The Majesty of the Tower of LondonNestled within the heart of London, standing tall and proud against the skyline, is the iconic Tower of London. This ancient fortress, with its rich history andcaptivating tales, has been a witness to the triumphs and tragedies of England's royal families for centuries. The Tower's construction began in 1066, following the Norman invasion of England. William the Conqueror, the new king, ordered the construction of a powerful fortress to protect London from future invasions. Over the centuries, the Tower transformed from a mere military stronghold into a royal palace, a prison, and even a mint where coins were struck.Walking through the Tower's imposing gates, one is transported to a different era. The White Tower, the oldest part of the complex, stands tall, its walls still displaying the marks of cannon fire from the English Civil War. Inside, the Beauchamp Tower, once used as a prison, echoes with the sobs of past inmates, including queens Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, who were executed here for treason. The Crown Jewels, a collection of rich and sparkling regalia, are another highlight of the Tower. These include the Imperial State Crown, adorned with precious stones and enormous pearls, and the Sovereign's Sceptre, a symbol of royal authority. The Tower is also famous for its resident Yorkist ghosts. Legends claim that the spirits of King Edward IVand his brother Richard, Duke of Gloucester, still roam the halls, their tragic deaths in the Tower's dungeons addingto the place's eerie atmosphere. The Tower of London is not just a historical monument;it's a living testament to the rich and eventful history of England. From its military might to its royal grandeur, from its dark prisons to its sparkling treasures, the Tower tells the story of a nation's rise and fall, joy and sorrow.

A traditional fixed bridge could not be built because it would cut off access by tall-masted ships to the port facilities in the Pool of London, between London Bridge and the Tower of London.
Tower Bridge (built 1886–1894) is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, England which crosses the River Thames. It is close to the Tower of London, from which it takes its name, and has become an iconic symbol of London.
Construction started in 1887 and took eight years with five major contractors and employed 432 construction workers. E W Crutwell was the resident engineer for the construction.
Jones' engineer, Sir John Wolfe Barry, devised the idea of a bascule bridge with two bridge towers built on piers. The central span was split into two equal bascules or leaves, which could be raised to allow river traffic to pass. The two side-spans were suspension bridges, with the suspension rods anchored both at the abutments and through rods contained within the bridge's upper walkways
Now visitors can walk through in the tower bridge, not be charged.
Visit the tower bridge from the north side of the bridge take the elevator up, watching the bridge for structural engineering, and then from the bridge at high channel across the Thames, river Thames and enjoy on both sides of the beautiful scenery

Two massive piers, containing over 70,000 tons of concrete, were sunk into the riverbed to support the construction. Over 11,000 tons of steel provided the framework for the towers and walkways. This was then clad in Cornish granite and Portland stone, both to protect the underlying steelwork and to give the bridge a pleasing appearance
