"The Godfather" is a classic American crime film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, based on the novel of the same name by Mario Puzo. The movie was released in 1972 and has since become a cultural phenomenon, influencing countless other films and popularizing the Italian-American mafia genre. The film tells the story of the Corleone family, a powerful mafia clan based in New York City. The patriarch of the family, Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando), is a respected and feared figure in the criminal underworld. When he is targeted for assassination, his youngest son Michael (Al Pacino) takes over as the new head of the family, leading to a series of violent and tragic events. One of the most striking aspects of "The Godfather" is its attention to detail and authenticity. The film is setin the 1940s and 1950s, and the costumes, sets, and dialogue all reflect this era. The use of actual locations in New York City, such as Little Italy and the Lower East Side, adds to the film's realism. The performances in "The Godfather" are also exceptional. Marlon Brando's portrayal of Vito Corleone is legendary, and earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor. Al Pacino's transformation from a reluctant outsider to a ruthless mafia boss is equally impressive. Supporting actors such as James Caan, Robert Duvall, and Diane Keaton also deliver memorable performances. But perhaps the most enduring legacy of "The Godfather" is its exploration of themes such as power, family, and loyalty. The film shows how these concepts can be both a source of strength and a source of corruption. The Corleone family is both respected and feared, and their influence extends beyond the criminal underworld to politics and business. However, their power comes at a great cost, as they must constantly navigate the dangerous waters of rival gangs and internal strife.Overall, "The Godfather" is a masterpiece of American cinema. Its complex characters, authentic setting, and exploration of timeless themes have made it a cultural touchstone for generations. Whether you are a fan of crime films or simply appreciate great storytelling, "The Godfather" is a must-see movie.。

In the film "The Flag of Our Fathers", directed by Clint Eastwood, I was deeply moved by the profound and thought-provoking story it presented. This war drama, released in 2006, depicts the true story of the six soldiers who raised the American flag during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II. As a viewer, I was captivated by the way the film explored the themes of heroism, patriotism, and the impact of war on individuals and society. The film begins by introducing the three surviving soldiers who are hailed as heroes for their role in the iconic flag-raising photograph. As the narrative unfolds, we are transported back in time to witness the grueling battle on the small volcanic island of Iwo Jima. Through a series of flashbacks and interviews, the film delves into the personal struggles and sacrifices made by these brave men, as well as the unintended consequences of the photograph that turned them into national symbols. One of the key themes explored in "The Flag of Our Fathers" is the nature of heroism. The film challenges the traditional notion of heroes as flawless individuals by revealing the raw emotions and vulnerabilities experienced by the soldiers. It conveys the immense pressure they faced in living up to the expectations of being "heroes" and the psychological toll it took on them. This portrayal of heroism as a complex and multifaceted concept is both refreshing and thought-provoking.Moreover, the film highlights the power of symbolism and the manipulation of public opinion during times of war. The photograph of the flag-raising becomes a potent symbol of American heroism and victory, utilized by the government to generate support for the war effort. However,as the film delves deeper, it becomes apparent that the truth behind the photograph is more complex than the glorified image portrayed. The soldiers themselves struggle with the notion of being heroes and grapple with the guilt of having left their fallen comrades behind. This exploration of the dichotomy between myth and reality is compelling and emphasizes the importance of questioning official narratives.Another significant aspect of the film is its examination of the impact of war on individuals and society. "The Flag of Our Fathers" reveals the harsh realities of combat, depicting the soldiers' experiences of fear, loss, and trauma. It also portrays the difficulties faced by the soldiers upon returning home, as they struggle to readjust to civilian life and reconcile their wartime experiences. By shedding light on the personal cost of war, the film prompts the audience to reflect on the profound consequences of armed conflicts on both individuals and society as a whole. In terms of cinematography, "The Flag of Our Fathers" is visually stunning. Clint Eastwood effectively captures the chaos and brutality of war, juxtaposing intense battle scenes with poignant moments of camaraderie and humanity. The monochromatic color palette and evocative lighting choices contribute to the film's somber tone, enhancing the emotional impact of the narrative. The performances by the cast, particularly Ryan Phillipe, Adam Beach, and Jesse Bradford, are commendable as they bring depth and authenticity to their respective characters.Overall, "The Flag of Our Fathers" is a powerful and poignant film that explores the complexities of heroism, the manipulation of public opinion, and the human cost of war. Clint Eastwood's direction, coupled with strongperformances and evocative cinematography, makes for a compelling cinematic experience. This film serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by previous generations, urging us to reflect on the importance of recognizing the true heroes and the devastating consequences of war.。
As I watched the movie about my parents' generation, I couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration and gratitude for their resilience and perseverance. The movie depictedthe hardships and challenges they faced, and it made me realize the sacrifices they made for our family and for a better future. One particular scene that struck me was when my father recounted his experience of working long hours in a factory to support our family. He talked about how he had to endure the tough working conditions and the physical toll it took on his body. It made me appreciate the sacrifices he madeto provide for us and to give us opportunities he never had.Another aspect of the movie that resonated with me was the strong sense of community and camaraderie among my parents' generation. They relied on each other for supportand leaned on their friends and neighbors during difficult times. It made me reflect on the importance of building strong relationships and supporting one another, something that I often take for granted in today's fast-paced world.Watching the movie also made me realize the importance of cherishing the simple joys in life. My parents' generation didn't have much in terms of material possessions, but they found happiness in the little things – a shared meal with family, a gathering with friends, or a moment of laughter amidst the struggles. It reminded me to appreciate the moments of joy and to not get too caught up in the pursuit of material wealth.Overall, the movie gave me a deeper appreciation for my parents' generation and the values they instilled in me. It made me reflect on the importance of hard work, community, and finding happiness in the simple things in life.

