下面是小编给大家整理的端午节介绍屈原英语,供你参考!端午节英语作文篇1(For thousands of years, the tradition of the Duanwu Festival has been passed down from one generation to the next. But where did it come from and why did people eat Zongzi and race dragon boats? Many scholars have studied these questions and given their academic explanations. )One explanation is that the Duanwu Festival originated from people’s worship of dragon s. In ancient China, people believed the dragon was the god in charge of water, which was vitally important to daily life and agricultural production. On the day of Duanwu, people raced dragon boats to entertain the god and offered him Zongzi as a treat. The sole purpose was to please the god to ensure a year of favorable weather. Some people believe Duanwu comes from activities instigated by ancient sorcerers. These activities were held in early summer when the hot weather was about to bring diseases to pe ople who didn’t have modern devices and medicines to protect themselves. So, ancient sorcerers encouraged people to wear fragrant pouches and hang mugwort and calamus on their doors to drive away the so-called evil spirits that caused diseases.Scholars may provide many other explanations about the origin of the Duanwu Festival. But if you ask ordinary people about its origin, you’ll get the same answer. They will tell you that the Duanwu Festival honors the great poet, Qu Yuan. They’ll also tell you the st ory that has been passed down for more than 2,000 years.Qu Yuan was born in 340 BC, during the Warring States Period. At that time, there were seven states struggling among themselves to unify China. Of the seven states, Qin was the strongest and Chu the largest.Qu Yuan was a noble of Chu. During his lifetime, the powerful kingdom of Chu fell into a decline.Early in his life, Qu Yuan won the confidence of the King of Chu, and was his deputy prime minister, helping draft laws and determine foreign policy. When he saw the danger posed by the ambitious Qin State, he proposed government reforms and an alliance with the neighboring Qi state as a way to ensure Chu’s safety. But the King of Chu was surrounded by self-seekers, who were jealous of Qu Yuan. They ac cepted bribes from the Qin’s envoy, dissuaded the King from taking Qu Yuan’s advice and brought about the poet’s estrangement from the King. Qu Yuan was finally sent into exile for 20 years.During those desperate years, Qu Yuan helplessly watched his beloved country become weaker every day. In the year 278 BC, the capital of Chu was stormed by troops from Qin. In great pain, Qu Yuan wrote “Lisao” or “The Lament”, the greatest of all his poems. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, he drowned himself in the Milo River, because he was hopeless about his country’s future.Qu Yuan died thousands of years ago, but he is remembered every year for his love of and loyalty to his country and his people. In his poems, he wrote:Long did I sigh and wipe away my tears,To see my people bowed by grieves and fears.......The people’s sufferings move my heart,Our land I cannot leave.People grieve for those who have grieved for them. Each year, during the Duanwu Festival, the day of Qu Yuan’s death, people race dragon boats to commemorate him. This is believed to be a representation of how the people of Chu tried, at the time, to recov er Qu Yuan’s body from the Milo River. Pyramid-shaped dumplings by the name of Zongzi were thrown in the river to feed the fish, so they would stay away from Qu Yuan’s body.Qu Yuan’s life was tragic but, as a poet, he achieved great success. In fact, he is considered to be the first poet in Chinese literature. Before his time, there were only folk songs. Qu Yuan created a new style of poetry, which became known as Chu Ci. 端午节英语作文篇2Green cloud clothes, the white neon dress, the long arrow, shoot the sky Wolf. It is a time for people to commemorate the patriotic poet Qu Yuan, who lived during the Warring States period of ancient China. On this day, people eat zongzi, a glutinous rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo leaves, and participate in dragon boat races.I remember when I was a child, my grandmother used to tell me the story of Qu Yuan and how he drowned himself in the Miluo River as an act of protest against the corrupt government. She would also teach me how to make zongzi, filling them with different ingredients like pork, mushrooms, and chestnuts. We would then go to the river to watch the dragon boat races, cheering on the teams as they paddled furiously to the beat of drums. The Dragon Boat Festival is not only a time to remember Qu Yuan, but also a time for family gatherings and strengthening bonds. I was surprised: it turned out that this grass has so many effects!During lunch, I found that there were eel and yellow croaker on the table. The most obvious example is probably Christmas, which is celebrated