Product Overview1.1INTRODUCTIONStep-down-converter choices include a variety of linear and switching regulators. The TC1303C Adjustable Output Regulator provides a unique combination of a 500mA synchronous buck regulator and 300mA Low-Dropout Regulator (LDO) with a Power-Good (PG) monitor to provide a highly integrated solution of dual supply applications for devices like Cellular Phones, Portable Computers, USB-Powered Devices, Hand Held instruments, etc. The device provides a very cost-effective solution with minimal board space because of the high-frequency operation of the buckconverter, which reduces the size requirements of the external inductor and capacitor, the minimal external component requirement by the LDO and the small DFN (dual flat no leads) package size. The 500mA synchronous buck regulator switches at a fixed frequency of 2.0MHz when the load is heavy, providing a low-noise, small-size solution. When the load on the buck output is reduced to light levels, it changes operation to a pulse frequency modulation (PFM) mode to minimize quiescent current drawn from the battery. No inter-vention is necessary for smooth transition from one mode to another. The LDO provides a 300mA auxiliary output that requires a single 1µF ceramic output capacitor, minimizing board area and cost. Typical dropout voltage for the LDO output is 137mV for a 200mA load. For the TC1303C, the power-good output is based on the regulation of the buck regu-lator output, the LDO output or the combination of both. Additional protection features include UVLO, overtemperature and overcurrent protection on both outputs. This chapter covers the following topics.•What is the TC1303 DFN Adjustable Output Demo Board?•What the TC1303 DFN Adjustable Output Demo Board Kit includes.FIGURE 1-1:TC1303 DFN Adjustable Output Demo Board Block Diagram.INPUT VOLTAGE:2.7V - 5.5VResistor DividerNetworkLDO Regulator Output Voltage 2.5V @300mASwitch S1 for SHDN1 and SHDN2TC1303C500mA Synchronous Buck Regulator + 300mA LDO with Power-Good OutputBuck Regulator Output Voltage 1.8V,2.5V,3.3V,4.0V @500mATC1303 DFN Adjustable Output Demo Board User’s Guide1.2WHAT IS THE TC1303 DFN ADJUSTABLE OUTPUT DEMO BOARD?The TC1303 DFN Adjustable Output demo board demonstrates the use of Microchip’sTC1303C device in applications that require dual supply voltage. The demo board isused to evaluate the TC1303C device over the input voltage range, output voltage andcurrent range for both the synchronous buck regulator output and the low dropout linearregulator output.Test points are provided to monitor the Input voltage, Output voltage, shut down controland power good signal.1.3WHAT THE TC1303 DFN ADJUSTABLE OUTPUT DEMO BOARD KITINCLUDESThis TC1303 DFN Adjustable Output Demo Board kit includes:•TC1303 DFN Adjustable Output Demo Board (102-00092)•TC1303 DFN Adjustable Output Demo Board User’s Guide(Electronic version on CD-ROM)•Analog and Interface Products Demonstration Boards CD-ROM (DS21912)DS51617A-page 6© 2006 Microchip Technology Inc.TC1303 DFN ADJUSTABLE OUTPUTDEMO BOARD USER’S GUIDE Chapter 2. When switch S1, position 2 is to the left, the TC1303C device is in low quiescent current SHDN2mode and the output V OUT2 is disabled. The signal is available on test point TP7.FIGURE 2-1:Setup Configuration DiagramInstallation and Operation© 2006 Microchip Technology Inc.DS51617A-page 92.3.1.2APPLYING LOAD TO TC1303 DFN ADJUSTABLE OUTPUT DEMOBOARDA variable resistive load can be used to verify the line and load regulation. The loadresistance is connected between the points TP3 and TP4 for the buck regulator. Tomeasure the output voltage, connect the common point of multi-meter to TP4 and thepositive terminal to TP3. By varying the load one can verify the load regulation bymeasuring the output voltage over entire load range of 0mA to 500mA. Similarly, byvarying the line voltage from 2.7V to 5.5V and checking the output voltage, the lineregulation can be calculated. The best way to evaluate the TC1303 DFN Adjustable Output Demo Board is to dig intothe circuit. Measure voltages and currents with a DVM and probe the board with anoscilloscope.Calculating Adjustable Output VoltageThe buck regulator output voltage is adjustable by using two external resistors as avoltage divider. For adjustable-output