BEC商务英语(高级)写作模拟试卷125(题后含答案及解析)题型有:1. PART ONE 2. PART TWOPART ONE1.The chart below shows the increase in a country’s industrial output from 2009 to 2011, according to type of ing the information from the chart, write a short report comparing the annual percentage increases in industrial output in the three categories of industry during the period.Write 120-140 words.正确答案:IntroductionAs requested, we are providing you our report about the industrial output from Vietnam during the year 2009 till 2002.FindingsState-owned industry has slightly risen from 11% to 13% and stable for the last two years. The none-state industry started close to 20% and has fallen now to 18%. Foreign-invested industry was at 2000 similair as the state-owned industry. However the output has fallen deeply at the year 2002 but it strengthened in an outstanding turn over at the year 2002. Furthermore with the output from 2002 the losses from 2001 are completely covered.ConclusionGenerally it can been said that the industrial output from Vietnam is on a good way. In special the state owned and foreign industry.RecomendationIt is recommended that on deeper examination in the non-state industry is necessary to find out why the output has decreased. Furthermore we should reconsider our investment policy in the foreign invested industry.PART TWO2.One of your biggest customers recently started purchasing from a competitor instead of from your organisation, and your Managing Director has asked you to investigate the reasons for this. Write your report for the Managing Director: explaining how you investigated the reasons giving details of what you discovered suggesting a way of dealing with the situation.正确答案:We are going to Lose one of our Biggest Customer IntroductionThe aim of this report is to analyse the current situation with the danger of losing one of our biggest customer and give some reasons why this has happened. The report also Includes recommendations to deal with this situation.Reasons for the SituationThe reasons for this situation seem to be heavy. We had been asked for claryfication and rather we went to the chairman of the company to ask some questions. What we found was that competitors offered better conditions as we did. This can be attributed to the fact that the quality of the products is different. Moreover, the particular customer has had delivery problems and trubles with the service. This referers to a weak experience in the past and it seems unlikely for the convidence between business partners. We therefore have to find a solution how to improve the relationship for thefuture.RecommendationsThe competition in this sector is strong. We should therefore consider a special training in providing the company and its service. In addition, we should make an annual survey with customers to see how satisfied they are with our current service. To summarize I think that the future prospects are promising.Your comments on the above report would be very welcome.3.An international business magazine recently published an article about your company. However, the article contained a number of errors and was quite negative about your company, so your line manager has asked you to write to the editor of the magazine. Write a letter to the editor of the magazine: describing the errors that the article contained presenting a detailed defence of the company suggesting what you would like the editor to do.正确答案:Dear Sir/MadamWe are writing to complain about your recent article, released on April 10, concerning our company. In our view, the article was disappointing because of the mistakes it contained, which we mention in the next paragraph. Afterwards, we would like to give you our opinion concerning those misleadings. Last but not least, some recommendations to correct the errors.First of all, we would like to outline the wrong informations you wrote in your article which were the sales figures, the environmental protection, the outlook and the redundancies. The article reports about a decrease in our sales. However, our Chairman during his last conference said that the sales doubled. What is more, the article mentioned a non-environmental protection from our enterprise, which is disappointing because we have been taking care about this topic, in fact, we recycle almost all our materials and have recently installed solar panels in our factories.Nevertheless, our perspectives are optimistic and not negative as stated in the article. Moreover, we are going to expand our business, opening two new warehouses and recruiting new staff and not, as you wrote, make redundant people. Finally, we hope that the article will be rettified because of the reasons mentioned before. We are looking forward to receiving from you also a letter of excuses.Yours faithfully4.Your company’s sales have been falling significantly. The Managing Director believes that the current marketing strategy is inadequate and needs revising. You have been asked to write a proposal for a new marketing strategy. Write your proposal for the Managing Director: explaining what is wrong with the current marketing strategy outlining some ideas for a new marketing strategy giving reasons why these ideas would be effective.