In recent years, the education system in China has been facing various challenges. One of the most prominent issues is the intense pressure on students to perform well in exams. This has led to a highly competitive and stressful learning environment, which can have negative effects on students' mental health.Another problem is the lack of creativity and critical thinking in the education system. The focus on rote memorization and standardized testing has hinderedstudents' ability to think independently and creatively. This is a significant obstacle to the development of a more innovative and entrepreneurial society.Furthermore, there is a disparity in the quality of education between urban and rural areas. Students in rural areas often have limited access to resources and qualified teachers, which puts them at a disadvantage compared to their urban counterparts. This contributes to the overallinequality in educational opportunities in China. Moreover, the rigid curriculum and teaching methods do not cater to the diverse learning needs of students. Many students have different learning styles and strengths, but the one-size-fits-all approach in education fails to address these individual differences. As a result, some students may struggle to keep up with the pace of the classroom. In addition, the emphasis on academic achievement has overshadowed the importance of holistic education. The focus on exam results has led to the neglect of other essential aspects of education, such as character development, moral education, and practical skills. This narrow focus on academic success may not adequately prepare students for the challenges of the real world. In conclusion, the education system in China is facing several significant challenges that need to be addressed. These issues include the pressure on students, the lack of creativity and critical thinking, the urban-rural educationgap, the rigid curriculum, and the neglect of holistic education. It is crucial to reform the education system to better meet the diverse needs of students and to cultivate a more well-rounded and innovative generation.。

China's Education System: Strengths and WeaknessesChina's education system is one of the most extensive and complex in the world, with a long history and a unique set of characteristics. As the world's most populous country, China's approach to education has had a significant impact on its economic and social development. In this essay, we will explore the strengths and weaknesses of China's education system. One of the primary strengths of China's education system is its emphasis on academic excellence. Chinese students are known for their exceptional performance in subjects like mathematics, science, and engineering, often outperforming their peers from other countries in international assessments. This focus on academic achievement is deeply rooted in the country's cultural traditions, which place a high value on education and intellectual pursuits.Another strength of the Chinese education system is its comprehensive infrastructure and resources. The government has invested heavily in building schools, universities, and educational facilities across the country, ensuring that students have access toquality education regardless of their geographic location. This has contributed to the high enrollment rates and the overall accessibility of education in China.Additionally, the Chinese education system is known for its emphasis on discipline, hard work, and perseverance. Students are expected to put in long hours of study, often with the support of their families and the broader community. This culture of diligence and dedication has been instrumental in producing a highly skilled and hardworking workforce, which has been a key driver of China's economic growth. However, the Chinese education system is not without its weaknesses. One of the primary criticisms is its overemphasis on rote learning and standardized testing. Students are often required to memorize large amounts of information and regurgitate it during exams, rather than developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This approach can stifle creativity and limit the ability of students to adapt to the rapidly changing demands of the modern workforce.Another weakness of the Chinese education system is its lack of flexibility and individualization. The curriculum is highly standardized, with little room for students to pursue their own interests or explore alternative learning paths. This can be particularly challenging for students with unique learning needs or those who do not fit themold of the traditional academic system.Furthermore, the intense academic pressure and the high-stakes nature of the education system in China can have negative impacts on the mental health and well-being of students. The constant pressure to excel academically can lead to high levels of stress, anxiety, and even depression among young people, which can have long-lasting consequences on their overall development and quality of life.Despite these weaknesses, it is important to acknowledge that the Chinese education system has also undergone significant reforms and improvements in recent years. The government has recognized the need to foster more creativity, critical thinking, and well-rounded development among students, and has implemented various initiatives to address these issues. For example, the introduction of more project-based learning, the incorporation of more diverse assessment methods, and the emphasis on developing soft skills like communication and teamwork have all been efforts to address the limitations of the traditional education system. Additionally, there have been increased investments in mental health support and counseling services for students, recognizing the importance of holistic student development. In conclusion, China's education system is a complex and multifaceted entity, with both strengths and weaknesses. While the focus on academic excellence and the comprehensive infrastructure have contributed to the country's economic and social progress, the overemphasis on standardized testing and the lack of flexibility have also posed significant challenges. As China continues to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of the 21st century, it will be crucial for its education system to strike a balance between academic rigor and the development of well-rounded, creative, and adaptable individuals who can thrive in the global landscape.。

