The cashier who assisted me was George. George was very friendly and told me that the Perfect Muffin Kit would live up to the guarantee on the box: “Perfect Muffins Every Time!”. Unfortunately, this product did not live up to what it promised . The muffins I made were far from perfect . I followed the directions in the package very carefully . First , I removed the bag of mix from the box. Then , I poured it into a bowl. Next, I added the correct amount of water to the mix and stirred it. According to the directions, after stirring the mixture , I added half a cup of dried prapes, nuts , berries, or another favorite ingredient(配料 ) . My favorite ingredient happens to be hot sauce (沙司 ). I find that a bit of hot sauce makes pizza and soup taste very delicious. So, continuing to follow the directions, I added half a cup of hot sauce to the mix and stirred it. Finally, I poured the mix into muffin tins and baked it in the baker at 350 degrees for exactly 20 minutes. When the muffins finished baking, I was very excited to eat the “Perfect Muffins” as promised on the box. You can imagine my disappointment when, upon tasting the muffins, I discovered that they were not perfect. These muffins were , in fact , absolutely terrible. Not even my dog was interested in eating these supposedly “perfect” muffins.I would appreciate a full refund(退款 ) of $3.99 for this product as soon as possible. Enclosed are the receipt, the empty box, and one of the un-perfect muffins so that you can experience it for yourself . Thank you for your attention to this matter.Sincerely ,Michelle Bauer56. The author’s main purpose in writing this letter is to ________.A. prevent others from making the same mistakeB. persuade the company to change the wording on their boxC. get back all the money paid from the shopD. complain about how bad the muffins tastedBWhy do people drink too much, eat too much, smoke cigarettes or take drugs? What’s to blame for all the bad behavior? Most people would say that, while these self-destructive (自我毁灭的) acts can have many root causes, they all have one obvious thing in common: they are all examples of failures of self-control, lacking the will power to resist them.According to a recent study, however, if you really think about it, something about that simple answer doesn’t quite make sense. In fact, it turns out that sometimes it’s having will power that really gets you into trouble.Think back to the time you took your very first sip (啜饮) of beer. Disgusting, wasn’t it? When my father gave me my first taste of beer as a teenager, I wondered why anyone would voluntarily drink it. And smoking? No one enjoys their first cigarette — it tastes awful. So even though smoking, and drinking alcohol or coffee, can become temptation (诱惑) you need will power to resist, they never, ever start out that way.Just getting past those first horrible experiences actually requires a lot of self-control. Ironically (讽刺的是), only those who can control themselves well, rather than give in to them, can ever come to somed ay develop a “taste” for Budweiser beer, Marlboro cigarettes, ordark-roasted Starbucks coffee. We do it for social acceptance. We force ourselves to consume alcohol, cigarettes, coffee and even illegal drugs, in order to seem experienced, grown-up, and cool. These bad habits aren’t self-control failures — far from it. They are voluntary choices, and they are in fact self-control successes. Self-control is simply a tool to be put to some use, helpful or harmful. To live happy and productive lives, we need to develop not only our self-control, but also the wisdom to make good decisions about when and where to apply it.60. What do most people think causes bad behavior?A. Being forced by others.B. Not having enough will power.C. Enjoying their first experiences.D. Following the examples of their friends.61. The author mentions his experience in the third paragraph to prove ____.A. will power helps develop bad habits sometimesB. drinking beer is harmful to the health of teenagersC. self-control should be developed when one is youngD. everyone can be challenged by different temptations62. In the last paragraph, the author stresses that ____.A. without self-control, no one can succeedB. bad habits don’t always lead to bad resultsC. applying self-control correctly is importantD. people can develop wisdom from bad behavior63. What would be the best title for the passage?A. My First Sip of BeerB. Do You Have Will Power ?C. Will Power Benefits UsD. Dark Side of Self-controlCShould ecigarettes (electronic cigarettes) be a new choice for the smokers trying to get rid of the habit? Reactions from Americans are mixed.More than half of the people questioned in a survey think ecigarettes should be controlled by the US Food and Dr ug Administration, but 47 percent believe the ecigarettes should be available to the smokers who want to quit.“In the hunt for a safer cigarette, ecigarettes are becoming a popular choice among those either trying to quit or looking to replace standard tobacco smoke with an alternative that manufacturers claim to be safer,” Zogby International, which conducted the survey, said in a statement.About half of the 4,611 adults who took part in the survey had heard about ecigarettes, which are batterypowered,or rechargeable cigarettes that vaporize a liquid nicotine solution. They do not produce smoke but a water vapor without smell.Sold mostly on the Internet, ecigarettes were first made in China.Last year the World Health Organization (WHO) warned against using ecigarettes, saying there was no evidence to prove they were safe or helped smokers break the habit. The WHO said people who smoke ecigarettes breathe in a fine fog of nicotine into the lungs.Nearly a third of people questioned in the survey think that ecigarettes should be allowed in places where smoking is forbidden, because they don’t produce smoke, but 46 percent disagree.Men who were aware of the availability of ecigarettes were more likely than women to say they should be a choice available to smokers who want to quit.Young people, aged 18-29,and singles were the groups most open to trying ecigarettes.Smoking is the single largest cause of preventable death worldwide, according to the WHO.64.What can we learn from Paragraph 1?A.American smokers ough t to try ecigarettes.B.Americans have different opinions about ecigarettes.C.Every kind of cigarettes should be forbidden in America.D.Most of the Americans don’t like ecigarettes.65.According to Zogby International, ecigarettes ______.A.are much safer than common cigarettesB.are popular among people who want to quit smokingC.will take the place of traditional cigarettesD.are produced in a safer way by manufacturers66.What do we know about ecigarettes from the passage?A.Most Americans are familiar with them.B.They are a good choice as there is no nicotine.C.They produce a water vapor that can’t be seen.D.Most people buy them on the Internet.67.What’s the attitude of the WHO towards ecigarettes?A.Negative B.Supportive C.Doubtful D.IndifferentDLONDON (Reuters)—New faces given to a Chinese man after a bear tore off part of his face and a FrenchCaribbean man disfigured by a rare tumor show that such transplants can work and are not medical oddities (怪异),researchers said. The findings give hope to some people with severe facial disfigurement and suggest the transplants could prove longlasting without major problems.Despite the tissue rejection in the first year after their transplants, neither men had psychological problems accepting their new faces and have been able to rejoin society, they reported.Only three people have received face transplants. The world’s first was carried out on French woman Isabelle Dinoire in November 2005 after she was disfigured in an attack by her dog.In 2007,her doctors reported that she had recovered slowly and steadily, overcoming two periods of rejection. In 2006,Chinese doctors performed a face transplant on a 30yearold hit by a bear. While there were some complications with tissue rejection following the operation, two years later the man was doing well, his doctors said.