正确答案:Proposal for a new marketing strategyIntroductionThis proposal suggests some ideas for revision of our current marketing strategy, with the aim to boost our company’s sales.FindingsThe fact that our sodas have fallen significantly over the last three monts requires an urgent action. Our sales team has already taken some measures: at the start of March, when noticed first signs of falling, they gave adiscount to some categories of customers, especially the ones highly affected by the curent economic crisis. However, that has not given any result yet. However, the current situation is not the only factor causing the fail. Our marketing strategy also has to be considered and adjusted to the changed conditions. When we defined it, during the 2009 Business plan preparation (which was last summer), the market research done by our leading agency of such type indicated a need for premium products development. This is why we targeted new consumer groups, i.e. ones with high income, and all the consequent marketing activities aimed to attract this specific group.According to my opinion, the current marketing strategy does not fit with the current situation.RecommendationWe should organize a new market research, which woud give us an idea on our customers and consumers’needs in this particular moment. There are strong indications that the picture will significanty differ from the previous one, i.e. that they would rather go for cheaper products: The next phase would be to start with multiple promotions, targeted to different groups of consumers, e.g. children, students, etc. We should employ TV advertising as a main channel, since it is the most popular one. In addition with that, promotion-related events should be organized in all bigger cities. I recommend also our presence at concerts and music shows.CONCLUSIONIn conclusion, there is a need to revise our marketing strategy towards “value” products. That would at least keep our sales volume at the same level, of course if we support the process effectively. In addition, we will enhance our public image by better understanding of our consumers’ concerns. For that reason, I strongly recommend to implement the changes as soon as possible.。

Leisure travel, for example, was becoming increasingly competitive and turning into a commodity. On the other hand, the permanent full-time employees have been increased. They were 200 at the begining of 2004, and slowly incleased its number until the end of 2006, then rapidly increased in 2007 to over 400. As for the temporary contract employees, their number doesn’t seem to be stable. The number increased from 120 to 220 then dropped to 130 over a 2 year - year period in 2004 to 2005. Undoubtedly, their target consumers do not differ muchfrom our company, hwihc has been enjoying its prestige in the cell-phone sales industry.Possible Effects brought on our storeThrough the long-term observation and research by our staff, we have found that a substantial number of our old customers have turned to the new store away from ours. This can be attributed to the fact that the new store has been implementing the ‘price penetration’ strategy since it opened esp. as well as that the cell-phones they provide are of high quality and unique style, according to the survey conducted among customers who have shifted their attention away from our store. Tehrefore, it can be easily predicted that if no Immediate measures are taken, the side-effect on tour outlet will deteriorate. Moreover, the existing customers will be less interested in our product, and iit will be more difficult for us to expand our customer base.Measures that can be TakenFaced such situation, the best way to regain customers’ trust and interst on our cellphone products is to pay more attention to the innovation and development of our product so as to further enhance the quality of our products. In this way, can we attract a larger number of customers.Furthermore, the after-sale service of our store could be further improved. Therefore I am writing this report to conquer this problem as effective as I can do.Findings1 As we have just employed 5 new staff in our department. Our office start to feeling insufficient in space that it used to be.2 Since the researching group need a quite working environment which our overcrowded office aparenty can not offer anymore, group members are unsatisfied about the situation right now.3 Due to the fact that there are more people than our working place can be, the ventilation system seems to need to be upgraded.Suggestions1 When the new employees come, their tables is added to our office randomly, so if we can take a afternoon to put all the tables in our office in order, it will definitely change the overcrowded situation.2 A meeting room is needed to add wore than ever now. In this case, those who have to hold a seminar between group members could use a private space instead of the public area in our office. So that other staff will not be bothered by the noisies.3 We can install some new ventilation equipment on the wall. It will cost less than you think, and the problem is solved easily by making a phonecall. Signed, sealed, delivered.ConclusionAll the problems above are actually much easier to solve than they seem to be. But getting the new staff and the gurus united is another story. BEC商务英语(高级)写作模拟试卷69(题后含答案及解析)题型有:1. PART ONE 2. PART TWOPART ONE1.Write a short report about coffee-making and breaks. Write 120-140 words.