voltages, it is recommended that the top resistordivider value be 200kohm. The bottom resistor can be calculated using the followingformula.EQUATION 2-1:ExampleFor setting the output voltage to 3.2V.EQUATION 2-2:The R BOT resistor can be set using the potentiometer (R7) provided on board so as toprovide an output voltage of 3.2V.R BOT R TOP V FB V OUT1V FB –------------------------------------⎠⎟⎞⎝⎜⎛×=Where:R TOP=Top resistor (200 kohm)V OUT1=Output Voltage V FB=0.8V R BOT =Bottom resistorWhere:R TOP=200 kohm V OUT1= 3.2V V FB =0.8VR BOT 200 kohm 0.8V 3.2V 0.8V –----------------------------⎠⎞⎝⎛×=66.66 kohm=TC1303 DFN Adjustable Output Demo Board User’s Guide NOTES:DS51617A-page 10© 2006 Microchip Technology Inc.TC1303 DFN ADJUSTABLE OUTPUTDEMO BOARD USER’S GUIDE Appendix A. Important NoticesImproper handling of a vehicle , especially while raised and supported by jack stands, ramps or other mechanical means, can cause serious bodily injury or even death. It is strongly rec-ommended that a trained, experienced mechanic, with proper equipment, do the installation. The seller nor the manufacturer assumes no liability, expressed or implied, for the improper installation or use of this product or its components. Before using, the user shall determine the suitability of the products for it’s intended use. The user assume all responsibility and risk in connection there within. It is the buyer’s responsibility to have all suspension, drivetrain, steering, and other compo-nents checked for proper tightness and torque after the fi rst 100 miles and every 3,000 miles by a qualifi ed professional mechanic.Extreme care should be taken while operating your vehicle to prevent vehicle rollover or loss of control. Both can result in serious injury or death. Do not add or modify parts to this kit or use outside it’s intended purpose. Follow all safety regulations and warnings per state and federal laws.Note: Final fi tment of the wheel to caliper is the responsibility of the customer.Note: It is important to read and understand this ENTIRE installation manual, before starting the installation.Kit Contents1 Pair of calipers w/pads2 Rotors2 Retaining plate2 Preload spacers (C-clip applications)4 Caliper bolts8 T-bolts8 Nuts2 Disc brake mounting plate assembly (1 Left and 1 Right)1 stainless steel brake line kitTools and Equipment That May Be RequiredDifferent models and years of vehicle use different-sized fasteners, and every effort has been taken to correctly identify the proper sized tool for each step of the installation. Occasionally, however, manufacturers use alternate fasteners, so it’s advisable to check that each tool cor-rectly fi ts the fastener before loosening or tightening it. The following tools and equipment may be needed:9/16” socket wrench12mm socket14mm wrenchTorque wrenches capable of 10-148 lb-ft settingsSeveral ragsSmall funnel or suitable means of fi lling master cylinder reservoirBrake bleed bottle1 pair of jack stands or other means of supporting vehicleHydraulic pressPair of PliersStep 1-Remove WheelsWARNING - Brake fl uid will damage most painted surfaces. Immediately clean spilled brake fl uid from any painted surfaces. Be sure the cap is securely installed on the master cylinder. If the cap is loose or removed, it is likely more fl uid willdrip.Note: All Photographs Show Left Side Installation, unless noted otherwise.Break loose the lug nuts on both rear wheels before jacking up the car.Refer to the Owners Manual for the correct location when jacking up the vehicle. Jack up the vehicle and secure on a pair of jack stands. Never leave any vehicle supported with only a jack - always use jack-stands.After securing the vehicle at a convenient height, remove the rear wheels.Note: If you remove the bottom lug nut last while holding the bottom of the tire, it will lessen the chances of the wheel tilting on it’s own and make removal easier.Step 2 -Removal of Drum Brakes and AxleRemove brake drums from thebrake assembly.Remove the hard line from thewheel cylinder attached to thebacking plate. For c-clip applications- Removethe differential cover, unbolt thecross shaft and remove it from thevehicle. See factory service manualfor additional information.Using a 9/16” socket, remove thefour nuts that hold each axle shaftinto the axle