In a fast-paced age full of intense competition, parents have become used to giving children pocket money for supporting daily life, and whether the children are considerable enough to make correct use of these money or not has been an heated social issue. Some people think money spending can build up some positive personalities like self-reliance and economic mindfulness. Others, however, hold an opposed view that money abuse might be very risky. In my opinon, I am in favor of the former, and I will explore possible reasons as below.Firstly, Pocket money provides more opportunties for children to be engaged in real-world socilaztion. For example, when paying for bus fares, food, stationery and books, students would consciously observe, compare and learn basic social products and services, as well as talk and listen to bus drivers, shop clerks and other customers. These experience by spending money helps to foster independence of students, from self-care conciousness to decision-making ability to interpersonal skills. Moreover, using small money process imparts students to managemoney, learning making budgeting, calculating and significative investing——in short, obtaining financial knowledge in advance. It will also give children a certain freedom to select what they want, make them aware of the rules about the equivalent exchange. Without pocket money for students, they may ignore banking knowledge, have no sensitivity of economy and might fall into unbalanced budget planning, deficit and even credit crisis. However, the potential demerits caused by money misusing should never be ignored. For one thing, there is always a big concern that by money, children with lack of self-control or maturemind can have an easy access to fastfood, soft drinks and candy, all of which containing high-level fat, calories and sugar. The comsuption of these junk traps children into chronic physical problems like obesity, high-blood presssure and heart disease. Besides, the most worrying aspect is that children are very likely to misspend money on movies, concerts of pop music, and Video games like Nintendo or Playstation, these entertainment will distract students from the aim of studying. In conclusion, I believe it is reasonable to give limited amount of money to children, because it can teach them social skills and finance-planning mind. However, much pocekt money beyond daily basic costs is problematic, for it might result in health problems and an amusement-oriented mind.(389 words)雅思大作文类话题范文:零用钱利弊。

Title: The Role of Social Media in Modern SocietySocial media has become an integral part of our daily lives, with millions of people logging on each day to keep up with their friends, the news, and their favorite brands. In this essay, I will explore the impact that social media has had on modern society, and what role it plays in our lives today. One of the most significant benefits of social media is the ability to connect people from all over the world. This interconnectedness has facilitated the growth of online communities, allowing individuals to share ideas and information on a global scale. Social media has also given us the ability to network professionally, allowing us to connect to potential employers, mentors, and business partners. However, social media has also had some detrimental effects on society. One of the most concerning is the rise of cyberbullying. Social media has made it easier than ever for anonymous individuals to harass and threaten others online. This type of abuse is particularly damaging because it can quickly spread to a large audience and can be difficult to remove or control once it has been posted.Another issue that social media has caused is the spread of misinformation. As anyone can post anything online, false information can quickly spread and become accepted as fact, leading to confusion and even harm. It’s important that individualsdon’t just accept everything they see online, and instead take the time to verify information from reputable sources.Despite these risks, the benefits of social media in modern society far outweigh the negatives. It has revolutionized the way we communicate, and has allowed us to connect with people in ways that were once impossible. Social media has also allowed us to keep up with the latest news, participate in online discussions, and even mobilize for political action. In conclusion, social media is a powerful tool that has had a significant impact on our lives. While it can be misused, it has the potential to bring people together and foster positive change in the world. To make the most of social media, it’s important that we use it responsibly and critically evaluate the information we encounter online. Title: The Benefits of TravelingTraveling is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and it offers a wide range of benefits for individuals and society as a whole. It allows us to experience different languages, customs, and traditions, and gain a newfoundappreciation for diversity. By experiencing new cultures, we can broaden our horizons and develop a more sophisticated understanding of the world around us.Secondly, traveling can be a great way to improve our mental health. Traveling can help us to relax, reduce anxiety, and improve our mood. It also allows us to disconnect from technology and other distractions and focus on being present in the moment.Thirdly, traveling can be an excellent way to make new friends and connect with others around the world. When we travel, we are often exposed to people from different walks of life who we would not have met otherwise. Trade and travel would be a lot easier with a single, global currency that we all use.Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Would a single currency cause any problems? It is clear to me that the idea of a single global currency is an excellent ideal to work towards. There can be no doubt that trade and travel would be vastly easier. On the other hand I believe that it would cause problems today. The benefits of a single currency can be seen with the use in Europe of the Euro. Whenever you are travelling between countries using the Euro, the problems of currency changing and exchange rates are history. Similarly business between countries using the Euros is so much easier; no more worrying about exchange rate risk and pricing. Everyon e‛s money is the same. The same thing is true with the US dollar. Most countries do not use the US dollar but it is accepted in many places. There are many countries that you can travel to and just take US dollars to use.At present though a global currency would be impossible. Firstly most countries would not accept the idea. Secondly all countries are in different economic states. Some are economically very strong and some are in a state of collapse with inflation ruining the economy. Such countries could not be brought into a world currency as it would cause massive financial instability worldwide. So it is clear that a global currency would indeed cause some serious problems. So, in conclusion I see a global currency as a future ideal but it will not happen in my lifetime. It would make trade and travel much easier but the problems it would cause nowadays would be insurmountable.

8 1-1The pie chart below shows the main reasons why agricultural and land becomes less productive. Th table shows how these causes affected thress regions of the world during the 1990s.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. The pie chart shows that there are four main causes of farmland becoming degraded in the world today. Globally 65% of degradation is caused by too much animal grazing and tree clearance, constituting 35% and 30% respectively. A further 28% of global degradation is due to over-cultivation ofcrops. Other causes account for only 7% collectively. These causes affected different regions differently in the 1990s, with Europe having as much as 9.8% of degradation due to deforestation, while the impact of this on Oceania and North America was minimal, with only 1.7% and 2% of land affected respectively. Europe with the highest overall percentage of land degraded(23%),also suffered from over-cultivation(7.7%) and over-grazing(5.5%). In contrast, Oceania had 13% of degraded farmland and this was mainly due to over-grazing(11.3%). North America had a lower proportion of degraded land at only 5%, and the main causes of this were over-cultivation(3.3%) and , to lesser extent,over-grazing(1.5%).Overall, it is clear that Europe suffered more from farmland degradation than the other regions, and the main causes there were deforestation and over-cultivation.剑8 1-2Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Other, however, believe that school is the place to learn this.Discuss both these views and given your own opinion.A child’s education has never been about learning information and basic skills only. It has always included teaching the next generation how to be good members of society. Therefore , this cannot be the responsibility of the parents alone. In order to be a good member of any society the individual must respect and obey the rules of their community and share their values. Educating children tounderstand the need to be obey rules and respects others always begins in the home and is widely though to be the responsibility of parents. They will certainly be the first to help children learn what is important in life, how, they are expected to behave and what role they will play in their world. However learning to understand and share the value system of a whole society cannot be achieved just in the home. Once a child goes to school, they are entering a wider community where teachers and peers will have just as much influence as their parents do at home. At school, children will experience working and living with people from a whole variety of background from the wider society. This experience should teach them how to co-operate with each other and how to contribute to the life of their community. But to be a valuable member of any community is not like learning a simple skill. It is something that an individual goes on learning throughout life and it is the responsibility of every member of a society to take responsibility for helping the younger generation to become active and able members of that society.剑8 2-1The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by a particular UK school in 1981,1991 and 2001.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. The charts show how much a UK school spent on different running costs in three separate years 1981,1991 and 2001.In all three years, the greatest expenditure was on staff salaries. But while other workers salaries saw a fail from 28% in 1981 to only 15% of spending in 2001,teachers pay remained the biggest cost reaching 50% of total spendingin 1991 and ending at 45% in 2001.Expenditure on resources such as books had increased to 20% by 1991 before decreasing to only 9% by the end of the period. In contrast, the cost of furniture and equipment saw an opposite trend. This cost decreased to only 5% of total expenditure in 1991 but rose dramatically in 2001 when it represented 23% of the school budget. Similarly, the cost of insurance saw a rising trend, growing from only 2% to 8% by 2001.Overall, teachers’ salaries constituted the largest cost to the school, and while spending increased dramatically for equipment and insurance, there were corresponding drops in expenditure on things such as books on other wokers’salaries.