Since I’m a football fan, I’d liketotalk aboutDavidBeckham, a successful football player. A lotof peopleknowhim not because he’s an excellent football player but because of his good looking. There willbe one challenger versus one hundred opponents at each show. Both the one and theonehundredwill begiventhesamemultiple-choicequestions. Onequestionisasked at a time, and the one hundred answer first, then it will be the one’s turn. Since the one is alone, duringthe show he/she is allowed to ask for help threetimes, including making a phone call, following the majority, or asking the presenter toeliminate one wronganswer. Eachtime, some of the one hundredwillbe eliminated if they get the answer wrong. Inthe end, if the one answers all thequestions correctly, the one will win the game and get a big amount of money as the prize. However, if the one fails, the money will be divided by the remaining opponents. Maybe because of the bigprize or the competitive atmosphere, theparticipants are always very excited. The reasonI like it is that this quiz show asks some simple questions that wea re supposedtoknow buta lotof people actually have never thoughtaboutthem. For example, one question asked was about the picture on the back of a 50 yuan RMB, but the majority of the one hundred got this simple question wrong. I have seen several shows, but I have never seen the one answered all the questions correctly. I began to wonder that maybe I could enter for the show, too, because I actually knew theanswers of a lotof their questions. I think itwill befunif I cantry.I want to tell youanadvertisement about a healthproduct called Naobaijin. It’ssucha famous advertisement that almost everybody inChina canrecite thelines of the advertisement. The advertisement is very simple. No matter in what styles they are built, as long as they are using the modern techniques and modern materials, they are mo dern buildings. Here, I’d like to talk about the Hangzhou grand theater, a very special modern building. Made of steel and galss, golden in color, it looks like a sun resting on the earth.Designed by internationally known Canadian architect, Hangzhou Grand Theatre covers 100,000 square meters with a total construction area of 55,000 square meters. Itconsists of anopera house, a concerthall, a multifunctionhall, anopen air stage and a culture square. The silky titanium roof symbolizes the pearl; the slant surface made of the double curved glass curtain wall represents the moon; a pool of over 6000 square meters in front of Hangzhou Grand Theatre stands for the beautiful West Lake.Located in the center of the building and looking like a U shape, the Opera House has altogether 1600 seats with red color as its basic tune. Designed as a classical shoe box, the concert hall has totally 600 seats with blue color as its basic tune. Breaking through the traditional mode, with 400 seats, lifts and chairs that can be turned up and down, the Multifunction Hall can achieve the flexibility of space arrangement according to specific requirements. With the performing stage surrounded by the seats, and the whole stagesurroundedby a water-pool witha total accommodationof 1000 people, theOpenAir Stage imitated ancient Roman classical style of architecture.Hangzhou grand theater is really a modern building, and a very special one.2. Describe a new lawWell, to provide a secured life for the public, every year the government ofChina is improving in its law system by updating those already existed ones or by issuing new ones. Here, I would like to talk about a new law that was just in practice inJanuary 1st this year. It is about the regulations onadvertisements onTVs and Radios. For a time in the past, there are great varieties of advertisements on TVs and radios, but due to lack of proper management and supervision, there exist a lot of misleadingor unhealthy advertisements, whichexert a negative influence onthegeneral public. And therefore, in January 1 st, this new regulations were called into practice. In this new law, it does not allow any misleading advertisements, or advertisements that containunhealthy information, suchas violence, pornography, disgusting pictures, unhealthy life attitude. Also, it does not allow any advertisements about cigarettes, and those about liquors are limited to a largerextent. In addition, it also regulates about the timing, the periods about the advertisements.Inthis way, this new law tends to provide the public a muchhealthier living environment. Andfromits practice over the past months, the public, especially thechildren, do have a much better exposure of information from TV and radio programs. I do hope that more and more news laws that are intended to improve our life are issued in the future.3. Describe a TV presenterWell, there are somany different TV programs onshow everyday indiversified channels; hence there are thousands and thousands of TV presenters we can see. Some may leave us a very deep impressionwhile others may not leave a thinginour mind. Here, I’d like to talk about the TV presenter I love, Wuzongxian, although others may have a mixed feeling about him.Beinga TV presenter in Taiwan, Wu started his career in the field of varietyshows inthelate1980s, andthenhebecamefamous becauseof his uniquestyleofhosting TV programs and therefore the TV programs he hosted are constantly ahead in the ratings. All these earn him the top salary among those TV presenters inTaiwan, beingthe local kingfor many years. In2008, he evenwonthe GoldenBell Awards in television industry. His fast reaction and tactfulness in hosting is among the first class, second to few others, and gradually, he formed his own style of hosting TV programs. Because he likes to use those popular words on the internet, and his figure is not like other middle-aged men, he is quite popular among the young audience. However, he alsolikes