and remove the axleshafts from the axle. Some leakagemay occur.Remove the backing plate from theaxle housing.Wipe clean grease and contami-nants from all surfaces. For semi-fl oat applications- Pressthe old bearings and seals fromthe axle shafts. C-clip applicationsdo not need the removal of the oldbearings and seals unless parts areneeded to be replaced.Install the disc brake mounting plate onto the axle flange with new supplied retaining bolts. The mounting plate is directional, insurethat the plate is installed on the correct side.Step 3 -Install Disc Mounting PlateIn order to install this kit, remove the factory bolts from the axle fl ange. If installing on a C-clip application do not remove the fac-tory bolts.Install the supplied bolts (longer than factory bolts) in the axle fl ange.Adjust the internal parking brake shoes with the adjuster until there is just enough room to slide the ro-tor over the shoes. Refer to the fac-tory service manual for additional information.STEP 4 -Install Axle ShaftsApply grease to the outside of the bearing seal assembly and slide the preload spacer onto the seal. The grease will help hold the spacer in place.Slide the axle shaft into the axle housing by hand, lining it up with the differential. The axle shaft should not be forced, damage mayoccur. On C-clip retained axles, slide the axles all the way into the axle hous-ing using care to avoid damage to the splines or the bearing surface. Reinstall the C-clip and the cross shaft. Ensure that all old silicone is cleaned from the differential hous-ing and the differential cover, and reinstall the differential cover using a new gasket or silicone. Fill thehousing with new oil.Using a hydraulic press, press the new bearing and retaining collar onto the axle shaft. Refer to the factory service manual for more details.Grease the shaft where the axle shaft seal will be installed, theninstall the seal.Install the retaining plate and new preload spacer on axle shaft. Notice the direction the preload spacer is facing in the photo to the right. The chamfer side faces inboard.STEP 5 -Install the Rotor and CaliperInstall the rotor on the axle.Install the brake pads in the caliper.Using a 12mm socket wrench in-stall the caliper onto the mounting plate. Torque the bolts to 15-18 ft-lbs.Line up the access holes located on the axle shafts with the retainer bolts. Using a 9/16” socket wrench tighten the four nuts to 25 - 30 ft-lbs.STEP 4 -(Continued)Install Axle ShaftsSTEP 6 -Install Stainless Steel Brake LinesInstall the caliper end of the stainless steel brake line by fi rst placing a copper crush washer on either side of the banjo fi tting.Insert the banjo bolt into the caliper using a 14mm wrench or socket to tighten it. Insert the stainless steel brake line fi tting through the chassis bracket, and screw it onto the hard line fi tting by hand a few turns, to ensure that it is properly engaged. Tighten the hard line fi tting.Check to ensure that the brake line is not binding in any way, nor interfering with any suspension component.Note that you will need to purchase shorter metal brake lines from an automotive pats supplier. If the brake line is not properly routed, a catastrophic failure could occur. If you are unsure that the line is routed properly and safely, do not drive the car. Please call our Tech Support Dept. for assistance if you have any doubt as to the brake line routing.Install the emergency brake cable at the mounting plate and adjust, refer to the factory service manual. If realignment is necessary, loosen the banjo bolt, and realign the brake line, or loosen the inboard end of the line, and slightly re-clock the fitting.Weld the brake line mounting tab onto the axle tube. Install the brake line through the tab and install the c-clip to secure the line.STEP 7-Bleed BrakesComplete installation on both sides of the vehicle before bleeding the system. Note: The calipers and lines will need to fi ll with fl uid, quickly draining the master cylinder reservoir. Keep a close watch on the fl uid level when initially bleeding the system. Do not allow the master cylinder reservoir to run dry and draw in air. Doing so may require the brake system to be serviced by a certifi ed brake technician.Refer to owners manual for torque used on bleed screws. After