around the world by people who aren#39;t even Christian. Similarly, in recent years, the Dragon Boat Festival has moved beyond China to become an international holiday celebrated by people who may know little about the holiday#39;s origins. The Dragon Boat Festival is one of three major Chinese holidays, along with the Spring and Moon Festivals. Of the three, it is possibly the oldest, dating back to the Warring States Period in 227 B.C. The festival commemorates Qu Yuan, a minister in the service of the Chu Emperor. Despairing over corruption at court, Qu threw himself into a river. Townspeople jumped into their boats and tried in vain to save him. Then, hoping to distract hungry fish from his body, the people scattered rice on the water.Over the years, the story of Qu#39;s demise transformed into the traditions of racing dragon boats and eating zongzi – a kind of rice wrapped in bamboo leaves. The races have certainly captured the imagination of people from all over the world. Every spring there are nearly 60 dragon boat races held outside of China in cities from Vancouver to Sydney, from Gdańsk, Poland to Cape Town, South Africa. Canada alone has nearly 50 dragon boat teams and Germany has nearly 30.So what is it about the Dragon Boat Festival that appeals to foreigners? “It#39;s an《白话文·》unusual sport,” says one racer from Germany. “It#39;s not like everybody#39;s doing it. That#39;sone of the reasons that there#39;s such great team spirit in a dragon boat team – everybody feels like we#39;re doing something special.” And what about the zongzi? “Ehhh, they#39;re not bad, I guess,” he says. “Something of an acquired taste. I just haven#39;t really acquired it yet.”端午节英语作文篇三I have had many interesting festivals. This year's Dragon Boat Festival is my happiest and most unforgettable. On the day of the Dragon Boat Festival, my mother and I went to the vegetable market to buy tea and glutinous rice in the morning. The mother who came home put the water in the basin and the tea in it. She asked her mother boring why she put the tea into the water? Mother said: tea leaves will not dry and harden when immersed in water, so we can wrap them. Ah, I see. My mother washed the rice and soaked it in water. I immediately said to my mother: Mom, immersing the rice in water is the same as tea. Mother nodded and said: Yes.Finally began to pack tea. Mother overlapped the two pieces of tea, surrounded the big head into a funnel, put it into the rice, wrapped the excess leaves along the funnel, and finally laid the rope in the middle of the three corners and tied it to the two corners. The tea was born.I also learned the way my mother looks. My brown is really a funnel. Accidentally, the rice falls down one by one. My mother said that when rolled into the shape of the funnel, there should be no gap. It really becomes a funnel. When the rice is put in, it should be cooked in this way to make the rice strong. I wrapped it carefully and finally succeeded. I tied my brown bag with a rope. This is the fruit of my labor, and I must keep it in memory.I'm glad that I learned to make zongzi, so I can't forget this year's Dragon Boat Festival.端午节的英语作文篇四The dragon boat festival is a traditional chinese fastival. We hold the festival to remember the great poet Qu Yuan.He was a loyal minister of Chu,and ended his life in Miluo river after his country been destroyed by the enemy.During dragon boat festival,we eat zongzi, which is a special dumpling made of rice and have some sweet stuffing in it.In many provinces, there would be a boating race, and many people would Amy on the door,in order to exorcise evil spirits and blessing for peace. Many children would wear a kind of special hand catenary,it made of five colors of cotton lines. It is believed that it can help the chilren become healther.端午节英语作文篇五Dragon Boat Festival is the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. It is one of the three major traditional festivals in Chinese folk. However, the river was in a hurry and Qu Yuan was no longer there. People put rice balls into the river and tied colorful ropes, eggs and other food. My name is Emily and I'm going to tell you all about the famous Chinese poet Qu Yuan and how the Dragon Boat Festival started because of him.A long, long time ago, around 340 BC, there was a very talented and loyal minister named Qu Yuan. He served in the kingdom of Chu during the Warring States period of ancient China. Qu Yuan was a great thinker and writer. He wrote beautiful poems that are still read today! But even though Qu Yuan was very smart and worked hard for his kingdom, some people got jealous of him. They started telling lies about Qu Yuan to the king. The lies made the king angry at Qu Yuan, even though he didn't do anything wrong! Eventually, the king exiled Qu Yuan from the kingdom. This made Qu Yuan very sad to be sent away from his