toriponpeople, openthe yellow gun, speak nonsense, anddisrespect women, which, meanwhile, bring him a lot of criticisms. Thanks to the change of the criteria of assessment,Wu was nominated t hree times for the best TV presenter in 2006,2007 and 2008, and successfully won the golden bell award in 2008 with the popular program uess, gues s,This is also the best affirmation to him. When I feel stressed, and in my spare time, I like to watch the program he hosts, I like to enjoy the relaxationand laughout my pressures by seeinghimonthe screen. He is really a great TV presenter in my mind.4. Describe an artistWell, youknow, whenwearepursuinga morefashionablelife, various kinds ofarts are being created. However, compared to the achievements and levels of those artists in our history, it is hard to find out one who is more outstanding. Therefore, to describe an artist, I would like to talk about Qi baishi. One of the ten top artists in the 20 th century in China, and also well-know through out the world.I became to know him when I was in the middle school, when my father, one day, came back home very excitedly, because he successfully got one painting of Qibaishi. However, a week later, my father was disappointed because the painting turned out to be a fake. Later, I am quite interested in gathering all possible information about this artist and his art works.Under his brush, eachflower, bird, fishand evenaninsect is amazingly vivid, while the hills, the waters and the figures are all perfect, showing the wisdom and philosophy of life and thus moving the readers directly. In his 80s, he was especially famous for his talents in drawing shrimps. He was so hard working that in his life time, he had produced more than 30000 paintings and 3000 poems. He is a great artist because of his profound achievement in the filed of paintings, calligraphies, poems and seals, because of his combinationof the folkart and traditional art, because of his integrationof paintings from the life and paintings with freehand. I really admire him.Well, you know, in my childhood, I was really a naughty boy and I did a lot of naughty things, suchas breakingthe neighbor’swindows because of my poorfootball skills, beatingother people’spetdogs tosee thembark aroundthe yar d, disguisingmyself as ghosts to scare other children, andsoon. Evennow whenIrecall those naughty things, smiles may still arise onmy face. But here, I wouldliketo talk about a naughty thingI did to my grandfather, because inthe end I was praisedbecause of my badbehavior.5. naughty thingsWhenI was 9 years old, it was the first summer holiday that I hadas a student,my parents sent me to the countryside to live with my grandpa, coz they were too busy to take care of me inthe daytime. Not like many other grandpas who mayspoil their grandchildren, my grandpa was quite demandingonme. Youknow, Iwas only 9 years old, but during that summer holiday, he often asked me to go to the farmland with him to do the farming, even in the hot sunshine. And so I tried my best to avoid doing the labor. One day, together with my grandpa, we planted corns inthe filed. My grandpa was ahead, diggingholes for me to cast the cornseeds inside. And he worked so hard that he dug the holes faster than I could sow the seeds. Inorder to work less and try to finishthe work quickly, I sowed muchmore seeds thanwere needed for one hole, and soonwe ranout of cornseeds. Althoughthere were still a lot of holes vacant, we had to finishthejob and wentback home. Yeah, notenough seeds. AndI felthappy because my grandpa didn’tfind out my trick. Several weeks later, the cornplants sprouted. Insome places, there were only a few, but in others, there were a lot. And I was not aware that my trick would be discovered later when they grew out. Luckily, it happened that year we met a drought, and those sprouts did not grew well, even some of them died. My grandpa then divided some of the sprouts from those spare ones and planted theminto those vacant holes. You know, my grandpa did not blame me for mytrick, but praised about my “contribution”. He said: thank you boy, it is you that we could grow those corns so well in the field”.Well, my naughty behavior turned out to be a contribution. It was the onlytime that I got praise for my naughty behavior. Evennow whenI think about it,it’sstill a funny memory.6. Describe a good teacherEveryone may have many teachers intheir life. Some may be helpful to him, while others may not. Here I would like to talk about my head teacher in my high school, Mrs. Hu. She is a middle aged womaninher forties. She has a very cuteface and friendly to others. Everyone likes her at first sight.Mrs. Hu is very responsible for us. Every time when students in her class have troubles, she would be the first one there to offer help, so she is very busy andhave less time to stay with her family. She is very skillful inher teachingand management of the class. She knowshow toteachthosenaughty boys, how toarouseour interests inlearning, andhowto unite our class together. Being one of her students, we all feel proudShe is very professional in teaching knowledge to students. She teaches politics in the high school, and it seems that she knows a lot about the situation in china and in the world. She likes to teach the knowledge by telling us stories and her own analysis. This helps us greatly in understanding the knowledge and remembering the facts. She is really a good teacher, friendly, responsible, skillful and professional. We all loveher.Getting away from traffic for sake of healthWe city-dwellers already know about the extra risks we face from heart disease and suddencardiac arrest linked to air pollution. Describe a famous comic actor in your country. You should say:who the person is;which film or program he or she acted in;what role he or she acted;and explain why you like him or her.
