The flight took almost 4 hours but it went by super fast because I got to watch movies and playgames on the little TV screen on the airplane. As we came in for landing, I pressed my face against the window - Kunming is nicknamed the "City of Eternal Spring" because of its amazing weather and beautiful flowers everywhere. It kinda reminds me of a fairy tale kingdom!Our first stop was the famous Stone Forest, which is one of the most incredible natural wonders I've ever seen. We visited the incredible Mu Palace, an elegantcomplex of temples, bridges, and ponds that used to be home to the Naxi kings and queens.The last stop on our Yunnan adventure was Shangri-La, a beautiful region in the northwest part of the province up in the mountains near the borders of Tibet and Myanmar. That's where we saw the amazing Songzanlin Monastery, one of the few Buddhist monasteries from that area that survived the Cultural Revolution. It's this massive collection of shrines, halls, and living quarters all painted in bright golds, reds, and blues with intricate designs. We even got to watch the red-robed monks doing their evening chanting and praying. So peaceful and magical!Well, that was my incredible summer in Yunnan. We had so many other fun experiences too, like seeing cormorant fishing on the rivers, watching traditional ethnic dances, eating yummy local snacks, and just enjoying the beautiful nature.