“This case suggests that facial transplantation might be an option for restoring a severely disfigured face, and could enable patients to bring themselves back into society,” Shuzhong Guo and colleagues at Xijing Hospital in China wrote.A French team described their work on a 29yearold man who suffered from Von Recklinghausen disease,an illness that changes the shape of his face.“The man,who was not named, was given a new nose, mouth and chin in a 2007 operation. He began to work 13 months after the transplant has more function in his face and has not rejected the new tissue,” his doctors said.“Our case confirms that face transplantation is practical and effe ctive for the correction of specific disfigurement,” Dr.Laurent Lantieri and colleagues at the HenriMondor hospital outside Paris wrote.68.What’s the main idea of this passage?A.Face transplants can work.B.Face transplants help regain confidence.C.Three people have received face transplants.D.Disfigured people need face transplants.69.The underlined word “restoring” in Paragraph 4 means “________”.A.removing B.recovering C.repairing D.rejecting70.What problem resulted from the facial operations?A.The patients wouldn’t accept the facial change.B.It was hard for the patients to get along with others.C.It took some time for the patients to recover from the operation.D.The patients usually suffered from tissue rejection.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,共10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

We have been volunteering at the shelter ever since. I was recently feeling the push to serve more, so I scheduled a Saturday visit. My daughter had social invitations, but she also felt the push to visit the shelter, so she planned to go there with her friends and me, later in the day instead. We piled up old blankets, sheets and pillows to take along and donate. On arriving and touring, we met 500 dogs and 200 cats being cared for at this shelter. After the tour we served meals to the puppies in the sick or injured puppy room. We held and comforted those who would clearly survive their injuries and several who were so sick that the volunteer vet on hand said they had a 50% chance of being alive next week. Then we fed two sick and abandoned young kittens. While feeding the animals I watched the workers who were cleaning out some of the dog houses with healthy dogs who would be returned to the streets. I was touched most by how often they stopped in their duty to pet and play with these dogs. They did it with such love. While some workers and volunteers were paid, others were paid nothing to support these animals. My daughter and I stayed for 4﹣5 hours, beyond the time she had scheduled to meet friends for lunch. The highest ranked UK university is Oxford in 21st place. This league table, described as the Alma Mater Index, shows which universities aroundthe world taught the bosses of some of the world’s biggest companies. One in 20 had a degree from a single institution, Harvard. This included Margaret C. Whitman of Hewlett﹣Packard, Jeffrey R. Could your weekend lie﹣in(睡懒觉) kill you? " asked the Daily mail. It is said in a study that sleeping more at weekends can increase the risk of heart disease. Since most of us change our sleep schedule depending on whether it’s a work or non﹣work day, it’s an interesting question. Is the lie﹣in really so dangerous? Researchers say that changing sleep patterns causes social jet lag. Is that even a thing?Changing our sleeping hours causes the effect of crossing a time zone﹣it makes us sleepy during the day. People who changed their sleep patterns were also more likely to gain weight during the study and more suited to going to bed and waking late because of the change of their biological clock. They were more at risk of these changes than earlier sleepers and risers. The study also shows an association between switching sleep patterns and changes in some blood results. It does not show that anyone’s developing heart disease was because they had lie﹣ins.Jim Horne, one of the professors of the Sleep Research Centre at Loughborough University, says the concept of social jet lag is likely to feed our anxiety about sleep, so we should really stop worrying so much and have a limited weekend lie﹣in. Worry is bad for sleep and we naturally compensate for not getting enough rest in the week by lying﹣in at weekends, so we shouldn’t stop ________. However, we should limit the time.Studies show that if you accumulate a five﹣hour sleep debt during the week, then you only need one and a half hours of extra sleep on your days off to make up for it. It wouldbe a shame to be scared of a lie﹣in. Studies of sleep and risk factors for heart disease can struggle to tell between poor sleep causing stress and stress disrupting sleep. Work stress can cause both a rise in blood pressure and changes in sleep patterns. Sleep is the test for the state of one’s health, and the most important thing that happens when you don’t get enough of it is that you feel sleepy.(1)What’s the probable effect of changing our sleep patterns?________A.Becoming unhealthy.B.Losing weight quickly.C.Easily adapting to time zones.D.Becoming early sleepers and risers.(2)What is Jim Horne’s attitude towards the weekend lie﹣in?________A.Negative.B.Doubtful.C.Unconcerned.D.Supportive.(3)What does the underlined phrase “doing it” in Paragraph 3 refer to?________A.Lying﹣in.B.Worrying.C.Sleeping early.pensating for the limit.(4)What can we infer from the text?________A.The sleep debt must be paid off completely.B.The weekend lie﹣in is a bad habit for all people.C.The more hours one sleeps, the healthier he will be.D.Poor sleep may result from and cause stress in turn.【答案】ADAD【考点】阅读理解综合【解析】本文属于说明文阅读,作者通过这篇文章主要向我们描述了一项研究表明,周末多睡会增加患心脏病的风险.【解答】(1)A.细节理解题.根据文章People who changed their sleep patterns were also more likely to gain weight during the study and more suited to going to bed and waking late because of the change of their biological clock可知改变我们的睡眠模式可能变得不健康;故选A.(2)D.态度判断题.根据文章Jim Horne, one of the professors of the Sleep Research Centre at Loughborough University, says the concept of social jet lag is likely to feed our anxiety about sleep, so we should really stop worrying so much and have a limited weekend lie﹣in可知吉姆•霍恩对周末卧床的态度是支持的;故选D.(3)A.词义猜测题.根据文章Worry is bad for sleep and we naturally compensate for not getting enough rest in the week by lying﹣in at weekends,so we shouldn’t stop doingit可知担心对睡眠有害,我们自然会通过周末躺在床上来弥补一周没有得到足够的休息,所以我们不应该停止这样做;意为多睡;故选A.(4)D.推理判断题.根据文章Studies of sleep and risk factors for heart disease can struggle to tell between poor sleep causing stress and stress disrupting sleep可知从课文中可以推断出睡眠不足可能是由压力引起的;故选D.第二节(满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项.