正确答案:It is very interesting that the coffee-making habits of our employees have been noticed by other people in the company. It appears as if the time taken up by the making of coffee could be put to more productive use. We have also known for several years that there have been a number of problems connected with the motivation of our work-force, but the role played by coffee drinking has so far not been clarified. In one or two departments r staff seem to talk about nothing else but coffee breaks: how long is it till the break, whose turn is it to make it, etc. This unfortunate development has been discussed with the heads of department in my division on several occasions. They believe the subject of automated coffee machines, one for each department for example, is not very popular with a large number of staff. The staff think that the company would be trying to make money out of them. So I think that there is a grave danger that the actions of the management could be misunderstood. Nonetheless, I feel that we should try and limit the coffee breaks. We should try to prevent the staff from gathering round the coffee-making area and chatting for so long. I wonder if you have heard of the experience of our American sister company. They have a central coffee-making facility for all the divisional offices. This is then brought to the staff at their desks. In this way there is no need for a break. In theory this is surely one way of making working time more efficient.PART TWO2.Answer one of the questions 2, 3 or 4 below. Question 2 Your department has followed individual buying decisions for a long time. Write a report about it. Write 200 —250 words on the separate answer paper provided.Question 3 You have received feedback complaining about your service. Write a letter to apologize and explain.Question 4 Write a proposal about time control. Write 200 —250 words on the separate answer paper provided.正确答案:Question 2 Individuals themselves vary greatly and so does the time and mental effort devoted to buying decisions. Since people are motivated differently, what is exciting for one person may be boring for another. People also learn differently. Some are slow, while some are fast. Some remember and some don’t. People’s unique personalities also tend to affect their buying decisions. For example, generally happy people tend to wear bright, colorful clothing; more serious people tend to wear grays and blacks. Assertive and aggressive types tend to buy sports cars;more conservative people tend to stick with sedans. Perception is another individual influence on buyer behavior. Different consumers perceive a marketing strategy in different ways. Consider two consumers: Jack is a man from a small town on a budget vacation; Steve is a business traveller on an expense account. Steve is happy with a hotel room at $ 75 a night, but Jack rejects the price as absurd. The difference in perception of the price may be caused by how much money each consumer has at the time or by the person’s prior experiences with hotels. Individual buying behavior is also influenced considerably by attitude. We all have positive or negative feelings toward other things. When you respond that you like or dislike a certain firm or product, you are revealing your attitude toward these things. Suppose that a local survey showed that people tend to distrust large organizations, small retailers might reinforce this attitude by stressing the homey, personal service in their downtown shops. The large department stores at the mall might advertise as a collection of neighborly salespeople who can offer great price and service. Marketers try to reinforce positive attitudes and change negative attitudes by altering their products, services, and image. Besides internal / personal influences, a number of external influences affect buying decisions. These outside influences include people—those in the potential customer’s family or circle of friends and acquaintances and the surroundings in which the potential customer moves. The effect of a person’s family on his or her buying behavior can readily be seen when you look at shoppers in various buying situations. Each family member often plays a part. Family members may influence buying decisions even when they are not present when the purchase is made. For example, parents tend to choose food items from the supermarket to satisfy family preferences. Friends, too, both as individuals and as groups or organizations, influence buying behavior. This seems to be especially true for teenagers. Thus jeans, jewelry, shoes, and even bicycles tend to be purchased by teenagers on the recommendations of their friends. Influence on buying behavior also comes from the customer’s surroundings: the school, the job, the neighborhood, and even the weather. A young professional who works in a smoggy city may buy dark-colored suits instead of light colored ones so that she will look well-groomed on the job despite the miserable, dirty weather outside. A child may insist on a Superman lunch-box because all of the kids at the school have one.Question 3Data Systems Group Computer Sales Sen Ice Division 5645 Arlington Boulevard Falls Church, V A.2046 (703) 555-6500 July 10, 1991 Mr Paul Lowry Bradley-Driscoll Corporation Customer Service Organization 7001 Elkridge Landing Road Baltimore, MD 21203 Dear Mr. Lowry, Approximately four months ago, Strategic Data Corporation (SDC) contracted with Bradley-Driscoll for software maintenance. Recently, I received feedback from their employees indicating that they were dissatisfied with the level of service they had received. Enclosed is a copy of the letter from Strategic Data Corporation on this subject. As a member of the sales team responsible for technical support, I am concerned that their discontent with the software