6-month-olds in music classes and swimming classes.Parents fear that if other children are attending these classes, they will be holding their own children back if they do not enroll, too. The other extreme, simply taking a laissez-faire approach and letting children do—or refuse to do—whatever they want,is not the answer either,of course.Dr Taylor emphasizes that parents need to push their children based on what is best for the children, not what is best for themselves. If children understand that an activity is in their best interests, then they will accept it,he finds.Dr Taylor and other family experts remain pessimistic about the possibilities for widespreadsocial change.“The force of our popular culture, driven by money and superficial(表面上的) values, cannot be resisted,” he says. But change can take place at a“microlevel”,in families and schools. When changes do occur, the rewards can benefit everyone in the family. One mother supporting this new approach toward parenting mentions the advantages her family experienced after her children cut back on activities.“The biggest thing is that si nce we have done this,we are rested,” she says.“Not only are our kids rested, because they're not in a ton of stuff, but my husband and I are rested, because we're not driving them everywhere. We weren't living in the moment when we were always busy.We were living by the schedule. The 2020年秋新版牛津译林英语高一必修一第二单元综合测评(附答案)

2020年秋高一新牛津译林版必修一第二单元综合测评(注:本试卷满分120分,考试时间100分钟)一、阅读理解(每题2.5分,共40分)ARegarded as one of the English language’s most gifted poets, John Keats wrote poetry that concentrated on imagery, human nature, and philosophy (哲学). Although Keats didn’t receive much formal literary education, his own studies and passion brought him much success. Additionally, his own life situation influenced his poetry greatly.Growing up as a young boy in London in a lower middle-class family, the young John didn’t attend a priv ate school, but went to a public one. His teachers and his family’s friends regarded him as an optimistic boy who favored playing and fighting much more than minding his studies. After his father’s death in the early 1800s, followed by his mother’s passing due to tuberculosis (肺结核), he began viewing life differently. He wanted to escape the world and did so by reading anything he could get his hands on.At around the age of 16, the teenage John Keats began studying under a surgeon so that he too might become a doctor. However, his literary appetite had taken too much of his fancy, especially with his addiction to the poetry of Ehmund Spenser. He was able to have his first full poem published in the Examiner in 1816, entitled O Solitude! If I Must With Thee Dwell. Within two months in 1817, Keats had written an entire volume of poetry, but was sharply criticized (批评) by a magazine. However, the negative response didn’t stop his love of rhythm (韵律).John Keats’ next work was Endymion, which was published in May 1818. The story involves a shepherd who falls in love with the moon goddess and leads him on an adventure of one boy’s hope to overcome the limitations of being human. Following Endymion, however, he tried something more narrative-based (叙事体的) and wrote Isabella. During this time, John Keats began seeing his limitations in poetry due to his own limit in life experiences. He would have to have the “knowledge” associated with his poems. His next work was Hyperion that would attempt to combine all that he learned. However, a bout (发作) with tuberculosis while visiting Italy would keep him from his work and eventually take his life in 1821.1. John Keats’ attitude towards life changed because of .A. his early education from schoolB. the deaths of his parentsC. Edmund Spenser’s poetryD. the criticism of a magazine2. What is the common thing between John Keats and his mother?A. They read many books.B. They had a bad childhood.C. They died of the same disease.D. They showed strong interest in poetry.3. Keats once had a chance of becoming a doctor.BAre billionaires good with exams as well as their money? Or are they more likely to have escaped school at the first opportunity and worked their way up to make their fortunes?A study of the education al background of some of the world’s wealthiest people shows that they are much more likely to have gone to university, and they are more likely to have a postgraduate degree(硕士或博士研究生学位) than no degree at all.It doesn’t give much support for the image of self-taught entrepreneurs (企业家), who rely on their own wisdom rather than higher education. The study, by insurance company GoCompare, examined the educational background of people appearing in the top 1 00 billionaire lists by Forbes magazine over the past 20 years. It shows that 76 percent of these billionaires have a degree. Forty-seven percent of them have a bachelor’s (学士) degree, 23 percent a master’s (文/理科硕士) degree and 6 percent a doctorate(博士学位). The most popular subjects were the ones related to economics and engineering. Harvard University is the single most likely name to be found on the resume(履历) of a billionaire, though one of the most famous names on the rich list, Bill Gates, dropped out of Harvard before finishing.Stanford University in California and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have become the launchpads for a rising number of tech billionaires. Google’s co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin were both postgraduates at Stanford. Borthers Charles and David Koch, who are among the world’s biggest oil tycoons, both got their bachelor’s and master’s degrees from MIT.Among U.K. universities, the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Cambridge have the most multi-billionaires on the