home for no good reason. While in exile, Qu Yuan kept writing his sad yet lovely poems. In one famous poem, he expressed how heartbroken he felt at being forced to leave Chu. After many years of being exiled, the sad news came that the kingdom of Chu had fallen to other states in 278 BC. Hearing this tragic news devastated Qu Yuan. Overcome with grief and despair for his lost homeland, the great poet walked into the Miluo River holding a huge rock. He allowed the waters to carry him away, sacrificing himself out of pain and loyalty to Chu.The people living near the Miluo River loved Qu Yuan's poems and heroic spirit. When they heard he had drowned himself in the river, they raced out in boats and beat on drums to scare away evil spirits. They wanted to rescue Qu Yuan, but it was too late. To honor his memory, they dropped lumps of rice into the river so Qu Yuan's spirit would have food to eat. This is how the Dragon Boat Festival traditions started - racing boats, beating drums, and eating rice dumplings called zongzi. For over 2,000 years, people have celebrated Qu Yuan's life on the 5th day of the 5th month of the Chinese lunar calendar by carrying on these customs.Qu Yuan's courage, talent, and love for his kingdom have made him an immortal hero in Chinese culture. His poems are treasured classics studied by students everywhere. The exciting dragon boat races, with their bright decorations and energetic drummers, have become one of the most fun and colorful holidays. All because of one man's noble spirit that could not be forgotten!I think Qu Yuan's story has an important message - that we should always stick to our values and beliefs, work hard, and love our countries, even if others mistreat us. His life celebrates patriotism, integrity, and the immortal power of great literature and culture. Whenever I see a dragon boat or eat a zongzi dumpling, I'll remember the brave poet who chose to sacrifice everything out of his devotion to his homeland. So let's carry on the Dragon Boat Festival traditions to keep Qu Yuan's beautiful memory alive! Grab a drumstick and cheer on the rowers. Unwrap those delicious zongzi bundles filled withsweet or savory fillings. And don't forget to read some of Qu Yuan's enduring poems. His story and spirit will continue to inspire us all.篇5Qu Yuan was a loyal advisor who loved his country. When evil men took over, he jumped into a river to protest their cruelty. People raced boats to find him, dropping rice to keep fish away. They hung zongzi on their doors to show respect. Though Qu Yuan died, his spirit lived on inspiring others to be brave and good citizens. The Dragon Boat Festival honors this noble Chinese poet who gave his life defending justice. And here is a longer 2000-word version of the story in English, told from a child's perspective:The Dragon Boat Festival is one of my favorite times of year! Every home is decorated with zongzi (those yummy sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves) and colorful dragon boat races happen on the rivers and lakes. But do you know why we celebrate this special day? Let me tell you an amazing true story from ancient China about a hero named Qu Yuan.A long, long time ago, there was a kingdom called Chu. Qu Yuan was a highly respected scholar, minister and poet who gaveadvice to the king. He cared deeply about his country and wanted to make sure it was ruled wisely and fairly. However, some bad officials got jealous of Qu Yuan and started telling lies about him to the king. They tricked the king into believing Qu Yuan was disloyal and he was exiled from the kingdom he loved so much! While in exile, Qu Yuan was heartbroken to see the kingdom of Chu being destroyed by greedy invaders and corrupt leaders. He could not bear to watch his beloved homeland suffer. On the fifth day of the fifth month in the ancient Chinese lunar calendar, Qu Yuan walked into the Miluo River carrying a huge rock. Tragically, this brave patriot chose to drown himself in protest of the evil that had taken over Chu.When the people living nearby heard what their revered Qu Yuan had done, they raced out in boats trying to rescue him from the river. They beat drums and splashed the water with their paddles hoping to scare the fish away from Qu Yuan's body. Some kind villagers even dropped bamboo packages of cooked rice into the water so the fish would eat the rice instead of Qu Yuan. But sadly, it was too late - Qu Yuan was already gone. From that day on, people celebrated Qu Yuan's great integrity by honoring his memory each year. They wouldcarefully wrap zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) in bamboo leaves and string them high on their roofs and doors. This warded off evil spirits while showing respect for Qu Yuan's noble sacrifice. People also raced dragon boats, drumming and paddling through the waters just like that terrible day so