2008年河南专升本英语试题阅读理解+完形填空翻译及答案

2008年河南专升本英语试题阅读理解+完形填空翻译及答案08年1Procrastination(犹豫不决) is a disease of the mind. A scientific study in recent years has shown that it is a close relative(:相对的亲属亲戚⽐较的)of sadness(悲哀)and attention disorder; that procrastinators tend to(趋向于)be the result of low self-confidence(消沉的⾃信⼼)and are likely to experience anxiety(焦虑) The research has shown, what is more, that the illness has become quite common. Susan Robert, a behavioral psychologist who has written a book called Living With Procrastination, says that about a quarter of the adult population of the United States and Canada is reported to have serious problems with procrastination. “when we say ‘serious’ we mean people for whom procrastination causes great discomfort and suffering. We’ve found that such people are more troubled by daily life than others, that possibility of anxiety is much higher among them than in the rest of the population.”In a society driven by achievement, it is little wonder that not being able to work at full steam will bring people sadness. Surely,in the land of opportunity, this anxiety has produced an industry of experts offering solutions. Many books and specialist solutions have appeared. In exchange for $19.95, Dr. Jerome Murray will send out an audio-cassette(盒式录⾳磁带) called “Protect your future from the thief of procrastination.”Dr. Murray promises that if you follow his step-by-step rules you will be empowered to “turn self-defeat into self-realization”. “Since the start of the 1990s, procrastination has been taken more and more seriously,” said Dr. Roberts, who has been treating patients troubled by the condition for more than 20 years. “It is now recognized as a true mental health problem and is being seen more as a psychological problem and less as a moral issue.”犹豫不决是⼀种精神疾病。

I suggest that you use a multi-stage interviewing process by which the candidate meets with multiple people to provide different opinions and input on the hiring-decision. Again, keep all notes taken during theinterview. These notes should be factual and should detail bservations made by the people conducting the interview as well as quotations of the candidate’s reponses to questions. There should be no inferences made about a candidate in any notes, and no notes should be taken on a resume(简历).Pre-determine three to six questions that will help you uncover the capability of each applicant and ask those same questions to each person that is interviewed. These initial questions will serve as a departure point to base other follow-up questions on. By using the same question in different ways and you will also be able to draw close com parisons between each candidate’s responses, which will help you determine the best match for the position.Developing that interviewing process a little further, time limits should be set on responses to candidates.Today’s job market changes so rapidly that waiting more than 72 hours to inform a candidate how he or she did in an interview is an eternity(永远). Many candidates have multiple interviews within one or two days and plan to take the first job offered that meets their salary and benefits demands. Hired or not, as a candidate, it is much easier to keep a positive frame of mind about a company that is responsive, shows an interest in your success as an individual, and provides feedback (反馈)about an interview within one or two days. Waiting to make a decision about candidates is how other companies manage to hire the “perfect fit”right out from under you!26. They give their owners automatic credit in stores, restaurants, and hotels at home, across the country, and -even abroad; and they make many banking services available as well. More and more of these credit cards can be read automatically, making it possible to withdraw or deposit money in scattered-locations, whether or not the local branch bank is .open. For many of us the "cashless society" is not on the `horizon--it's already here. While computers offer these conveniences to consumers, they have many advantages for sellers too. Electronic cash registers can do much more simply ring up sales. They can keep a wide range of records, including who sold what, when, and to whom. This information allows businessmen to keep track of their list of goods by showing which items are being sold :and how fast they are moving. Decisions to reorder or return goods to suppliers can then be made. At the same time these computers record which hours ate busiest and which employees are the most efficient ,allowing. personnel and staffing assignments to be made accordingly. And they also identify preferred customer for promotional campaigns. Computers are relied on by .manufacturers for similar `reasons: Computer-analyzed marketing reports can help to decide which products to emphasize now, -which to develop for the future, and which to drop .Computers keep track of goods in stock, of raw materials on hand, and even. of the production process: itself.Numerous other commercial enterprises, from theaters to magazine publishers, from, gas and electric utilities to milk processors, bring better end more efficient services to consumers through the use of computers.31. Along With hire; purchase, rental and leasing schemes, they provide encouragement to spend more money. Of course, it is only the foolhardy who succumb to the temptation to live, temporarily at least; beyond their means, and such people would not doubt manage to do so even without credit cards.Advertising campaigns have, however, promoted a growing realization of the advantages of these small pieces of plastic. They obviate the need to carry large. amounts of cash and are always useful in emergencies. All the credit card organizations charge interest on a monthly basis which may work out as high as 25 percent a year, yet judicious purchasing using a card can mean that you obtain up to seven weeks interest free credit. Using the card abroad where items frequently take a long time to be included on your account can extend the period even further. It is worthwhile shopping around before deciding on particular credit card. I t’s necessary to consider the amount of credit granted interest rates which may vary slightly the number and range of outlets though most cards cover major garages, hotels, restaurants and departments stores and of course what happens if your card is lost or stolen. A credit card thief may be sitting on a potential gold mine particularly if there is delay in reporting the loss of the card. However, if used wisely, a credit card can cost nothing or at least help to tide you over a period of financial difficulty.36. Many people suspect that credit cards lure people to .37. The author seems to believe that even in the absence of credit cards, some people would undoubtedly .38. In Para. 2, in addition to the advantages of no need to carry cash and being usefulin emergency, what else is said to be the advantage of credit cards?.39. What’s the main i dea of Para 3?40. The author holds a attitude towards credit cards.Task 4Directions:Read the following passage and complete the outline below it (No.41 through No. 45).Y ou should write your answers briefly on the answer sheet correspondingly.During the holiday break, I finally got around to a promise I made to my mom and dad—to remotely access their PC—to help troubleshoot problems or questions they have about their Dell laptop.A while ago, I download GoToMyPC on my, computer, which allows you to access your computer from any other computer. 河南省历年专升本公共英语考试真题

