I couldn't care less. I don't care at all. 或 I don't give a hoot. What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎)How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)而实际上他是根本在乎升级和加薪的,那么人家也许就会回答说:Yes, you do(care).至于 I couldn't care more. 就是「我很在乎」(I care a lot.)或I care deeply. 同理:I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. I couldn't be more wrong.

I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。

虽然我们用why are you upset,或者why you are looking so angry都一样能表达这时侯的感情,但是why the long face看起来更地道一些。

He knew he would never get away with it so he decided to face the music and give himself up to the police.(他知道自己已经无法逃脱,所以他决定承担后果并向警方自首。

)Everybody has to face the music for what he has done.(每个人都必须对自己所做的事情承担责任。

于是couch potato成了“电视迷”的代名词!I have butterfly in my stomach(ants in your pants)蝴蝶是很漂亮的。

To have butterflies in one's stomach。

To have butterflies in one's stomach,

Yeah, sure I had butterflies in my stomach in the locker room! But once I got out on the court and caught that first pass, I was just fine."

The man over there has been waitting forlong and he's really getting ants in his pants。

Right on the beam

I thought Mr. Claghorn's speech was right on the beam last night! Just like he says, we need to spend more money on educating our children. He makes a lot of sense to me."

”To fly by the seat of his pants

To fly by the seat of his pants。

To fly by the seat of his pants来形容某种局面,也就是你在做某件事的时候没有明确的指导,也缺乏足够的知识。

Driving to a friend's house last night I took the wrong turn off the main highway and got lost. I didn't have a road map but I flew by the seat of my pants and after twenty minutes I found the street I was looking for."

”To fly off the handle

To fly off the handle。

Honey, please don't fly off the handle -- I had a little accident with the car, but it certainly wasn't my fault."

”To bark up the wrong tree

To bark up the wrong tree

If my brother-in-law hopes to borrow any more money from me, he will be barking up the wrong tree."

Hey man, if you think I was the guy who robbed that bank today, you're barking up the wrong tree! I was nowhere near the place."

”The shoe is on the other foot

首先,我们要介绍的是“The shoe is on the other foot”。