China's education system faces numerous challenges. One of the major challenges is the pressure to excel academically. Students are constantly under immense pressure to perform well in exams and achieve high grades. This pressure often leads to a highly competitive and stressful learning environment.Another challenge is the lack of creativity andcritical thinking in the education system. The focus is primarily on rote learning and memorization, rather than encouraging students to think independently and creatively. This hampers their ability to solve real-world problems and adapt to changing situations. Moreover, the large class sizes in many schools make it difficult for teachers to provide individual attention to students. This hinders the learning process and prevents students from receiving personalized guidance and support. It also limits the opportunities for interactive andparticipatory learning experiences.Furthermore, there is a disparity in the quality of education between urban and rural areas. Urban schools often have better resources and facilities, while rural schools struggle with inadequate infrastructure and limited access to educational resources. This inequality in education opportunities creates a significant divide between students from different regions. In addition, the emphasis on academic subjects neglects the importance of holistic development. Extracurricular activities, such as sports, arts, and music, are often overlooked or given less priority. This narrow focus on academics deprives students of opportunities to explore their interests and talents in other areas.Another challenge is the lack of vocational education options. The education system primarily focuses on preparing students for university entrance exams, neglecting the need for practical skills and vocational training. This leads to a mismatch between the skillsrequired in the job market and the skills possessed by graduates.Furthermore, the traditional teaching methods and outdated curriculum fail to keep pace with the rapidly changing world. The education system needs to adapt to the demands of the 21st century, which include digital literacy, technological skills, and global awareness. Without these skills, students may struggle to compete in the global economy.Lastly, the pressure to conform to societalexpectations and follow a predetermined path in terms of career choices is another challenge. Students are often pushed towards certain professions, such as medicine or engineering, disregarding their individual interests and talents. This limits their potential and stifles their creativity. In conclusion, China's education system faces various challenges, including academic pressure, lack of creativity, large class sizes, regional disparities, neglect ofholistic development, lack of vocational education options, outdated curriculum, and societal expectations. Addressing these challenges is crucial to ensure a well-rounded and inclusive education system that prepares students for the future.。

中国的教育Chinese,Education英语作文篇一:中国教育体制的弊端的英语作文中国教育体制的弊端的英语作文the disadvantage of the education in China,Talking about the education form:take [sit for] an examination,I have something to say.First this kind of education is notscientific, because the real education should include many aspects: not only the cultural knowledge on books, but also the developing of the morality、character, they need the principle of behavior as a civial. The physical quality, the mental quality, are all needed to be developped during the education. The education should be overall. The simple "taking for exam' kind of education can only produce students with high marks and short of social ability and principle of behaviour. These kinds of youths cannot be a qualified human beings because they lack the human qualities and civilization, they are more likely to be robots without soul, only know earning money by anyway. These are not good for the society篇二:谈中国教育问题英语作文What’s wrong with the education in China?ProblemsWhen I was a little kid,I was very interested in English, history and math. And I learnt a lot of things from English cartoons and historical movies.Albert Einstein said,”Interest is the best teacher.”.I like acquiring knowledge that I am concerned about by myself. This situation changed when I was in senior one.At that time my English grade was good but I don’t like English class because my teacher always talked about grammar and vocabulary. One day I was asked to write down some new words on the blackboard.I can’t finish it beca use I didn’t preview. After calss my teacher had a chat with me.I said I did’t like the way that teachers teached me.My teacher said,”I don’t like this way either but we teachers have to because of college entrance examination. This is the thing that you can’t avoid. So you can’t do everything you like because you are a Chinese student.”After listening to her words,I realized I had to give up my interests and fought for a good college.Luckily I changed my mind so I can be in SEU,but unluckily we lost our int erests. Some students didn’t changed and they couldn’t enter a good college. However, can we said they are bad students?Of course not.To get better grade,I swam in the sea of physics instead of history because we didn’t learn it.We also had some things in sc ience that don’t need to learn because college entrance examination don’t check here.To be honest,I always fight for my grade, not interest.ReasonsMy purpose is not to attack college entrance examination. The reason that we have to lose our interests is eolment rate.Every senior high school aspires higher eolment rate so that they can get fame and earn more money.High schools compare with other schools. Also parents put pressure on teachers. If their children don’t get good grades, they will blame these on teachers. Our teachers have to make leaders and parents satisfied,so they put pressure on us.This situation that grade is everything is not someone’s fault.I don’t mean that we should cancel exams.Instead,Ithink college entrance examination is the most fair way to compete. Now adults ask children,”How is your grades?”,not”What have you learnt?”.This reports that it’s a social problem.SolutionsI think that the government should pay more for children’s education and gradually eliminate education area differences. For example,Tsinghua University’s lowest criterion of examination in Beijing is much lower in Anhui. That means Anhui students have to pay much more effort to achieve the same goal. Also, parents need to know that grade is not everything and we should learn many things not only books.I believe ,with the development of China, the education in China will become real “quality education”.篇三:中国教育之现状英文写作一、教育机会的不公1.近年来,由于城乡差距、地区差距以及地区内校际教育资源的差别引发的“择校热”愈演愈烈,不少家长宁可花重金择校,也要让子女挤进重点学校。

