Recently the problem of soaring teenager smoking has been in the lime light. Some of our teenagers, who are supposed to flourish like sunflowers, are ruining their health little by little. As a matter of fact, the problem results from three main reasons.
In the first place, it is curiosity that drive some teenagers light their first cigarettes up. As is known to us all, teenagers have an instinct to explore and experience new things. Though they are warned a thousand times not to smoke, they still are inclined to find out the truth by themselves. As a consequence, finding cigarettes necessities of life, they become addicted to smoking.
Apart from that, the wrong notion that smoking makes one look cool and distinctive can account for the problem. In some teenagers’opinion, a costly cigarette is a token of wealth and status. What’s more, they hold the view that smoking, which in a sense equals lonely and contemplation, is an effective way to stand out from their peers. Thus, we can always see some punks show off their distinction by exhaling clouds of smoke.
Finally, heavy study pressure also contributes to the soaring number of teenager smoking. Shouldering great expectation from parents and society,
some teenagers unfortunately resort to smoking in the hope of easing their mental tension. In this way, they are on their way to heavy smokers.