support might hinder future sales. It is possible that the problem might lie in the expectations that Strategic Data has developed for the software maintenance process. It was SDC’s intention to be able to call upon the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) if questionsarose dealing with operational concerns or general information nation. According to Strategic Data, these types of questions elicit a snobbish response from the TAC staff. Apparently, the software analysts believe that customers should have thoroughly investigated the manuals before calling to obtain answers to questions that are documented. Although this might be theoretically valid, it is not appropriate to criticize customers in a harsh manner about TAC policies. Instead, these procedures should be stated in a polite way with the hope that customers will not contact the TAC unless they have a valid reason. At this point, I think it would be appropriate for you to send a letter to Strategic Data, apologizing for the misunderstanding and explaining the policies of the TAC. I hope that you will be understanding of the needs of our customers during their initial learning curve and compromise somewhat so they may obtain the support they need. Your understanding and professionalism will help foster a positive and successful customer-vendor relationship. If you wish to contact me to discuss the situation, please feel free to do so at (703) 555-6500. Sincerely, Frank Jansen Systems Engineer FJ/iah Enclosure CC: Anna Brauner Rick HalsteadQuestion 4 Keeping Flexible Hours Under Control According to a market research survey of personnel managers, over 70 percent have studied flexible hours in detail yet are waiting for staff to take the initiative. Their reluctance is based on their fear of being unable to control people’s movements. The main ingredient of a successful transfer from fixed hours is good staff consultation. In this process the first step is to find out if, in fact, the staff are generally in favor of a flexitime system. The next issue to ascertain is the beginning and the end of the “core time”.This is the time when the company would expect all employees to be a-vailable and is usually around six hours. As a starting point find out what employees’existing patterns of work are, their starting and finishing times. Employers are usually concerned that communication is difficult outside this core period. In fact, communication usually improves with telephone calls and visits restricted to the core periods leaving the flexible periods free for more concentrated individual work. To find out the extent of the flexible hours, employees would need to give the times they would be prepared to start work at the earliest and finish work at the latest. Given that flexitime is most productive when work goes in peaks and troughs, then it also has to be established that employees are willing to do overtime if necessary. Management is easier with a workforce who are willing to stay on to finish a job when they know that time can be taken off in lieu. Having found out which times suit staff best in terms of core time, the other variable to be decided is the best way of organizing lunch hours. Again the starting point is the existing practice and, having established what time people normally take their lunch, they should be offered the three options, deciding which is their first preference. These are for everybody to take their lunch break at the same time, for a two hour break to be designated with staff opting for an hour within that time or for lunch-to-be taken when it suits each person. The first will depend very much on the type of business. With front line services, the hour at the same time for all may not be an option of the public expecting a certain level of service. In any consultation, it is wise to remember that staff may know better than the management and foresee problems not immediately transparent. Always ask if they have any othersuggestions. Real consultation will mean that the introduction of flexitime has a greater chance of success and management fears are unfounded. In virtually all cases studied, staff do not react to flexitime by arriving and leaving at all manner of odd times. They, in fact, keep more or less to their old times and keep flexibility for emergencies such as peak workload or children’s birthdays.。

PART SIXPART ONELook at the statements below and the five extracts from an article about ‘offshoring’, the shift of service jobs to other countries, on the opposite page.Which extract (A, B, C, D or E) does each statement (1-8) refer to?For each statement (1-8), mark one letter (A, B, C, D or E) on your Answer Sheet. You will need to use some of these letters more than once. There is an example at the beginning (0).Example:0 Offshore functions will not necessarily stay abroad as financial considerations change.Off shoring AAn article in McKinsey Quarterly says that some companies which have moved their back-office functions offshore have missed huge opportunities to reap efficiencies beyond those that come from just using cheaper labour. These companies often merely replicate what they do at home, where labour is expensive and capital is relatively cheap, in countries in which the reverse is true. They forget an additional benefit is that offshoring allows companies to work round-the-clock shifts, ferrying data back and forth from one place to another, and that it also allows them to rethink the way they solve IT problems. The