河南省历年专升本公共英语考试真题

河南省历年专升本公共英语考试真题全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1Once upon a time, there was a province called Henan, and it was a place where lots of students lived. These students were really smart and loved to learn new things, especially when it came to a language called English. You see, English is a language spoken by people all around the world, and it's really important to know it if you want to communicate with people from different countries.Every year, the students in Henan had to take a big test called the "Tertiary Education Entrance English Test." This test was super important because it helped decide if they could go to a really good university or not. The test was all about how well they could read, write, listen, and speak in English. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Wow, that sounds really hard!" And you're right, it was really hard! But the students in Henan were so dedicated and worked really, really hard to prepare for this test. Some students would practice their English by reading books and watching movies in English. Others would join special classes where they could practice speaking and listening to native English speakers. And some students even had special tutors who would help them with their grammar and vocabulary. But the coolest part was that the test was different every year! The questions and passages were always new, so the students had to be really prepared for anything. One year, the test might have a lot of questions about science and technology, while the next year it could be all about history and culture. The test was usually held in a big room with hundreds of students taking it at the same time. Can you imagine how quiet it must have been in there? It was probably so quiet that you could hear a pencil drop! When the test was over, the students would have to wait for weeks and weeks to get their scores back. And let me tell you, those weeks felt like forever! The students would be so nervous and excited to see how they did.If a student did really well on the test, they would get to go to a really good university and study whatever they wanted. Some of them even got to go to universities in other countries, which is super cool! But even if a student didn't do as well as they had hoped, it wasn't the end of the world. They could always try again next year or find another way to achieve their dreams.Overall, the Tertiary Education Entrance English Test was a big deal in Henan Province. It was a chance for students to show off their English skills and prove that they were ready for the next big adventure in their lives. And even though it was really hard, the students never gave up because they knew that with hard work and determination, anything was possible!篇2English Tests for College in Hunan? No Biggie!Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm a 5th grader here in Zhengzhou, the capital of Hunan Province. You might be wondering why a kid like me is talking about college entrance exams. Well, let me tell you - us Hunanese kids start prepping for the big tests pretty early!Every year, students who have completed their 3-year junior college programs take an super important exam called the "Zhuanshengben" or Undergraduate Entrance Exam. It's their chance to get into a 4-year university program. And one of the biggest sections? You guessed it - English! Now English can seem really hard, with all those weird spellings and tongue-twisters. But you know what my mom always says? "Practice makes perfect!" The Zhuanshengben English test has been around for ages, so there are tons of past papers to look at. Let me walk you through what it's like! The Reading SectionThis part has a few different types of passages - conversations, articles, even ads and signs! You have to read each one carefully and answer comprehension questions. From what I've seen in past tests, the topics can be anything from science and technology to culture and economics. There are also words and phrases pulled right from the passages that you need to explain the meaning of. My favorite kind are the creative idioms and slang expressions. Like if the passage mentions "raining cats and dogs", you better know that means raining really hard! The Writing SectionHere's where things get exciting! The writing prompts cover all sorts of interesting situations. One year, test takers had to write a letter to the editor about environmental protection. Another time, they analyzed the traits of a great leader. The keys for writing a top-notch essay are having a clear point of view, lots of supporting details, and greatgrammar/vocabulary. It's kinda like telling an epic story, but with serious real-world topics. No problem for a creative kid like me!The Listening SectionOkay, now we're getting into my personal strength - the listening part! You put on headphones and listen to conversations, lectures, news reports and more. The tasks include filling in blanks, answering questions, and even labeling pictures or maps. The tricky part is that the recordings only play once. That means you have to be a super active listener - write down key points, identify context clues, all that good stuff. I've been practicing by tuning into English podcasts during my bus rides to school! The Translation SectionLast but not least, translation! This has two parts - English to Chinese, and Chinese to English. You have to accurately translate sentences or short paragraphs in both directions. Now this is where knowing vocabulary and grammar rules inside-out becomes crucial. One small mistake and the wholemeaning could change. It's like a code you have to carefully crack! Luckily my parents have been drilling me on common translation stumbling blocks since I was tiny.So there you have it - the not-so-scary Zhuanshengben English test! With enough practice and the right strategies, it's totally manageable. Who knows, maybe you'll see my name at the top of the score list someday. An English master before middle school? Why not!I know this was a super long overview, but I got carried away reliving all my prep work. English has become like a fun puzzle to constantly solve. Let me know if you need any other insider tips for conquering the Zhuanshengben. After all, us Hunanese look out for each other! Time for me to sign off and squeeze in some reading practice before dinner. Study hard, future test champions!