一旦成名了,明星就变成各大媒体追逐的对象了become the focus of the media, 然后动不动就会上个头条什么的(often) make the headlines。
因此his vivid/faultless/superb performance 就可以派上用场,或者his diligence helped him earn his fame,还有modest attitude & spirit of persistence等等。
对于喜剧演员,起码要做到make audience can't help laughing/make somebody laugh to tears/ roar with laughter。

OK, I’m gonna talk about the South Africa president- Zuma. There was a time I saw a video of him speaking in public, you know how English is not his first language, but the thing is, he has always wanted to try to speak it. It literally took him half a minute to say the word s ‘in the beginning’. He tried so many times and still couldn’t pronounce it. The best part is that every time he failed saying it, he would wiggle his body to defuse the embarrassment. Every single time I saw this video, I would laugh till my belly hurt.Generally speaking, we would expect the leader of a country to be more serious, you know, at least practice the speech or have a translator with you for the important occasions like that. But the way he behaves, is just very endearing. It's absolutely more fascinating than those who follow the conventional way of delivering a speech. 扭动3. defuse the embarrassment 化解尴尬4. laughed till my belly hurt 笑到肚子疼5. fascinate v.
I’d like to talk about Yuan Longping, a Chinese agriculture scientist and educator who developed the first hybrid rice varieties about 40 years ago, so the Chinese media sometimes calls him the Father of Hybrid Rice.As far as I know, he was born in an era of wars, so he moved with his family and attended school in many places during his childhood. He first came up with the idea of developing the hybrid rice when a series of natural disasters struck China, which caused unprecedented deaths. After years of research, his team successfully cultivated a type of hybrid rice species that had great advantages over common ones. Due to his hard work and devotion, China’s total rice output rose dramatically, which solved the biggest problem in China back then. And this hybrid rice has been grown in dozens of countries in Africa, America and Asia, which saved millions of people who suffer from famine. And right now he’s working on the research and development of genetically modified food, hoping to benefit more people. So as you can see, without him, China wouldn’t be able to feed its people in the poverty-stricken areas. When natural disaster strikes, people no longer have to starve, feeling desperate. That’s why I think his job is really important to our society. I’d like to talk about Hayao Miyazaki, who’s a world-renowned Japanese film director, producer, screenwriter and animator. He’s a masterful storyteller and he has attained international acclaim as a manga artist. One of his animated films Spirited Away became the first anime film to win an American Academy Award. His films often have profound themes, like humanity’s relationship with nature and technology.I think his job is really important to the society because his films inspired people in different generations. He created a magic world for both adults and children, in which people believe in love, compassion and friendliness. I strongly believe that this has a positive effect on his audience’s attitude toward life, especially for children during their formative years. The main characters in his films are always strong, independent girls, many of whom have been regarded as role models.Miyazaki has become a household name and his movies are well liked around the world. So I think the positive energy from his work can have a long-lasting effect on the society. Describe a popular personYou should say:Who the person isWhat kind of person he or she isWhy you think this person is popularHow this person influences the publicDescribe afamous person in your country.who this person ishow you know this personwhat this person is famous forand explain why you like this person今天,小编将为大家展示一个famous到一定程度的人物,Steve Jobs(乔布斯), 以此介绍一下整道题的思路以及常用表达:Steve JobsWho this person is怎么开始part 2的描述? Now I want to describe...to you. When it comes to a famous person I take interest in, the first person that comes to me is...或者I would say Steve Jobs is my idol/icon(崇拜的人)。
1. What leisure activities are popular in China?2. What leisure activity do young people like?3. Do leisure activities have to be educational?4. Do men and women like different leisure activities?范文:1. What leisure activities are popular in China?Well, in China, men and women relax in different ways. For most men, playing poker or chess witha couple of friends on the weekend is a fun way to pass time. And as far as I know, many men alsogather up to drink beers after work. Well, for girls though, we like to meet up for some yummystreet snacks or go shopping together. Older women enjoy square dancing after dinner. But havingsaid that, most young people, girls and boys, also hit leisure spots like the KTV to enjoythemselves. So yeah, these are common activities that we do in spare time.2. What leisure activity do young people like?Ah, as I just mentioned, the young generation loves to hang out in the KTV to sing and drinktogether. Apart from that, it’s trendy among young people to go backpacking. Yeah, well, we thinkit’s cool to be a backpacker, and crash in a backpacker’s hotel seems an attractive