Step I Class Opening (1 minutes)

1. Greeting

T: Good morning, class! How are you today?

Ss: Good morning, Miss Dai! Fine, thank you. And you?

T: I’m fi ne, too.

2. Free Talk

T: What’s the date today?

S1:It’s April 7th.

T: What day is it today?

S2: It’s Monday.

T: Look out of the window. What’s the weather like today?

S3: It’s sunny.

Step II Review(2 minutes)

The teacher shows some exercises on the PPT.

Students do the exercises and check the answers together.

Step III New Concepts (28 minutes)

1.Lead-in

Show the students a video. It aims to tell the students that they can do something interesting after class.

2.New words

Read and recite.

3. Listening

T: Play the audiotape. Let the students listen to the tape and number the pictures.

T: Check the answers as a class.

4. Read and translate

T: Let the students read the text once, and then translate eleven sentences.

S1: Tell the other students his answers.

T: Check the answers.

5. Read and answer:

T: Read the text again, and answer four questions.

S1: She always draws and paints.

S2: No, they don’t. They usually play songs as a class. But sometimes they play on their own. S3: There are 400 students in her school.

S4: In social studies, they do a lot of projects. Sometimes they work in groups. Today, they worked on a map of Canada.

T: Check the answers.

6. Language points

T: on one’s own 意为“独自” = by oneself 。Then let the students translate two sentences. S1: She's going on holiday on her own this year.

S2: 尽管她父亲在公司里,但她那份工作却是靠自己得到的。

T: Check the answers .

T: take part in, join, join in. Tell the students the meanings of these three. Let them write down. Then ask them to do three exercises.