剑8 3-2Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective? There is no doubt that traffic and pollution from vehicles have become huge problems, both in cities and on motorways everywhere. Solving these problems is likely to need more than a simple rise in the price of petrol. While it is undeniable that private car use is one of the main causes of the increase in traffic and pollution.higher fuel costs are unlikely to limit the number of drivers for long. As this policy would also affect the cost of public transport, it would be very unpopular with everyone who needs to travel on the roads. But there are various other measures that could be implemented thatwould have a huge effect on these problems.I think to tackle the problem of pollution, cleaner fuels need to be developed. The technology is already available to produce electric cars that would be both quieter and cleaner to use. Persuading manufacturers and travellers to adopt this new technology would be a more effective strategy for improving are quality, especially in cities. However, traffic congestion will not be solved by changing the type of private vehicle people can use. To do this, we need to improve the choice of public transport services available to travellers. For example, if sufficient sky trains and underground train systems were built and effectively maintained in our major cities, then traffic on the roads would be dramatically reduced. Long-distance train and coach services should be made attractive and affordable alternatives to driving your own car for long journeys. In conclusion, i think that long-term traffic and pollution reductions would depend on educating the public to use public transport more, and on governments using public money to construct and run efficient systems.。

IELTS Writing Sample: August 6th, 2022 Many argue that it is theresponsibility of the government to subsidize theatres, museums, and sports stadiums, even though these facilities may not be profitable. Others believe that government funds should be directed towards essential services like healthcare and education. This essay will explore both perspectives before presenting my own viewpoint. Proponents of government funding for cultural and sportinginstitutions argue that these venues provide a vital service to the community. Theatres showcase artistic talent and offer entertainment, while museums act as repositories of history and knowledge, fostering a sense of cultural identity. Sports stadiums bring people together, promoting physical activity and team spirit. By subsidizing these facilities, the government can ensure their accessibility toall citizens, regardless of income. Moreover, these institutions can act ascatalysts for economic growth, attracting tourism and creating jobs in the hospitality and leisure sectors. However, opponents of this viewpoint contendthat government resources are finite and should be prioritized for essential services. Healthcare is crucial for a healthy population, while education equips individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in life. Investing in these areas yields tangible benefits for the entire society. They argue thatcultural and sporting institutions, while beneficial, are not essential forsurvival or societal progress. Furthermore, many believe that these institutions should be self-sustaining, relying on private funding, ticket sales, and donations to operate. This would foster a sense of responsibility and encourage innovationand efficiency. It is important to acknowledge that both arguments have merit. Cultural and sporting venues do enrich society, while healthcare and education are fundamental to human development. However, I believe that the government should prioritize essential services like healthcare and education. While I recognize the value of the arts and sports, I contend that a healthy and educated population is the foundation of a thriving society. A government's primary responsibility is to ensure the well-being of its citizens, and this is best achieved by investing in services that directly impact their health and education. That being said, Idon't believe government support for cultural and sporting institutions should beentirely abandoned. A balanced approach can be achieved by implementing targeted funding strategies. For instance, the government could offer grants to struggling theatres or museums that demonstrate strong community engagement and educational value. Similarly, support could be directed towards youth sports programs that promote physical activity and inclusivity. This approach would allow the government to contribute to the cultural and sporting landscape without compromising its commitment to essential services. Furthermore, encouraging private sector involvement in these areas is crucial. Public-private partnerships can be fostered, where businesses sponsor cultural events or invest in stadium upgrades. This would alleviate the financial burden on the government while simultaneously promoting corporate social responsibility. Additionally, community fundraising initiatives can be encouraged, allowing individuals to contribute to institutions they value. Ultimately, the allocation of government funds should reflect a society's priorities. While cultural and sporting institutions undeniably contribute to a vibrant and well-rounded society, healthcare and education remain fundamental pillars upon which a nation's progress rests. By prioritizing these essential services while implementing strategic funding for cultural and sporting initiatives, the government can ensure the well-being of its citizens while simultaneously fostering a rich and diverse cultural landscape.。