option for usto meet new people, from different parts of the world. I myself have done that a few times. Mylatest trip was to Thailand. It was so much fun! However, there are also some young people whoprefer to stay at home doing some quiet activities, like surfing online, or chatting and makingconnections on social apps.3. Do leisure activities have to be educational? Not necessarily, I’d say. I mean, leisure activities are supposed to help people wind down. Youknow, to relieve people from the hectic or even stressful life for a bit. So I don’t see the point tomaking them educational. There are certain activities that are indeed educational though, such assports activities which can teach people about cooperation and team spirit. And I do think it’s agood idea to engage children in such activities. So they could learn something meaningful anduseful, while they enjoy themselves. However, that doesn’t mean all leisure activities should beeducational.4. Do men and women like different leisure activities?Yeah, yeah, definitely. Men generally prefer more active activities, such as basketball or football. Iguess it’s because being engaged in those activities, they could not only bond with their mates, but also to build their muscles. You know, one stone, two birds! Besides, many men, teenagers oradults, enjoy playing computer games. Well, I suppose most girls wouldn’t think it’s fun to sit infront of a screen all day long. Girls generally would go for activities like Yoga to shape their body,or hang out in shopping centres. Yeah, do some girl things, you know.2022雅思口语题目及范文2题目:1. When will the children tell a lie?2. What should parents do when their children tell lies?3. Are there any situations that are not suitable to tell the truth?范文:1. When will the children tell a lie? Most parents think children lie to get something they want, avoid getting caught or get out ofsomething they don’t want to do. These are common motivations, but there are also some lessobvious reasons. If the kids get a new idea, they might wish to test it out and see what happens.Under such circumstances, the kids lie. In some other conditions, they lie to gain self-esteem andapproval, because maybe the lie can make them look good and seem more impressive. And ofcourse, there are times that the kids need to tell white lies, for example, to sparesomeone’sfeelings. Telling lies is inevitable, but we should teach the kids to be an honest person as much asthey can.2. What should parents do when their children tell lies?I think parents have to deal with lying the way a cop deals with speeding. If you’re going too fast,he gives you a ticket. He’s not interested in a lot of explanations from you. He’s just going to giveyou a consequence. Look at it the same way with the child. He didn’t tell the truth, whether thetruth was distorted, omitted or withheld. There should simply be consequences for that. The firsttime he lies, he goes to bed an hour early. The second time, he loses his phone. It should besomething that the kid feels.3. Are there any situations that are not suitable to tell the truth? In situations where the person will not grow from hearing the truth but only be hurt by it. There isthe classic example of “do I look fat in this dress?” In this case, it’s bad, not because they look fator otherwise, but because they feel like it matters. It doesnt. They’re beautiful regardless. If youfind out your friend is being cheated on, and you know this for certain, should you tell? Your friendmay be devasted, yes, but in the long run you know that their significant other doesn’t deservethem and they will be better off knowing the truth sooner rather than later.2022雅思口语题目及范文3题目:1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of taking photos with smart-phones?2. Do you think photographers are artists?3. What are the benefits of learning painting for children?4. Can anyone become a famous artist through hard work?范文:1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of taking photos with smart-phones?Indeed smart-phones have some merits when taking photos. You see, it is convenient. A phone isso portable that you can take it with you at about all times. So you can take a picture with itanytime you want. Plus, compared to a professional camera, a smart-phone is relativelycheap. Most people can afford using it to take photos. However, on the downside of it, mobile phonesoften have low pixel. It’s hard to gethigh-quality photos on a mobile phone. So if you demand thephoto quality, maybe go with the professional camera.2. Do you think photographers are artists?Yes, why not? Photography itself is a form of art. It takes some knowledge of the aesthetics totrain oneself to grasp the beautiful moment at the perfect time. And you do also need photographytechniques, like taking the right shooting angle, using the right mode, and looking for the suitablescene. The whole process is not an easy task. I imagine it would take quite a bit of time and effortto finally come out with photos of desirable effects. Given the hard work that a real photographerhas to take on, I think it’s fair to say that they equal to any other artists in our society.3. What are the benefits of learning painting for children?Children are natural painters. I mean, for children, painting is about the most common