But every time I made a move to get it some passing eye detected my purpose, and of course I straightened up then, and looked indifferent, and pretended that I hadn't been thinking about the pear at all. This same thing kept happening and happening, and I couldn't get the pear. I was just getting desperate enough to brave all the shame, and to seize it, when a window behind me was raised, and a gentleman spoke out of it, saying:"Step in here, please."I was admitted by a gorgeous flunkey, and shown into a sumptuous room where a couple of elderly gentlemen were sitting. They sent away the servant, and made me sit down. They had just finished their breakfast, and the sight of the remains of it almost overpowered me. I could hardly keep my wits together in the presence of that food, but as I was not asked to sample it, I had to bear my trouble as best I could.Now, something had been happening there a little before, which I did not know anything about until a good many days afterwards, but I will tell you about it now. Those two old brothers had been having a pretty hot argument a couple of days before, and had ended by agreeing to decide it by a bet, which is the English way of settling everything.You will remember that the Bank of England once issued two notes of a million pounds each, to be used for a special purpose connected with some public transaction with a foreign country. For some reason or other only one of these had been used and canceled; the other still lay in the vaults of the Bank. Then he dictated a letter, which one of his clerks wrote out in a beautiful round hand, and then the two brothers sat at the window a whole day watching for the right man to give it to.I would have picked up the pear now and eaten it before all the world, but it was gone; so I had lost that by this unlucky business, and the thought of it did not soften my feeling towards those men. As soon as I was out of sight of that house I opened my envelope, and saw that it contained money! My opinion of those people changed, I can tell you! I lost not a moment, but shoved note and money into my vest pocket, and broke for the nearest cheap eating house. Well, how I did eat! 教师应深挖教材内容，找到德育渗透的契合点，设计出多样化的教学活动，从而对学生达到润物细无声的德育教育目标关键词：英语教学德育渗透活动设计一、引言德育是素质教育的核心，是学校教育的重要组成部分。
高中阶段是学生人生观、价值观形成的关键时期，德育教育更是不容忽视。
德育不是某一个学科的任务，它应该渗透到各学科的日常教学当中。
《普通高中英语课程标准》提出，英语教学不仅仅是使学生掌握语言知识和语言技能，更要关注学生的情感，发展与人沟通与合作的能力，树立正确的人生观、世界观和价值观，增强社会责任感，提高学生的人文素养。
人教版普通高中课程标准（英语）实验教科书中涉及了广泛的话题，如人际关系、自然灾害、文化遗产、环境保护、名人传记等。
这些具有时代性、思想性、知识性的题材为高中英语教学中的德育渗透提供了便利。
教师应深入钻研教材，挖掘教材中的德育因素，并结合实际，设计出多样化的教学活动，实现英语学习与德育教育的有机结合。
二、活动设计1.海报制作（making posters）。
现笔者以人教版高中英语必修3 Unit4为例，来说明这一活动的设计过程。
该单元的第一篇课文《How Life Began On The Earth》简述了地球上各种生命的先后出现过程。
课文最后一段中提到人类出现以后成为了地球上最重要的物种，但人类却不好好爱护地球，往空气中投入太多的二氧化碳,使得地球可能变得太热而不适宜居住。
按照正常的教学进度，学生进入这一单元的学习时间应为四月初或四月中旬，而恰好4月22日为世界地球日。

必修三Unit3 THE MILLION POUND BANK NOTE百万英镑:Act I, Scene 4第一幕，第4场(Outside a restaurant Henry looks at the envelope without opening it and decides to go in. He sits down at a table next to the front window.)（在餐馆外边，亨利看了看信封，没有打开，然后决定走进餐馆。

HENRY: （坐定之后，把信放在桌上，右转头看钟，1点，左转头发现旁边有一个人在看他，服务员来了，拿着递过来的菜单说）I'd like some ham and eggs and a nice big steak. Make it extra thick.亨利：我要火腿加鸡蛋，还来一块大牛排，要特厚的。
WAITER: I'm afraid it'll cost a large amount of money.服务员：恐怕这得花费一大笔钱。
HENRY: I understand. And I'll have a large cool glass of beer.亨利：我明白。
我还要一大杯啤酒。
WAITER: OK. (The waiter leaves and soon returns with all the food.)服务员：行。
（服务员离开了，很快把所有的食物端了上来）HOSTESS: My goodness! Look at him.He eats like a wolf.女老板：天哪！你看他，吃起东西来就像头狼。
OWNER: Well,we'll see if he's clever as a wolf.店主：瞧着吧，看他是不是像狼一样机灵HENRY:（刚吃完了所有的东西，右转头看钟，1点30）Ah, waiter. (waiter returns)Same thing again, please.亨利：喂，服务员。
（服务员过来了）同样的东西请再来一份。
WAITER: Again? Everything?服务员：每样东西都再来一份吗？HENRY: Yes, that's right. And so letter.(看着服务员的脸色)Anything wrong?亨利：是，没错。
别忘了啤酒。
有什么不对吗？WAITER: No,no,sir. (跑到老板老板娘那小声说) He's order another portion same at all !服务员：不，没什么不对。
他再要一份同样的食物。
OWNER: Do you think he can pay?老板：你认为她付得起钱吗?HOSTESS: Well,we would trust it.女老板：哦，我们得冒点儿风险。
OWNER: Serve him.But don’t throw back gristle,understand?老板：给他上一份,但是不要去软骨,知道吗?WAITER:（饭后,时钟1点55,服务员过来念账单）That's two orders of ham and eggs, two extra thick steaks, two large glasses of beer, two cups of coffee and two desserts.Three in ten.服务员：两份火腿加鸡蛋，两份特厚的牛排，两大杯啤酒，两杯咖啡和两份甜点。

HENRY: Thank you.（右转头看了一眼墙上的挂钟,1点57）Would you mind waiting just a few minutes?亨利：谢谢,等几分钟好吗？WAITER:（很不耐烦地）What's there to wait for?服务员：还等什么？OWNER: All right, Horlas. I'll take care of this.店主：霍勒斯，行啦，我来吧。
HENRY:（对店主说）That was a wonderful meal. It's amazing how much pleasure you get out of tile simple things in life, especially if you can't have them for awhile.亨利：这餐饭吃得真棒。

OWNER:（还在发呆，而且有点儿紧张,僵硬的接过钞票）Well .. er ...er... just one moment. (快步跑到女老板那,把钞票递给她看)Maggie, look!（女老板尖叫了一声，其他顾客都望着她，于是，她用手捂住了嘴巴）Do you think it's real? 店主：好……嗯……，等一会儿。