most successful operators redesign business processes to take full advantage of the new environment’s potential.BThere is no doubt that customers with complex queries requiring local understanding do not respond well to far-off operators repeating a series of specially learned responses. Convergys, one of the world’s biggest providers of ‘contact-centre services’, advises companies to shift simple queries offshore while retaining the more complex ones on the same shore as the caller. It calls this process ‘rightshoring’, and estimates that about 80% of the companies that it is working with in Britain are planning to split their call-centre operations in this way.CHarris Miller, president of the Information Technology Association of America, a lobby group, says that offshore locations have so far captured just 3-4% of all American companies’outsourcing. The bulk remains onshore in the hands of big firms such as Accenture and IBM. In fact, 60% of major corporates are doing nothing, or are only just beginning to investigate the potential of offshoring. Nevertheless, some big companies have told him that up to 40% of their outsourced business could end up offshore. That suggests the industry still has a long way to grow.DOne thing currently limiting the ability of companies to outsource tasks offshore is the inflexible architecture of modern business-information systems. It forces firms to perform tasks as a series of discrete steps. So a business wanting to outsource some of those steps (billing, for instance), but not others, gets involved in complicated flows of information that are prone to error. Newer software and hardware promise a future in which firms will be able to outsource smaller slivers of their business. They will not, as now, have to commit to outsourcing the whole of a department or nothing.EManyservice jobs are in industries like hotels and restaurants, or in public services like education and health, most of which can never be moved abroad. There are also alternative pools of labour to be tapped at home. Citigroup, for instance, has hired about 100 college students in America to do programming for it. In addition, some of the tasks currently going to low-cost offshore centres may eventually return because their underlying technologies will evolve in such a way that it makes economic sense to put them back in the home country.1.There is evidence that the use of offshoring will increase.正确答案:C2.Offshoring is not an option in certain sectors.正确答案:E3.The structure of businesses can make offshoring problematic.正确答案:D4.People consulting offshore staff may find the service unsatisfactory.正确答案:B5.Offshoring is still an untried and untested concept for many companies.正确答案:C6.Technology may enable companies to target aspects of their business for offshoring.正确答案:D7.The benefits of offshoring are not confined to lower costs.正确答案:A8.Strategic planning in the location of services may facilitate more successful offshoring.正确答案:BPART TWORead this text from an article about job interviews. For each question (15-20), mark one letter (A, B, C or D) on your Answer Sheet.Small companies often struggle in a crucial area - the recruitment of additional staff. With little time or budget for recruitment and training, mistakes are made all too st year, Sally Thomas, managing director of a small software company, thought she had found the ideal project co-ordinator to handle long-term client relationships, after a two-year search. ‘We had already tried a couple of internal people, but they were not suited to the role,’she says. “The role does not require a detailed knowledge of information technology, but does demand enough expertise to understand current and future projects and the ability to talk about them meaningfully and sensitively to customers.’ Ms Thomas and her technical director gave several short-listed candidates in-depth interviews and psychometric tests. They then decided to follow their instinct and pick the individual who had performed least well in the tests but felt like the right person for the job. The new project co-ordinator lasted just six weeks. ‘It was very disappointing,’ says Ms Thomas. ‘In the end the psychometric test proved to be more accurate than our own belief in who was best.’ Luckily the candidate who scored most highly in the tests was still available and is now doing well in the job.Tony Jones used personal contactswhen setting up his electronic repair services company, recruiting four people he already knew for the top management team. This worked well, but on technical staff he has been less successful, with a 50% drop-out rate in just four months. ‘It’s easy to make snap judgements because you’re so busy running the business,’ Mr Jones says. ‘Instead of a thorough testing process you tend to do it too fast. Someone seems like a nice person who knows what they’re doing, so you give them the job but eventually you come to regret your decision.’Mr Jones has tried employment agencies, but finds them expensive and lacking in knowledge of sectors such as electronics. ‘Finding electronic engineers is not like looking for bankers for example,’ he says. ‘The right people for us tend to have been stuck in the bedroom with a soldering iron in their youth, rather than having done particularly well academically. We could be talking about the dark side of the moon as far as most agencies are concerned.’Recruitment from outside is a huge problem for small companies, but according to Louise Punter, chief