我独自站在爷爷的坟前，把一封信点燃，信里写有他的真实病情经过——生前我们一直不能说出口，但总要有个交代，于是我闷骚般的用这种方式。盯着火苗，我静静的思考着过去的一些得失，还有他去世前对我的叮嘱。
我没有时间。
我还要学习诊断学、医学影像学（本学期的两大临床桥梁学科），还有一堆杂七杂八的学科事务，我们的生活节律本来就是每天上课后泡在自习室，没有专门的休闲时光，只有珍贵的自习室。
怎么办？只能硬从专业里拿出时间了，至于后果，我顾不了那么多。
每天早晨课前大约有半个多小时，可以练听力，走在去教室的路上也可以，晚上九点以后开始背单词，其间穿插着做《高级听力教程》的练习，检验听力的效果。
所以，高级口译不是短期内练成的，一年的时间只是个备考时间，前期大量的知识积累必不可少，比我早半年过高口的武文亮学长，总是谦称自己运气好，弄得我也真有点相信，但后来聊天时，其言谈间透出的知识容量，让我脊柱发麻，实在可怕。
在我决定向高口进军时，网络上对其恐怖程度的描述让我看了很没自信，在开始啃那些资料时，根本没想过成功通过这回事，但其间的转机，真的不是运气。

一、英译汉——词要准，句要顺在课堂上，笔者把英译汉部分的讲解分为两部分（词法层面和句法层面），进而引申出各种常用的翻译技巧，而所有这些技巧的目的只有一个，即帮助考生翻译出较高质量的译文。
所谓“较高质量”，笔者个人以为，基本上就是“词准，句顺”四字。
能在口译考试的英译汉部分做到这两点，过关已经是囊中之物。
“词准”含有两层意思，一是准确，二是精准。
前者是低要求，即不能产生误译；后者是高要求，即在准确的基础上力求精致。
下面试举两例具体说明。
例1：Median income fell last year from $52,163 to $50,303, wiping out a decade's worth of gains to hit the lowest level since 1997.（2010年3月中口英译汉）在翻译句中的“median income”时，在当时的试卷中出现了五花八门的译文，甚至几大培训机构给出的参考译文也产生冲突。
究其原因，就是对median一词没有准确理解和把握。
在众多误译中，最常见的一个是“平均家庭收入”。
其实，median income的准确翻译应是“家庭收入中位数”。
在数学里，平均数（average number或mean number）和中位数（median）是两个完全不同的概念。
以下维基百科网站对median income和mean income的英文解释，引用了美国人口调查局（U.S. Census Bureau）的定义，原文如下：Median income is the amount which divides the income distribution into two equal groups, half having income above that amount, and half having income below that amount.Mean income (average) is the amount obtained by dividing the total aggregate income of a group by the number of units in that group.从上述两个不同的定义中可以清楚地看到，前者（median income）是中位数，后者（mean/ income）是平均数。