Forbes list, while Oxford has produced Rupert Murdoch.5. Harvard University has produced more billionaires on the Forbes list than any otheruniversity.CMusic is often thought of as “easy” or “play time”,but it's not that at all.Music plays a very important part in our education.Students who learn music learn a lot of music history at school. This includes “modes(调式)”,which were used in churches during the development of music. They are still used today.Students learn about the historical events that were taking place when the music they play was written. They learn what the music was used for.So much of ourculture is in music and has been for centuries.Music also helps with science.Students use science to help them discover what sounds good together and what doesn't.Students also need science to understand something called the “overtone series”,which is about how music is produced by vibration(颤动)and why.Students learn a lot about languages. Many songs are written in other languages, including ancient ones.Students must learn to translate these works to understand what they are singing about. Some songs are famous poems or short works set to music.Students learn a huge amount of coordination(协调)through music,so parts of the body can work better together.Students must use fine motor skills in order to play an instrument.Singers and players must learn breath control and be in good shape to play.Students learn about art. Some famous pieces were written about important works of art,and students learn about the artists and styles as they're playing the music.Music education also brings higher thinking to our children. It allows them to think about complex patterns (How can I make my part sound better? How do this music and these different parts fit together?).Students have to know absolutely what every other musician does at all times. In that way,it develops teamwork. As one can see, music is very important to education besides bringing us fun.9.Learning music is helpful to the following subjects EXCEPT________.A.sciencenguageC.politicsD.history10.Students who learn music have to translate songs________.A.because they are learning the languageB.because they must understand what they are singing aboutC.because the songs are ancient onesD.because they are famous poems11.Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?A.Modes are still used in modern music.B.Different kinds of music show different cultures.C.It's easier for athletes to learn to play an instrument.D.A good musician should know the importance of teamwork.12.What is the main idea of the passage?A.The importance of music.B.The importance of music education.C.Ways to learn music well.D.Skills music students should have.DAs a Fulbright(富布莱特法案基金)scholar at Yale, I wanted very much to get some individual help from some famous professors, but their office-hours were only once a week and there were always students waiting outside. At first, I was too polite to get their help. Then I realized that Chinese politeness does not work in this society. I needed to be aggressive to get what I wanted. I also noticed that Chinese students or Asian students were very polite in class while American students often interrupted the professor, asking questions and dominating the discussion. The Chinese students were not as aggressive as American students.I was impressed by the role o f the professor in the class. The professor didn’t act as an authority, giving final conclusions, but as a researcher looking for answers to questions together with the students. One linguistic feature of his interacting with his students was that he used many modal verbs-far more than I did in Beiwai. When answering questions, he usually said: “this is my personal opinion and it could be wrong. It would be a good idea if you could read the book I mentioned the other day.” Or,“ You may find the book I recommended helpful.” Or,“You could be right, but you might find this point of view also interesting.” When making comments on students’ performances, the professor usually said:” It might have been much clearer if you had taken in some of the ideas we discusse d earlier this semester.”In China, authorities are always supposed to give wise decisions and correct directions. Therefore students always expect the professor to give an answer to the question. I still remember how annoyed they were when foreign teachers did not provide such an answer. Their expectations from authorities are much higher than those of American students. Once the Chinese students got the answer, they were sure about it. That is why they make far more certain statement than American students. That is why Chinese students find it difficult to use modal verbs because the function of modal verbs is to provide room for negotiation and different ideas.13. The American professors use many modal verbs because they want to______.A. argue with their studentsB. be more sure about their answersC. express their ideas more clearlyD. develop their students’ own way of thinking14. Which of the following statements best expresses the author’s idea?A. Chinese professors can always give correct answer to the question.B. American professors are not responsible since they don’t give students answers.C. American education produces aggressive students.D. Education in China is not helpful in developing students’ creativity.15. Which of the following methods did the author mainly employ in developing the article?A. Comparison and contrast.B. Cause and effect.C. Giving examples.D. Description.16. What is the author’s attitude towards education in U.S.?A. PositiveB. NegativeC. NeutralD. Unsure二、完形填空(每小题1.5分,共30分)Are you a man or a mouse? 2020-2021学年高中英语 单元综合检测2(含解析)牛津译林版必修1