way toexpress themselves. If they are encouraged to paint, basically they are given the opportunity todevelop and nourish their imagination. In the long run, this will do great good to their mentaldevelopment. Not only that, painting can help children concentrate. Children are active, oh, actuallysome children are too active that they can’t even sit down for five minutes. But painting requiresthem to focus and be quiet. When they are immersed in painting, they will naturally develop theirconcentration skills.4. Can anyone become a famous artist through hard work?Well,to be an artist certainly requires a tremendous amount of hard work. Only if you arededicated to what you do can you achieve the best results, isn’t it so? But that being said, to be afamous artist like Van Gogh does demand natural gifts. You can’t imagine a painting like TheStarryNight came only from hard work, can you? I mean, a painting like that is something genius. It takes inspiration. I’m afraid that’s not something that a person like you and I can sit down toaccomplish. So can we become a well-known artist through hard work? Well, it’s possible, but notprobable.2022雅思口语题目及范文4题目:1. What’s the difference between teachers nowadays and those in the past?2. What’s the difference between being taught by teachers and being taught by AI?3. What’s the difference between private schools and public schools?4. What’s the difference between international schools and other schools?范文:1. What’s the difference between teachers nowadays and those in the past?I think in today’s world, a teachers’ job has become much more difficult. That’s mainly becausemany children today are spoiled at home. Teachers must basically provide supervision as well ascare 24/7. Take my mother as an example, she is a middle school teacher. She worries about herstudents all the time, and her phone is available for her students at all times. Besides, she keeps intouch with all the parents, just in case of emergencies. But when she was a student herself, herteachers were only responsible for teaching and her parents had never even met her teachers.2. What’s the difference between being taught by teachers and being taught by AI?That’d be quite different, I imagine. As a person, we ought to interact with another human beingwhen it comes to education. Simply because an experienced human being can show us how tobehave according to the social code. Therefore children will grow up making their own social netsmore easily. We are social animals after all. However, if we leave children to the AI, they willprobably only have access to knowledge. Yet a successful human being needs much more thanjust knowledge. So yeah, in the education system, I think AI should only be complementary toteachers.3. What’s the difference between private schools and public schools?Ah, firstly, private schools are expensive. As far as I know, in many countries, public schools arefree. The government pays for children’s education. However, if you send your children to a privateschool, the tuition alone would cost a fortune, let alone other expenses, such as the extra fees forputting your children on a swimming team for training, etc. But having said that, we can’t deny thatmost private schools do provide better facilities, as well as more qualified faculty members. Yeah, well, most private schools have high criteria when it comes to hiring teachers.4. What’s the difference between international schools and other schools?I think both the international schools and other public schools have their own positive side. Publicschools might have seemed unqualified for some people, but they are helpful for families with alower income, because international schools are too expensive for them to afford. On the otherhand, for international schools, their educational concept is different. Their students don’t need tostudy every detail by-heart and memorize it. They will be able to sit for exams very well even ifthey only understandthe idea of the studies. International schools put more efforts into trainingtheir leadership and way of thinking, while in the public schools, children learn the rudimentaryknowledge, and enter the next level of education by studying hard.2022雅思口语题目及范文5题目:1. Why should we keep parks clean?2. Why is it necessary to have parks?3. Why is walking on grass forbidden?范文:1. Why should we keep parks clean?Well, parks are public avenues that hold many people. They are also leisure places where peoplewant to spend quality time with their friends and family. So of course, parks should be cleanedregularly. Actually, the council usually have janitors on duty every day in the park. Apart from that, people are now aware of the importance of keeping parks clean, so they don’t throw rubbisheverywhere. The government has also set up many rubbish bins in the park to help keep the parkclean and tidy. Yeah, I think that’s the main reason why we need to keep the park clean.2. Why is it necessary to have parks?Well, as I said, parks are public leisure spots in the city where citizens can relax. You know howbusy life in the city can get. I think we really could use a place to enjoy ourselves, you know, to getaway from the bustling urban life for a while. Besides, parks offer a patch of green topeople. There are often artificial lakes, artificial