2020年剑桥商务英语BEC初级考试试题及答案2020年剑桥商务英语BEC初级考试试题及答案 Questions 1 – 8 Look at the sentences below and at the five managers’ comments on leadership on the opposite pageWhich new item (A, B, C ,D or E) dose each statement 1 – 8 refer to ?For each statement ! – 8 , make one letter(A, B, C ,D or E) on your Answer Sheet .You will need to use some of these letters more than once .1、Successful leadership involves making sure that employees accept new ideas.2、A good leader can bring success to a company in difficulties3、Leaders should be assessed on the basis of their achievements4、The personalities of good leaders are generally different from those of other managers5、Patience is a valuable quality in a successful leader6、Leaders consider potential changes in what their company does for others7、Good leaders will encourage their staff if their organization is in difficulties8、Leaders need to adapt their behaviour to suit different circumstancesA Maurizio VernaLong-term, visionary business leaders must be prepared to invest to get what they want for their company. They know when and how to apply pressure and to take risks, when they need to display a more hands-off approach. I have a pretty clear view o fmy ideal business leader, and of course that’s where I ‘m trying to head: he or she should start up and grow a cash-rich, multi-interest international organization of tremendous stren ngth and depth.B Sue TuckerThe pace of technological change, and the rate at which businesses are changing , requires leaders to have a particular aptitude for technology and an understanding of the internet. A lot of people are aware of the opportunities here ,but awareness alone isn’t enough: in a true leader this needs to be coupled with clever marketing, product design and technological innovation, and keeping abreast of everything going on in the company. In fact the acid test , I think , is being able to use all of these skills to turn around a failing company.C Carol GodfreyEffective leaders stand out from the herd. They’re often idiosyncratic, even eccentric. They have the confidence to be themselves, and not to adopt the language andattributes of the run-of-the-mill professional managers and accou n tants. What’s crucial is having the charisma or whatever it is that gives their staff confidence in them, so they can keep everyone on board when they want to make innovations. So often these don’t get off the ground because of lack of leadership, because after all, our response to change is significantly affected by how it’s introduced.D Brian MatthewsLeadership is about making things happen and beingjudged by results. Good ideas that go nowhere are a waste of time. Anticipate needs-those of customers for instance-and initiate action to meet those needs before the people concernedhave even recognized they’ve got them. That way you’ll always be ahead of the game, whateverline you’re in. For instance, top stockbrokers will learnall about you and your business and keep themselvescompletely up to date with your field in order to advise you. If they’re really good they ‘ll recognize trends even before you do .E Ana CostaOutstanding leaders understand both tactics and strategy, and are prepared to play a very long game to achieve their objectives. They understand that in negotiations they need the “ win-win” concept, because losers risk losing their dignity, which is no good for your long-term business relationship with them. Leaders must stay optimistic, whatever the odds, and keep up morale of their company, even when the going’s tough. It’s important to be very much。

2020年商务英语(BEC)初级口语试题及答案(卷九)

2020年商务英语(BEC)初级口语试题及答案(卷九)Every employee has five sources of power to draw from. Assess your potential power sources and use them to your advantage.1. Personal power is all about your charisma, your passion to achieve the strength of your convictions, your ability to communicate and inspire, and your leadership skills.2. Relationship power derives from the network of contacts and friends that you make, develop, and maintain at work; from coworkers who keep you up to date with the goings-on in their part of the organization, to executives who seek you out for special projects——and everyone in between.3. Position power is directly related to where you reside on your company’s organizational chart. Owners, presidents, and CEOs have plenty of position power, while receptionists, clerks, and laborers typically have little or none.4. Knowledge power is based on the special expertise and knowledge that you have of your job, your departments, or your organization.5. Task power is inherent in the jobs you are assigned at work. Some work is by nature more important to the health of the organization than others. For example, salespeople, whose job is to bring in money by selling its products or services, usually have high task power. You can leverage any source of power you have to build your base of power in another source.参考译文:每个雇员都有五种可以利用的权力资源。