I just watched a film with my father and it was quitean experience. The film was a thriller and it kept us onthe edge of our seats throughout. The first thing that struck me about the film was the cinematography. The camera work was amazing and it really added to the tension of the film. The lead actor gave a very convincing performance and really embodied the character's fear and desperation. The tension was built up graduallythroughout the film, and there were several moments where I thought I knew what was going to happen, only to be surprised by a plot twist. The film also had a very effective score. The music was used sparingly, but when it was used, it really added to the tension and helped to create a sense of dread.Overall, I really enjoyed watching this film with my father. godfather1英文影评
The Godfather was directed by an Italian-American director Francis Ford Coppola. This almost three-hour long, gangster saga film won three Oscars: Best Picture, Best Actor and Best adapted Screenplay, as well as the other seven nominations. This film shows viewers the Mafia world from the inside by two story lines going through the film. Lighting and colour play a very important role to make the audience feel the Mafia world’s violence, ruthlessness and bloodletting. The choice of actors and characterisation is successful in this film, especially Marlon Brando’s perfect performance. In this film, the story unfolds chronologically and the plot is a straightforward narrative. There are two story lines going through this film: the major one i s Don Vito Corleone’s family Mafia business filled with horrific violence, murder and vengefulness, and the transfer of power from Vito to Michael: Vito change from a wise powerful godfather into a playful old grandfather, while Michael develops from a young man who is not part of the family business to a new Mafia leader; the other one is the bittersweet romantic home life and their experiences as a family, such as Connie’s wedding and Michael’s Sicily wedding, kitchen cooking, Christmas shopping and a baptism. These two story lines are intertwined and give audiences very strong images. The Godfather successfully shows the audience not only the relationship among all of the family members, but the connections between business and personal affairs as well.Lighting and colour establish the atmosphere of a film. It can communicate an atmosphere of happiness, fear or sadness. Generally, soft and bright lighting makes the audience feel comfortable and relaxed while hard and dark light make the audience feel unease and fear. At beginning of this movie, at Connie’s wedding, with a very bright lighting, under the nice warm sunshine, everyone is dancing and singing. The audience can tell the characters are very relaxed and really enjoy the wedding. Back in the go dfather’s office however, in a dark, grim and stuffy room, they are talking about business. The use of a dark lighting technique expresses the darkness and violence of Mafia world. In this movie, killing and murder generally happen in dark areas or in the evening, such as when Vito Corleone is in the hospital, and then when Michael shoots Sollozzo and McCluskey in the small restaurant. Michael’s Sicilian life is so different compared with the whole story. With nice soft music, it shows the audience that Michael is walking on the hills under the warm and bright sunshine andsheep are running around him. In Sicily, he falls in love at the first sight with Apollonia, a nice Sicilian girl. After they get married, they live a short happy life there until Apollonia is murdered in car explosion intended for Michael. By the extreme change of circumstances, the audience get very strong visual contrast. As a part of narrative, the dialogue is very important for the audience’s understanding in this film. In the first scene of this movie, a man comes to ask for punishment for his daughter’s rapist and the godfather asks him why not come to him immediately. “I went to the police like a good American,” the man says calmly at the beginning. But when he mentions the judge’s sentencing in the court case, he becomes anger and loses control. Later Don Vito Corleone replies “Why did you go to the police? Why didn’t you come to me first? What have I ever done to make you treat me so disrespectfully? If you’d come to me in friendship, then this scum that ruined your daughter would be suffering this every day. And if, by chance, an honest man like yourself should make enemies……then they would become my enemies. And then they would fear you.” This almost three-minute long dialogue not only gives the audience the first impress of the godfather, but also supports the wholemovie and makes the story more acceptable. Without doubt, the dialogue plays a very important role in this movie. For example, during Connie’s wedding, Michael tells Kay that he is not a part of the family and he is going to marry her, but when Michael saves Vito’s life by removing his bed into another room and whispers to the unconscious man:”I am with you now.” Here is the whole story’s turning point. The most impor tant thing to the family is loyalty, which has been said many times in the film. Another commandment spoken by Michael is “Don’t