This article aims to highlight the key problems faced by China's education system and provide potential solutions to address these issues.Challenges in China's Education System1. Overemphasis on rote memorizationOne of the main criticisms faced by China's education system is its focus on rote memorization rather than cultivating critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. Students are often burdened with a heavy workload, leaving them little time for exploration and independent thinking. As a result, they struggle to think critically and apply knowledge beyond textbooks.Solution: Encouraging student-centered learningTo overcome this issue, it is crucial to adopt a more student-centered approach that emphasizes active learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Implementing project-based learning initiatives and allowing students to engage in hands-on activities can promote creativity and independent thinking.2. The gaokao (national college entrance exam) determineswhich universities students can attend, leading to an excessive focus on exam preparation rather than holistic development.Solution: Holistic assessment methodsImplementing holistic assessment methods that consider both academic performance and personal development can help alleviate the pressure on students. Universities should consider evaluating students based on their extracurricular activities, leadership skills, community service involvement, and other non-academic achievements alongside examination scores.3. Rural students face limited access to quality education due to inadequate funding, lack of qualified teachers, and limited technological resources.Solution: Educational reform in rural areasTo bridge this gap, the government should prioritize investment in rural education.

China's education system has been a topic of discussion and debate for many years. As one of the largest education systems in the world, it has its strengths and weaknesses. In this essay, I will discuss the current state of China's education system and provide my perspective on its strengths and areas for improvement.Firstly, China's education system is known for its emphasis on academic achievement and rigorous testing. The gaokao, or national college entrance examination, is ahigh-stakes test that determines a student's future. While this system has led to a high level of academic achievement and success for many students, it has also created aculture of intense competition and pressure. Students often spend long hours studying and preparing for exams, leading to high levels of stress and mental health issues. In addition, the focus on rote memorization and test scores has been criticized for stifling creativity and critical thinking skills. Many students are taught to memorize facts and formulas rather than to think critically and solve problems. This has led to concerns about the ability of Chinese students to compete in a global economy that values creativity and innovation.Another issue in China's education system is the disparity between urban and rural schools. While urban schools often have access to the latest technology and resources, rural schools struggle to provide a quality education for their students. This has led to a significant achievement gap between urban and rural students, perpetuating inequality and limiting opportunities for those in rural areas.Despite these challenges, China's education system also has many strengths. The country has made significant investments in education in recent years, leading to improvements in infrastructure and access to education. The government has also implemented reforms to reduce theemphasis on testing and promote a more well-rounded education for students. In addition, China has a strong tradition of valuing education and respecting teachers. Teachers are highly respected in Chinese society and are often seen as role models for their students. This has led to a high level of professionalism and dedication among Chinese educators. In conclusion, China's education system has its strengths and weaknesses. While it has led to high levels of academic achievement and success for many students, it also has created a culture of intense competition and pressure. There are also significant disparities between urban and rural schools that need to be addressed. However, the government's recent reforms and investments in education show promise for the future. With continued efforts to promote critical thinking and creativity, as well as to reduce inequality in education, China's education system has the potential to prepare its students for success in the 21st century.。

中国的教育(Chinas education)中国的教育(china’s education)some people believe that china’s education has paid too much attention to the examination score. as a result, it is very common that the students are always judged by their scores, and the decision for one’s promotion and study abroad is also made on the basis of the examination results. even teachers in middle schools and colleges have to teach the students that that will be tested, and students just want to learn what will be included in the exam. consequently, many students cannot well develop their ability.other people argue that the examination scores is still an important criterion in making a decision. for example, whether the students can go university or not should be decided by the score. whether a person should be given a chance to study abroad can be determined by the score. at present examination score is widely accepted as a fair means in decision-making.in my opinion, examination score is really important. if i cannot get enough score, i will not be able to receive the degree. but i do hope that examination score and one’s performance should be combined to evaluate one’s study and work. this might be fairer.。