MINI PRESENTATIONSSECTION 1 INTERVIEW (ABOUT 3 MIN)1.In this part of the test you are asked to give a short talk on a business topic. You have to choose one of the topics from the two below and then talk for about one minute. You have one minute to prepare your ideas. A WHAT IS IMPORTANT WHEN…? PICKING UP NEW CUSTOMERS IN THE AIRPORT PUNCTUALITY CLEAR BILLBOARD WARM WELCOME B WHAT IS IMPORTANT WHEN? LOOKING FOR A NEW JOB CAREER OPPORTUNITIES LOCATION POSSIBILITY OF MAKING BUSINESS TRIPS正确答案:A: I think three things are of great importance when picking up new customers in airport. First, punctuality, which means to arrive at the airport on time. Although people will understand if you are trapped in a traffic jam, punctuality is still expected. It’s not polite to keep the customers waiting. In my opinion, 5 to 10 minutes ahead would be better. Second, since the customers are new, it is necessary to prepare a clear billboard stating the name of the customers and their company. It makes sure that we won’t miss each other. Third, a warm welcome will help to establish friendship, which may in turn help to establish a new business relationship. Therefore, to show hospitality is also important when picking up new customers in airport. B: I think there are three points we should consider when looking for a new job. The first point is career opportunities. We’re about to make an important decision—one that will provide the best possible foundation for our future career and the right culture and environment for our ambitions, strengths and abilities. Also, we should think about the location of job.Sometimes it’s very boring if it is very time—consuming to go to work. At last, some people like taking business trips. So the possibility of making business trips is critical for one’s decision. 涉及知识点:口语SECTION 2 MINI PRESENTATIONS (ABOUT 6 MIN)In this part of the test you are asked to give a short talk on a business topic. You have to choose one of the topics from the three below and then talk for about 1 minute. You have 1 minute to prepare your ideas.2.In this part of the test the examiner reads out a scenario and gives you some prompt material in the form of pictures or words. You have 2 minutes to look at the prompt cards, an example of which is below, and then about two minutes to questions related to the topic. For 2 or 3 candidates Seenario I’m going to describe a situation. Your colleague is going to look for a good restaurant to entertain a client. Talk together for about 2 minutes about the things to be consideredin choosing a restaurant for a business meal and decide which three are the most important. Here are some ideas to help you. Prompt material Location Attentiveness Comfort Atmosphere Speed of service Quality of food Value for money service Recommendation from clients Follow-on questions Is entertaining clients important for companies?(Why?/Why not?) How important is the first impression of a client? How can we mix the business with pleasure? What kind of restaurant is a good place for a negotiatfon? Why do we have dinner with our clients?正确答案:A: When we have to choose a restaurant, we should ask ourselves several questions like “What is the location like? Was the atmosphere nice? “ As we all know, enjoying the relaxing atmosphere will facilitate one-to-one conversation. What are your views?B: I agree with you. First, I think we should take atmosphere into consideration. It is suitable to choose a quiet restaurant to talk about the business. Go where that the atmosphere is helpful to conducting a business. A: That’s right. And giving our clients a good impression is very important if we want to establish a harmonious business relationship between us. B: And second, location of restaurant. When location is an issue, choose a spot that is convenient for our guest. The client will be happy if we choose somewhere near his or her office. That will make the things much easier. And as for speed of service, of course, nobody likes to wait for a long time, don’t they? What do you think?A: Yes, that’s true. I have nothing to add really. So location, speed of service and atmosphere are the most important in looking for a good restaurant for a business dinner. Follow-on questions Yes, I think it important because visiting and entertaining are ways of establishing business relationship between companies. We’ll develop friendship and stimulate cooperation. First impressions are important. Because first impressions play an important role in making decisions. We need to exhibit good social skills when having dinner or going to the theater with clients. Be clear about your purpose and find a good timing to start to talk about your business. It’s a good idea to choose a restaurant with private facilities of semi-private facilities. Business meals are essentially business meetings. 涉及知识点:口语。