篇3My English Exam AdventureHi everyone! Today, I want to tell you about my exciting adventure with the Henan Province Public English Exam for College Transfer. It was a big test for me, but I learned a lot and had so much fun!The exam was held in a big hall with lots of students from different schools. We were all nervous, but the atmosphere was friendly and encouraging. The exam had different sections to test our listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Let me share some of the questions with you!In the listening section, we listened to conversations and answered questions. One question was about a trip to the zoo. We had to listen carefully and choose the correct animal that the people saw. It was tricky, but I remembered my animal names and got it right! The speaking section was my favorite. We had to talk about our hobbies and dreams. I love drawing, so I talked about how I want to be an artist when I grow up. The examiner asked me more questions, and I tried my best to answer confidently. It was like having a conversation with a friend.Next, the reading section challenged us with comprehension questions. We read short stories and answered questions to show our understanding. One story was about a girl who found a magic book. We had to answer where she found it and what happened next. I was so excited when I got the answers right! Finally, the writing section tested our creativity and grammar skills. We had to write a story about our summer vacation. Iwrote about a trip to the beach with my family. I described the blue ocean, building sandcastles, and eating delicious ice cream.I even used some new words I learned in English class! After the exam, we were all relieved and proud of ourselves. It was a challenging test, but we did our best. We made new friends and shared our experiences. I even exchanged contact information with some of them.A few weeks later, the results were announced. I was so happy to see that I passed the exam and earned a good score. It was a great achievement for me. I shared the good news with my family, and we celebrated with ice cream!Taking the Henan Province Public English Exam for College Transfer was an amazing experience. It helped me improve my English skills and gave me confidence. I learned that hard work and determination can lead to success. I am excited to continue my English learning journey and take on new challenges in the future.Remember, my friends, never be afraid to take on new adventures. Believe in yourself and always do your best. You can achieve anything you set your mind to. Good luck on your own English exams and have fun while learning!I hope you enjoyed reading about my English exam adventure. Remember, learning can be fun and exciting! Keep practicing and never give up. You can do it!篇4The Big Test for Grown-Up StudentsEvery year, there is a very important test for the big kids who want to go from vocational school to university. It's called the Henan Annual Examination for Upgrading from Vocational School to University. That's a really long name, so I'll just call it the Big Test. The Big Test has lots of subjects like math, Chinese, and English. English is a funny language with weird squiggles for letters. I'm just learning English in school, but the grown-up students have to know it really well for the Big Test. The English part of the Big Test is super hard, even for the smartest grown-ups. It has reading, writing, listening, and speaking sections. Just thinking about it makes my head hurt! In the reading section, they have to read super long passages and answer questions about the details. The passages are about boooooring topics like economics, history, and science. No fun fiction stories or anything a kid would want to read. Just dry, dense texts filled with big vocabulary words I've never heard of.For the writing section, they have to write essays and articles using proper grammar, clear arguments, and lots of evidence. No silly creative stories allowed! When I write, I can make up whatever I want. But on the Big Test, they get point off for making things up instead of sticking to the facts. My teacher says I have a "wonderful imagination," but that won't help on this test at all. Then there's the listening section where they play audio recordings and the grown-ups have to answer comprehension questions. Can you imagine how boring it would be to just sit and listen to some professor drone on and on about zoology or ancient civilizations? At least in my classes we get to look at picture books while the teacher reads the stories out loud. But not on the Big Test - no pictures at all, just spoken words they have to concentrate on with no fun visuals. Finally, the speaking section is probably the scariest of all. They have to have whole conversations in perfect English, expressing their thoughts and opinions clearly. If I tried that now, I'd just end up babbling nonsense like "the rabbit ate the apple purple forever!" But for this test, they get marked down for not being coherent, organized, and grammatically accurate. No childish rambling allowed whatsoever!Just thinking about having to take such a massive, difficult test makes me want to take a nap. I'm proud of all the grown-up students in Henan who choose to put themselves through this every year in hopes of getting into a good university. I'll be happy sticking to my simple reading, writing, and arithmetic for now. Give me picture books, creative writing time, and counting games any day over that dreadful Big Test!If I ever have to take an exam like that, I'll probably cry. Or maybe wet my pants from being so nervous. Okay, that's a little too babyish, even for a kid like me. But you get the idea - the English part of Henan's big university entrance exam is no joke! I've got mad respect for any adult who can pass that beast of a test. They must be super dedicatived to learning and hugely smart to conquer such a monstrously difficult English exam. Let's hear it for those hardworking men and women stepping up to the challenge year after year! You folks are the real heroes if you ask me.