initially bleeding the system, gently tap the caliper body with a non-marring mallet or hammer to dislodge any small air bubbles and re-bleed.After bleeding, apply a constant pressure to the brake pedal and check all connections, including bleed screws, and both ends of the line for leaks.Brake fl uid will damage most painted surfaces. Immediately clean spilled brake fl uid from any painted surface, including the caliper. Though caliper paint is designed to resist harsh chemicals, prolonged exposure will damage the fi nish.STEP 8-Reinstall wheelsCheck wheel to caliper clearance before installing wheels!Reinstall the wheels and torque the lug nuts to your wheel manufacturer’s specifi cations. It may be necessary to snug the bolts before lowering the vehicle and then torque the wheels when the car is on the ground. Alternatively, an assistant may depress the brake pedal while you tighten the wheel nuts to the proper torque setting.Carefully test-drive the vehicle in a safe area at low speed to insure all components are working correctly.。

No stinkin’ van, heavy flight cases, cable spaghetti, and no dead weight. With the Bass Fly Rig, you can relax. For fly gigs across the globe, jam-ming at the local hang, and last minute sessions, you’ll be the first one ready to go. Y ou can stop stressing over what to pack and agonizing over what to leave behind. Y ou can stop dreading cheesy backline loaners and overheating at the mere thought of your touring rig going down. Just pop your Bass Fly Rig into your guitar case and head for the door. (Be sure to wipe that smile off your face when the rest of the band shows up sweating and out of breath.)APPLICA TIONSAs a PRE-AMP or STOMPBOX with a bass amp.Y ou can connect the Bass Fly Rig in-line just as you would a standard distortion pedal. If the pre-amp of your amplifier is imparting too much of its own character on the pedal, plug into the low level input and set the pre-amp as clean and neutral as possible. Also, be aware that most tube amps have a tone stack. When every-thing is on max, they tend to cut the mid-range. So don’t be surprised to find that the flattest sound is achieved with bass and treble at mini-mum, and mid at max. Since most tube amp passive tone stacks work in a similar fashion, we recommend this as a good starting point and ad-justing to taste.Y ou can also plug into the effects loop return (if the amp has one). This will disable the entire pre-amp of the amp for a more true representa-tion of the sound. For DIRECT RECORDING or DIRECT to PA. All of the tone shaping and cabinet emulation needed is already incorporated into the SansAmp section of the pedal. The Bass Fly Rig automatically converts your bass signal to Low Z allowing you to plug into a variety of inputs that would normally load down your guitar’s signal. It can be plugged into mixers (live and studio), workstation/recorders, and even directly into the sound card on a computer.THE INS AND OUTS1/4” INPUT& IN PAD SWITCH:4.7megOhm instrument level to deliver the full sound of piezos. For normal operation, signal level to Input should be close to that of a stan-dard bass guitar (approximately -10dBm / 250mV).The In Pad switch for active basses pads the input by -10dBm.1/4” UNIVERSAL OUTPUT: Unbalanced low Z output. This output can be connected to High Z bass amplifiers (or effects) as well as Low Z mixer and computer inputs.Output level is unity gain when pedal is in bypass mode. It also drives long cables without loss of signal integrity, even in bypass.BALANCED XLR OUTPUT & GROUND CONNECT SWITCH:Balanced low Z output. When the Ground Connect switch is engaged, the ground connects. Disengaged, the ground of your stage system and other interconnected gear is lifted (isolated) from the ground of the mixing console.GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE YOU ST ARTSIGNAL FLOW OF THE BASS FLY RIGSET LEVEL CONTROLS FOR UNITY GAINSet the level controls so you have the same volume coming from your speaker/monitor whether the pedal is active or in bypass. This ensures the next device in the signal chain won't get slammed by a much hotter signal than what would normally come from the instrument. Similarly, you wouldn't want a drop in volume, either which would force the next device to struggle for enough