When we returned to school,my teacher told me to go to the headmaster ‘s office. When I got into the office,I saw a police officer. Suddenly I realized something was wrong. The police officer told me what had happened and we went to pick my sister up. After that,we went to the hospital and waited. Time went slowly. Finally,we got to see our mother. It was terrible. On the next day,the headmaster came and told my two teachers what had happened. I was taking a rest that day. I knew it had something to do with my mother.I kept thinking that she either died or had gotten better. How I wished that she had gotten better. When my teacher took me outside,my sister ran up to me. She started crying,“She‘s gone. Teresa, mommy’s gone. She‘s dead.”I couldn’t believe it. We jumped into the car and drove straight to the hospital. Most of myfamily were there. The silence was terrible. I knew I had to say goodbye.Today when I look back,I still miss my mother very much, but I know that I will live. My mother was a strong mother, who had the biggest heart. My mother was an angel walking on the earth. I will always remember her as living. When someone is asked who their hero (英雄) is,they usually say someone famous, like Michael Jordan or Britney Spears. When someone asks me who my hero is,I tell them,my mother. My mother lives every day. That is what makes her a true hero.根据以上短文内容,然后从每题所给的四个选项中选择最佳选项。

2020年剑桥商务英语BEC初级考试试题及答案 Questions 1 – 8Look at the sentences below and at the five managers’ comments on leadership on the opposite pageWhich new item (A, B, C ,D or E) dose each statement 1 – 8 refer to ?For each statement ! I have a pretty clear view o f my ideal business leader, and of course that’s where I ‘m trying to head: he or she should start up and grow a cash-rich, multi-interest international organization of tremendous strenngth and depth.B Sue TuckerThe pace of technological change, and the rate at which businesses are changing , requires leaders to have a particular aptitude for technology and an understanding of the internet. They have the confidence to be themselves, and not to adopt the language andattributes of the run-of-the-mill professional managers and accou ntants. Anticipate needs-those of customers for instance-and initiate action to meet those needs before the people concerned have even recognized they’ve got them. That way you’ll always be ahead of the game, whateverline you’re in. For instance, top stockbrokers will learnall about you and your business and keep themselvescompletely up to date with your field in order to advise you. If they’re really good they ‘ll recognize trends evenbefore you do .E Ana CostaOutstanding leaders understand both tactics and strategy, and are prepared to play a very long game to achieve their objectives. They understand that in negotiations they needthe “ win-win” concept, because losers risk losing their dignity, which is no good for your long-term business relationship with them. Leaders must stay optimistic, whatever the odds, and keep up morale of their company, even when the going’s tough. It’s important to be very much。