mountains, and gardens in the park. When we live in a citythat is filled with skyscrapers, asphalt roads, and bustling people, it’s important that we also get achance to be close to nature. I guess that’s why we need parks in the city.3. Why is walking on grass forbidden?Yeah, well, even kids know that we should not walk on the grass today. Essentially, it’s becausewalking on the grass will hurt the grass, of course. And we need that greenness that the grass canoffer. We can’t afford losing it. The other thing is that, grass is public property nowadays. If wetrash the grass, then we are technically trashing the public property. I suppose that is consideredrude behavior in most countries. So yeah, we were all taught to protect grass since the day wewent to school.2022雅思口语题目及范文(part3)文章到此就结束了,欢迎大家下载使用并丰富,共享给更多有需要的人。
1、Describe a new lawWell, to provide a secured life for the public, every year the government of China is improving in its law system by updating those already existed ones or by issuing new ones. Here, I would like to talk about a new law that was just in practice in January1st this year. It is about the regulations on advertisements on TVs and Radios. For a time in the past, there are great varieties of advertisements on TVs and radios, but due to lack of proper management and supervision, there exist a lot of misleading or unhealthy advertisements, which exert a negative influence on the general public. And therefore, in January 1st, this new regulations were called into practice. In this new law, it does not allow any misleading advertisements, or advertisements that contain unhealthy information, such as violence, pornography, disgusting pictures, unhealthy life attitude. Also, it does not allow any advertisements about cigarettes, and those about liquors are limited to a larger extent. In addition, it also regulates about the timing, the periods about the advertisements. In this way, this new law tends to provide the public a much healthier living environment. And from its practice over the past months, the public, especially the children, do have a much better exposure of information from TV and radio programs.I do hope that more and more news laws that are intended to improve our life are issued in the future.2、Talk about a successful foreign personThere are many successful people in the world. Since I’m a football fan, I’d like to talk about David Beckham, a successful football player. A lot of people know him not because he’s an excellent football player but because of his good looking. Especially a lot of women, they regard him a s a big sport star. But that’s not the reason I admire him. I think he’s a successful man because he works hard and never gives up.As a young player, he was blamed for his mistake that caused the failure of his national team in the 1998 world cup. A lot of people laughed at him, but he was not defeated and tried harder than before. In 2001, his score helped his national team to win the game against Greece, which enabled them to enter world cup in the next year. He became a national hero overnight.I learned a lot from him. Sometimes, we might fail once or several times but it doesn’t mean we will never succeed. It’s always good to keep trying. I believe hard work will eventually make a big difference.3、Talk about a piece of equipmentI’d like to talk abou t a piece of advanced equipment in my home, an air conditioner. My parents bought it in a department store when I was sixteen years old to replace the old one.I think it is interesting to use this equipment, just like magic. Because when we use it, it can change hot air to cold air. When we are cold, we also get warm by using it. I can’t imagine what our life will be if we don’t have it.Of course we don’t use it all the time. Because when in spring or autumn, the weather is very comfortable, it isn’t nece ssary to use it. If we use it all the time, it is not environmental friendly. Also, it is not good for our health if we stay in anair-conditioned room for a long time. When I feel very hot or cold outside, I will miss my air conditioner.4、Describe a toy you likeI want to describe a toy in my childhood. Actually, it was not a girly toy. It is a model car. When I was a kid, I acted like a boy and I was very interested in car models and guns. But my mother didn’t know that and she bought many dolls for me. T o tell you the truth, my father found that I liked model cars, so he bought me one as a little present. It’s as big as a book and the color was very brig ht, it was red. I think the carwas cool and I liked it very much. I would always take it out and study it. I figuredout many functions of the car. I felt it was amazing that people could invent this tool for transportation.Since it was the gift that my father gave me, I kept it very carefully. Even now, it still looks like a brand new car. I think it’s very meaningful for a kid to own something that they like.5、Describe a type of entertainment you likeThe entertainment I would like to see is a Broadway play, like those famous ones from New York. I've heard that The Phantom of the Opera is a famous one that is well worth seeing. Well, I guess I might need to go all the way to America to see one, but I have a feeling that there will one day be a grand performance in Beijing. Why not? You