Possible answer:China's education system has its advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, it has achieved remarkable progress in terms of enrollment, literacy, and achievement. On the other hand, it still faces challenges such as inequality, conformity, and overemphasis on exams.Firstly, the advantages of China's education system include the following:1. Access: China has achieved near-universal enrollment in primary and secondary education, thanks to the government's efforts to provide free and compulsory education for all. This has enabled millions of children, especially girls and rural students, to acquire basic knowledge and skills.2. Quality: China has made significant improvements in the quality of education, as evidenced by its rising scores in international assessments such as PISA and TIMSS. Thisis partly due to the emphasis on teacher training, curriculum reform, and educational technology.3. Diversity: China has a diverse range of educational institutions, from public to private, from academic to vocational, from urban to rural, from traditional to innovative. This allows students to choose the type of education that suits their interests and needs.Secondly, the disadvantages of China's education system are as follows:1. Inequality: China still has a significant gap in educational opportunities and outcomes between urban and rural areas, between coastal and inland regions, and between different social classes. This reflects the unequal distribution of resources, such as funding, teachers, and facilities.2. Conformity: China's education system tends to emphasize conformity and obedience over creativity and critical thinking. This is reflected in the rote memorization, rigid discipline, and standardized testing that dominate the classroom. This may stifle students' curiosity, imagination, and initiative.3. Pressure: China's education system puts a lot of pressure on students to achieve high scores in exams, especially the national college entrance exam (gaokao). This can lead to stress, anxiety, and even depression among students, as well as competition, cheating, and corruption among schools and parents. In conclusion, China's education system has bothstrengths and weaknesses, and there is no simple solutionto its challenges. However, by building on its achievements and addressing its shortcomings, China can strive for amore inclusive, innovative, and sustainable educationsystem that benefits all its citizens.

The Current Situation of Contemporary Education in ChinaIntroductionEducation is the cornerstone of a nation's development and progress. In contemporary China, the education system has undergone significant changes and reforms over the years. However, there are still several glaring shortcomings that continue to plague the system and hinder its effectiveness. In this essay, we will delve into some of the key deficiencies in the current state of education in China.Lack of Creativity and InnovationOne of the most prominent drawbacks of the Chinese education system is its strong emphasis on rote memorization and standardized testing. Students are often required to memorize vast amounts of information without truly understanding the concepts or developing critical thinking skills. This narrow focus on test scores can stifle creativity and innovation, as students are discouraged from thinking outside the box or exploring new ideas. As a result, many graduates lack the ability to solve complex problems, think critically, or adapt to new situations in the real world.Pressure and StressThe intense pressure to excel academically is a pervasive issue in China's education system. Students are under immense pressure from a young age to perform well in exams and secure a spot in a top-ranking university. This pressure can lead to high levels of stress, anxiety, and mental health issues among students. Many students report feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, and disillusioned with the education system. The focus on academic achievement above all else can also lead to a lack of social and emotional development, as students have little time or energy for extracurricular activities, hobbies, or personal relationships.Inequality and DisparityAnother significant challenge facing the Chinese education system is the growing disparity between urban and rural areas. Students in urban areas typically have access to better schools, resources, and facilities than their rural counterparts. This unequal distribution of educational opportunities can perpetuate a cycle of poverty and disadvantage, as students in rural areas are often unable to compete on a level playing field with their urban peers. The lack of quality education in ruralareas also contributes to the widening gap between the rich and the poor in China.Teacher Quality and TrainingThe quality of teachers in China's education system is another area of concern. While there are many dedicated and talented educators in the country, there is also a shortage of qualified teachers in certain subjects and regions. In addition, the training and professional development of teachers are often inadequate, leading to a lack of consistency in teaching quality and methodology across different schools and regions. Improving teacher training and support is crucial for enhancing the overall quality of education in China and ensuring that students receive the best possible instruction.ConclusionIn conclusion, while there have been significant improvements in China's education system in recent years, there are still several critical deficiencies that need to be addressed. The lack of creativity and innovation, the pressure and stress placed on students, the inequality and disparity between urban and rural areas, and the quality of teachers are just a few of the key challenges facing the system. It is imperative that policymakers, educators, and stakeholders work together toaddress these issues and create a more equitable, inclusive, and effective education system for all students in China. Only then can the country truly harness the potential of its young people and build a brighter future for generations to come.。