BEC商务英语初级阅读试题及答案分享1Trouble with TeamworkMary Owen examines the role and efficiency of teamsRecruiters say that candidates who can give examples ofwork they have done as members of a successful team are in asstrong a position as those who can point to significant individualachievement. Indeed, too much of the latter may suggest thatthe person concerned is not a 'team player' - one of the moreserious failings in the book of management. The importance of being a team player is a side effect of the increasing interaction acrossdepartments and functional divides. Instead of pushing reports, paperwork and decisions aroundthe organisation, 'teams provide a dynamic meeting place where ideas can be shared and expertisemore carefully targeted at important business issues,' says Steve Gardner, in his book KeyManagement Concepts. He adds, 'Globalisation has added a further dimension to teamwork.Multinational teams now study policy decisions in the light of their impact on the local market.' But is teamworking being overdone? 'Some managers are on as many as seven or eightdifferent teams', says Dr Cathy Bandy,a psychologist who recently ran a conference on thesubject. 'They take up so much time that managers can't get on with core tasks.' Forming teamsand having meetings has, she says, become an end in itself, almost regardless of purpose. There isalso the danger of an unhealthy desire to keep the team going after the work has been done. 'People feel the need to belong, and team membership can provide a kind of psychologicalsupport.' The idea behind teamworking is that, when the right group of people is brought together, a'force' develops which is greater than the sum of their individual talents. This is often true in sport, where good players can reach unexpected heights as members of an international team. However, few business situations have as clear a set of objectives, or as clear criteria of success orfailure, as winning a match.'In business, everyone needs to be clear about what the challenge is and whether a team isthe right way of approaching it', says Steve Gardner. 'Unfortunately, people focus instead on whothe members of the team should be and what roles they are to play' Dr Bandy agrees. 'There isalways a danger that teams can turn into committees,' she says. 'In a lot of situations, one or twoindividuals would be much more effective.'So what makes a successful team? There are some general qualities that have been identified.Steve Gardnerrecommends that in every team there should be someone who is good atresearching ideas and another who is good at shooting down impractical ones. There should bethose who can resolve the tensions that naturally occur in a team and others who are focused ongetting the job done. Also, providing a clear and achievable target at the outset is the best way ofensuring that the team will move on to greater things.13 What point does the writer make about teamworking at the beginning of the article?A It is the most successful form of management.B It has changed the recruitment procedure in companies.C Well-run teams still allow individuals to demonstrate their talents.D Being a team player is now considered an essential management skill.14 According to the article, teamwork developed within companies as a response toA modern office design.B changing work practices.C a reduction in administrative tasks.D the expansion of international business.15 In the third paragraph, Dr Bandy suggests thatA many employees do not enjoy working in teams.B some managers are not very effective team leaders.C some teams are created unnecessarily.D few teams are well organised.16 According to the writer, teamwork is more effective in the field of sport because the playersA know what they want to achieve.B are more competitive by nature.C have more individual talent.D can be driven by national pride.17 Steve Gardner and Dr Bandy agree that when a business team is created people do notpay enough attention toA the structure of the team.B alternatives to the team.C selecting the team members.D directing the team's activities.18 What is Steve Gardner's advice on operating a successful team?A Maintain a flexible approach to membership.B Allow personalities to develop within the team.C Select people who fit naturally into certain roles.D Make every effort to avoid conflict between members.参考答案及解析《Trouble with Teamwork》,团队合作的麻烦。

First, in the telecom industry, China's rapid development has had a large impact on the world telecom industry. According to Ministry of Information Industry (MII) statistics for the first half of 2003, China has the world's largest telecom subscriber base, with nearly 500 million fixed-line and mobile subscribers. Overall telecom operator service revenue grew 14 percent to US$50 billion in 2002, with over 98 percent of this revenue accounted for by the four major state-owned operators. In the cable TV industry, China has a rather unique history. Long considered part of the state propaganda apparatus, the State Administration of Radio, Film & Television (SARFT) has traditionally been responsible for both the production as well as the transmission of content. To de-politicize the business of video transmission. SARFT has been taking steps to separate the stations (i.e., content) from the net works in recent years. In the computer/Internet industry. China has developed rapidly. Traditionally heavily focused on hardware, to the relative neglect of software, China's computer industry has been exposed to international competition for quitesome time and has developed world-class domestic suppliers, in addition, China has over 50 million Internet users and Chinese is expected to become the most widely used language on the web within this decade.Lastly, in the electronics manufacturing industry, China has in recent years emerged as a manufacturing base, as significant portions of the supply/assembly chain (most notably in computer and telecom equipment) have moved to the PRC. China's electronics sector is ranked first among all of China's industries in terms of foreign investment attracted, export volume, industrial value added, and contribution to GDP growth.China's overall ICT industry can be viewed as growing very rapidly in many areas. Indeed, ICT constitutes a major area of China's overall growth. In the first quarter of 2003, China's overall industrial sector's industrial value-added grew by 17.2 percent year on year, compared to 10.9 percent growth a year earlier. Nearly one-third of that growth, or 5.8 points out of 17.2 percentage points of growth, came from two sectors: telecommunications and electronics.23.