单元综合检测(二)Ⅰ。

阅读理解(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)ALiving and dealing with kids can be a tough job these days, but living and dealing with parents can be even tougher. If I have learned anything in my 16 years,it is that communication is very important, both when you disagree and when you get along。

With any relationship, you need to let other persons know how you are feeling。

If you are not able to communicate, you drift apart(疏远)。

When you are mad at your parents,or anyone else, not talking to them doesn't solve anything。

Communication begins with the concerns of another. It means that you can’t just come home from school,go up to your room and ignore everyone.Even if you just say “Hi”,and see how their day was for five minutes,it is better than nothing。

If you looked up the word “communication" in a dictionary,it would say “the exchange of ideas, the conveyance(表达)of information, correspondence (通信),means of communication: a letter or a message”.To maintain (保持) a good relationship, you must keep communication strong.Let people know how you feel, even if it's just by writing a note. When dealing with parents, you always have to make them feel good about how they are doing as a parent。

Then we can start to invite people to dinner in small numbers next month.”So Mrs.Harris said,“Yes,I'll invite all our friends here to a big party on 5th December.”“How many will that be?” Mr.Harris asked,“Don't invite too many.”Mrs.Harris was beginning to write the invitations when her husband saw that she was writing,“Party: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.”“That isn't very nice,is it?” he said.“You're telling our guests that they must go at 8:30.” So Mrs.Harris just wrote “Party: 6:30 p.m.”A lot of guests came, and they all had a good time,so they did not go home at 8:30.In fact they were still there at midnight when the door bell rang and a policeman arrived. He said,“You must stop making a noise, because someone has complained(抱怨).”Mr.Harris said he did not want to quarrel with the policeman,so everyone went home. They were sorry to have to go.When Mr.and Mrs.Harris were alone again, she said to him,“That was a surprise, wasn't it? Though the fact that married women work outside the homes has become a social trend, many people still expect mothers to stay home until their children are two or three years old. In my opinion, it's unfair to deprive(剥夺) mothers of their right to keep working only for the reason of childcare.Women also need a sense of achievement just like men. Working women often find it difficult to give up the chance of selffulfillment(自我实现) and go back home to play the traditional role. The times that women should stay at home passed and we should not neglect(忽视) mother's desire to seek further goals outside the home.Besides, taking care of children is both parents' responsibility(责任) rather than only mothers'. Children belong to both the father and the mother. So it is unreasonable to ask mothers to give up their jobs for childcare because it is also fathers' duty.Practically speaking, working mothers can help improve family finances. Though there'll be extra expense for childcare service, working mothers have a steady income to help the family. Therefore, mothers' working outside is good for the family, especially to those lowincome ones.In a word, to expect mothers to put childcare before everything is not practical in today's society. Only if fathers and mothers cooperate can the problem of childcare be solved.Title:51.________mothers52.________ Whether working women keep working or53.________the jobs to look after children54.________expectation Mothers should stay home until children are two or three years old.The author's55.________A mother has right to 56.________Women need a sense of achievement just like men.Taking care of children is 57.________Mothers can help 58.________ the family.59.________ Parents' 60.________ is the solution to this problem.Section B(10 marks)(2013•郴州一中高一上期中)Have you ever stayed in a hotel? Most Chinese hotels often provide guests with things like disposable(一次性的) toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and slippers. Many guests like the idea because they don't have to bring their own. But, if you travel to Beijing, remember to bring your own things. Starting from June, some hotels in Beijing will no longer provide guests with these disposables. They want to ask people to use less disposable things. Many disposable things are made of plastic, not easy to rot away. People throw them away after using them only once. It is a waste of natural resources and is very bad for the environment. Do you know, one Chinese person makes as much as 400kg of waste a year! Most of that waste comes from disposable things. In Beijing, people throw away about 19,000 tons of plastic bags and 1,320 tons of plastic lunch bowls every year! Plastic can take between 100 and 400 years to break down. So the less plastic we throw out, the better. So, wherever you travel, bring your own things and use them again and again. At home and school, you can also do something to make our world a better place. Try to use daily necessities(日用品) once more. Use cloth shopping bags, not plastic ones. After using a plastic bag, wash it out and let it dry. Then you can use it over and over again. Do not use paper cups. At your school canteen, use your own bowl and chopsticks instead of disposable ones.61.Please list at least 4 disposable things mentioned in the passage. (No more than 5 words)________________________________________________________________ ________62.What will happen in some hotels in Beijing starting from June according to the passage?(No more than 9 words) ________________________________________________________________ ________63.Why is it bad to throw disposables away after using them only once?(No more than 15 words)________________________________________________________________ ________64.How can we be more environmentally friendly when we are in our canteen?(No more than 11 words)________________________________________________________________ ________Section C(25 marks)(2013•西安八校高一联考)假如你是李华,下面是你的美国笔友Lee给你的Email:Dear Li Hua,I am really upset at present.I have no friends here to talk to.At lunch break, nobody likes to share a table with me.I am really puzzled. And I can't understand why.I need your advice.Thank you.Lee请你根据所给材料、写作要点和要求给Lee回复一封电子邮件。