executive of the Surrey Chamber of Commerce, ‘People who have moved from other firms bring a fresh look and a big injection of new ideas.’Those who have worked for medium-sized or large companies are particularly valuable, because they are familiar with processes and systems that can be just as effective in a company of ten people as in a company of thousands. ‘Small companies tend to deal only with the immediate problem, whereas a larger organisation would put in place a process that would prevent the same thing going wrong again. People who know how to do this can be very valuable.’On the other hand, given the current skills shortage, low unemployment and the expense involved in recruitment, it makes sense to promote from within where possible. ‘A classic mistake is that companies overlook the skills their existing staff have: for example, a marketing person might have good financial skills,’says Mrs Punter. She recommends conducting a skills audit to identify staff expertise, in particular what is transferable or not being fully exploited. In larger companies, these issues often come out in appraisals, but in small ones they are easily missed. Not surprisingly, finding the right staff can present small companies with their biggest challenge.15.Appointing a new project co-ordinator made Sally Thomas realise thatA.she had misjudged the value of different methods of selection.B.few people had the right combination of qualities for the job.C.she had underestimated the time required to choose the best candidate.D.internal promotion was unlikely to lead to a successful appointment.正确答案:A16.In the third paragraph, what point does Tony Jones make?A.Different jobs require candidates to have different qualities.B.The demands of running a business ought to take priority over interviewing.C.The most effective method of selection is personal contact.D.A mistake in the choice of candidate can have a long-term effect.正确答案:D17.What criticism does Tony Jones make of agencies?A.They do not hold enough discussions with employers.B.They fail to focus on the appropriate skills.C.They underestimate the demand for electronic engineers.D.They do not react quickly enough to technical developments.正确答案:B18.According to Louise Punter, it is useful for small companies to recruit people whoA.understand the problems of small businesses.B.have experience of similar-sized organisations.C.can apply knowledge gained elsewhere.D.have designed systems in their previous job.正确答案:C19.In the sixth paragraph, what point does Louise Punter make about small companies?A.They are not likely to be able to afford to recruit staff with the right skills.B.They lack the necessary skills for carrying out staff appraisals.C.They may not be aware of some of the skills of their employees.D.They depend too heavily on staff developing appropriate marketing skills.正确答案:C20.Which of the following is the writer’s main point in the article as a whole?A.Finding the right people is crucial for small companies.B.Many of the selection tools used by large companies are unsuitable for small companies.C.Recruitment experts should provide a better service for small companies.D.Small companies need to reduce the cost of recruiting new staff.正确答案:APART FOURRead the article below about promotional discounts. You have one minute to prepare your ideas.A Staff recruitment:the importance of building an effective recruitment strategy B Marketing: the importance of finding and keeping the client base C Staff management: how to make a staff management plan正确答案:A Staff recruitment: the importance of building an effective recruitment strategy Yeah, it’s really essential for companies to set up effective hiring strategies. Only in this way can you recruit your ideal employees. It seems to me that companies should follow some procedures when it comes to hiring. Firstly, trie companies should ensure that they have an updated set of information of the employee. Then they should make sure that they promote honesty with employees. Lastly, an effective screening process will ensure that the company is hiring a competent and reliable people.B Marketing; the importance of finding and keeping the client base I do think it’s vital for companies to find customers, especially for new start-up or small businesses. What’s even more important, though, is finding ways to keep them there. In my opinion, the most successful small businesses are the ones that master the art of getting and keeping customers. Only keeping the client base can businesses survive and on the basis, develop for long.C Staff management: how to make a staff management plan A good staff management plan ensures the effectiveness and even the success of a company. To some extent, staff management means “getting things done by other people”. Here I want to emphasise one point that, be precise in your staff management plan. Do not forget to include staff policies and responsibilities in the plan. They are needed to make the business successful. You will need discipline in your workers. Make the policies clear to all. This will ensure that your staff will not have a lax attitude at the workplace.SECTION 3 DISCUSSION (ABOUT 5 MIN)In this part of the test you are given a discussion topic. You have 30 seconds to look at the prompt card, an example of which is below, and then about 3 minutes to discuss the topic with your partner. You have 30 seconds to look at the task prompt, an example of which is below, and then about three minutes to discuss the topic with your partner. After that, the examiner will ask you more questions related to the topic. For two candidatesYou company is planning to reduce the amount it spends on business trips. You have been asked to suggest ways of doing it.Discuss and decide together: how the frequency of business trips might be reduced how the costs of some trips might be reducedFor three candidatesYou company is planning to reduce the amount it spends on business trips. You have been asked to suggest ways of doing it.Discuss and decide together: how the frequency of business trips might be reduced how the costs of some trips might be reduced how to prevent the negative impact about the reduction changes.