long ago when villagers tried in vain to find Qu Yuan. The exciting dragon boat races became yearly competitions, with crowds cheering loudly for the teams of paddlers wearing bright colors and carving through the waves propelled by the rhythmic pounding of the drums. Sometimes, zongzi would be flung from the boats into the water to recreate the scene of villagers feeding the hungry fish. It was both a somber remembrance and a raucous celebration of Qu Yuan's loyalty and virtue. When I go watch the dragon boat races with my family, I can feel the energy of the crowds, the pulse of the drumbeats, and the ripples of the waters that long ago swallowed Qu Yuan. I stuff my mouth full of delicious zongzi while cheering on the racing teams. I imagine Qu Yuan looking down with pride to see his integrity honored in such an exciting and meaningful way after all these centuries. To me, the most important part of the Dragon Boat Festival is remembering the selfless spirit of Qu Yuan, the great poet and devoted patriot of ancient China. He valued morality, justice and loyalty more than his own life. Even though he faced a heartbreaking exile and eventual suicide, Qu Yuan's noble actions continue to inspire people today to have courage and always do what is right, no matter how difficult. I hope I can be as brave and dedicated to good principles as the legendary Qu Yuan!篇6The Dragon Boat Festival: Remembering the Poet Qu YuanEvery year, when summer arrives, we celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival. We get to eat delicious zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), race dragon boats, and learn about a famous poet named Qu Yuan.Qu Yuan lived a long, long time ago, during the Warring States period in ancient China. He was a minister who served the king of the Chu state. Qu Yuan was incredibly smart, talented, and loyal to his king and country. However, some bad people got jealous of how great Qu Yuan was. They lied to the king andmade the king believe that Qu Yuan was disloyal. Can you imagine? Qu Yuan would never betray his king! The king fell for the lies and banished Qu Yuan from the capital city. Qu Yuan was forced to wander around alone, feeling sad and heartbroken that he could no longer serve his beloved Chu state. During his exile, he wrote many beautiful poems expressing his love for his homeland and his sadness at being sent away unfairly. One day, many years later, Qu Yuan heard terrible news - the Chu state had been conquered by the Qin state! This devastated him. He loved Chu so much and had devoted his whole life to serving it. Qu Yuan was so overcome with grief that he waded into the Miluo River with a huge rock tied to his body, allowing the waters to take his life. When the local people heard what had happened to the great poet Qu Yuan, they were incredibly saddened. They raced out in boats to try to save him or retrieve his body from the river, beating drums to scare away evil spirits. They dropped zongzi into the water as a sacrifice to Qu Yuan's soul.Although the people failed to rescue the selfless poet, the Dragon Boat Festival was born from their noble efforts to commemorate Qu Yuan's life, honor his poetry, and show theirgratitude for his patriotism and service to the Chu state. Every Dragon Boat Festival, we carry on those ancient traditions. We eat zongzi because that was the food they dropped in for Qu Yuan. 端午节英语作文介绍屈原
端午节英语作文介绍屈原端午节英语作文篇1(For thousands of years, the tradition of the Duanwu Festival has been passed down from one generation to the next. But where did it e from and why did people eat Zongzi and race dragon boats Many scholars have studied these questions and given their academic explanations. )One explanation is that the Duanwu Festival originated from peoples worship of dragons. In ancient China, people believed the dragon was the god incharge of water, which was vitally important to daily life and agricultural production. On the day of Duanwu, people raced dragon boats to entertain the god and offered him Zongzi as a treat. The sole purpose was to please the god to ensure a year of favorable weather. Some people believe Duanwu es from activities instigated by ancient sorcerers. These activities were held in early summer when the hot weather was about tobring diseases to people who didnt have modern devices and medicines to protect themselves. So, ancient sorcerers encouraged people to wear fragrant pouches and hang mugwort and calamus on their doors to drive away the so-called evil spirits that caused diseases.Scholars may provide many other explanations about the origin of the Duanwu Festival. But if you ask ordinary people about its origin, youll get the same answer. They will tell you that the Duanwu Festival honors the great poet, Qu Yuan. Theyll also tell you the story that has been passed down for more than2,000 years.Qu Yuan was born in 340 