They are credited with aspecial ability to think and analyze, and with infinite patience in makingobservations and collecting data. But ability and patience do not account forall scientific disvoeries, which often have much to do with creativeimagination. Indeed a leap of imagination is often the first step towardsdiscovery. Scientists are also noted for their honesty. They place a highpremium on honesty largely because it is essential to their career. Everytheory they formulate is subjected to further testing. Every mistake or lie isbound to be found out. Therefore if any evidence is found contradicting theirideas, scientists do not suppress the evidence but modify or even abandon theirideas. In this way they havebuilt up an immense body of knowledge, which helpsus to understand better ourselves and the world around us.Key to Reading ActivityA1 c2 c3 a4 d 5d6 Behavioral:b,c,e,g,h,iMedical: a,d,fB1 c2 e3 a4 f5 g6 b7 d 8j 9 h 10 i1 serves youright2 precede3 data4 evaluate5 backs up6dramatically 7 radical 8 undergraduates 9 plainly 10 delivered第五册第六单元答案练习答案VocabularyI1 smoothly2 handicap3 for fear4 clumsy5 make a point of6 as a matter of course7 highlight8 took great delight in9 ill at ease10 adapt 11 role 12 oblivious 13 revolt 14 at the mercy of15 just as well 16 flightII1 departure2 clumsy3 ill at ease4 bump into5 handicap6 highlights7 takes great delight in 8 at the mercy of 9 for fear 10 oblivious to 11 role12 smoothly 13 sore 14 trapping 15 unloading 16 collapsedIII1 It took Bob about two weeks to adapthimself to his new job as sales manager.2 The manager’s secretary makes a point ofarriving at the office fifteen minutes early every morning.3 It’s just as well you didn’t comeyesterday, because we were away.4 The small grocer was at the mercy of thepeople he owed money to.5 Bank officials ask questions as a matterof course when someone wants to borrow money.6 It revolted me to learn that the worldspent so much money on arms while millions of people were dying of hunger.IV1 The highlight of the circus show was theperformance of the great panda, whose clumsy and funny movements amused all thespectators.2 It’s just as well you didn’t takes theSwiss Air fight yesterday—it crashed one hour after taking off and all the 229people on board were killed.3 It never occurred to him that handicappedgirl would feel ill at ease when anyone offered to help her.4 As a man who enjoyed being in control andwho took great delight in giving orders.5 In the past 12 years, Amy has learned tomanage by herself.
When did you come back? ―We came back last Sunday.I dropped my ice cream!重点单词:when back drop meet run及它们两个的过去形式met ran拓展部分:When引导的过去式的特殊疑问句。
I went to Shang Hai. I came back last Sunday… Where did you go? When did you come back? I went to Shang Hai. I came back last Sunday.B.
因此,我会将本册书出现的不规则动词过去式编成一小组有节奏韵律的词组, 比如:have, have ―had meet, meet一met run, run—ran go, go—went…
Did they buy ice creams?动词短语:go to the park/ buy ice creams/ walk to the bus拓展部分:Did you-?