篇5My Big English Test AdventureHi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. I live in Henan Province with my mom, dad, and little sister Huanhuan.Today I want to tell you all about the big English test I had to take last year to try and get my bachelor's degree throughself-study. It was quite an adventure! You might be wondering - why does a 4th grader need a bachelor's degree? Well, the thing is, I'm really, really good at English. I've been studying it since I was just a tiny kid and I can read, write, and speak it almost as well as my native Chinese. My parents and teachers always told me I was a English prodigy! When I was 9 years old, my parents heard about this special program in Henan where kids like me who are super good at English can take a really hard test. If we pass, we get to get a bachelor's degree in English just like kids who go to university for four years! My parents thought it would be a great opportunity for me.At first I was a little nervous about taking such a big test. But my English teachers helped me prepare by going over old test materials from previous years. There were readings, writings, listening sections - all kinds of stuff to get ready for. I worked really hard studying. Finally the day of the test came. We had to go to the testing center in the capital city of Zhengzhou. There were students of all ages there, from little kids like me to teenagers and adults. Thetest took basically all day - it was marathon! But I just kept thinking about how I was working towards my dream of getting that degree. The reading section had all these dense academic passages to analyze and answer questions on. Thank goodness I've been reading English novels since I was 6 or I would have been lost! The writing part had us write essays on topics like environmental protection and modern technology. I tried my best to craft detailed, well-organized pieces.Listening was one of the trickier sections for me. We had to watch videos and lectures then answer comprehension questions. There were all these different accents to follow - American, British, Australian. My little 9-year-old ears weren't quite used to that yet! By the time we got to the speaking section at the end, my brain was fried from concentrating so hard all day.A few weeks later, the results came out online. I was sooo nervous checking them. I had to get my dad to log into the system for me since I'm too little to have those kind of accounts myself. And then...I saw it! I PASSED! I got the scores needed to earn my bachelor's degree in English! My parents were overjoyed and bought me so many presents. Even my teachers at school threw me a little party to celebrate.Getting that degree was a huge accomplishment for a kid like me. I worked harder than I ever had in my life preparing for that test. While most kids my age were just focused on their times tables and spelling bees, I was taking on a grueling university-level exam. It was an incredible challenge, but I pushed through and made it happen.Even though I'm still just in elementary school, having that degree opens up so many opportunities for me. My parents say I can get jobs as an English translator or teacher one day. Or maybe I'll want to work for an international company travelling all around the world. I'm also thinking of going abroad to an English-speaking country for university when I'm older. The possibilities are endless! So there you have it - the story of how I, an ordinary10-year-old kid from Henan, managed to earn myself a bachelor's degree through hard work and determination. Maybe if you're a young English prodigy like me, you'll get the chance to take this crazy test too one day. Just believe in yourself and get ready for an amazing adventure! Let me know if you have any other questions about my experience. Study hard and happy testing!篇6My Experience with the Henan Zhuan Sheng Ben English ExamsHi everyone! My name is Xiao Ming and I'm a 10-year-old student from Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan Province. Today I want to tell you all about the English tests I had to take as part of the "Zhuan Sheng Ben" program. Zhuan Sheng Ben means going from a junior college to a 4-year university program. It's a really important exam that many students take every year. The English part of the exam has been super hard for me. English is my least favorite subject in school. I much prefer math and science because the answers are so clear. With English, there are so many tricky words and grammar rules to remember. It makes my head spin!Last year, I had to take my first Zhuan Sheng Ben English exam. I was really nervous leading up to the test day. My teacher could see how stressed I was, so she gave our class a pep talk. She said the English section wouldn't be as bad as we thought if we just studied hard. I did my best to follow her advice and reviewed all my vocabulary words and read lots of sample passages. Even so, I was still pretty worried. When I got the test paper and looked at the first page, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. The reading comprehension passage was about a really confusing science topic I didn't understand at all. There were so many big vocabulary words that I struggled to get the main idea. I definitely didn't feel very "comprehensive" about that one!Next up were the cloze exercises where you have to fill in the blanks with the right words. I've always found these pretty tricky because you need to analyze the context and tone to pick the correct answer. On this test, one of the passages was about daily life and routines which is usually an easier topic for me. But the other was about economics and trade which is one of my worst subjects after English. I definitely struggled with that set of questions. After the written section, we moved on to the listening part. I was relieved to put the reading and writing behind me, but also dreading what was to come. The listening questions are my absolute worst nightmare! It's so hard for me to catch all the details when the recordings are playing at full speed. My English listening ability is still quite poor.In the first listening passage, a professor was lecturing about the history of early human civilizations. All the dates, names, andplaces just went straight over my head as I desperately tried to write notes. The questions at the end asked very specific details that I totally missed while listening. The second passage was a dialogue between two students talking about their plans for summer vacation. I actually did a bit better on that one because the language was more conversational. But I still missed some of the finer points they were discussing.Overall, I didn't feel great when I left the exam room. My hand was cramped from all the writing, my brain was fried from trying so hard, and I was mentally drained. I wished I had prepared even more, but I also knew I had really given it my all.A few weeks later, I nervously awaited my score report from the provincial education ministry. When I finally opened the envelope, I was overjoyed to see that I had passed the English section! My score wasn't extremely high, but it was enough to allow me to continue