signal.12GUIDE TO FUNCTIONS and CONTROLS(in order of signal flow)COMP Section Comp utilizes old school, all-analog, FET -based technology from the ‘50s and ‘60s, which is inherently warmer, more transparent and more musicalthan other methods of compression.COMP:A single, continuously variable control to dial in just the right amount of compression you need. A little goes a long way, from soft and barely noticeable to super squashy, infinite sustain.TONE: As compressors typically darken your guitar signal, the T one control provides a pre-compression tonal boost in the frequency range of 2-3 kHz to preserve high-end string attack and clarity.Experiment with lower settings for warmer, rounder, more jazzy tones.LEVEL: Adjusts the output level of the Comp section.BOOST SectionPRE/POST BOOST: Foot-switchable boost modes, up to 10dB.Pre-Boost interacts with the SansAmp sec-tion to beef up drive and distortion. Post-Boost mode increases the overall vol-ume to punch up fills and solos.SANSAMP SectionThe all-analog SansAmp technology enables the Bass Fly Rig to run di-rectly into mixers of recording desks and PA systems, as well as augment your existing amplifier set-up. It can also be used to enhance previously recorded tracks. The SansAmp section focuses on clean tones within the tube amplifier sound spectrum. T o dirty things up, you have the flexibility of using the Drive control, the Character control, or you can add distor-tion with the Fuzz in the Octa section, or via the Boost section. Or all four! Each method achieves different tones.Speaker simulation is an integral part of the circuitry. It is designed for a smooth, even response as would be achieved by a multiply-miked cabinet, without the peaks, valleys, and notches associated with single miking. The shape of the speaker curve will not adversely effect or interfere with the frequency response of your own cabinet. The speaker simulation works in tandem with the EQ controls to custom tailor the overall sound. DRIVE: Adjusts the overall amount of gain and overdrive, similar to when the output section of a tube amp is being pushed. The first half of the rotation will increase the volume as well as the overdrive.CHARACTER:Sweeps through an entire range of tonal possibilities. In addition to modifying the frequency response, Character also influ-ences the attack and drive characteristics. Therefore, you may need to adjust your gain and tone settings after tweaking the Character control. Below 12 o’clock serves up vintage ‘70s powerhouse attitudes.Around 12 o’clock will introduce you to classic studio tones. Above 12 o’clock increases the gain and crunch for less polite, modern rock, indie bass sounds.Full up gives you full-tilt distorted bass tones.LOW, MID, HIGH: On-board post-EQ section gives you full con-trol, like having a studio mixing board at your fingertips. Unlike passive tone controls that only cut, these active controls cut and boost. At 12o’clock, they are flat.LOW is tuned to ±12dB @ 80 Hz. MID is tuned to ±12dB @ 1 kHz. HIGHistunedto±***********.LEVEL: Adjusts the output level of the unit when the SansAmp sec-tion is engaged. This control has an exceptionally wide range for maxi-mum compatibility with a variety of equipment.BITE Switch: Engaged (in position), Bite activates a presence boost to the SansAmp tube amplifier emulation circuitry to provide extra clarity to the top end. It enhances your attack in distorted settings and adds definition to your notes when playing in clean settings.34OCTA Section OCTAFIL TER: This reinvented palette of expression provides a crazy amount of possibilities, from Minimoog®-style synth to funky town. The controls interact so that you can get dynamically-filteredclean, fuzz, and octave, as well as octave and fuzz together. When Q is at minimum, Range becomes a high-cut tone filter for different versions of clean, fuzz, octave, and octave and fuzz together. Y ou can then blend any of these combinations with your direct signal via the Mix control. And by bringing in some COMP , you can get infinite sustain like a keyboard bass.OCTAVE Switch engages a monophonic, classic ‘80s sub-octave effect when pushed in.FUZZ Switch engages the fuzz effect when pushed in.RANGE: Controls the frequency range of the dynamic filter and is dependent on the