The diagrams below show the stages and equipment used in the cement-making process, and how cement is used to produce concrete for building purposes.范文:The diagram on the left illustrates the process by which cement is made whilst the diagram on the right shows us how concrete is made.We can clearly see that the first stage in cement production is to put two substances –limestone and clay – through a crusher to create a powder. This powder then goes through a mixer and is then heated in a rotating heater. Once the powder has gone through the mixer and heater, it is ground and the cement is packed into bags. The diagram on the right hand side tells us that concrete is a mixture of four ingredients in differing proportions. Cement makes up 15% of the mixture, water constitutes 10%, sand 25%, and gravel (i.e. small stones) 50%. These ingredients are mixed in a rotating concrete mixer to make concrete. In summary, the production of cement and the production of concrete appear to be fairly simple processes大作文题目:Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problem. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective? I disagree with the idea that increasing petrol prices is the best way to deal with traffic and pollution.First of all, if petrol prices are increased, this will most likely lead to less petrol being used. This will make environmentalists happy, but it will also increase the cost of anything that uses petrol in its production or in transport – in other words, everything from plastic bags to computers. This is likely to lead to slower economic growth as less is bought and produced. Of course, there will be less traffic and there will be less pollution, but I do not think that the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages.I think that traffic problems can be dealt with by making drivers pay more to use certain roads at certain times. This has been very effective in London, where there is a charge for cars to use roads in the centre of London during working hours. As a result, traffic and pollution have decreased without harming the local economy.Pollution could also be reduced by encouraging people to use energy more efficiently. The government could use and advertise campaign to show people that wasting energy by, for example, leaving electrical items on when they are not being used results in more pollution from electricity generation. In a similar way, the government could inform people about the financial benefits of insulating their homes. To conclude, I believe that a rise in petrol prices would reduce pollution, but cause economic problems. Therefore, I think there are better alternative solutions available. In this essay, I shall say why I believe that increasing petrol prices is the best way to reduce traffic and pollution problems and suggest other measures that might be effective. If the price of petrol is increased, it is likely that people will try to use less of it. This should see a reduction in car use and therefore less pollution. Some people claim that this will have negative effects on the economy, but I disagree. People will almost certainly use less petrol in cases where using it is not very economic. For example, most drivers use their vehicles for short journeys which they could easily make on foot. It is these journeys that they are likely to stop making by car, not essential ones for their private lives or for work.Another way of reducing traffic problems is to only allow certain cars to use the roads on given days. This method was used effectively in Beijing during the Olympic Games, reducing both traffic problems and pollution without any significant negative effects on the local economy. However, for a scheme like this to be successful, there needs to be a good public transport system.Pollution can also be reduced by using other forms of energy generation. If we use these, we can make our economy better in the long term by investing in the technologies of the future. We will also improve the health of the population through having less pollution. To summarise, I think that increasing petrol prices is the best way of reducing traffic and pollution problems and that there are other good ways of achieving this.。

Other factors caused 7% of land degradation. The table shows that, during the 1990s, 23% of the land in Europe was degraded, more than in Oceania (13%) and far more than in North America (5%). In Oceania, over-grazing was primarily responsible for land degradation, with deforestation accounting for far less and none caused through over-cultivation. In North America, over-cultivation was the main reason, with about a third of land degradation being caused by over-grazingand very little being caused by deforestation. 1. The best way for a country to prepare the future is to invest more resources on its young people. What is the best way to spend resources? To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?…Education is the cheapest national defence‟, Aristotle said. 21st century, talent has gained its popularity, which becomes core competence of a nation. It‟s the wisest option among many alternatives to subsidize child in education. If the youth were empowered to study abroad for free in any periods of education, they would pay high intention, more sincerity, efforts and execution on learning and research. It is enormous desire for all levels of students to behave better unlike ranking the top in the past, which could contribute to build more positive environment in school. What is more, with more funds of facilities and higher standard of education, children‟s qualities in arts, humanities, the science and engineering areas could be improved unconsciously, which could wide their horizon and create open-minded thought-provoking thought.Subsequently, the increasing cultivated talents participate inthe procedure of building society. In return, they give sophisticated education to the next generation, create remarkable art works to release or wake up people, construct grand engineering to contribute to the speed of industrial development and study out advanced technology to make a better life for public such as anti-AIDS drug, spacecraft and deep diving ship.Although compared with another investment, this process seems to spend more time in receiving returns, but it still worth doing, because in the long run, investing in education is the most efficient way to solidify country‟s defences and the most fundamental strategy to enhance international competitiveness.