选项中有两项为多余选项.Over the course of my life, I come to realize we will have unpleasant feelings from time to time. We have been volunteering at the3shelter ever since. My daughter and I stayed for 4-5 hours, beyond the time she had scheduled to meet friends for lunch. She chose to cancel her social date and spend more time with these animals despite the tough conditions. Tired and dirty, we felt blessed to share some time with people who care deeply for relieving the suffering of so many vulnerable beings. And then we went back. May all the sick and injured animals be relieved of their suffering.24.Why did the author plan a Saturday visit to the shelterA.To apply to be a real social volunteer.B.To build up homes for homeless dogs.C.To do more work for homeless animals.D.To attend her daughter s gatherings with friends.25.According to the second paragraph, .A.not all of the hurt animals in the shelter could keep aliveB.the author s daughter finally accepted social invitationsC.the author merely fed sick dogs with his daughter and friendsD.most hurt animals in the shelter have a 50% chance of being alive26.What moved the author most while volunteeringA.The animals led a happy life in the shelter.B.The workers showed deep love to the animals.C.The workers were paid nothing to do their work.D.Many healthy animals would come back to the streets.27.What is the last paragraph mainly about4A.The schedule of the author s daughter.B.The author s wish to return to care animals.C.The reasons for the author s daughter missing her social date.D.The feelings of the father and daughter as volunteers in the shelter.CA survey of university backgrounds of heads of major global companies found that Harvard in the United States was the most likely place to have studied in.The Times Higher Education magazine ranked the universities attended by chief executive officers (CEO) of Fortune Global 500 companies. There are four US universities in the top 10, with three from France, two from Japan and one from South Korea. The highest ranked UK university is Oxford in 21st place. This league table, described as the Alma Mater Index, shows which universities around the world taught the bosses of some of the world s biggest companies. One in 20 had a degree from a single institution, Harvard. This included Margaret C. Whitman of Hewlett-Packard, Jeffrey R. Immelt of General Electric and Vittorio Colao of Vodafone. But the top 10 for producing business leaders does not contain all the usual names that appear at the top of university rankings. Oxford and Cambridge are absent, but the University of Pennsylvania in the US and Keio University in Japan are included, along with three French universities, headed by the Ecole Polytechnique.Across the top 100, universities from the US dominate, followed by universities in China, Japan, France and Germany. There are more CEOs who went to university in Asia than in Europe. In terms of national comparisons, UK universities produced the sixth highest number of global chief executives, with Oxford in 21st place and Cambridge in 45th place. But even though Harvard might have taught the biggest number of bosses from the top 500 companies, it was not attended by any of the heads of the biggest 10 companies, who were from a more diverse range of universities.Royal Dutch Shell is headed by a graduate of Zurich University of Applied Sciences; Walmart is headed by a student of Georgia Tech and Exxon Mobil has a chief executive from the University of Texas, Austin. Three of the leaders of these biggest companies went to university in China and the head of Volkswagen went to university in Stuttgart.28.How many Asian universities are among the world s top 10 universities for global CEOsA.One.B.Two.C.Three.D.Four.29.What does the underlined word “dominate” in Paragraph 5 probably meanA.Decrease.B.Accelerate.5C.Take the lead.D.Make great progress.30.What can we learn about the UK universitiesA.Cambridge University ranks highest among them.B.None of them are among the top 10 list of the survey.C.They performed better than French universities on the list.D.They produced the second most number of global CEOs.31.Which of the following can be the best title for the textA.The Rankings of the Famous Universities in the WorldB.Which Is Described as the Best University in the WorldC.Students Are Currently Entering Various Top-class UniversitiesD.Which University Tops the League Table of Where Bosses StudiedD“Could your weekend lie-in (睡懒觉) kill you” asked the Daily Mail. It is said in a study that sleeping more at weekends can increase the risk of heart disease. Since most of us change our sleep schedule depending on whether it s a work or non-work day, it s an interesting question. Is the lie-in really so dangerous Researchers say that changing sleep patterns causes social jet lag. Is that even a thingChanging our sleeping hours causes the effect of crossing a time zone—it makes us sleepy during the day. People who changed their sleep patterns were also more likely to gain weight during the study and more suited to going to bed and waking late because of the change of their biological clock. They were more at risk of these changes than earlier sleepers and risers. The study also shows an association between switching sleep patterns and changes in some blood results. It does not show that anyone s developing heart disease was because they had lie-ins.Jim Horne, one of the professors of the Sleep Research Centre at Loughborough University, says the concept of social jet lag is likely to feed our anxiety about sleep, so we should really stop worrying so much and have a limited weekend lie-in. Worry is bad for sleep and we naturally compensate for not getting enough rest in the week by lying-in at weekends, so we shouldn t stop doing it. However, we should limit the time.Studies show that if you accumulate a five-hour sleep debt during the week, then you only need one and a half hours of extra sleep on your days off to make up for it. It would be a shame to be scared of a lie-in. Studies of sleep and risk factors for heart disease can struggle to tell between poor sleep causing stress and stress disrupting sleep. Work stress can cause both a rise in blood pressure and changes in sleep6patterns. Sleep is the test for the state of one s health, and the most important thing that happens when you don t get enough of it is that you feel sleepy.32.What s the probable effect of changing our sleep patternsA.Becoming unhealthy.B.Losing weight quickly.C.Easily adapting to time zones.D.Becoming early sleepers and risers.33.What is Jim Horne s attitude towards the weekend lie-inA.Negative.B.Doubtful.C.Unconcerned.D.Supportive.34.What does the underlined phrase “doing it” in Paragraph 3 refer toA.Lying-in.B.Worrying.C.Sleeping early.pensating for the limit.35.What can we infer from the textA.The sleep debt must be paid off completely.B.The weekend lie-in is a bad habit for all people.C.The more hours one sleeps, the healthier he will be.D.Poor sleep may result from and cause stress in turn.第二节(共5小题; 每小题2分, 满分10 分)根据短文内容, 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