译林版选择性必修第一册unit2专项综合练Ⅰ.阅读理解AMusic is a language which speaks to everyone—from the day we were born,we hear music of some kind of our lives. But there are as many different kinds of music as there are different languages, and it is impossible to describe them all. Here are just a few well-known types.Classical music is serious Western European music from the Middle Ages to the present (1500 to today) and it was often written for a large orchestra(管弦乐队),or for a small group of players. Many instruments can be used.A lot of music was also written to be sung—as opera.Classical music is very popular and schools often teach this type of music.Jazz developed in the Southern States of North America at the beginning of the 20th century. The black people of these states, who were originally slaves from Africa, had their own rhythms(节奏).Jazz brought classical music and African rhythms together.Blues was originally black country music from the Southern States at the beginning of the 20th century. It is slow, usually sad music which is often sung by one person with a guitar.Rhythm and Blues (R&B) developed from the Blues in America in the 1940s.It became faster and more complex and used more instruments,e.g.saxophone(萨克斯),guitar,piano and drums. The music was often about city life and white musicians started playing it as well.Musicians in the 1950s developed Rock and Roll from Rhythm and Blues and it became popular with young people. It spread to Europe in the 1960s and is now known in most countries.A lot of pop music comes from Rock and Roll.Pop music developed from Rock and Roll in America,Britain and Europe in the 1960s and is now in every country. The name is used for most commercial music, which we can buy on records and hear on “pop radio”.It is usually played by groups who often use electronic instruments and make videos to go with their records.1.A classical piece of music which is sung in a theater is called .A.opera B.Rock and RollC.jazz D.blues2.Which of the following started in the Southern States of North America?A.Rhythm and Blues. B.Jazz.C.Rock and Roll. D.Pop music.3.When did Rock and Roll become popular with the young?A.In the 1950s. B.In the 1940s.C.In the 1960s. D.In the 1970s.4.What is the text mainly about?A.How music developed in America.B.How music spread around the world.C.Music—an international language.D.Some well-known types of music and their history.答案ABADBListening to music is considered a good thing for adults.Indeed it is.Scientific studies have proven it.Music has so many good effects on our body, mind and mood that this world will certainly not be a good place without music. Then,is music good for children? Some parents think so and let their children learn or listen to music. But some parents don’t know the importance of music to children. Here are some reasons why music is important to children.First, music is good for children’s intelligence.Studies have proved that children who learn music are likely to have higher intelligence than those who have no interest in or dislike music. This is because the brain gets stimulated(刺激) by the rhythm and tone of music.Music also has soothing(抚慰的) effect on children and helps remove their stress.Today’s children are under a lot of stress from schoolwork.Being under too much stress impairs children’s health.Luckily, listening to music can help them feel better.Music can improve children’s moods. Some children are sad by nature. They seem to be lost in their own thoughts and don’t take interest in their surroundings. In such cases,a method known as “music therapy” comes to their rescue. It changes their moods and places a new kind of spirit in them.Music is also a universal language that children ought to learn. Our world has become a global village.People are getting more and more interested in other cultures and countries.Music can help them in understanding foreign cultures. Now we can say that music is very important not only to adults but also to children. So children should be encouraged to learn music or listen to music.5.By mentioning scientific studies in Paragraph 1,the author wants to show .