正确答案:A; Our company is planning to reduce the amount it spends on business trips. We have to suggest ways of doing it.B: In my opinion, the absolute best way to cut the costs of the business trips is not to take some trips in the first place, that is, reducing the total number of trips. Indeed some of the travels are not at all necessary. I think this can be done by not taking part in unneccessary conferences and avoid unneccessary travel by using IT systems such as videoconferencing and email as substitutions for some expensive travels.A: I totally agree with you. You know, some of the face-to-face talks can simply be replaced by a conference call and some travels can be arranged at a later date in conjuction with another trip. I think we cannot shiftout them. The problem that there are trips so necessary that we cannot do without them. Then, in your opinion, are there ways to reduce the cost of the trips?B: Yeah, for some trips we have to make, there are also ways to reduce the costs. I think we should always consider first the cheapest ways of getting around, that is, train and bus, and plan in advance to pay less for the air fare when we have to travel by plane. Generally, the cheaper the air fare, the less flexible it is. The cheapest fares don’t allow you to make any changes to your booking. So we can save money by planning ahead and using a less flexible ticket.A: I see what you mean. Besides that, accomodation is also a major expense. The company should encourage the staff to stay in normal hotels instead of expensive hotels and always ask for a discount.B: I agree with you. Also, when it comes to local transport, employees should be advised not to chooose convenience over cost-effectiveness. For instance, a taxi is much less expensive than a chauffeured car. To make this effective, we can offer some incentive reward to those who save costs in their travel for instance, if the destination is an attractive one, we can allow our employees to stay one more night at leisure when it is weekend.A: Good idea. By doing so, I think we can surely have a significant reduction of travel costs.。

You have to choose one of the topics from the three below and then talk for about 1 minute. You have 1 minute to prepare your ideas.1.Build a website Your small shop wants to build a website. You have been asked to submit ideas on how to do business online. Discuss, and decide together:?feasibility of building a website for the shop?how to run the shop online正确答案:Interviewer: Well, Liming and Liulili, the last part of this speaking test is a discussion task. Your discussion topic is on this task card. You have about 30 seconds to read it carefully. After you have read the task, you will have a discussion on the given topic. Your discussion time is around three minutes. OK? Now read your task card.Well, can you start your discussion now? I’m going to listen to you and then ask you to stop at the end of three minutes.Liulili: Well, a new era is upon us. The Internet is fundamentally changing customer value propositions, service-and-fulfillment models and coot structures. I think that the Internet is a tremendously new place to do business. It’s the first new place where anybody can go to explore marketing. It’s also a new medium. It’s a totally new unexplored creative area for people. We can use it as a selling tool. We can see it used very creatively as an advertising tool, as a marketing tool, as a communications ‘tool. I think it’s really a fascinating new place for people to explore. We’d better grasp the chance.Liming: Yes, you are right. The internet is giving business, especially small business owners a big opportunity and special advantage. Pal online business facilitates communication, collaboration, and the sharing of knowledge with: customers, employees, partners and suppliers. Sales on the Internet helps small business compete in the world market. The Internet market is a many-to-many channel, which provides many customers with information about many suppliers. This distinguishes it from extranets and similar arrangements which provide many of the same services but serve a single seller or buyer. And with Internet you are not limited to state or national boundaries. The whole world is your customer base. It is really amazing. I bet people on the Web tend to order more.Liulifi: I thinkso. People on the Web tend to be adventurous anyway. People who might never have thought of ordering hot and spicy foods, because they see it on the Web, take the opportunity to do it. It’s something that’s never occurred to them, but it’s something totally new.Liming: And now it is up to us to come up with the way of dividing our products up, and arrange them in a logical pattern for customers to follow. Otherwise customers may spend a long time searching, and never