature away from everything for a little while. But actually having to do it for real with no modern conveniences whatsoever? And not knowing if I'd ever be rescued? That would be absolutely terrifying! I give Robinson a lot of credit for figuring out how to make a life for himself in such an extreme situation. One of the most interesting parts so far was when Robinson was exploring the island and came across a strange footprint in the sand that was too big to be his own. Just the thought of there possibly being another person or people on the island with him, who could be friendly or hostile, added a lot of suspense and mystery. Are they natives of the island? Pirates? Castaways like him? I can't wait to read further and find out! That footprint discovery has me hooked and eager to learn what happens next.Overall, even though this book was written a long time ago, I'm really enjoying reading it so far. The story of a regular guy like Robinson Crusoe getting shipwrecked and being forced to survive alone on a deserted island is not something that could ever really happen to me in modern times. But that's what makes it such an exciting adventure to experience through the book. I feel like I'm learning so much about what life was like for sailors back then and all the crazy adventures they could end up having if things went wrong at sea. Daniel Defoe does such a great job with his detailed writing that I can picture everything so clearly in my mind as I'm reading it.I'm definitely planning to keep on reading to find out what other challenges and struggles Robinson has to face while stranded all by himself. He's been really brave and resourceful upuntil this point but who knows what other craziness could happen? I can't wait to see what other adventures are in store as I continue on with Robinson Crusoe! Stay tuned for more of my thoughts once I finish the next few chapters.。

My Comments
The book is about a man,who spend several decades living in a deserted island. After reading over this book,I was enlighted and inspired a lot. Even though confronted with dilemma,Robinson endeavored to pursue a bright future,to adapt to the lonely and troublesome life on his own. This is incredible, for he defeated horror and hindrances. How could he do like that? Can't we do like that? Absolutely we can, only if we possess his perseverance and confidence, which can help us defeat everything depressing, achieve everything pleasing.
a book report on Robinson Crusoe
A Book Report of Robinson CrusoeRobinson Crusoe is a novel written by Daniel Defoe that was first published in 1719. Within years. It had reached an audience as wide as any book ever written in English. This novel is considered as the first fiction that is in the form of diary, holding the title of the first realistic full-length novel in Britain.Synopsis:It is the story of Bobinson . He is a labor of sailing since his childhood. One day he leaves his family and experiences numerous risks over the Altantic and Pacific Ocean. The ship and staff sunk down. Robinson as the only survivor is shipwrecked in a lonely tropical island, possessing only a knife, a box of tobacco, a pipe-and the will to survive. There he builds himself a hut, grows his own food, and becomes self-sufficient. Robinson gets the enlightenment from Bible during his hard life in a desert island, gradually he adapts himself to the island life. After 23 years he meets with a group of cannibals and rescues one of their prisoners, a young native whom he calls Friday. Crusoe and his “man” Friday become close friends. Five years later, a British ship navigates here, Robinson help the captain subduing the insurgent sailor and gets back to his hometown.Evaluation:It is one of the most popular adventure novels in all literature. This classic story of a shipwrecked mariner on a deserted island is perhaps the greatest adventure in all of English literature. By the end of the 19th century, no book in the history of Western literature had had more editions and translations than Robinson Crusoe.Robinson Crusoe was partly based on the actual deeds of Alexander Selkirk, an 18th-century Scottish sailor who spent almost five years alone on a desert island. When he was rescued and returned to England, he had already become a savage. Defoe created this novel according to the chief source of Selkirk's legend, devoting his experience into the character with his abundant imagination as a literal processing. Selkirk had no saga to praise in the island but Robinson became a heroic figure in petty bourgeoisie's view. He expressed strong entrepreneurial spirit and enlightenment consciousness. This novel is famous for its lovely details and its expression of belief in man's ability when left alone in nature. Defoe finished this book when he is 59 and then he won the reputation of "the father of European novelists", because the book is full of wit and humour, good for both the old and the youth. Besides,it suits both refined and popular tastes.Central Theme:Crusoe is model for young people who have frail willpower and feel confused like me. His is the saga of a man alone: a man who overcomes self-pity and despair to reconstruct his life. He can follows his own dream with a brave heart, and he would rather persist his adventurous and colorful navigational life than taking easy life. Since the unexpected accident occurs he has been struggling with natural disaster fearlessly and tries every effort to save others.I t’s himself that changes his destiny with his own hands and clever minds. However, there is also another perspective about how he could make it through on the island. It can be a little doubtful that the most significant force sustains the hero’s struggle is the reflection on the religion. The course he diligently