volume of your instrument and how hard or soft your attack is. At minimum, the input signal has no effect over the sweep of the filter. At maximum, the input signal determines the over-all sweep of the filter, which becomes greater as the signal gets higher. Q: Adjusts the band width and sharpness of the dynamic filter. At minimum, it’s smooth and allows the Range control to act like a tone control that slightly rolls off the higher frequencies. At maximum, it will provide the most dramatic transformation.MIX: Blends in the amount of your direct instrument signal.Minimum (7 o’clock): direct signal of your instrument only.Midway (12 o’clock): 50/50 mix of your direct instrument signal and the affected signal (filtered/unfiltered fuzz and/or octave).Maximum (5 o’clock): affected signal only (filtered/unfiltered fuzz, oc-tave, fuzz and octave).SIGNAL FLOW OF THE OCTA SECTION:See Page 8for Reference settings, which illustrate the relationship of the controls and switches, and various combinations you can achieve within this section.56CHR SectionCHORUS: This single chorus control injects a detuned voice into the main analog signal path to create the effect of 2 or more instruments in unison. This eliminates the need for a speed control, as increasing or de-creasing changes the amount and therefore, the depth of the effect.OTHER GOODIESCHROMATIC TUNER: The CHORUS/TUNER footswitch en-gages the chromatic tuner. Simply hold the footswitch down to engage the tuner, which will simultaneously mute the signal path. The LED inthe tuner window will then light up. If the green light is on, you’re in tune. If you’re not, the red ar-rows serve as indicators:Arrow points up = Flat. Raise the pitch.Arrow points down = Sharp. Lower the pitch. As you get closer to being in tune, the arrow will blink faster and turn off when you are in tune. The green light then comes on and you’re good to go.HEADPHONE: Switches the 1/4-inch output into headphone mode to drive both sides and provide higher powered output.NOTE: Be sure to disengage when going di-rect to a mixing board or amplifier, as it will easily clip the signal.1) Using the XLR Output. For optimal sound when directrecording and running direct to the mixing board of a PA system, theSansAmp section should be engaged.2) Using the Bass Fly Rig with headphones.Remember todisengage the switch when going direct to a mixing board or amplifier,as it will easily clip the signal.3)Tech 21 controls are unusually sensitive and tend to per-form well beyond what would be considered “normal.” So you neednot set everything at max to get maximum results. For instance, tobrighten your sound, rather than automatically boosting High all theway up, try cutting back on Low first.4) To find the best settings for interacting with your other gear, you may need to use radically different settings for each individual wayyou use it. Y ou need not be discouraged or suspect something is wrongwith the unit. If you’ve got your sound, you’ve simply found the right bal-ance to complement each individual piece of gear. We recommend youstart with the tone controls at 12 o’clock and cut or boost as necessary.5) Tech 21 pedals have exceptionally low noise levels. However, they may amplify noise emanating from the input source. T ominimize noise, we recommend active electronic instruments have thevolume set so that the clip light barely comes on when in Bypass, andhave the tone controls positioned flat. If you need to boost, do soslowly and sparingly. Also check for pickup interference by movingyour guitar or turning the volume off. Be aware single coil pickups aremore likely to generate noise.6) Placement notes: The Bass Fly Rig can be treated as an ampli-fier or preamp when it comes to setting up your signal chain:Place the following effects BEFORE the Bass Fly Rig:Phaser/Vibe, Overdrive, Wah.Place the following effects AFTER the Bass Fly Rig:Delay,EQ,Flanger,Phaser (yes, after is good, too),Pitch Shifter,Reverb.7) Buffered bypass eliminates the shortcomings associated with“true bypass” (pops and clicks, and high-end loss when multiple pedalsare connected together), as well as signal loss associated with othertypes of switching circuits.8) Custom actuators. All T ech 21 pedals feature smooth, custom,silent-switching actuators.7891011121314。