ever take sides against the family.”In the extremely long film, there are many characters and their relationships are very complex. However, by the end of Connie’s wedding, most of the main characters have been introduced and the audience can even recognise their personalities. For example, the traitor Paulie who betrays the godfather shows up three times during the wedding and we already can tell his personality clearly. The first time, when he sees Clemenza dancing and tries to be obsequious to him, his boss just tells him to do what he should do and he gets unhappy, so we can tell he is not satisfied with his present position; the second time, he speaks to himself after he sees Connie putting money into her handbag, and we can tell he is very greedy formoney; the last time, after Sonny throws the photographer’s camera on the ground, Paulie goes ahead and kick it, which means he want to show his boss his loyalty, but generally this kind of people is not loyal. So that is why he will betray the godfather later.“The Godfather” himself is the central character at the beginning the movie. When he is shot and his older son Sonny is killed, this position starts to go to his youngest son Michael. After the Don retires, Michael takes over the family business and becomes the godfather. The rest of the characters are also very important, such as Tom Hagen, as the godfather’s adopted son and a lawyer; Jack Woltz, a Hollywood star; and Luca Brasi, the loyal killer. The casting of this film is well-picked and successful. The good choice of actors bolstered the potential of the film. An outstanding performance by Al Pacino and a strong characterisation by Marlon Brando both show the audience a powerful Mafia leader. Marlon Brando’s performance is so skilful that he does look and sound the part of the old Don Coreleone by using wheezy and whispery voice, and the deliberate lack precision movement.“The Godfather is an insightful sociological study of violence, power, honour and obligation, corruption, justiceand crime in American.”(Tim Dirks, ). I think that is why it is so successful. The Godfather has such strong appeal because the audience can see so many things from this movie, such as human virtues, and an immigrant family’s American Dream.。

1.我和我的⽗辈影评英语 "Me and my parents" is a collection of films. The four directors are responsible for different chapters. The four directors selected in the film, Wu Jing, Zhang Ziyi, Xu Zheng and Shen Teng, are all famous as actors, and their box office appeal in China is quite strong. Zhang Ziyi and Shen Teng are still the first directors. For the audience, it is also very fresh to let these four familiar screen faces take charge of the guide tube. The four directors are all Post-70s. Their growth memory coincides with the era memory conveyed by the film, so that they can put their life experience into the film creation. Taking revolution, construction, reform and opening up and the new era as the historical coordinates, I and my parents describe the struggle experience of several generations of parents from the perspective of "home and country", and reproduce the era memory of Chinese people's hard work.2. The film me and my parents is based on Jizhong cavalry regiment, an iron cavalry team with outstanding achievements during the Anti Japanese war. It depicts the military and civilian images of the cavalry regiment and the people of Jizhong fighting against the Japanese aggression together. it reproduces the Anti Japanese story of Ma Renxing, head of the "Jizhong cavalry regiment" and his son Ma Chengfeng, who are brave and good at fighting in history - even if there are machine guns and guns of the Japanese aggressors in front, the "father generation" soldiers still treat death as if they were returning home, charge with their troops and horses, and fight against the enemy. The banner of the "Jizhong cavalry regiment" will always be bright! Director Wu Jing not only restored the story of the cavalry father and son with a magnificent battlefield scene, but also revealed the iron tenderness between the father and son behind the blood of the heroes who threw themselves into the battlefield.3. The story background of the film "me and my parents" takes place during the anti "sweep" of May Day in 1942. Wu Jing and Wu Lei go to battle as father and son soldiers. They play Ma Renxing, head of Jizhong cavalry regiment, and Ma Chengfeng, a correspondent. The preview opens in the form of old photos and takes the audience back to 1942. It is learned from Ma Chengfeng's telegram that the cavalry regiment is in danger of being exposed because of traitors' defection to the enemy. In order to cover the organs of the central Hebei region and safely transfer the old and young women and children left in the village, the cavalry regiment fought with one enemy and hundreds of enemies, fought to kill and contain the enemy's attack under the great disparity of fire, and simply tore a gap with the traditional cavalry tactics. Director Wu Jing 1:1 opened trenches, built a battlefield, and used more than 200 horses to present the majestic scene of cavalry marching forward and horses charging against the enemy, restoring the stirring cavalry battle scene during the war of resistance against Japan. 