fight for the better survival environment can’t be gone through without gradually rooted belief in God.Throughout the total 28 years on the unknown island, he is once distressed, desperate, ecstatic, easy, contented, pious, and horrified and so forth but never deserts his wish to survive. Every time he feels in despair and hopeless he learns to meditate to and fro. Since he picks up the Bible with solemnity, his confused mind begins to turn to positive respect and furthermore, he fosters a grateful and broad mind toward his sufferings. After Friday is saved to be his devoted servant and companion, Crusoe teaches him to appreciate the word i n Bible. Friday tells that there’s a holy being alike living beyond the faraway mountain and that is literally an amazement for Crusoe who realizes that this invisible sacred being is simply everywhere. He is worshiped.Revelation:Anyway, the story of Robinson inspires me a lot. We are always content with the cozy and peaceful life, and anticipate that we will harvest happiness without any efforts. Once facing with frustration and hardship, what companies us will be despair emotion. In fact strikes and challenges are the permanent unbearable disasters to fragile people. While the theme of "No pains, no gains" can be reflected in the novel. What's more, the powerful determination to survive is what we should acquire in case of confronting a resembling situation.Crusoe is such a optimistic man who have strong will to fight. His creative labour and the result it brings reflect the glamour of human wisdom. Everyone needs spirit of perseverance, persistence and being indomitable. Robinson Crusoe, powerfully arouses people’s resolution deep inside and incredible courage and will to face hardships.。
A Book Report of Robinson Crusoe(鲁滨孙漂流记的读书报告)
A Book Report of Robinson CrusoeDaniel Defoe, born in the 17th century, was “Father of British novels”. Although his parents wanted him to be a missionary when he was young, he decided to go into business which, later on,offered him many opportunities to travel around Europe. It was not until he was 59 did he settle down to create the masterpiece Robinson Crusoe. The gist of the story is as follows. The leading character Robinson Crusoe, despite the warning of his parents, determined to go to sea and see the world, leaving behind him a peaceful and pleasant life. The subsequent miserable attempts spoiled by storms, pirates did not stop him. After he became a rich man in Brazil, his aspiration to see the world led him to the shipwreck, which fortunately or unfortunately, left none alive but him on an isolated island. After that comes the most impressive part of the novel. As a sole survivor, though lonely and depressed, he tried to overcome lots of difficulties to live on. He learnt to plant crops, domesticate wild animals and gradually he adapted himself to the environment. However, he never gave up the hope of leaving the island one day. In the 24th year he spent on the island, he saved a savage and called him “F riday”. One day, he rescued a captain and helped him take back his ship from the betraying sailors. It was this ship that enabled them to leave the island. 35 years later, when Robinson Crusoe returned to the island, he sent new immigrants to it. Seeing them living happily on the island, he left it delightedly. The plot of the novel is not very complicated to follow and sometimes it is lacking in striking highlights to grab my attention, especially when the writer related how Robinson Crusoe made a raft and other life necessities. However, the novel has many elaborate details which enable us readers to have a clear picture in mind. For example, he described Fridayˊs limbs, hair, forehead, skin, face, nose, mouth, teeth, lips with many adjectives. Another example is “ Friday kissed, embraced, hugged, cried, laughed, jumped, danced, sung ”when he saw his father. These verbs are so specific that we can feel how happy Friday was at the moment. As the leading character, Robinson Crusoe is the very representative of the emergent capitalists in the 17th and the 18th centuries. He had great aspirations and never yielded to setbacks. When he was placed on a desolate island, he managed to get out of despair by means of reading the Bible. For example, “ He read the Word of God every day and applied all the comforts of it to his present state”.In addition, the relationship between Robinson Crusoe and Friday is really moving. For instance ,“Never man had a more faithful, loving, sincere servant than Friday was to me”, “His very affections were like those of a child to a father”. In particular, when I read “What you send Friday for? Take, kill Friday, no send Friday away”, tears welled up in my eyes. Now I can well understand why “ man Friday” becomes a set expression referred to a faithful and helpful partner in English.Reading the novel is no less than a spiritual journey in which I got worried, frightened and delighted with what happened to the character. All in all, Robinson Crusoe is really worth reading.。
鲁宾逊漂流记读后感 Bookreport of Robinson Crusoe