China's education

China's education

Before 1905 there were two kinds of schools in China: the official institutions (官学),which were open to children of the nobles, and the private schools (私塾),run by the local scholars, teaching students at home. The official schools began during the western Zhou Dynasty (11th century—770 B. C.), and were sponsored by the official constitution called Guanxue(官学, official institution). Only the children of the nobles were admitted into the schools. During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, the social contradictions became intense and there appeared hundreds of schools of philosophy contending for their theoretical position. As a result, the states allowed scholars to teach disciples, thus the private schools became popular. Great scholars such as Confucius, Mencious, Mo Zi and Han Fei all enrolled students. Take Confucius for example, he had three thousand students. Among them seventy were virtuous talents. This kind of learning was called Sixue (私学, private school), in contrast to the official kind, constituting an important part of school education in feudal China.

Educational challenges in China run deep and manifest in various forms, from a rigid and exam-oriented system to inadequate resources and inequitable access.Exam-Oriented System:China's education places an overwhelming emphasis on high-stakes exams, such as the Gaokao, which plays apivotal role in university admissions and career prospects. This narrow focus on rote memorization and test-taking skills stifles creativity, critical thinking, and holistic development.Inadequate Resources:Educational institutions in rural areas often face severe shortages of qualified teachers, modern equipment, and infrastructure. Libraries may lack essential materials, and classrooms can be overcrowded or dilapidated. These disparities limit students' access to quality education and exacerbate educational inequalities.Inequitable Access:Urban-rural disparities in educational opportunities persist. Students in urban areas have greater access to better schools, tutoring, and enrichment programs comparedto their rural counterparts. Additionally, the hukou system, which restricts migration, further limits educational mobility for rural students.Limited Inclusivity:China's education system often fails to cater to the needs of students with disabilities or diverse learning styles. Class sizes are typically large, and there is alack of individualized support for students who struggle. This exclusionary approach hinders the potential of many students. The Need for Reform:Addressing these challenges requires comprehensive reforms. China needs to shift away from an exam-oriented system towards one that emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation. Additionally, investments in teacher training, infrastructure upgrades, and equitable resource allocation are crucial. Furthermore, policies that promote inclusivity and break down barriers to educational access should be implemented.

英语作文——problems about China’s education and corresponding measures(中国教育问题及措施)

problems about China’s education and corresponding measuresAs known as we all, education is the foundation of a country. Education enables people to broaden their horizons and obtain a good job in the future. Moreover, it also has a significant impact on person's world outlook, outlook on life and values. However, the situation of China's education is not optimistic and it is imperative that matching measures and regulations be introduced and enforced to harness and control these urgent situations.Obviously, China's education generally has four big problems. The vital and first is the administrative education which has played a great role in the development of education in our country. Conversely, the system violates the regular pattern of the development education seriously, and this system has become an obstacle to the development of education in China nowadays. The second problem is that professional education is easy to neglect the training of students' ability. Professional knowledge constantly updated, expansion, students need to master the contents are more and more, and the teacher wants to teach them something more. In this case, the student will be confined to a professional field, the teacher teaches tired, students learn it hard. Besides, exam-oriented education for students' learning motivation is not worth badly. Long-term since, examination-oriented education makes students be trained with regularity as a" test machine" in the classroom, students are accustomed to passive acceptance not t think independently. These kinds of education enable students lack of innovation spirit, and through repeated practice they just get temporary memory. Finally is the teachers' moral standards. The phenomenon of abusing, insulting or otherwise maltreating student is not difficult find in our city and I consider it can bring a serie of negative effects. Were these situations to continue as it is, our future generation would not bother to think of excuse for us, we would pay the high price. So some reasonable measures as follows should be taken to solve these problems. Most imperative is abolishing the institution of administrative education. In addition, we should bring up children's conception of innovation and enterprising spirit. And what's more, we need to employ the teachers who have both ability and political integrity and improve thier wages and benefits.Only in a reasonable, prosperous and healthy education atmosphere can we hope to witness the ideal scene in which students can enjoy their life to the uttermost.。