find out the information they needed. So we can divide them up in some logical ways.Liulili: Good idea. We’d better provide convenience and our wonderful service to our customers.Liming: Net market makes it easier for buyers to evaluate sources, prices and delivery alternatives. Instant choice, easy comparisons, immediate fulfillment will help to shift the balance of power to the buyers.Interviewer: Do you have any suggestion to small businesses who are considering having a web presence?Liulili: To start a business on the Internet, there are lots of things that you need to think about. For example, if you’re selling something, you have to remember that you’re now a worldwide company. You will be shipping overseas. You will get order from overseas. Be prepared for that.Liming: And customers on the Net are much more likely to want to contact you than any sort of catalog business. Most catalog businesses have very little contact with their customers. Bu[ e-mail is easy. They can e-mail you questions Customers feel more comfortable doing it. So you have to be prepared to spend a fair amount of time responding to them. Interviewer: Do you think a website enables you to get more businesses?Liming: Yes, that really works for a very small shop. We can have our customers all over the world. With the website, we can get orders from all over the world. We have a guy from Germany who ordered for a friend in U. S. We have a guy from England who sends gifts to his family in China. That’s something that small retail establishment could never do in any other way.Liulili: Business online gives small business a big advantage over the typical retail establishment. Now with the Internet, everything is done right from the comfort of the consumers’home, without going to store, which avoids traffic jam and some troubles. They simply point and click. They like to do that, so more businesses are possible.Interviewer: Thank you, Liming and Liulili. That is the end of the speaking test。

BEC高级商务英语考试模拟训练题及答案BEC高级商务英语考试模拟训练题及答案A good friend is my nearest relation.以下是店铺为大家搜索整理的BEC高级商务英语考试模拟训练题及答案,希望能给大家带来帮助!The Negotiating T ableYou can negotiate virtually anything. Projects, resources, expectations and deadlines are all outcomes of negotiation. Some people negotiate deals for a living. Dr Herb Cohen is one of these professional talkers, called in by companies to negotiate on their??behalf . He approaches the art of negotiation as a game because, as he is usually negotiating for somebody else, he says this helps him drain the emotional content from his conversation. He is working in a competitive field and needs to avoid being too adversarial. Whether he succeeds or not, it is important to him to make a good impression so that people will recommend him.The starting point for any deal, he believes, is to identify exactly what you want from each other. More often than not, one party will be trying to persuade the other round to their point of view. Negotiation requires two people at the end saying ‘yes”. This can be a problem because one of them usually begins by saying “no”. However, although this can make talks more difficult, this is often just a starting point in the negotiation game. Top management may well reject the idea initially because it is the safer option but they would not be there if they were not interested. It is a misconception that skilled negotiators are smooth operators in smart suits. Dr Cohen says that one of his strategies is to dress down so that the other side can relate to you. Pitchyour look to suit your customer. You do not need to make them feel better than you but, For example, dressing in a style that is not overtly expensive or successful will make you more approachable. People will generally feel more comfortable with somebody who appears to be like them rather than superior to them. They may not like you but they will feel they can trust you.Dr Cohen suggests that the best way to sell your proposal is by getting into the world of the other side. Ask questions rather than give answers and take an interest in what the other person is saying, even if you think what they are saying is silly. You do not need to become their best friends but being too clever will alienate them. A lot of deals are made on impressions. Do not rush what you are saying---put a few hesitations in , do not try to blind them with your verbal dexterity. Also, you should repeat back to them what they have said to show you take them seriously.Inevitably some deals will not succeed. Generally the longer the negotiations go on, the better chance they have because people do not want to think their investment and energies have gone to waste. However , joint venture can mean joint risk and sometimes , if this becomes too great , neither party may be prepared to see the deal through . More common is a corporate culture clash between companies, which can put paid to any deal. Even having agreed a deal, things may not be tied up quickly because when the lawyers get involved, everything gets slowed down as they argue about small details.De Cohen thinks that children are the masters of negotiation. Their goals are totally selfish. They understand the decision-making process within families perfectly. If Mum refuses their request , they will troop along to Dad and pressure him. If al elsefails, they will try the grandparents, using some emotional blackmail. They can also be very single-minded and have an inexhaustible supply of energy for the cause they are pursuing.