don't need that much English to be able to enjoy it, and Beijing certainly has the facilities. Perhaps it will come soon. The basic features of these plays are incredible voices-I mean to sing like they do is not easy, and I know many famous signers and actors from America have tried but failed. Also they need to be graceful in their actions and decent at acting. These kinds of plays are usually visually very stunning, I mean a lot goes into making the setting wonderful. I heard for example that in The Phantom of the Opera there is a giant chandelier that comes crashing onto the stage, but that it is actually just a technical stunt. I think the reason I would like to see this is because I prefer seeing acting live and on stage. Also, I love singing, and I think if I were to see such a play it would stick in my mind for quite some time.6、Describe how to use a communication toolThe tool I will give you instructions about is the mobile phone. I will just assume that you've never used one before. The first thing you should do is turn it on and check the battery level, and then the volume level. Well, see if it has enough battery. Wait for it to register. What I meanby register is that the picture screen should come up and then the main menu. You see, a mobile phone is really like a computer, so it needs its main menu before you starthitting any buttons. When you feel it is registered, dial the number. Remember that you need to key in 010 if you are phoning a home number, but if not, that is to say the number is also another mobile phone number, then key in the number directly. Check to see that the number you dialed is the same one you intended to dial. It will appear on the mobile phone screen. After that press the green button and wait. Finally, after finishing your conversation, press the red button. When you are talking, you need to put the phone close to your ear. You should also adjust the volume, but that you can do even before the call. Also, make sure that you put it on lock, but we do that after we hang it up Remember to hang up the phone and recharge it.7、My favourite story is The Rickshaw Boy. I read this story about five years ago, and I liked it so much that I read it perhaps three more times. The author of this story is the famous Lao She, and this book is so famous that it has been translated into many languages, including English.Basically, the story is about the living conditions of rickshaw drivers in Beijing. It's kind of a social critique of the way people were during that time. The story is a bit complex, so I won't go through the plot but you do get a sense of the injustice and hardships suffered by people before liberation. The main character. is a man who had many dreams and ambitions as a youth, but lost them along the way. His life is thus a kind of struggle for survival and a challenge to reconcile his lost ambitions.I like this story best because it's full of sympathy for ordinarily folk. Sometimes I feel we need to take a closer look at the conditions of people in our lives. You know, I guess you could say I came from a wealthier side of society, and it's so easy to ignore the conditions of people who are not so lucky as yourself. Also, this book reminds us how far our society has progressed. We still have rickshaw drivers and poor folk, but not nearly as many as during the time Lao She was writing. People's lives are better now, but we haven't yet reached the ideal state yet, so we had better look after each other and treat each other as brothers and sisters.8、Talk about a favourite class you likeMy favourite class that I took was a class I took about five years ago. The class was on International Trade and Marketing for an International Market. I was a second-year student at university and I was eager to begin to specialize in my field. You see at that time I had all these ideas about how I could get rich by selling Chinese-made products to the west. You know, I think there are a lot of people who have the same dream that I did. My thinking was that what I could sell wasn't available in the west, so international marketing would just be about telling the world about it, and then waiting for the money to come in.In this course we had a professor who was not only knowledgeable from a theoretical standpoint, he also had a lot of practical knowledge, since he used to work for a Chinese company who sold products in America. He lived in America and supervised the efforts of the marketing department, so he had a rich knowledge of the kinds of things that can go wrong when you're trying to market to people from adifferent market. He told us how some Chinese executives would choose certain clients over others only because they were willing to make advance payments, but that in fact the clients who wanted better .credit terms were actually more profitable clients. He said it was natural for executives to favor clients who paid early in China, but that in the west where credit was the norm most clients thought it quite normal to pay over long periods of time. He said that some clients took advantage of this mindset to try and squeeze lower prices out of his company. The style was completely anecdotal. By that I mean he just told stories. He tried to organise these stories as they related to the theory, and they