We have been volunteering at the shelter ever since. I was recently feeling the push to serve more, so I scheduled a Saturday visit. My daughter had social invitations, but she also felt the push to visit the shelter, so she planned to go there with her friends and me, later in the day instead. Wepiled up old blankets, sheets and pillows to take along and donate. May all the sick and injured animals be relieved of their suffering.24.Why did the author plan a Saturday visit to the shelter?A.To apply to be a real social volunteer.B.To build up homes for homeless dogs.C.To do more work for homeless animals.D.To attend her daughter s gatherings with friends.25.According to the second paragraph, .A.not all of the hurt animals in the shelter could keep aliveB.the author s daughter finally accepted social invitationsC.the author merely fed sick dogs with his daughter and friendsD.most hurt animals in the shelter have a 50% chance of being alive26.What moved the author most while volunteering?A.The animals led a happy life in the shelter.B.The workers showed deep love to the animals.C.The workers were paid nothing to do their work.D.Many healthy animals would come back to the streets.27.What is the last paragraph mainly about?A.The schedule of the author s daughter.B.The author s wish to return to care animals.C.The reasons for the author s daughter missing her social date.D.The feelings of the father and daughter as volunteers in the shelter.CA survey of university backgrounds of heads of major global companies found that Harvard in the United States was the most likely place to have studied in.The Times Higher Education magazine ranked the universities attended by chief executive officers (CEO) of Fortune Global 500 companies. Three of the leaders of these biggest companies went to university in China and the head of Volkswagen went to university in Stuttgart.28.How many Asian universities are among the world s top 10 universities for global CEOs?A.One.B.Two.C.Three.D.Four.29.What does the underlined word “dominate” in Paragraph 5 probably mean?A.Decrease.B.Accelerate.C.Take the lead.D.Make great progress.30.What can we learn about the UK universities?A.Cambridge University ranks highest among them.B.None of them are among the top 10 list of the survey.C.They performed better than French universities on the list.D.They produced the second most number of global CEOs.31.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?A.The Rankings of the Famous Universities in the WorldB.Which Is Described as the Best University in the World?C.Students Are Currently Entering Various Top-class UniversitiesD.Which University Tops the League Table of Where Bosses Studied?D“Could your weekend lie-in (睡懒觉) kill you?” asked the Daily Mail. It is said in a study that sleeping more at weekends can increase the risk of heart disease. Since most of us change our sleep schedule depending on whether it s a work or non-work day, it s an interesting question. Is the lie-in really so dangerous? Researchers say that changing sleep patterns causes social jet lag. Is that even a thing?Changing our sleeping hours causes the effect of crossing a time zone—it makes us sleepy during the day. The shoe comes in two sizes:small that fits children aged 4 to 9 and large for children aged 9 to 14.Lee says he got the idea for the shoe while working as a volunteer in an orphanage in Kenya."…and let her toes stick out.And I just remember thinking, wouldn't it be nice if there were a pair of shoes that could grow with her feet?"However,Lee says it was not easy to turn his idea into a reality."I kept writing down I should do this because of this or because of that."Finally,in 2009 Lee founded a non﹣profit organization called Because International. In the office of Because International,Lee like ours?To understand the issue, let's take a look at three types of "waits".The very purest form of waiting is the Watched﹣Pot Wait.It is without doubt the most annoying of all.Take filling up the kitchen sink(洗碗池)as an example. There is absolutely nothing you can do while this is going on but keep both eyes fixed on the sink until it's full.During these waits, the brain slips away from the body and wanders about until the water runs over the edge of the counter and onto your socks. This kind of wait makes the waiter helpless and mindless.A cousin to the Watched﹣Pot Wait is the Forced Wait. This one requires a bit of discipline.Properly preparing packaged noodle soup required a ForcedWait.Directions are very specific."Bring three cups of water to boil, add mix, simmer three minutes, remove from heat, let stand five minutes."I have my doubts that anyone has actually followed the procedures strictly. After all,Forced Waiting requires patience.Perhaps the most powerful type of waiting is the Lucky﹣Break Wait. This type of wait is unusual in that it is for the most part voluntary.Unlike the Forced Wait, which is also voluntary, waiting for your lucky break does not necessarily mean that it will happen.Turning one's life into a waiting game requires faith and hope, and is strictly for the optimists among us.On the surface it seems as ridiculous as following the directions on soup mixes, but the Lucky﹣Break Wait well serves those who are willing to do it.As long as one doesn't come to rely on it,wishing for a few good things to happen never hurts anybody. We certainly do spend a good deal of our time waiting. The next time you're standing at the sink waiting for it to fill while cooking noodle soup that you'll have to eat until a large bag of cash falls out of the sky, don't be desperate. You're probably just as busy as the next guy.28.While doing a Watched﹣Pot Wait,we tend to B.A.keep ourselves busyB.get absent﹣mindedC.grow anxiousD.stay focused29.What is the difference between the Forced Wait and the Watched﹣Pot Wait?AA.The Forced Wait requires some self﹣control.B.The Forced Wait makes people passive.C.The Watched﹣Pot Wait needs directions.D.The Watched﹣Pot Wait engages body and brain.30.What can we learn about the Lucky﹣Break Wait?BA.It is less voluntary than the Forced Wait.B.It doesn't always bring the desired result.C.It is more fruitful than the Forced Wait.D.It doesn't give people faith and hope.31.The author supports his view by C.A.exploring various causes of "waits".B.describing detailed processes of "waits".C.analyzing different categories of "waits"D.revealing frustrating consequences of "waits"【解答】BDBC28.B.细节理解题.根据第二段There is absolutely nothing you can do while this is going on but keep both eyes fixed on the sink until it's full.During these waits, the brain slips away from the body and wanders about until the water runs over the edge of the counter and onto your socks可知当我们盯着罐子看的时候,我们倾向于心不在焉;故选B.29.A.细节理解题.根据第三段After all,Forced Waiting requires patience可知强迫等待与被监视的等待的区别是强迫等待需要一些自制力;故选A.30.B.细节理解题.根据文章Unlike the Forced Wait, which is also voluntary, waiting for your lucky break does not necessarily mean that it will happen可知幸运的等待并不总是带来预期的结果;故选B.31.C.推理判断题.根据文章To understand the issue, let's take a look at three types of"waits可知作者证明自己的观点通过分析不同类别的"等待;故选C.32.(8分)A warm drink of milk before bed has long been the best choice for those wanting a good night's sleep. But now a study has found it really does help people nod off﹣if it is milked from a cow at night.Researchers have discovered that "night milk" contains more melatonin(褪黑激素),which has been proven to help people feel sleepy and reduce anxiety. The study,by researchers from Seoul,South Korea, involved mice being fed with dried milk powder made from cows milked both during the day and at night. Those given night milk, which contained 10 times the amount of melatonin, were less active and less anxious than those fed with the milk collected during daytime, according to the study published in The Journal of Medicinal Food.Night milk quickened the start of sleep and caused the mice to sleep longer. While the effect of cows milk harvested at different time has not been tested on humans up to now, taking melatonin drugs has been suggested to those who are struggling to fall asleep at night.Previous studies have also indicated that milk can be excellent for helping sleep because of the calcium content, which helps people to relax.Milk is also sugar﹣free and additive﹣free with nutritionists recommending skimmed milk as the best choice before bed as it is the least fattening. The more fat you take in before bedtime, the greater burden you will put on your body at night.32.According to the text, the mice fed with daytime milk B.A.started sleep more easilyB.were more anxiousC.were less activeD.woke up later33.Which of the following is true of melatonin according to the text?DA.It's been tested on mice for ten times.B.It can make people more energetic.C.It exists in milk in great amount.D.It's used in sleeping drugs.34.What can be a suitable title for the text?AA.Night Milk and SleepB.Fat,Sugar and HealthC.An Experiment on MiceD.Milk Drinking and Health35.How does the author support the theme of the text?DA.By giving examples.B.By stating arguments.C.By explaining statistical data.D.By providing research results.