my studies at a regular university. I celebrated with my family over a big dinner of my favorite dishes. This year, I'm taking the Zhuan Sheng Ben English exam again to try and improve my score. I've been studying really hard and working on all the areas that gave me trouble before. Mylistening skills are slowly getting better from doing more exercises. I'm also expanding my vocabulary by reading more English books and watching shows with subtitles.Just a few days ago, I took a practice test put out by the Henan education ministry using real questions from previous years. This helped me get a better feel for the actual exam format and content. For the reading comprehension, I faced a passage about environmental protection policies which was pretty dense. But I've learned techniques like skimming for key details and looking for vocabulary cues. The cloze section wasn't too bad this time around. One of the passages was about the advantages and disadvantages of economic globalization. Since I've been exposed to more topics like that this year, I was able to use context to make educated guesses at many of the missing words. In the listening section, the first passage had a student interviewing his history professor about ancient Chinese dynasties. All those historical names and events are still really hard for me to keep track of when listening at full speed. But I tried squinting my eyes and concentrating extra hard this time! The second listening dialogue was actually a fun and casual conversation between friends。

This is the research result of Professor Faulkner, who says that most of our brains are not getting enough exercise and as a result, we are ageing unnecessarily soon.Professor Faulkner wanted to find out why wealthy farmers in northern Japan appeared to be losing their ability to think and to reason at relatively early age, and how the process of ageing could be slowed down.He set about measuring brain volumes of a thousand people of different ages and occupations.Computer technology enabled him to obtain precise measurements of the volume of the front and side sections of the brain, which relate to intelligence and emotion, and determine the human character.Contraction of front and side parts---as cells die off---was observed in some subjects in their thirties, but it was still not evident in some sixty and seventy-years-olds.Faulkner concluded from his tests that there is a simple way to slow the contraction---using the head. The findings show that contraction of the brain begins sooner in people in the country than in the towns. Those least at risk, says Faulkner, are lawyers, followed by university professors and doctors. Whit-collar workers doing routine work are, however, as likely to have shrinking brains as the farm workers, bus drivers and shop assistants.Faulkner’s findings show that thinking can prevent the brain from shrinking. Blood must circulate properly in the head to supply the fresh oxygen the brain cells need “The best way to maintain good blood circulation is through using the brain,” he says. “Think hard and engage in conversation. Don’t rely on pocket calculators”.61. A scientific study in recent years has shown that it is a close relative of sadness and attention disorder; that procrastinators tend to be the result of low self-confidence and are likely to experience anxiety. The research has shown, what is more, that the illness has become quite common. Susan Robert, a behavioral psychologist who has written a book called Living With Procrastination., says that about a quarter of the adult population of the United States and Canada is reported to have serious problems with procrastination. “when we say ‘serious’we mean people for whom procrastination causes great discomfort and suffering. We ‘ve found that such people are more troubled by daily life than others, that possibility of anxieiy is much higher amongthem than in the rest of the population. In a society driven by achievement, it is little wonder that not being able to work at full steam will bring people sadness. Surely, in the land of opportunity, this anxiety has produced an industry of experts offering solutions. Many books and specialist solutions have appeared. In exchange for $19. 95, Dr. Jerome Murray will send out an audio-cassette called “Protect your future from the thief of procrastination. “ Dr. Murray promises that if you follow his step-by-step rules you will be empowered to “turn self-defeat into self-realization”. “Since the start of the 1990s, procrastination has been taken more and more seriously , “ said Dr. Roberts, who has been treating patients troubled by the condition for more than 20 years. “It is now recognized as a true mental heath problem and is being seen more as a psychological problem and less as a moral issue.41.What is the main topic of this passage?A.Don’t hesitate to give up smoking.B.Don’t regard depression as not important.C.Delay can be a sign of illness.D.Don’t work too hard to stay healthy.正确答案:C42.Which statement is NOT true according to the passage?A.Procrastination is a disease of the mind.B.Procrastination is likely to cause a great discomfort and suffering.C.Procrastination is not considered as a psychological problem but moral issue.D.Dr. Jerome Murray provides some ways to get rid of procrastination.正确答案:C43.How does the author look at procrastination?A.It is something like running.B.It is a disease of mind.C.It is not a permitted act.D.It is not full of stress.正确答案:B44.These are the signs of procrastination except______.A.discomfortB.sufferingC.pleasureD.sadness正确答案:C45.What’s the main idea of Dr. Murray’s cassette “Protect your future from the thief of procrastination”?A.Turn defeat to self-realization.B.Turn depression into enthusiasm.C.Procrastination has been taken more and more seriously.D.Turn self-defeat into self-realization.