A Book Report of Robinson CrusoeHave you ever wondered what you would do if you were the only person on a desert island? How many days can you survive? Day or days?Daniel Defoe dramatizes such an experience in Robinson Crusoe, an adventure story about a man named Robinson Crusoe who is stranded on a desert island for 28 years. This book is one of the forerunners of the English realistic novel, which is based on a real experience of Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish castaway who lived four years on the Pacific island. Defoe develops the sailor's story with his own imagination. As the struggle of man vs. nature and man vs. man is so interesting to read, I keep my attention on the story until the very end.As a bourgeois writer, Daniel Defoe shows his ideas about the rising bourgeois class in his book. He creates the image of Robinson Crusoe, a typical of the rising English bourgeois class in the 18th century. Robinson Crusoe is a practical, diligent and religious person with a restless curiosity to know more about the world. He is never content with his current life and he is longing for adventures. All his characters indicate the bourgeoisie's dissatisfactions with their situations at that time and their desires for extension in the world.Another thing delivering through the whole story is individualism. With the influence of the Renaissance and the Industrial Revolution, more and more people are being interested in individualism, especially the bourgeois class. And from the story of Robinson Crusoe, we can see his desire to prove individual power in the face of social and natural challenges. Although his bad luck puts him alone on a desolate island, he doesn't lose his belief to survive. Alone on the island, Robinson Crusoe overcomes many difficulties: hunger, loneliness, the fight against disease etc.Of course he is only an ordinary person and he also has fears and gets puzzled at the beginning. We can see that he is in despair and questiones himself "Why did God put me on this island all alone ?" But later he gets out of despair and does all he can to find out ways to provide himself with residence, food, and tools. He salvages things from a wrecked ship and makes full use of them.Just as the proverb says, "God helps those who help themselves". With great will and strength, Robinson Crusoe creats for himself a kingdom by taming animals, gathering fruit, growing crops, and hunting. He also makes a calendar to remind himself of the world. It is his marvelous capacity for work, his boundless courage and energy in overcoming obstacles that make him a hero. And in the story, Daniel Defoe also sings the praises of human labour, presenting it as the source of pride andhappiness as well as a means to change man's living conditions. However, Daniel Defoe also beautifies colonialism and slavery in the story., which I think is the limitation of his class and the times. Obviously, Robinson Crusoe is a colonist. For example he puts up a sign as his landing monument after he sets foot on the island. He also thinks he owns Friday's life and wants Friday to be obedient just because he saves Friday and gives Friday a name as a man. Moreover, Robinson Crusoe's adventures is not only for survival, but also for occupancy of wealth and land.

The book report of <The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe> Name:姚嘉楠Class:陈未2班(周五下午2:00-3:30)Student’s Number:2013202110 The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe is a novel by Daniel Defoe, who is notable for being one of the earliest proponents of the novel, as he helped to popularize the form in Britain and is even identified as one of the founders of the English novel. This novel was first published in 1719 and sometimes regarded as the first novel in English. As an adventure novel, it’s about dramatic personae Robinson who met a frightful wind while he sailed on the sea. He was the only survival, but he drifted to an uninhabited and deserted island. Being the only survivor from the shipwreck, Crusoe had to learn how to survive on his own from gathering food, and finding shelter. He was a man with the fortitude spirit. He met many difficulties and dangers but never lost confidence for life. And finally he conquered countless and unimaginable hardships. He found himself searching several times at the broken-down ship to search for supplies for the will to survive, eventually making the lonely island his home. He was brave in adventure and was good at labor. He used his head and hands to struggle all the time. He bravely struggled, industriously worked and combated with barbarians. There was no appearance of man until about 15 years into his stay. However, one day he met with a group of cannibals and rescued one of their prisoners, a young native whom he called Friday. Crusoe and his “man”Friday became close friends and when they were finally rescued four years later, both of them return to England.Robinson Crusoe is a real hero. He almost has everything needed for becoming a successful man, such as his excellent creativity, great working capacity, courage, and persistence in overcoming obstacles. However, Robinson Crusoe is not a perfect man. He also has shortcomings. He was such a coward when he encountered a storm the first time. He repented yet ate his words and sailed on after the storm. By showing Robinson’s shortcomings, Daniel Defoe made Robinson a real person. After all, no one is perfect. Robinson Crusoe can not only lead the ambitious ones to success, but also guide average people to face up to life. This is the significance of the study of Robinson Crusoe.Robinson Crusoe was partly based on the actual deeds of Alexander Selkirk, an 18th-century Scottish sailor who spent almost five years alone on a desert island. The character Robinson Crusoe also represents the rising middle-class virtues in the mid-eighteenth century England. This novel isfamous for its expression of belief in man's ability when left alone in nature. What I really enjoy is that the author can give such good details and descriptions about what is going on; it feels as though you are part of the book. It shows you what Robinson Crusoe had to face in order for him to survive and to get back home. I was hooked until the end just to see how everything Robinson Crusoe had to go through when reading this book. There is no perfect life in the world, but we can change our fate. If we have confidences and work hard, we absolute will be victorious, and the most important thing is ‘Never give up’! That is what I learn and conclude from the book.。

