People feared that weakening a 21-year-old ban on the sale of ivory would encourage illegal hunting and hurt elephant populations.【句意】二十一年来,象牙交易一直被明令禁止,人们担心削弱这一禁令会助长非法捕猎,导致大象数量减少。

【分析】that 引导宾语从句,从句中谓语动词是encourage和hurt,根据逻辑意义,可知encourage和hurt 的主语是动名词短语weakening a 21-year-old ban on the sale of ivory。

Economists from the University of Sussex analysed findings from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health, a 15-year research project charting the fortunes of a group of thousands of teenagers who attended high schools in the US in the mid-1990s.【句意】来自萨塞克斯大学的经济学家们分析了国家青少年健康纵向研究的研究结果,这项研究是一个历时15年的课题,它记录了数千名在美国20世纪90年代中期上中学的一组青少年的财产情况。

长难句分析的步骤举例:经典例题(2001年考研完型填空第二段)In a significant tightening of legal controls over the press, Lord Irvine, the Lord Chancellor, will introduce a draft bill that will propose making payments to witnesses illegal and will strictly control the amount of publicity that can be given to a case before a trial begins.分析:第一,划出定语从句和状语从句: that will propose making payments to witnesses illegal and will strictly control the amount of publicity /that can be given to a case /before a trial begins. In a significant tightening of legal controls over the press第三,句子的结构分析:(1)主干结构是主语(Lord Irvine含同位语the Lord Chancellor)+将来时谓语(will introduce)+宾语(a draft bill);(2)that引导的定语从句修饰draft bill,其中,will propose 是第一个谓语,making payments to witnesses illegal是一个动名词短语做宾语,在动名词短语内部,payments to witnesses做making的宾语,illegal是宾补;第二个谓语是will strictly control, the amount of publicity是它的宾语。

Naturally, this card game has often been of considerable interest to people who are, by any standards, good thinkers.Long sentence analysis1 Whereas a woman’s closest female friend might be the first to tell her to leave a failing marriage, it wasn’t unusual to hear a man say he didn’t know his friend’s marriage was in serious trouble until he appeared one night asking if he could sleep on the sofa.2 If you ask people to name one person who had the greatest effect on the English language, you will get answers like “Shakespeare”, “Samuel Johnson”, and “Webster”, but none of these men had any effect at all compared to a man who didn’t even speak English-----William, the Conqueror.3 This chance discovery ended a 12-day search by the Library Company of Philadelphia for ahistorical treasure---a 120-page diary kept 190 years ago by Deborah Logan---“a woman who knew everybody of her day,”James Green, the librarian told the magazine “American Libraries”.4 First put forward by the French mathematician Pierre de Format in the seventeenth century, the theory had baffled and beaten the finest mathematical minds, including a French woman scientist who made a major advance in working out the problem, and who had to dress like a man in order to be able to study at the Ecolab Polytechnique.5 The debate was launched by the Government, which invited anyone with an opinion of the BBC---including ordinary listeners and viewer to say what was good or bad about the Corporation, and even whether they thought it was worth keeping.6 Declaring that he was opposed to using this unusual animal husbandry technique to clone human, he ordered that federal funds not be used for such an experiment---although no one had proposed to do so---and asked an independent panel of experts chaired by Princeton PresidentHarold Shapiro to report back to the White House in 90 days with recommendations for a national policy on human cloning.7 But it is a little upsetting to read in the explanatory notes that a certain line describes a fight between a Turkish and a Bulgarian officer on a bridge off which they both fall into the river---and then to find that the line consists of the noise of their falling and the weights of the officers, “pluff!pluff!” a hundred and eighty-five kilograms.8 The American economic system is, organized around a basically private-enterprise, market-oriented economy in which consumers largely determine what shall be produced by spending their money in the marketplace for those goods and services that they want most.9 Eddie never said this---not to his wife, not to his mother, not to anyone---but he cursed his father for dying and for trapping him in the very life he’d been trying to escape;

长难句剖析的步骤举例:经典例题( 2001 年考研完型填空第二段)In a significant tightening of legal controls over the press, Lord Irvine, the Lord Chancellor, willintroduce a draft bill that will propose making payments to witnesses illegal and will strictly controlthe amount of publicity that can be given to a case before a trial begins.剖析 :第一,划出定语从句和状语从句 : that will propose making payments to witnesses illegal and willstrictly control the amount of publicity /that can be given to a case /before a trial begins. In a significant tightening of legal controls over the press第三,句子的构造剖析:(1)骨干构造是主语(Lord Irvine 含同位语the Lord Chancellor )+未来时谓语( will introduce )+( a draft bill );(2)that 引的定从句修 draft bill, 此中, will propose 是第一个, making paymentsto witnesses illegal 是一个名短做,在名短内部,payments to witnesses 做making 的, illegal 是;第二个是will strictly control, the amount of publicity是它的。

比如说I love you.

I,liuxiaoyan, who comes from chongqing university, which is the most importantuniversities in china, who is my motherland, love you ,who can make everybody stop to lookat you in the street in which there are so many people who …

1. “The fact that he failed in the exam, which he had been preparing for months, really made him frustrated.”

2. “What confused me most was that she could speak English so fluently without any overseas experience.”

3. “She told me that she would not go to the English party, which made me quite disappointed.”

4. “The book, whose cover i s very beautiful, contains a lot of difficult long sentences that are hard to understand.”