【解答】BDAD32.B.细节理解题.由第四段第一句"Those given night milk, which contained 10 times the amount of melatonin, were less active and less anxious than those fed with the milk collected during daytime"可知,那些喝了白天产的牛奶的老鼠比喝晚上产的牛奶的老鼠要更活跃和焦虑.故正确答案为B.33.D.细节理解题.由第二段"Researchers have discovered that'night milk'contains more melatonin, which has been proven to help people feel sleepy and reduce anxiety"可知,褪黑色素可以使人有困意,因此可以用于安眠药中,D项正确.C 项,"褪黑激素使得人们更加有能量",与文中所提到的褪黑激素使老鼠变得没有活力不符,C项错误;B项,"牛奶中有很多褪黑激素",由第三段第一句"Those given night milk, which contained 10 times the amount of melatonin"可知晚上产的牛奶中存在很多褪黑色素而不是所有牛奶,B项错误.A项,"褪黑激素在老鼠身上测试过10次",文章未提及,A项错误;故正确答案为D.34.A.主旨大意题.本文主要讲了在老鼠身上做了实验得知晚上产的牛奶中含有更多褪黑色素,有助于睡眠,故正确答案为A.35.D.细节理解题.由文章第二段"Researchers have discovered that'night milk'contains more melatonin …"和倒数第二段"Previous studies have also indicated that milk can be excellent for helping sleep because of the calcium content, which helps people to relax."可知,作者通过提供调查结果来阐明整篇文章主旨.故正确答案为D.第二节(满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项.选项中有两项为多余选项.36.(10分)Every animal sleeps, but the reason for this has remained foggy. When lab rats are not allowed to sleep, they die within a month.(36)COne idea is that sleep helps us strengthen new memories.(37)E We know that, while awake, fresh memories are recorded by reinforcing (加强)connections between brain cells, but the memory processes that take place while we sleep have been unclear.Support is growing for a theory that sleep evolved so that connections between neurons(神经元)in the brain can be weakened overnight, making room for fresh memories to form the next day.(38)FNow we have the most direct evidence yet that he is right.(39)G The synapses in the mice taken at the end of a period of sleep were 18 percent smaller than those taken before sleep, showing that the connections between neurons weaken while sleeping. If Tononi's theory is right,it would explain why, when we miss a night′s,we find it harder the next day to concentrate and learn new information ﹣our brains may have smaller room for new experiences.Their research also suggests how we may build lasting memories over time even though the synapses become thinner. The team discovered that some synapses seem to be protected and stayed the same size.(40)B"You keep what matters," Tononi says.A.We should also try to sleep well the night before.B.It's as if the brain is preserving its most important memories.C.Similarly,when people go for a few days without sleeping, they get sick.D.The processes take place to stop our brains becoming loaded with memories.E.That's why students do better in tests if they get a chance to sleep after learning.F."Sleep is the price we pay for learning," says Giulio Tononi, who developed the idea.G.Tononi's team measured the size of these connections,or synapses,in thebrains of 12mice.【解答】CEFGB36.C. 故答案选F.39.G. 故答案选G.40.B. One day, when she was five years old,she was walking with her This language that resembles English is called Singaporean English or S i n g l i s h.The New York Times calls Singlish “patchwork” because Singapore consists of migrants(移民) from several countries including China, India and Malaysia, and they all speak their own versions of “English”.“Everyone who speaks it shapes it,” wrote the newspaper. For example, in Singlish, you can easily recognize influences from Chinese, including vocabulary such as” Mee Siam” and “da bao”. Sentence structures like ” toilet where” inst ead of “where’s the toilet” also come from Chinese.Interesting and diverse as it may seem, the trend for Singlish is worrying Singapore’s government. It is concerned that the dialect is lowering the country’s English standard and may affect its relationship with visitors. It even started the Speak Good English Movement.Unfortunately, the problem was not solved. Instead, Singlish has boomed, especially among young people who think of it as a sign of being cool and a way of identifying themselves as Singaporean. But this does not mean that standard English is being abandoned by young people. In fact, they are much more capable than the government gives credit--they can speak both.“We are a nation good at code switching-- we know that the way we speak to friends or drivers must be different from how act at work or school,” wrote Cheryl, a Singaporean author, in Time magazine, “To actively urge us to give up a language that speaks to the very heart of who we are, that's so beautifully represents the melting pot of Chinese, Indians, Malaysians and Eurasians that we are, is shortsighted, surely.”28 Why does Singapore have many different versions of English?A It is made up of migrants.B It is highly westernized.C It is influenced by Chinese.D It is affected by official languages.29 What is the purpose of starting the Speak Good English Movement?A To stop the new trend.B To better the relationship.C To keep the English standard.D To give the government credit.30 What do the young people think of Singlish?A It’s interesting.B It’s their identity.C It’s a sign of status.D It’s a way of code-switching.31 What can we learn from what Cheryl said?A Different people speak different styles of Singlish.B Singlish is a more beautiful language than others.C People speaks Singlish only to friends and drivers.D People can use Singlish to express themselves well.DLong before iphones, the cigarette was the companion of choice for restlessness. And long before Facebook and WeChat, it was tobacco that promised to better your social life. Now, quitting smartphones has become the new quitting smoking.Of course, technology does not yellow your teeth, cause disease or lead to cancer. But some individuals are so concerned that device addiction is damaging their mental health. In order to reduce their dependence, even in Silicon Valley, people are turning off the messages that constantly buzz for their attention, banning smartphones from the bedroom and, curiously, changing the colors on their screens to a less tempting scale of gray. The big tech companies will have to work out how to respond to this new generation of quitters. Facebook is the first to go public with its attempt, hoping its recent move can make the social network more homely.Last year the tech industry got a bad name- Big Tech-with unfortunate echoes of other industries that have faced fierce opposition, including Big Tobacco. Like them, the tech industry has to reduce concern from a new generation of activist shareholders(股东) that are questioning its role in the world. These campaigns are never as fierce as those faced by Big Tobacco. In the 1990s, socially responsible investors refused to put money in tobacco stocks. It is far difficult for investors to challenge Big Tech and hard to separate the good