When it comes to the issue about which approach should be recommended to people who are interested in other countries, some people may argue that traveling may be an optimal choice, but others believethat TV and the internet could be a substitution of traveling. On one hand, there is a necessity of traveling to othercountries because visitors could touch other cultures to a deeper degree. When a visitor comes to a country, s/he may make acquaintance with local residents and enjoy local food. For example, a visitor could reallyenjoy Sangria, a famous wine mixed with fruits, in Spain, but not just stare at a picture of Sangria on books and imagine its taste. Then, such experience enables a visitor to really know what a country is with more details. On the other hand, TV and the Internet provide the public withan alternative way to learn a country. It is common that there exist alot of forums on the Internet where a lot of visitors may share their unique experience of trips generously. Then, users could conveniently search for any information they need concerning about any specific country on such forums. Similarly, TV programs could provide viewerswith information collected by editors that could also prove to be true and trustful under most conditions. From my own perspective, these two approaches do not necessarily contradict each other, but just fit various groups of people. Forvisitors who have sufficient time, energy, and budgets, having a tour tosome countries may be recommended to them since they could have a better understanding of alien cultures. However, for people who are occupied with their heavy work or have financial burden, traveling may not be accessible for them and thereby watching TV programs and scanning the Internet may be a better option for them.2016年8月13日雅思考试真题大作文范文Task:In many countries, people can eat a wide variety of food today. As a result, they eat food from other regions than local food.Doyou think the advantages of the development outweigh disadvantages?

The advanced transportation and more diverse food preference render it possible and necessary that people can choose food which is not cultivated locally. As popular to some extent it might be, I do not suppose that it is a wise choice to follow this trend without second thought. The food, cultivated and sent from other places, can offer more choices for the ordinary customers indeed. This is because their options for food do not only confine to their home-produced vegetables, fruits and meat, and they are likely to be bombarded with a wider range of food. This can subsequently intensify the competition between the food suppliers, and the customers can enjoy are latively lower price. However, compared with the benefits this practice can provide, leading a life that depends on food from other areas cannot be sustainable and turning to local food is thus environment-friendly. The local food means that the distancefrom farm to table is shorter and renders the transportation convenient. Without long distance transportation of food, the emission of exhaust will be cut down and less greenhouse gases will be discharged into the environment. In the meantime, delivering food from one place to another will consume a host of fuels because lorries or vans are driven by energies, it is really not so insightful to put such a heavy burden on the transportation only for the enjoyment of more food.In conclusion, the local food is sufficient to sustain the locals to have a balanced diet and healthy life, more transported food can do little else and even bring about some environmental problems.(264 words)【2016年8月雅思大作文考试真题及范文】。
雅思剑8作文task2In recent years, there has been a growing trend of people living alone. This phenomenon has sparked a heated debate among individuals, with some arguing that living alone is a positive development, while others believe it has negative implications. From my perspective, living alone can have both advantages and disadvantages, and it ultimately depends on an individual's personal preferences and circumstances. On the one hand, living alone provides individuals with a sense of independence and freedom. When living alone, one has the freedom to make decisions without having to consider the preferences or needs of others. This can be particularly liberating for individuals who value their personal space and enjoy solitude. Moreover, living alone allows individuals to establish their own routines and take full control of their lives. They can come and go as they please, without having to compromise with roommates or family members. This independence can foster personalgrowth and self-discovery, as individuals have the opportunity to explore their own interests and developtheir own identities. On the other hand, living alone can also have negative implications, particularly in terms of social isolation and loneliness. Humans