BC, during the Warring States Period. When he saw the danger posed by the ambitious Qin State, he proposed government reforms and an alliance with the neighboring Qi state as a way to ensure Chus safety. But the King of Chu was surrounded by self-seekers, who were jealous of Qu Yuan. They accepted bribes from the Qins envoy, dissuaded the King from taking Qu Yuans advice and brought about the poets estrangement from the King. Qu Yuan was finally sent into exile for 20 years.During those desperate years, Qu Yuan helplessly watched his beloved country bee weaker every day. In the year 278 BC, the capital of Chu was stormed by troops from Qin. In great pain, Qu Yuan wrote Lisao or The Lament, the greatest of all his poems. On thefifth day of the fifth lunar month, he drowned himself in the Milo River, because he was hopeless about his countrys future.Qu Yuan died thousands of years ago, but he is remembered every year for his love of and loyalty to his country and his people. In his poems, he wrote:Long did I sigh and wipe away my tears,To see my people bowed by grieves and fears. The peoples sufferings move my heart,Our land I cannot leave.People grieve for those who have grieved for them. Each year, during the Duanwu Festival, the day of Qu Yuans death, people race dragon boats to memorate him. This is believed to be a representation of how the people of Chu tried, at the time, to recover Qu Yuans body from the Milo River. Pyramid-shaped dumplings by the name of Zongzi were thrown in the river to feed the fish, so they would stay away from Qu Yuans body.Qu Yuans life was tragic but, as a poet, he achieved great success. In fact, he is considered to be the first poet in Chinese literature. Before his time, there were only folk songs. Qu Yuan created a new style of poetry, which became known as Chu Ci.端午节英语作文篇2Green cloud clothes, the white neon dress, thelong arrow, shoot the sky Wolf. 端午节时为什么要纪念屈原英文作文
端午节时为什么要纪念屈原英文作文全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1Why Do We Remember Qu Yuan on the Dragon Boat Festival?Every year when summer comes around, my family and I get really excited. We look forward to the Dragon Boat Festival, which is one of the biggest celebrations in China! On this special day, we eat delicious zongzi (sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves), drink realgar wine, and watch the exciting dragon boat races. But do you know why we do all these fun things? It's because we are remembering a very important person named Qu Yuan.Qu Yuan lived a long, long time ago, around 340-278 BC during the Warring States period of ancient China. He was a highly educated and patriotic minister who served in the state of Chu. Qu Yuan loved his country deeply and wanted to make it strong and prosperous. He gave the king lots of good advice about how to govern the state wisely. However, the king didn't always listen to Qu Yuan's suggestions. Instead, he believed the lies told by some bad ministers who were jealous of Qu Yuan's talents and closeness to the king. These evil men convinced the king that Qu Yuan was a traitor who wanted to overthrow him! Can you believe that? The king fell for their tricks and banished the loyal Qu Yuan from the capital city.Qu Yuan was so sad and angry that his beloved king had turned against him because of the wicked ministers' deceit. He was sent into exile far away from his home. While wandering alone, the heartbroken Qu Yuan poured out his feelings by writing many beautiful and patriotic poems. His words expressed his love for his state of Chu and his dream of a unified, peaceful China ruled by a wise and virtuous leader. In one of his most famous poems called "Lisao," Qu Yuan wrote "I bear a freight of sorrow and hate...Oh Sun, when you go down, I'll join the lovely River Xiang!" These lines showed how depressed and hopeless he felt after being wrongly exiled. Sadly, on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, the despairing Qu Yuan carried out what he wrote - he tied a heavy rock to his body and jumped into the Miluo River to kill himself. When the local people heard the terrible news about Qu Yuan's suicide, they were heartbroken too. They loved and respected him deeply for his wisdom, talents, and noble character. Regretting that they had failed to clear his name and let such a great patriot live, the people raced out in boats to search for Qu Yuan's body in the river. They beat drums and splashed the water with their paddles, hoping to keep the fish and evil creatures away from disturbing his body. The searchers also dropped lumps of sticky rice into the river as an offering to Qu Yuan's spirit, in case he was hungry or thirsty in the afterlife. They wrapped the sticky rice in bamboo leaves too, so it would not disintegrate in the water. These sticky rice balls eventually evolved into the zongzi we love eating today during Dragon Boat