these companies do in the world--connecting old friends and giving space for people to share their ideas--from the bad.In the meantime, stopping using technology remains problematic. In The World Without Mind: The Existential Threat of Big Tech,Franklin Foer argues that tech should be seen in a similar way to junk food: a convenience that some reject for more continuing nutrition. So we need to do more to turn the tide. In the same way that public service announcements made smoking around your children taboo(禁忌),we can warn parents against losing themselves in their smartphones while taking care of kids.We can also create no-smartphone zones at dinner. Eventually smartphones could be banned from all public places and help us give our attention to the people around us instead.32 How did people keep close relationships with others in the past?A By smoking.B By drinking.C By phoningD By dining out.33 Why is the tech industry called Big Tech?A It plays a bad role in the world.B It is as big as Big Tobacco.C It has an unfortunate name.D It is a giant in Silicon Valley.34 What can we infer from Franklin Foer’s argument about the tech?A It promotes social development.B It is still favored by some people.C It is worse than Big Tobacco.D It offers continuing nutrition.35 Which can be the best title for the passage?A Creating a No Smartphone LifeB Smartphones Enrich Our Social LifeC Smoking Does Greater Harm Than Smartphones DoD Quitting Smartphones Is the New Quitting Smoking第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。

There are four US universities in the top 10, with three from France, two from Japan and one from South Korea. The highest ranked UK university is Oxford in 21st place. This league table, described as the Alma Mater Index, shows which universities around the world taught the bosses of some of the world??s biggest companies. One in 20 had a degree from asingle institution, Harvard. But even though Harvard might have taught the biggest number of bosses from the top 500 companies, it was not attended by any of the heads of the biggest 10 companies, who were from a more diverse range of universities.Royal Dutch Shell is headed by a graduate of Zurich University of Applied Sciences; Walmart is headed by a student of Georgia Tech and Exxon Mobil has a chief executive from the Universityof Texas, Austin. Three of the leaders of these biggest companies went to university in China and the head of Volkswagen went to university in Stuttgart.many Asian universities are among the world??s top 10 universities for global CEOs . . . .does the underlined word “dominate” in Paragraph 5 probably mean. .the lead. great progress.can we learn about the UK universitiesUniversity ranks highest among them.of them are among the top 10 list of the survey.performed better than French universities on the list.produced the second most number of global CEOs.of the following can be the best title for the textRankings of the Famous Universities in the WorldIs Described as the Best University in the WorldAre Currently Entering Various Top-class UniversitiesUniversity Tops the League Table of Where Bosses StudiedD“Could your weekend lie-in (睡懒觉) kill you” asked the Daily Mail. It is said in a study that sleeping more at weekends can increase the risk of heart disease. Since most of us change our sleep schedule depending on whether it??s a work or non-work day, it??s an interesting question. Is thelie-in really so dangerous Researchers say that changing sleep patterns causes social jet lag. It does not show that anyone??s developing heart disease was because they had lie-ins.Jim Horne, one of the professors of the Sleep Research Centre at Loughborough University, says the concept of social jet lag is likely to feed our anxiety about sleep, so we should really stop worrying so much and have a limited weekend lie-in. Worry is bad for sleep and we naturally compensate for not getting enough rest in the week by lying-in at weekends, so we shouldn??t stop doing it. However, we should limit the time.?Studies show that if you accumulate a five-hour sleep debt during the week, then you only need one and a half hours of extra sleep on your days off to make up for it. It would be a shame to be scared of a lie-in. Studies of sleep and risk factors for heart disease can struggle to tell between poor sleep causing stress and stress disrupting sleep. Work stress can cause both a rise in blood pressure and changes in sleep patterns. Sleep is the test for the state of one??s health, and the most important thing that happens when you don??t get enough of it is that you feel sleepy.??s the probable effect of changing our sleep patternsunhealthy.weight quickly.adapting to time zones.early sleepers and risers.is Jim Horne??s attitude towards the weekend lie-in. . . .does the underlined phrase “doing it” in Paragraph 3 refer to. .early. for the limit.can we infer from the textsleep debt must be paid off completely.weekend lie-in is a bad habit for all people.more hours one sleeps, the healthier he will be.sleep may result from and cause stress in turn.第二节(共5小题; 每小题2分, 满分10 分)根据短文内容, 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

ALife experiences can show one’s “grit”(坚韧). Complex challenges early in life helped the following people develop skills that got them to the top of their professions.Ursula Burns, Chairwoman, VEON; Former CEO, XeroxHer family was so poor that her single mother traded office cleaning for health care. But Burns’ early gift for math won her a scholarship and an internship at Xerox, where she would compete her way to the top. “I’m a black lady from the Lower East Side,” she says. “Not a lot scares me.”Howard Schultz, Executive Chairman, StarbucksSchultz grew up in public housing in Brooklyn, surrounded by poverty, and was the first in his family to go to college (on a football scholarship). After training in sales, he set up the company that would later buy Starbucks. “In the course of the year I spent trying to raise money, I spoke to 242 people, and 217 of them said no.” he said. Sean Combs, CEO, Sean JohnCombs began a generation of hip-hop talent and made a lasting influence on fashion. But his story could have turned out much differently: his drug dealer father was killed when he was 3. “It made me work even harder.” he recently said.Geisha Williams, CEO, PG&EHer parents fled Cuba when Williams was 5. By 7, she was her parents’ main translator in talks with lawyers and accountants at grocer y stores they owned in New Jersey. The experience did help her. “I went from thinking I could be a manager to thinking I could do something much bigger.” she told Fortune.21.Who did best in math at school?bs.B.Burns.C.Schultz.D.Williams.22.How did the death of Combs’ father influence him?A.It made him a failure.B.He became a drug dealer.C.It made him even stronger.D.He became a hip-hopper.23.What can we learn from the passage?A.Cuba is a good place to do business.B.No one wanted to help Schultz at first.C.Poor family kids can be successful easily.D.Difficulty in life pushed Williams forward.BLooking at a pile of old photos, I couldn’t help feeling rather regretful.I’ve never got into the habit of sorting out photos. However, it’s almost a habit of mine to have photos taken thoughtlessly. Thus, photos have been piling up in my childhood to womanhood. In spite of that, those black-and-white pictures taken in my early years are rarely kept, except a few survivals regarded as antiques. A bald(秃头的)baby picture of me that I treasured, the only one left, is now missing.Familiar faces