This essay discusses why college education is necessary from the perspective of personal growth and national development.College is the preparation to transit from pupilage to working status. College education helps students to enhance the social networks and skills which are instrumental for future career. It is obvious that college education can further improve our knowledge. Another important thing is that you can build up interpersonal connections in college among students, faculty and staff members. University gathers students with all kinds of cultural backgrounds and life experiences. Young people interact and learn from each other. By joining student’s organization, participating activities, classes, and social gatherings, we will get friendship. These close networks are not only useful at that time. When we go out into the world; when we meet withsome difficulties, they will give a helping hand. On the other hand, your future work may not be related to your major, so it is useful to make friends not just in class or with the same major. Some networks even create more opportunities on the future job. In addition, compared with the education in high school, college education is more professionalized and it is related to your future work. Professional education makes a key role in today’s society with high specialized division of labor. A person with high level of academic proficiency without correct values is more dangerous in society.