tended to make sense from a practical way of looking at the issues. He also gave us a lot of humorous examples of cultural differences along the way. But he also told us that people are people wherever they come from, and he even told us how he exported products to places like Rwanda and how similar they were to us in many respects. It was my favourite because it taught me what issues to think about before setting up any international trade. More than just knowledge it also helped me to understand the issue of culture better, and this was very relevant to me since I am planning to go overseas soon.9、Describe your habits for going out to eat.I think this is a good topic for me because I'm always eating out. The truth is that I don't like doing too much cooking, so I need to get out quite often-maybe twice a week. I will usually go with my wife but sometimes with a group of people from work. To tell you the truth, I try to avoid the dinner parties that have lines of beer bottles and rice wine because I know the conversations will just get sillier and sillier. My favourite dishes are seafood dishes, and I don't like my food to be so spicy. I prefer Cantonese-style dishes, which emphasize lighter seasoning and mixed vegetables. The best places to find these kinds of dishes are in specialty Cantonese restaurants, because if you try to get people to cook it up north, you may find yourself quite disappointed with the way they cook it.The reason I like these kinds of restaurants is because I'm originally from Guangzhou, so I've never really changed my eating habits. In fact, I still clean all my glasses with tea before I'll even drink out of a cup. Seafood dishes and restaurants are a little more expensive, but the food is nutritious, and there're so many different ways that Cantonese people cook food. You know, beyond just the food, I think it's also important to have good service. Sometimes you will find in some of these really big restaurants the waiters and waitresses are so busy that they have no time to serve you well. I like restaurants that have waiters and waitresses who come to you even before you need them. For instance, one good example is the tea. A good restaurant will have waiters and waitresses that are continually checking your tea supply and filling it up.、10、Describe a gift that you have receivedRight, well the best gift I have received was my father's pocket watch. He gave it to me on my birthday. You see, I know my father is not wealthy and he wanted to give me something important even though he didn't have to. He always loved thiswatch. I know this, because I remember one day when the watch wasn't working properly. Well, he was in quite a panic, because, he told me he felt like he was carrying around a sick baby in his belt.I always wondered what was so special about the watch. It seemed so funny to me, especially as I was growing up. Everyone else was buying those digital wristwatches, and his watch seemed like something out of the past. So I wondered if it might be an antique or a famous watch. My mother didn't say much to me, but she did tell me once that the watch wouldn't fetch much more than a few RMB if it were sold, but that my father might even kill or die to protect that watch. You know, after my father died about a year ago, I asked my mother about the pocket watch. I had mainly kept it in my drawer but after he died I felt like I needed to know about this watch. My mother told me it was a watch my grandfather wore as well. You see my grandfather was killed in the war between Japan and China, and all that was found on him was this pocket watch that I guess the Japanese had neglected to take from him after they shot him. So this watch seems to carry the soul of both my father and my grandfather. 11、Describe a beautiful building in your hometownAlright, well I've been asked to talk about something beautiful and I'd like to choose the White Cloud Temple. It is located in Beijing and it's on the west side of town. It's not that far away from a subway station, but you would need to take a bus, because it's a bit far to walk. I go there probably two or more times a year. It's a Taoist temple, probably the most active Taoist temple in Beijing. I'm a Taoist. But I go there more than just to pray. I really try to take a trip to find some time to rediscover myself. During the Spring Festival people jam into it because they hold what I think is the best carnival during Spring Festival. We call them Miao Huis. At that time the temple is very crowded, but most other times it's quite peaceful, and it's a good place to get away from all the people.I think the reason it's so beautiful is because it is simple and it seems to blend in well with its environment. The small praying hall is very serene. It has a nice pool and a bridge. The Taoist motifs are quite simple but I think they are very charming. I love to go there during the winter after a big snowfall because it's at this time that it seems to be most mysterious. I choose this as the most beautiful because, to me, beauty is simplicity and natural design, and it also means it fits the environment it is in. I don't really like grand, elaborate temples. I prefer temples that seem powerful not because of their structures but because they are perfect for their simple beauty.。