flash one by one before my eyes. Though the world is so small and we all live in it, yet we are separated by physical and psychological distances, some smaller, some larger. With the passage of time, one cannot, regretfully, relive(重温)it with the same feeling as one had in the picture. What one can get from the old photos is but a bit of the past joy.One takes pictures with different persons in different time and places. They fill one with nostalgia(怀旧)in various degrees —some more, some less, and others none. That’s why one has conflicting feelings towards the old photos. Still kept with the current ones, they are even less favored than a daily-used cup, which is always close to the owner. How these pieces of thought influence me! Photos keep our images rather than our sentiment, which may not remain. The image is always there, but not its owner, whom the photo cannot keep, neither can it keep the event.Of course, there are some of the photos still holding my affection, such as those taken with my family members, with favorite playmates, fellow girl-students and best friends, not only in pictures but also in my life and heart. Now, since I have learned all this, I will not allow myself to be included casually in a photo taken with others. I’ll make sure that the friendship can last before I take a photo with somebody.24.Why did the writer have only a few black-and-white pictures?A.She took fewer of them.B.She took photos thoughtlessly.C.She didn’t take good care of them.D.She only liked the bald baby picture.25.What can we get from the old photos according to the writer?A.All the past events.B.Some past happiness.C.All the past excitement.D.The everlasting memory.26.What does the underlined word “sentiment” in paragraph 5 probably mean?A.Look.B.Thought.C.Feeling.D.Influence.27.What is the writer likely to do when asked to take a photo with others?A.To take the photo happily.B.To refuse the request politely.C.To ignore the request casually.D.To think carefully before action.CAs an Asian country, Singapore has a reputation for being highly westernized, with English among the country’s four official languages, but a couple of signs found on local buses that have recently become a hit online may say otherwise.Quite different from the English we know, the signs read, for example, “Here cannot go in” instead of “No Entry”, and “Here can charge phone” instead of “Charge phone here”.This language that resembles English is called Singaporean English, or “Singlish”.The New York Times calls Singlish “patchwork” because Singapore consists of migrants(移民)from several co untries including China, India and Malaysia, and they all speak their own versions of “English”.“Everyone who speaks it shapes it,” wrote the newspaper. For example, in Singlish you can easily recognize influences from Chinese, including vocabulary such as “Mee Siam” and “da bao”. Sentence structures like “toilet where” instead of “where’s the toilet” also come from Chinese.Interesting and diverse as it may seem, the trend for Singlish is worrying Singapore’s government. It is concerned that the dialec t is lowering the country’s English standard and may affect its relationship with visitors. It even started the Speak Good English Movement.Unfortunately, the problem was not solved. Instead, Singlish has boomed, especially among young people who think of it as a sign of being cool and a way of identifying themselves as Singaporean. But this doesn’t mean that Standard English is being abandoned by young people. In fact, they are much more capable than the government gives credit — they can speak both.“We are a nation good at code-switching — we know that the way we speak to friends or drivers must be different from how we act at work or school,” wrote Cheryl, a Singaporean author, in Time magazine. “To actively urge us to give up a language that speaks to the very heart of who we are, that so beautifully represents the melting pot of Chinese, Indians, Malaysians and Eurasians that we are, is shortsighted, surely.”28.Why does Singapore have many different versions of English?A.It is made up of migrants.B.It is highly westernized.C.It is influenced by Chinese.D.It is affected by official languages.29.What is the purpose of starting the Speak Good English Movement?A.To stop the new trend.B.To better the relationship.C.To keep the English standard.D.To give the government credit.30.What do the young people think of Singlish?A.It’s interesting.B.It’s their identity.C.It’s a sign of status.D.It’s a way of code-switching.31.What can we learn from what Cheryl said?A.Different people speak different styles of Singlish.B.Singlish is a more beautiful language than others.C.People speak Singlish only to friends and drivers.D.People can use Singlish to express themselves well.DLong before iPhones, the cigarette was the companion of choice for restlessness. In order to reduce their dependence, even in Silicon Valley, people are turning off the messages that constantly buzz for their attention, banning smartphones from the bedroom and, curiously, changing the colours on their screens to a less tempting scale of grey. The big tech companies will have to work out how to respond to this new generation of quitters. Facebook is the first to go public with its attempt, hoping its recent move to make the social network feel more homely.Last year the tech industry got a bad name — Big Tech — with unfortunate echoes of other industries that have faced fierce opposition, including Big Tobacco. Like them, the tech industry has to reduce concern from a new generation of activist shareholders(股东)that are questioning its role in the world. These campaigns are never as fierce as those faced by Big Tobacco. In the 1990s, socially responsible investors refused to put money intobacco stocks. It is far difficult for investors to challenge Big Tech and hard to separate the good these companies do in the world — connecting old friends and giving space for people to share their ideas — from the bad. In the meantime, stopping using technology remains problematic. In The World Without Mind: The Existential Threat of Big Tech, Franklin Foer argues that tech should be seen in a similar way to junk food: a convenience that some reject for more continuing nutrition. So we need to do more to turn the tide. In the same way that public service announcements made smoking around your children taboo(禁忌), we can warn parents against losing themselves in their smartphones while taking care of kids. We can also create no-smartphone zones at dinner. Eventually, smartphones could be banned from all public places and help us give our attention to the people around us instead.32.How did people keep close relationships with others in the past?A.By smoking.B.By drinking.C.By phoning.D.By dining out.33.Why is the tech industry called Big Tech?A.It plays a bad role in the world.B.It is as big as Big Tobacco.C.It has an unfortunate name.D.It is a giant in Silicon Valley.34.What can we inf er from Franklin Foer’s argument about tech?A.It promotes social development.B.It is still favored by some people.C.It is worse than Big Tobacco.D.It offers continuing nutrition.35.Which can be the best title for the passage?A.Creating a No Smartphone LifeB.Smartphones Enrich Our Social LifeC.Smoking Does Greater Harm Than Smartphones DoD.Quitting Smartphones Is the New Quitting Smoking第二节(共5 小题;每小题 2 分,满分10 分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