4. Looking back at history, the Chinese nation has gone through thousands of ups and downs; Stop now, the motherland has cast brilliance in the eventful years of national struggle. Behind this brilliant achievement, we can't do without the people who took root silently after the opening. One of the eternal good qualities of the Chinese nation is the spirit of taking root. The rooted spirit of the Chinese nation is reflected in adhering to faith and taking responsibility. In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, our motherland was not yet rich and strong. Scientists such as Deng Jiaxian and Qian Xuesen, who studied abroad, were gifted and returned home to make contributions after they completed their studies. However, the U.S. government tried to keep these talents by coercion and inducement. They overcame many difficulties, resolutely returned to the poor and weak motherland, and resolutely shouldered the burden of building the motherland. Soon after, China's first atomic bomb exploded successfully, but these builders were ill because of their work. Many of their names are still unknown, but people know that they are rooted in the ground and silently cast the glory of the motherland with faith and responsibility. The rooted spirit of the Chinese nation is embodied in down-to-earth and solid struggle. Sun Jiadong, winner of the medal of the Republic and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said: "aerospace serving the country is my first heart." as the chief designer of Dongfanghong 1, China's first man-made satellite, he proved this with his practical and diligent actions. His colleagues said that no matter how uncomfortable sun Jiadong was or how small and simple his work was, he would be in charge of every project of the project. He always checks every detail of the aircraft repeatedly and works steadily according to the specified steps. Although sun Jiadong is now old, he still struggles in his scientific research postand sometimes works late into the night. The motherland is now rich and strong, but these people who take root in the thick soil are still not arrogant and impetuous, and stabilize the prosperous motherland with solid struggle. It is also because of their existence that towering trees can be so strong and draw out new branches. The rooted spirit of the Chinese nation is to stick to faith, take responsibility in times of crisis, and work hard in a down-to-earth manner when it is strong. With this spirit, the motherland will move towards further brilliance.5. Men and women with high ideals and outstanding figures have been the spirit of the Chinese nation for thousands of years. They spread the essence of all kinds of thoughts in the upper and lower reaches of the Yellow River and the two sides of the Yangtze River, thus becoming the source of the thought of the Chinese nation for thousands of years. We should carry forward our national spirit and let it spread to every corner of the world. The national spirit is first expressed as a kind of patriotism. On the stage of 5000 years of history, countless patriots have appeared one after another. For the peace of the motherland, the country's state and national unity, they did not hesitate to throw their heads, shed blood and give their lives. Because of their patriotism, they "sacrificed their lives to the national disaster and regarded death as a sudden return". It is hard for us to forget General Yue's "loyalty to the country", Premier Zhou's "reading for the rise of China", and the brave soldiers on the battlefield filled with guns and fireworks. The reason why the Chinese nation can stand tall in the east of the world is inseparable from a patriotic spirit. National spirit is also a spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement, self-esteem and self-confidence. Self confidence, like a sharp dagger, solves many problems. Self confidence promotes social progress and national development. This spirit has been handed down from generation to generation. The performance of the national spirit is so much that we should hold high our national spirit and carry it forward. To carry forward the national spirit and develop national traditional virtues, we should start with the small things around us. In fact, there are still many national heroes around us, that is, our teachers. Teachers have trained batch after batch of talents. Don't we say that teachers are not national heroes? Yes, they are. Not only our teachers, but also the Olympic athletes who add glory to our country, hard-working scientists and hard-working front-line workers... We should learn from them. The Chinese national spirit has always been a banner that inspires the Chinese people to unite and struggle. It is the backbone and courage of every real Chinese people and the common spiritual pillar of the people of all ethnic groups! Let's join hands and work together, starting from me and now, to respond to the call of the times, carry forward the national spirit and stand up the backbone of our nation.。

影片中印象特别深刻的是硝烟战场处处升起的Doc(医生)或Corpsman(医护兵)的唤叫。
Bradley
If we wish to truly honor these men, we should remenber them the way the really were" 如果我们想要真正尊敬并瞻仰他们,就应该铭记他们真实的一面。