Festival.Even though the people never found Qu Yuan's body, they were so touched by his talents and his great patriotism that they held yearly commemoration ceremonies for him. They would organize dragon boat racing competitions on the river,re-enacting that desperate attempt to find and rescue Qu Yuan's body from the waters. Drinking realgar wine and hanging botanicals such as calamus and wormwood plants became partof the ceremonies too, since these items were thought to have magical powers to ward off evil.Over 2,000 years later, the Dragon Boat Festival traditions like eating zongzi, boat racing, and hanging botanicals are still going strong in remembrance of the famous poet and loyal minister Qu Yuan. His life story reminds us to cherish our nation and be good citizens like he was. We should value truth, wisdom, and integrity like Qu Yuan did instead of being misled by lies and corruption. His tragic death teaches us that achieving justice is very important, even if it means sacrificing everything. So you see, Dragon Boat Festival is much more than just a fun day off from school to enjoy delicious food and exciting races! When we participate in these customs, we are honoring the noble spirit of the great Qu Yuan and the important values he stood for. The next time you watch a dragon boat race or bite into a zongzi, remember the brave patriot who loved his country so much that he gave his life defending his beliefs. Qu Yuan's undying passion for truth and justice is why we celebrate him year after year.篇2Why Do We Remember Qu Yuan on Dragon Boat Festival?Every year when summer comes around, one of my favorite festivals happens - the Dragon Boat Festival! I love watching the dragon boat races on the river or lake. The bright colors of the dragon boat decorations are so pretty. And of course, I really enjoy eating all the delicious zongzi (sticky rice dumplings)! But do you know why we actually celebrate Dragon Boat Festival? It's to remember a famous poet and minister who lived a long, long time ago named Qu Yuan. He was a very smart and patriotic man who tried his best to help make his country and people's lives better. But sadly, some people got jealous of how talented he was and didn't like his ideas. They lied about him to the king and got Qu Yuan exiled from the palace.Qu Yuan felt really sad and upset that he couldn't serve his country anymore. He went away and wrote beautiful poems to express his feelings of being loyal to his state but also his disappointment at not being able to help improve things like he wanted to. Many of his poems talked about his love for his homeland and taught important lessons about bravery, honesty and doing the right thing.Years passed and Qu Yuan kept writing his patriotic poems to encourage people to be good citizens and care about their country. But eventually he became so depressed about beingexiled that he walked into the Miluo River and drowned himself as a protest against the corrupt government officials who had lied about him. When the local people realized what had happened, they raced out in boats to try and save Qu Yuan's body from the river. They beat drums and splashed the water with their paddles to try and scare away any evil spirits in the river. Some people even dropped rice dumplings wrapped in leaves into the water as a sacrifice, hoping the dumplings would help keep Qu Yuan's body from being eaten by fish or sea creatures.Even though the people couldn't save Qu Yuan's life that day, they were so touched by his noble spirit and determination to do the right thing for their state that they vowed to honor him every year after that. The annual boat races on the day Qu Yuan died became a way to remember his bravery and love of country. The drums and beating of paddles in the water re-enacted the story of trying to scare away evil spirits from the river that fateful day. And the rice dumplings that were dropped overboard became the precursor to the delicious zongzi snacks we eat today. So that's the story of how the Dragon Boat Festival originated - as a way for people long ago to commemorate the memory of the selfless Qu Yuan after his tragic death in theMiluo River. He was a remarkable and loyal patriot who used his talents as a poet and adviser to try and guide his nation, only to be wrongly accused by jealous people and exiled from serving the kingdom.Even though Qu Yuan lived over 2,000 years ago in ancient China, his virtues of integrity, love of country, and willingness to sacrifice for moral principles are still very admirable today. His poetry promoted ideals like being a good citizen, working hard, being brave in the face of injustice, and always striving to do what's ethical - values that are just as meaningful in the modern world. So this Dragon Boat Festival, when you see the colorful dragon boats skimming across the water and hear the drums beating, remember the noble origins of this tradition to honor a true Chinese hero and virtuous poet named Qu Yuan. And when you bite into those delicious zongzi dumplings, reflect on Qu Yuan's unyielding spirit that we still celebrate over two millennia later. His life and values teach us that standing up for what's right – even in the face of adversity – is one of the most courageous things a person can do.