正确答案:DParrots are becoming one of the most popular pets in America for good reasons. The parrot is an extraordinary bird that can be taught to talk, can be easily cared for, and can create a lively atmosphere anywhere. With the help of an energetic parrot owner, a parrot can develop an enormous vocabulary. In addition, a parrot can be trained to say “Pretty boy”or “Polly wants a cracker, “and it also can learn to whistle or sing. No matter what an owner decides to teach a bird, training a parrot takes much patience, but the reward is a stream of chatter. Another reason for the parrot’s popularity is that this pet does not require much care. For example, even a spoiled parrot does not need a house-sitter for the purpose of daily walks and daily feeding. In fact, a parrot owner may leave his or her pet with enough food for five days and have no fear that the parrot will overeat. Still another advantage of owning a parrot is its inexpensive food, including seeds, nuts, corn, and grain—along with an apple, banana, or carrot. Perhaps the most likely reason the parrot is becoming such a well-liked pet is that it is a combination of tameness and wildness. Because the parrot can live in almost any environment, it makes a fine, tame companion for many people. In addition, because it can be easily trained, it is a delightful performer. At the same time, its colorful feathers give it an air of the mystery of the parrot’s native home, the jungle. Thus, the parrot, once a highly valued gift presented to kings and noble families, is now appreciated by a growing number of people.46.A parrot can be trained to do all the following but______.A.talkB.help its ownerC.singD.create a lively atmosphere正确答案:B47.Which of the following is NOT a reason for the easy raising of the parrot?A.It eats very little.B.Its food is inexpensive.C.It does not need a house-sitter.D.It does not require daily walks as dogs do.正确答案:A48.The word “tameness”in the passage means______.A.the quality of being brave or unafraidB.the quality of being kind or warm-heartedC.the quality of being uncontrolled or fierceD.the quality of being gentle or trained正确答案:D49.The word “jungle”probably means______.A.boundless desert with very little plant lifeB.large apartment building with pleasing surroundingsC.wild land overgrown with thick bushes and treesD.snow-covered mountain top in very cold areas正确答案:C50.The writer______.A.likes the parrotB.dislikes the parrotC.doesn’t care about the parrotD.values the parrot highly正确答案:AIn my long life I have seen many changes in our habits and customs and conditions in general. I think that you might be interested if I told you some of them. The world I entered at the age of eighteen when I became a medical student was a world that knew nothing of such advanced things as planes, films, radios or telephones. It was a very cheap world. Prices were stable. When I entered St. Thomas’hospital I rent a set of rooms in Vincent Square for which I paid 18 shillings a week. My landlady provided me with a very good breakfast before I went to the hospital and a dinner when I came back at half past six. I only had to pay for the breakfasts and dinners twelve shillings a week. For four-pence I lunched at St. Thomas’ on bread and butter and a glass of milk. I could be able to live very well, pay my fees, buy my necessary instruments, clothe myself, and have a lot of fun on fourteen pounds a month. And I could always pawn (当掉) my microscope for three pounds. I spent five years at St. Thomas’hospital. I was a bad student, for my heart, as you might have guessed, was not in it. I wanted, I had always wanted to be a writer, and in the evenings, after my dinner, I wrote and read. Before long, I wrote a novel called “Liza of Lambeth” , which I sent to a publisher and was accepted. It came out during my last year at the hospital and it was successful. It was of course an accident, but I didn’tknow that. I felt I could afford to give up medicine and make writing my profession; so, three days after I graduated from the school of medicine, I left for Spain to write another book. I did not realize, at that time, that I was taking a great risk.51.The text is a talk given by the author when______.A.he was 18B.his first novel was publishedC.he graduated from the school of medicineD.he was at an advanced age正确答案:D52.The author graduated from the school of medicine when he was______.A.18B.28C.23D.30正确答案:C53.“And I could always pawn my microscope for three pounds”means the author could always ______.A.exchange his microscope for three poundsB.borrow his microscope and pays three poundsC.have his microscope repaired with three poundsD.lend his microscope for three pounds正确答案:A54.In the sentence “I could be able to live very well, pay my fees, buy my necessary instruments, clothe myself. . . “ , the word “clothe” means ______.A.wear clothesB.make clothes forC.wash clothes forD.buy clothes for正确答案:D55.The author wanted to be a writer because______.A.he liked to take risksB.he found it easier to make a living by writingC.he was interested in writingD.he could not study medicine well正确答案:CHow often one hears children wishing they were grown-up, and old people wishing they were young again. Each age has its pleasures and its pains, and the happiest person is the one who enjoys what each age gives him without wasting his time in useless regrets. Youth is a time when there are few tasks to make life difficult. If a child has good parents, he is fed, looked after and loved whatever he may do. It is impossible that he will ever again in his life be given so much without having to do anything in return. In addition, life is always presenting new things to the children—things that have lost their interest for older people because they are too well-known. But a child has his pains; he is not so free to do what he wishes to do; he is continually being told not to do things, or being punished for what he has done wrong. When the young man starts to earn his own living, he can no longer expect others to pay for his food, his clothes, and his room, but has to work if he wants to live comfortably. If he spends most of his time playing about in the way that he used to as a child, he will go hungry. And if he breaks the laws of society as he used to break the laws of his parents, he may go to prison. If, however, he works hard, keeps out of trouble and has good health, he can have the great happiness of building up for himself his own position in society.56.People can experience happiness if they______.A.always think of the past and regret itB.value the presentC.are no longer youngD.become old and have much experience正确答案:B57.When people were young, they used to______.A.be in charge of many businessesB.have few things to think about and take onC.look after their younger sisters and brothersD.face a lot of difficulties正确答案:B58.The pains of children lie in the fact that______.A.no one helps them make right decisionsB.they are often beaten by their paren.sC.they can not be accepted and praised by othersD.they are not allowed to do what they like to do正确答案:D59.Children are usually happy because______.A.old people lose interest in themB.they are free to do wrongC.they are familiar with everything going on around themD.things are new to them正确答案:D60.Which of the following is NOT needed for a young man to be happy?A.Hard workB.Being free from troubleC.WealthD.Health正确答案:CClozeIt was an early morning in summer. 河南专升本英语历年考试真题及答案