are social creatures, and we thrive on social interactions and connections with others. Living alone can sometimes lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation, especially for individuals who lack a strong support network or have difficulty establishing new relationships. Furthermore, living alone can also posesafety concerns, as there is no one to rely on in case of emergencies or accidents. This can be particularly worrisome for older individuals or those with health issues, who may require assistance and support on a regular basis. In addition, living alone can have financial implications. Sharing living expenses with others can significantly reduce the financial burden, making it more affordable for individuals to live in expensive urban areas. On the other hand, living alone means shouldering all theexpenses on one's own, which can be challenging for individuals with limited financial resources. This can lead to financial strain and may limit one's ability to enjoy a certain quality of life. Moreover, living alone also means taking on all the household chores and responsibilities, which can be time-consuming and exhausting.Despite the potential drawbacks, living alone can also provide individuals with a sense of empowerment and personal growth. It forces individuals to become self-reliant and develop important life skills, such as budgeting, cooking, and managing household tasks. Moreover, living alone can also provide individuals with a sense of privacy and peace, allowing them to recharge and rejuvenate after a long day. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals who have demanding jobs or busy lifestyles. In conclusion, living alone has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. While it can provide individuals with a sense of independence and freedom, it can also lead to social isolation and financial challenges. Whether living alone is a positive or negative developmentultimately depends on an individual's personal preferences and circumstances. It is important to carefully consider the pros and cons before making a decision about living alone.。

Some students take one year off between finishing school and going to university in order to travel or to work. Do you think advantages outweigh disadvantages?
It is quite common these days for young people in many countries to have a break from studying after graduating from high school. The trend is not restricted to rich students who have the money to travel, but is also evident among poorer students who choose to work and become economically independent for a period of time. The reasons for this trend may involve the recognition that a young adult who passes directly from school to university is rather restricted in terms of general knowledge and experience of the world. By contrast, those who have spent some time earning a living or travelling to other places, have a broader view of life and better personal resources to draw on. They tend to be more independent, which is a very important factor in academic study and research, as well as giving them an advantage in terms of coping with the challenges of student life. However, there are certainly dangers in taking time off at that important age. Young adults may end up never returning to their studies or finding it difficult to readapt to an academic environment. They may think that it is better to continue in a particular job or to do something completely different from a university course. But overall I think this is less likely today, when academic qualifications are essential for getting a reasonable career. My view is that young people should be encouraged to broaden their horizons. That is the best way for them to get a clear perspective of what they are hoping to do with their lives and why. Students with such a perspective are usually the most effective and motivated ones and taking a year off may be the best way to gain this. 01It is quite common these days for young people in many countries to have a break from studying after graduating from high school. The trend is not restricted to rich students who have the money to travel, but is also evident among poorer students who choose to work and become economically independent for a period of time.
(1)...to have a break from studying 中断学习(2)...be restricted to... 02The reasons for this trend may involve the recognition that a young adult who passes directly from school to university is rather restricted in terms of general knowledge and experience of the world. By contrast, those who have spent some time earning a living or travelling to other places, have a broader view of life and better personal resources to draw on. They tend to be more independent, which is a very important factor in academic study and research, as well as giving them an advantage in terms of coping with the challenges of student life.