ALife experiences can show one’s “grit”(坚韧). Complex challenges early in life helped the following people develop skills that got them to the top of their professions.Ursula Burns, Chairwoman, VEON; Former CEO, XeroxHer fami ly was so poor that her single mother traded office cleaning for health care. But Burns’ early gift for maths won her a scholarship and an internship at Xerox, where she would compete her way to the top. “ I'm a black lady from the Lower East Side,” she says, “Not a lot scares me.”Howard Schultz, Executive Chairman, StarbucksSchultz grew up in public housing in Brooklyn, surrounded by poverty, and was the first in his family to go to college (on a football scholarship). After training in sales, he set up the company that would later buy Starbucks. “In the course of the year I spent trying to raise money, I spoke to 242 people, and 217 of them said no.” he said.Sean Combs, CEO, Sean JohnCombs began a generation of hip-hop talent and made a lasting influence on fashion. But he story could have turned out much differently: His drug dealer father was killed when he was3. “It made me work even harder.” he recently said.Geisha Williams, CEO, PG&EHer parents fled Cuba when Williams was 5. By 7, she was her parents main translator in talks with lawyers and accountants at grocery stores they owned. The experience did help her. “I went from thinking I could be a manager to thinking I could do something much bigger.” she told Fortune.Who did best in math at school?Combs B. Burns C. Schultz D. WilliamsHow did the death of Combs’ father influence him?It made him a failure. He became a drug dealer. It made him even stronger. He became a hip-hopper.What can we learn from the passage?Cuba is a good place to do business. No one wanted to help Schultz at first.Poor family kids can be successful easily.Difficulty in life pushed Williams forward.BLooking at a pile of old photos, I couldn't help feeling rather regretful.I've never got into the habit of sorting out photos. However, it's almost a habit of mine to have photos taken thoughtlessly. Thus, photos have been piling up in my childhood to womanhood. In spite of that, those black-and-white pictures taken in my early years are rarely kept, except a few survivals regarded as antiques. The bald(秃头的) baby picture of me that I treasured, the only one left, it's now missing.Familiar faces flash one by one before my eyes. Though the world is so small and we all live in it, yet we are separated by physical and psychological distances, some smaller, some larger. With the passage of time, one cannot, regretfully relive(重温) it with the same feeling as one had in the picture. What one can get from the old photos is but a bit of the past joy.One takes pictures with different persons in different time and places. They fill one with nostalgia(怀旧) in various degrees--some more, some less, and others none. That's why one has conflicting feelings towards the old photos. Still kept with the current ones, they're even less favored than a daily-used cup, which is always close to the owner. How these pieces of thought influence me. Photos keep our images rather than our sentiment, which may not remain. The image is always there but not its owner, whom the photo can't keep ,neither can it keep the event.Of course, there are some of the photos still holding my affection, such as those taken with my family members, with favorite playmates, fellow girl-students and best friends, not only in pictures but also in my life and heart. Now, since I have learned all this, I will not allow myself to be included casually in a photo taken with others. I'll make sure that the friendship can last before I take a photo with somebody.24.Why did the writer have only a few black-and-white pictures?A She took fewer of them.B She took photos thoughtlessly.C She didn't take good care of them.D She only liked the bald baby picture.25.What can we get from the old photos according to the writer?A All the past events.B Some past happiness.C All the past excitement.D The everlasting memory.26.What does the underlined word “sentiment” in paragraph 5 probably mean?A LookB ThoughtC FeelingD Influence27.What is the writer likely to do when asked to take photos others?A To take the photo happily.B To refuse the request politely.C To ignore the request casually.D To think carefully before action.CAs an Asian country, Singapore has a reputation for being highly westernized, with English among the country’s four official languages, but a coupl e of signs found on local buses that have recently become a hit online may say otherwise.Quite different from English we know, the sign read, for example, “Here cannot go in” instead of “No entry”, and Here can charge phone instead of Charge phone here. This language that resembles E n g l i s h i s c a l l e d S i n g a p o r e a n E n g l i s h o r S i n g l i s h.The New York Times calls Singlish “patchwork” because Singapore consists of migrants(移民) from several countries including China, India and Malaysia, and they all speak their own versions of “English”.“Everyone who speaks it shapes it,” wrote the newspaper. For example, in Singlish, you can easily recognize influences from Chinese, including vocabulary such as” Mee Siam” and “da bao”. Sentence structures like ” toilet where” instead of “where’s the toilet” also come from Chinese.Interesting and diverse as it may seem, the trend for Singlish is worrying Singapore’s government. In fact, they are much more capable than the government gives credit--they can speak both.“We are a nation good at code switching-- we know that the way we speak to friends or drivers must be different from how act at work or school,” wrote Cheryl, a Singaporean author, in Time magazine, “To actively urge us to give up a language that speaks to the very heart of who we are, that's so beautifully represents the m elting pot of Chinese, Indians, Malaysians and Eurasians that we are, is shortsighted, surely.”28 Why does Singapore have many different versions of English?A It is made up of migrants.B It is highly westernized.C It is influenced by Chinese.D It is affected by official languages.29 What is the purpose of starting the Speak Good English Movement?A To stop the new trend.B To better the relationship.C To keep the English standard.D To give the government credit.30 What do the young people think of Singlish?A It’s interesting.B It’s their identity.C It’s a sign of status.D It’s a way of code-switching.31 What can we learn from what Cheryl said?A Different people speak different styles of Singlish.B Singlish is a more beautiful language than others.C People speaks Singlish only to friends and drivers.D People can use Singlish to express themselves well.DLong before iphones, the cigarette was the companion of choice for restlessness. Eventually smartphones could be banned from all public places and help us give our attention to the people around us instead.32 How did people keep close relationships with others in the past?A By smoking.B By drinking.C By phoningD By dining out.33 Why is the tech industry called Big Tech?A It plays a bad role in the world.B It is as big as Big Tobacco.C It has an unfortunate name.D It is a giant in Silicon Valley.34 What can we infer from Franklin Foer’s argument about the tech?A It promotes social development.B It is still favored by some people.C It is worse than Big Tobacco.D It offers continuing nutrition.35 Which can be the best title for the passage?A Creating a No Smartphone LifeB Smartphones Enrich Our Social LifeC Smoking Does Greater Harm Than Smartphones DoD Quitting Smartphones Is the New Quitting Smoking第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。