英国文学Book Report robinson crusoe
Book Report (1) ---Robinson CrusoeRobinson Crusoe, written in 1719, is commonly considered as the first novel in English literary history. Its author, Daniel Defoe, is known as a pioneer novelist of England, and also a prolific writer of books and pamphlets on a great variety of subjects. When I read Robinson Crusoe for the first time during my childhood, I only thought that it was an adventure story, fantastic and really inspirational: a man built up a good life from nothing in an isolated island. However, as I grow older, with more knowledge base and a wider horizon, I am able to see this story from another perspective. Reading the English version of this story really benefits me a lot and enables me to go deeper into the essence of the book. Through a slow reading, I can fully appreciate the beauty of English language and ponder deeply over the meaning of every single sentence.Giving thought to Defoe’s personal experience and the social backdrop of the 18th England, I think that Robinson Crusoe is not so much a hero as an admirable and successful representative of that time’s colonist. What Robinson does to the deserted island is what the European colonist does to the Africa, America and Asia. I will display my arguments in the following paragraphs from different aspects.First of all, Robison has certain characters that make him a good colonist. First, he is rebellious and adventurous, that is to say, he tends to depart from tradition and is willing to risk his life exploring new places. Robinson belongs to a middle family, and his father, who is a business man, wants him to leading a common life and takes a decent job as a lawyer. However, Robinson is dying to be a sailor, exploring the mysterious sea, the unknown. He flies away without telling his parents and from then on, he lives a dangerous but interesting life. His adventurous spirits can also be seen from the fact that he begins a new adventure after he has a plenty of wealth in the Brazil plantation. Second, he is equipped with a wide rang of knowledge and skills as well as some advanced techniques from a more civilized country. When Robinson arrives at the isolated island, he is left along, but, the wrecked ship is near shore and contains a good quantity of useful items that helps Robinson out of the most difficult period in the island. Moreover, Robinson has a bright head with a variety of knowledge, from survive in the wild place to build a shelter, from distinguish edible food to grow crops and raise livestock himself, from make bread to pottery, etc. Third, he has a colonial mind, which manifests clearly in his colonial activities I would like to discuss at next two paragraphs.Next, it is his occupation to the land that makes him similar to those colonists. Since Robinson has been living in the island for many years, and he turned the once waste land into a fertile place, he always regarded himself as “King of the island”. When he finds the footprints of other men in the island, he feels offended and threatened because his territory is under danger. In fact, those wild men, although savage, are the aborigines of the island. Moreover, the method that he use to defend his “holly”land is rightly a colonial one: he uses the gun, an item from superior civilizations. Sometimes, a place becomes colonized only because this single reasons that their weapons could not match the invaders’.Finally, he performed culture transformation on Friday, a wild man he saves. He teaches Friday spoke English but never show any interest in the native language that Friday speaks; he put efforts in convert Friday Christian but despises the belief of Friday’s; he also instructs Friday some skills and turn surprised when he finds that Friday can do something better than him. One thing that the colonists usually do is to spread their culture, which causes the natives lose theiridentity gradually. Of course, what Robinson has done reflects his discriminations toward other races, for in his mind, his deeds are for Friday’s benefits and he behaves like a colonist unconsciously. Friday is uncivilized and savage. It is his honor to be a slave for his wise master. There some other things that I would like to mention. Robinson is definitely a devout puritan, just like the author, Daniel Defoe. He believes that he can make a good life through his hard work. He is so devoted to his belief that he reads the Bible twice a day. He believes that the God is on his side that helps him to conquer the nature as well as other races. We also can see other traces of Defoe in the novel, such as Robinson’s being a business man at a time and limiting to the island like imprisoned from the civil society. The colorful life of Defoe adds to the novel’s charm and glamour. If we want to write something attractive, a deep thought and varies experiences are necessary. At last, Robinson is too indifference for me to love him. To his parents, he disobeys his elderly parents’ wills and flies away without considering the anxieties and worries that his parents will have. Moreover, he never tries to give his parents a word from him during his travel. To Friday, his loyal and sincere friend, he lacks of considerate and true care. When he gets married and has children, he behaves not like a husband and father, but a protector. In conclusion, Robinson Crusoe is similar to colonist and very indifference. And we can see some personalities of Defoe’s in him. Anyway, Robinson Crusoe is worth reading and we can learn a lot from it.(975 words)2013年5月26日。

The Book report of Robinson Crusoe
Daniel Defoe, Robinson Crusoe ,Published in 1996,外语教学与研究出版社.