篇3Why Do We Remember Qu Yuan on the Dragon Boat Festival?Every year when summer comes around, my family gets really excited for the Dragon Boat Festival. We make sticky rice dumplings called zongzi, we watch the dragon boat races, and we remember a sad but important person from a long time ago named Qu Yuan.Qu Yuan lived over 2,000 years ago during the Warring States period in ancient China. He was a minister and advisor to the king, but he was also a very famous poet. Qu Yuan loved his country and his king very much. He worked hard to give the king good advice to make the kingdom strong and successful. But there were some other advisors who got jealous of Qu Yuan because the king listened to him a lot. These mean advisors lied about Qu Yuan and said bad things about him to the king. They made the king angry at Qu Yuan and not trust him anymore. In the end, the king sent Qu Yuan away from the capital city into exile.Qu Yuan was so sad and upset that the king didn't believe him. He felt like he had failed his country that he loved so much. To show how loyal he still was, Qu Yuan wrote many beautiful poems while in exile expressing his sadness and patriotism. Some of Qu Yuan's most famous poems are "Li Sao" which means "Encountering Sorrow" and "Huai Sha" which means "Embracing the Sand." In these long poems, he wrote about his sadness at being sent away unfairly, but also his continuing love for his homeland. His poems are considered some of the greatest works of ancient Chinese literature.Sadly, the story of Qu Yuan gets even more tragic. After many years in exile, he heard news that his beloved kingdom had been conquered by a powerful enemy. Qu Yuan was so overcome with grief that his country was lost that he walked into the Miluo River holding a huge rock. He chose to drown himself in the river rather than live in a conquered land. The local people nearby were so sad when they heard Qu Yuan had died. They raced out in boats to try to find his body and save him, but it was too late. To keep the fish and evil spirits away from his body, they beat drums and dropped lumps of sticky rice into the river. This is why we eat zongzi on Dragon Boat Festival!Although Qu Yuan lived such a long time ago, people in China still remember and honor him every year. He is considered a great patriot who gave everything for his country, even his ownlife. His tragic story and beautiful poetry have been passed down for over 2,000 years. On Dragon Boat Festival, families gather to eat zongzi, watch the exciting dragon boat races, and think about Qu Yuan's love for his homeland. His spirit of patriotism and loyalty is celebrated through these traditions.I think remembering Qu Yuan is really important because it reminds us to love our country and be a good citizen. Even though bad things happened to Qu Yuan, he never stopped caring about his people and his land. His sad story teaches the value of staying true to your beliefs and doing what's right, no matter what.I always feel proud when I eat zongzi and watch the dragon boats race by on Dragon Boat Festival. It connects me to my ancient Chinese culture and the spirit of a noble, self-sacrificing poet from long ago. Qu Yuan's tragic life and beautiful writing will be celebrated for many more centuries to come.篇4Why Do We Remember Qu Yuan During the Dragon Boat Festival?Hey there, friends! Have you ever heard of the Dragon Boat Festival? It's one of the coolest holidays we celebrate in China. Back then, the country was divided into several states that often fought against each other. Qu Yuan was a minister and loyal adviser to the king of the Chu state. He loved his country deeply and wanted to serve the king and the people well. However, some jealous officials didn't like Qu Yuan's ideas and falsely accused him of crimes he didn't commit. The king believed the lies and exiled Qu Yuan from the capital city. How unfair is that? Qu Yuan could have chosen to be bitter and give up, but he didn't. Instead, he traveled around the countryside, writing beautiful poetry to express his love for his homeland and his sadness at being forced away. One of his most famous poems is called "Li Sao," which means "Encountering Sorrow." In this long poem, Qu Yuan describes his journeys and the gorgeous natural scenery he saw, like misty rivers, towering mountains, and lush forests. He also wrote about his feelings of being wronged and his longing to return home. Qu Yuan's poems were so moving and lyrical