河南专升本英语历年考试真题及答案全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1Title: My Big Sis's English Exam Adventures!Hi there, friends! It's me, Little Tommy, and boy oh boy, do I have a story to tell you today! It's all about my big sister, Emily, and her journey through the Henan Academic Degree Entrance Exam for English. Buckle up, 'cause it's gonna be a wild ride! You see, Emily has been studying real hard for this exam. She's been burying her nose in those thick books, writing practice essays, and even talking to herself in English (which sometimes sounds pretty funny, if you ask me!). But she篇2English Tests Are Hard But Fun!Hi friends! My name is Xiaoming and I'm a student in 5th grade. I really like English class because I find learning a new language to be really exciting and challenging. My older cousin Dandan is currently studying at a junior college and she has totake a big English exam soon if she wants to upgrade to a university. She's been stressing out about it a lot lately!Dandan showed me some past exam questions that students have had to answer on this English test for upgrading to university. They look super hard! But I still think it's fun to take a look at them. My cousin promised me red bean buns if I can get some of the questions right, so I'm really going to try my best. Here's one of the reading comprehension passages from a few years ago:"The Wright brothers were the first to successfully design, build, and fly an aircraft. On December 17, 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright's aircraft traveled 120 feet in 12 seconds near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. This first powered, sustained, and controlled airplane flight is one of the most celebrated events in the history of technology."After reading that, there were multiple choice questions like:The Wright brothers' aircraft flew for how many seconds?A) 10 secondsB) 12 secondsC) 15 secondsD) 20 secondsHmm...That one seems pretty easy! The passage said it flew for 12 seconds, so the right answer must be B!Another question was:Which of the following is NOT mentioned in the passage?A) The Wright brothers designed an aircraftB) The aircraft was the first to be poweredC) The event occurred in North CarolinaD) The event was in 1905For this one, I need to read the passage carefully again. It says the flight was in 1903, not 1905. So the answer that is NOT mentioned is D!Some other reading comprehension passages were about topics like environmental protection, advancements in technology, and famous historical figures. The questions asked specific details about the key points from the passages. My personal favorite types of questions are the vocabulary ones! Like defining common words or choosing synonyms. For example:Prohibit most nearly means:A) AllowB) ForbidC) RequestD) RequireI'm pretty sure prohibit means forbid, so B is correct! Vocabulary is one of my strengths. Then there are some grammar questions that look like:The singer _____ very popular when she released her new album.A) becomeB) becameC) has becomeD) becomingHmm...This is testing verb tenses. The simple past "became" is probably the right answer here for B.My cousin also showed me some writing prompts where you have to write a short essay or response. Like "Describe your plansfor the future after graduating university" or "What discovery or invention has had the biggest impact on the world?"Those look really hard! I'm not sure I could write a good university-level essay yet. But I'll keep practicing my English writing skills.Overall, the English exams have reading, vocabulary, grammar, and writing sections. They really test your overall language abilities! No wonder Dandan is stressed - it's a lot of material to master. She also showed me some sample speaking prompts where you have to respond out loud in English, like:"What are the advantages and disadvantages of social media? Provide specific examples to support your perspective."Yikes! I'm not sure I could give a coherent response to that one yet. Speaking is probably the hardest part for me right now.My cousin has been studying old exams over and over, making flashcards, and working with a tutor. I really admire her hard work and perseverance! Mastering English at that level seems incredibly difficult. She told me the scoring is really strict too. You need anear-perfect score on reading, writing, and the other sections inorder to qualify for upgrading to a top university. No pressure or anything!Even though the exams look super challenging, I'm actually getting more excited about continuing my English studies. Imagining being fluent enough to discourse on complex topics like social media or write university-level essays is a great goal to work towards.I may still be an elementary student, but learning another language opens up so many opportunities. Who knows, maybe I'll be the one stressed out studying for that big English exam a few years from now! But I'll be ready. You've got to shoot for the moon, right? Maybe I'll even become an English teacher someday. Either way, I'm going to relish the journey of becoming bilingual and experiencing different cultures through language. That's what makes it all feel fun for me in the end, not just a test to stress over.Dandan's exam is next week, so wish her luck! Or as we say in English - break a leg! I'll be over here snacking on red bean buns and hitting the books hard too. See you next time, friends!篇3Henan Associate Degree English Exam: A Kid's GuideHi there, friends! Have you ever heard of the Henan University Entrance Exams for English Proficiency? Yeah, I know, it sounds like a mouthful, but it's basically a big test that students in Henan have to take if they want to go to university after high school. Now, you might be thinking, "But English is just a language, why do I need to take a special test for it?" Well, let me tell you,my friends, English is not just any language – it's like the secret code that unlocks the door to the whole wide world! With English, you can talk to people from different countries, read books and stories from all over the globe, and even watch your favorite cartoons and movies without needing subtitles! Pretty awesome, right? But enough about why English is so cool (we could talk about that all day!). Let's dive into the juicy details of these university entrance exams. Every year, the big brainiacs who make the tests come up with a bunch of questions to test how well students understand English. And you know what's even cooler? They release the past papers and answers so that students can practice and get ready for the real deal!Imagine having a secret stash of questions and answers that can help you ace the test! It's like having a cheat code for a video game, except it's totally allowed and encouraged. You can go through the past papers, see what kinds of questions they ask, and learn from the answers to make sure you're prepared for anything they throw at you.But wait, there's more! The past papers and answers aren't just for students – they're also a treasure trove of knowledge for anyone who wants to improve