一. Author and book
Daniel Defoe is the founder of realist novels in British Enlightenment , known as “the father of Britain and European novels” .He was born in London in 1660,and died in 1731. He is also a pamphleteer(小册子作家) and journalist. As a well-educated London merchant, he became an acute(尖锐的) economic theorist and began to write wittily(机智地)a. A satire he published resulted in his being imprisoned in 1703, and then his business collapsed(破产). He traveled as a government secret agent while continuing to write prolifically. In 1704–1713 he wrote practically single-handedly the periodical review. Later in his life he turned to fictions writing. He achieved literary immortality (不朽) with the novel Robinson Crusoe (1719). He is also remembered for the Moll Flanders (1722),Journal of the Plague Year (1722)and so on.
二. Summary of the book
Robinson Crusoe tells us a story about Crusoe .Crusoe is born in England. In 1619, he leaves England, setting sail on a sea voyage in September 1651. This journey ends in disaster as the ship is taken over by pirates(海盗), and Crusoe becomes the slave of a Moor. He manages to escape in a boat. With the help of a ship captain, Crusoe becomes owner of a plantation in Brazil. Years later, he joins an expedition(远征队)to bring slaves from Africa, but he is caught in a storm about forty miles out to sea on an island. His companions all die. Having overcome his despair, he takes arms, tools, and other supplies from the ship. He starts to build a house near a cave. He lives first by hunting ,and then by raising live stock(牲畜) and crops .After a few years, he discovers native cannibals(食人动物)who visit the island to kill and eat prisoners at times. When a prisoner manages to escape, Crusoe helps him and keeps him as his servant. He names his new companion "Friday" and then teaches him English and other skills. Several months later, an English ship appears. Crusoe and the ship's captain strike a deal, in which he helps the captain retake the ship from the mutineers(反叛者). On December 19th, 1686, Crusoe leaves the island with Friday, and arrives back in England on June 11th, 1687.
三. Comments
ROBINSON CRUSOE is read as eagerly today as when it was first published. The book is a very product of its time, and it has attained a high position in the literature of the world. Not only is Robinson Crusoe an extremely well written, but it was the first of its kind. This book is made up of many short stories tied together in following the main character. The character grows and matures through his trials and becomes a man worthy of emulation(仿效), which also displays the creative and pioneering spirit of the bourgeois rising period
Defoe’s language reveals classic appreciation of the English language that really appealed to me as a reader. Most of his language are informal and plain .Firstly, he uses a lot of contractions, like “there’s”,“wasn’t”, and so on. Secondly, in some place “that” are left out, before an object clause, for instance, “I thought I heard the sound of guns”. The most important thing is the story is made up of informal words and single words, which make the story more vivid and less bookish. His narrative accounts of adventure, shipwrecks and survival are precise and captivating. The novel adopts the first-person in the narrative and memoir form, its style is simple but inviting. Defoe also shows brilliant insight into humanity through his writing as his main character. I enjoyed the spiritual aspects of the book.
But it lacks something because it isn’t true. The text is repetitive(反复的) and extremely preachy(说教的). These phenomena are somewhat interesting the first time around, but Defoe never risks saying something only once. Many parts of it tend(趋向)to unbelievable, like when the shipwrecked sailor discovers a miraculous(奇迹般的)tree
that grows quickly and sturdily(生长力强的)wherever he puts it. Some
of the scenes that should be exciting but it’s fail to be, because the language of the early 1700s doesn’t lead itself well to action.
Generally speaking, Robinson Crusoe is a great work, because it teaches us to be tough and optimistic no matter how hard we are facing.。