that they are still studied and admired today, over 2,000 years later!Sadly, Qu Yuan's story has a tragic ending. After many years of exile, he heard that his beloved Chu state had been conquered by a powerful enemy. Overwhelmed with grief and despair, Qu Yuan tied a heavy stone to his body and jumped into the Miluo River, choosing to drown himself rather than live under foreign rule. When the local people heard what had happened to the great poet, they were devastated. They rowed their boats out onto the river, trying to find Qu Yuan's body so they could give him a proper burial. They beat drums and splashed the water with their paddles, hoping to scare away any evil spirits or hungry fish that might disturb Qu Yuan's remains. The Dragon Boat Festival is one of my favorite holidays because there are so many fun traditions like eating delicious zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), watching the exciting dragon boat races, and hanging up fragrant pouches of herbs. But the real reason we celebrate has a sad but inspiring story behind it.A long, long time ago, around 300 BC, there was a very talented and loyal minister named Qu Yuan who served in the kingdom of Chu. Qu Yuan was not only a government official, but he was also an amazing poet. He wrote hundreds of beautiful poems that we still read and study today.Qu Yuan truly loved his country and wanted to make it a strong and prosperous place. Unfortunately, the king didn't always listen to his good advice. Instead, the king listened to some bad and dishonest people who were jealous of Qu Yuan. These mean people told a bunch of lies about Qu Yuan and eventually convinced the king to banish him from the capital city. Can you imagine how sad and heartbroken Qu Yuan must have felt? He had served his king and country loyally for so manyyears, but then he was sent away from his home based on false accusations. Qu Yuan wandered sadly from place to place, writing his famous poems to express his deep love for his homeland. Many years passed and things did not get better for Qu Yuan or for the kingdom of Chu. The bad advisors continued giving the king terrible guidance that weakened and divided the country. When Qu Yuan heard that a powerful invading army had captured the capital, he was overwhelmed with grief and despair.According to the legend, Qu Yuan walked into the Miluo River while carrying a huge rock in order to drown himself. He sacrificed his own life because he loved his nation so much and could not bear to see it conquered and ruined by outsiders. When the local people realized that the great Qu Yuan had killed himself, they raced out in boats to try and save him. They beat drums and splashed the water with their paddles to scare away the evil spirits. They even dropped lumps of sticky rice into the river so that if Qu Yuan was still alive, he would have something to eat.Sadly, the people never found Qu Yuan's body. But they were so moved by his noble sacrifice that they vowed to honor him every year. That's why we celebrate the Dragon Boat Festivalby racing dragon boats, eating zongzi, and participating in other traditions. To me, Qu Yuan is a true hero because he valued honor, integrity and loyalty above everything else. Even when he was mistreated and exiled, he never stopped caring about his nation. His tragic death was a protest against corruption and injustice. By commemorating him, we remember the importance of being a good citizen who stands up for what is right, just like Qu Yuan did.On this Dragon Boat Festival, I will be racing in the children's dragon boat event and making delicious bamboo leaf-wrapped zongzi with my family. While we have fun with the festivities, we'll also be paying tribute to the undying patriotism and poetic greatness of Qu Yuan. His willingness to sacrifice himself for his beliefs is an inspiration that all Chinese people can look up to, no matter how young or old we are.I hope you've enjoyed learning about the real meaning behind the Dragon Boat Festival and the reasons we celebrate the amazing Qu Yuan. Let's carry on his legacy by living with integrity, speaking out against wrongdoing, and cherishing our cultural heritage. Qu Yuan's poems are full of his sadness at being wrongfully exiled, but also his enduring hope and faith in truth and justice prevailing in the end.I feel very lucky that I can learn about the legacy of such an amazing historical figure as Qu Yuan through the fun traditions of the Dragon Boat Festival. Next time I'm devouring those delicious sticky rice dumplings or watching the colorful dragon boat races, I'll be reminded of Qu Yuan's unwavering courage and how we should all aspire to use our voices for good like he did.His tragic story didn't end well for him personally, but Qu Yuan will always be a revered hero whose inspiring life and sacrifice are celebrated for generations to come.
