Topic:The Present Perfect Tense

1. Help the students to grasp the grammar of the Present Perfect Tense.
2. Train the students' abilities of using the Present Perfect Tense.
Teaching aid:Computer
Teaching procedure:
Step 1:Check the homework
Get the students to correct the mistakes in a student's diary.The diary is shown on the screen.
Then use the first sentence “I saw a little accident this morning.”in the diary,get the students to compare the differences between it and the sentence “I have seen the little accident.”So that it can lead out the topic of this lesson.
Step 2:Get the students to do some exercises(Think over,please),and ask the students to say out the form of the Present Perfect Tense.That is “have(has)+done”.“Done” means the past participle of verbs.Then get the students to tell a short story using the past forms or the past participle forms of the verbs given.
Step 3:Get the students to do some exercises(Be careful,please)and then have a discussion:
1.When is the Present Perfect Tense used?
2.What's the difference between “have(has)gone to” and “have(has)been to”?
3.What kinds of words or phrases can be often used in the Present Perfect Tense?
Then check their answers and ask the students to give out some examples.
Step 4:Show the students a dialogue,ask the students to fill in the blanks with proper forms of the verbs given.
After that ask the students to sum up that some adverbial phrases of time such as last night,yesterday etc.which can't be used in the Present Perfect Tense.The students should remember that by heart.
Step 5:Show the students some sentences with mistakes(Where is the mistake),get the students to correct the mistakes and answer one question:Is“I have bought the bike for a month.”right or wrong?Why?Then ask the students to sum up the use of buy.e.g.I bought the bike two weeks ago.Or:I have had the bike for two weeks.etc.And then give the students some similar verbs and some verbs or phrases which can replace them.(Remember,please)Get the students to read them out loudly.Then make a sentence with each word or phrase.
Step 6:Get the students to translate some sentences into English(Translate,please)and then answer a question:Can I say “I've finished my homework for an hour”?Then get the students to explain why,and how to make such sentences.Then tell the students to remember to use the two patterns:It is +some time +since...or some time +has passed since...
Step 7:Games.Ten letters are shown on the screen.Questions are hidden behind the letters.Get the students to give a quick answer in order to arouse the students' enthusiasm and increase the students' interest.
Step 8:Give the students some exercises to do.The exercises are about different tenses.
Step 9:Show the students a picture.(Tell us a story)A hippo is doing morning exercises.Get the students to tell a story about it and they should use the Present Perfect Tense as much as possible.
Step 10:Homework:
1.Finish off all the exercises.
2.Go over the objective clause.
A short story:
One day, John hurried to the library. He said to the librarian, “ Sorry, I’m so sorry. I borrowed a novel from here last week. But I can’t find it. I think I have lost it.” The librarian told him not to be worried. We used our head and came up with a good idea. Just then, Mary ran into the library with a book in her hand. It was Mary that picked up the book in the schoolyard yesterday afternoon. John was very happy and thanked her a lot. So was the librarian.