their English skills. Whether you'rea kid like me, a grown-up trying to learn a new language, or even a teacher looking for new ways to teach English, these resources are pure gold! So, let's say you're going through the past papers, and you come across a question that stumps you. No need to worry! You can check the answer and see where you went wrong. It's like having a personal tutor right at your fingertips, helping you understand the tricky bits and guiding you towards becoming an English master! And the best part? These past papers and answers cover all sorts of topics – reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, you name it! You should decide on the best choice, and write it in the brackets “【】”.Passage 1Procrastination(犹豫不决) is a disease of the mind. A scientific study in recent years has shown that it is a close relative of sadness and attention disorder; that procrastinators tend to be the result of low self-confidence and are likely toexperience anxiety. The research has shown, what is more, that the illness has become quite common. Susan Robert, a behavioral psychologist who has written a book called Living With Procrastination, says that about a quarter of the adult population of the United States and Canada report having serious problems with procrastination. “when we say ‘serious’we mean people for whom procrastination causes great discomfort and suffering. We’ve found that such people are more troubled by daily life than others, that possibility of anxiety is much higher among them than in the rest of the population.”In a society driven by achievement, it is little wonder that not being able to work at full steam will bring people sadness. Surely, in the land of opportunity, this anxiety has produced an industry of experts offering solutions. Many books and specialist solutions have appeared. In exchange for $19.95, Dr. Jerome Murray will send out an audio-cassette called “Protect your future from the thief of procrastination.”Dr. Murray promises that if you follow his step-by-step rules you will be empowered to “turn self-defeat into self-realization”. “Since the start of the 1990s, procrastination has been taken more and more seriously,”said Dr. Roberts, who has been treating patients troubled by the condition for more than 20 years. “It is now recognized as a true mental health problem and is being seen more as a psychological problem and less as a moral issue.”41.What is the main topic of this passage?A. Don’t hesitate to give up smoking.B. Don’t regard depression as not important.C. Turn defeat to self-realization.B. Turn depression into enthusiasm.C. Procrastination has been taken more and more seriously.D. Turn self-defeat into self-realization.Passage 2Parrots are becoming one of the most popular pets in America and for good reason. The parrot is an extraordinary bird that can be taught to talk, can be easily cared for, and can create a lively atmosphere anywhere. With the help of an energetic parrot owner, a parrot can develop an enormous vocabulary. In addition, a parrot can be trained to say “Pretty boy”or “Polly wants a cracker,”and it also can learn to whistle or sing. Still another advantage of owning a parrot is its inexpensive food, including seeds, nuts, corn, and grain-along with an apple, banana, or carrot. Perhaps the most likely reason the parrot is becoming such a well-liked pet is that it is a combination of tameness and wildness. Because the parrotcan live in almost any environment, it makes a fine, tame companion for many people. In addition, because it can be easily trained, it is a delightful performer. At the same time, its colorful feathers give it an air of the mystery of the parrot’s native home, the jungle. I was able to live very well, pay my fees, buy my necessary instruments, clothe myself, and have a lot of fun on fourteen pounds a month. And I could always pawn my microscope for three pounds.I spent five years at St. Thomas’ hospital. I was a bad student, for my heart, as you might have guessed, was not in it. I wanted, I had always wanted to be a writer, and in the evenings, after my dinner, I wrote and read. Before long, I wrote a novel called “Liza of Lambeth”, which I sent to a publisher and was accepted. It came out during my last year at the hospital and it was successful. It was of course an accident, but I didn’t know that. I felt I could afford to give up medicine and make writing my profession; so, three days after I graduated from the school of medicine, I left for Spain to write another book, I did not realize, at that time, that I was taking a great risk.51. Each age has its pleasures and its pains, and the happiest person is the one who enjoys what each age gives him without wasting his time in useless regrets.Youth is a time when there are few tasks to make life difficult. If a child has good parents, he is fed, looked after and loved whatever he may do. It is impossible that he will ever again in his life be given so much without having to do anything in return. In addtion, life is always presenting new things to the child---things that have lost their interest for older people because they are too well-known. But a child has his pains: he is not so free to do what he wishes to do; he is continually being told not to do things, or being punished for what he has done wrong. When the young man starts to earn his own living, he can no longer expect others to pay for his food, his clothes, and his room, but has to work if he wants to live comfortably. If he spends most of his time playing about in the way that he used to as a child, he will go hungry. And if he breaks the laws of society as he used to break the laws of his parens, he may go hungry. And if he breaks the laws of societyas he used to break the laws of his parents, he may go to prison. If, however, he works hard, keeps out of trouble and has good health, he can have the great happiness of building up for himself his own position in society.56.People can experience happiness if they___.A. always thinks of the past and regret itB. value the presentC. are no longer youngD. become old and have much experience57.When people were young, they used to___.A. be in charge of many businessesB. have few things to think about and take onC. look after their younger sisters and brothersD. face a lot of difficulties58.The pains of children lie in the fact that___.A. no one helps them make right decisionB. they are often beaten by their parentsC. they can not be accepted and praised by othersD. they are not allowed to do what they like to do59.Children are usually happy because___.A. old people lose interest in themB. they are free to do wrongC. they are familiar with everything going on around themD. things are new to them60.Which of the following is NOT needed for a young man to be happy?A.