Education is the foundation of a country's development. In recent years, China's education system has been facing a series of problems, which has attracted widespreadattention and concern from all walks of life. The problems include the excessive emphasis on exam-oriented education, the lack of creativity and practical skills among students, and the unequal distribution of educational resources.First and foremost, the overemphasis on exam-oriented education has become a major issue in China's education system. The intense competition for high scores in exams has led to a narrow focus on rote memorization and test-taking skills, leaving little room for the development of critical thinking and creativity. As a result, many students are unable to think independently and creatively, which hinders their ability to solve real-world problems and adapt to the rapidly changing global economy.Furthermore, the lack of creativity and practicalskills among students is another pressing problem inChina's education system. The traditional teaching methods, which prioritize the transmission of knowledge over the cultivation of practical skills, have failed to meet the needs of the modern society. Many students graduate from school with theoretical knowledge but lack the practical skills required in the workplace, leading to a mismatch between the skills they possess and the skills demanded by the job market. In addition, the unequal distribution of educational resources has exacerbated the disparities in the quality of education between urban and rural areas. In urban areas, schools are well-equipped with modern facilities and qualified teachers, while in rural areas, schools are often underfunded and lack basic resources. This inequality in educational resources has widened the gap between urban and rural students, making it difficult for rural students to compete on an equal footing with their urban counterparts. To address these problems, it is essential to reform the education system and promote a more holistic approach to education. First and foremost, the government should reduce the emphasis on exam-oriented education and encourage schools to focus on cultivating students' creativity, critical thinking, and practical skills. This can be achieved through the implementation of project-based learning, hands-on activities, and extracurricular programs that promote creativity and innovation.Furthermore, efforts should be made to bridge the gapin educational resources between urban and rural areas. The government should allocate more funds to rural schools, improve the quality of teachers, and provide equal access to educational resources for students in both urban and rural areas. In addition, vocational education should be promoted to provide students with practical skills and prepare them for the demands of the job market. In conclusion, China's education system is facing a series of problems, including the overemphasis on exam-oriented education, the lack of creativity and practicalskills among students, and the unequal distribution of educational resources. To address these problems, it is crucial to reform the education system and promote a more holistic approach to education. By doing so, China can ensure that all students receive a quality education that equips them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the 21st century.。

On the one hand, the Chinese education system has been successful in producing high-achieving students who excel in subjects such as math, science, and engineering. Additionally, the emphasis on academic rigor and discipline has instilled a strong work ethic in Chinese students, preparing them for the demands of the competitive global economy. On the other hand, the Chinese education system has been criticized for its heavy emphasis on rote memorization and high-stakes testing, which can stifle creativity andcritical thinking skills. “Why couldn't our schools bring up outstanding phenom s?”
——The Problems of China’s Education
As we all know, in 2005 by asking “Why couldn't our schools bring up outstanding phenoms?” Mr. Qian Xuesen(钱学森) raised the problems of China’s education.
First of all, his question focus on our basic education, which is known as a very exam-oriented education system. Raised in this environment, students have to sit for numerous tests, and the most typical one is our college entrance examination. To improve test score, teachers and parents concentrate on developing children’s skills to learn by rote and study for tests. As a result, we bring up lots of students with high scores yet low abilities.
Secondly, there are also problems with the appraisal system of China’s higher education. Our exam-oriented training renders students with very narrow vision. Most undergraduate students believe their priority in university is still test score, and postgraduates, even at PhD level, are only concerned about how many papers they can publish. Because they all see it as the only way to find well-paid jobs after graduation.
All those problems can be attributed to the reality of China’s large population and unfair distribution of educational resources. People struggle to survive in such a competitive environment. They take
education in a utilitarian perspective. But the fact is, education is a journey, not a destination.
Another reason is perhaps the influence of Chinese traditional values. According to Confucianism, the most important thing in life is not the truth but the good. People value harmonious relationships, instead of pursuit for truth.
Last but not least, the marketization of education is also a reason. In the past decades, not only our economy system is well marketized, people in China also embrace the market reform of our education. This creates many problems. One of the worst is that people reverse the order of purpose and process in education.
To put it simply, our dilemma to solve these problems is to find a balance between the selection function and the development function of education. Fortunately, nowadays people are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of quality-oriented education in basic education level, and liberal education or general education in higher education level.。
