But it is only in the modern world does star worship become common among people, especially teenagers. Many people get crazy about their favorite stars: they admire them, they imitate them, and their world seems to be filled with them. And extreme examples of star worship are quite easy to be found: from the fanatic fan of John Lennon who took the superstar’s life, to the girl who committed suicide after knowing the news that Jacky Chan had got married.Here the questions are: Why? What leads to the frenzy of stars? And what should we do when worshiping our idols?Although the phenomenon appears to be complicated, yet it is actually quite easy to understand. There has already been substantial analysis and viewpoints on this issue, but for my own part, anyway, I would summarize the reasons of the phenomenon of star worship into three major reasons. First and foremost, we worship stars out of the human nature to admire brilliant,successful people. Stars, as the word itself suggests, are an extremely shining and eye-catching group who enjoy tremendous fame and, usually, wealth. Thus, people tend to regard them as their idols, and somehow absorb inspirations from them. Another reason, as I have observed, is that in the modern world, amusement has become an integral part in people’s daily life. Stars in different fields——music, movie, sports, etc——altogether provide people with a variety of entertainments. People in the first place enjoy their performance, and then the stars themselves. Therefore, people gradually become fond of or even crazy about stars. Moreover, developments of science and technology, specifically, information technology, make it much easier as well as faster to set stars. Many stars, such as Jeremy Lin, rise to fame just overnight, which wouldn’t have been possible without the advance of science and technology.Many people tend to criticize the phenomenon of star worship, citing the examples mentioned at the beginning of my speech. However, star worship itself is actually innocent. Its outcome only depends on how the fans perform. If a fan goes extreme when chasing a star, then it will certainly does harm, not only to him/herself but perhaps also to others. But if a fan keeps rational and derives inspiration and motivation from his/her favorite star,then the outcome will surely be pleasant. There are plenty of examples for good star worship. Sun Yat-sen, the great revolutionist in Chinese history, worshipped Hung Hsiu-ch'uan.; Lebron James, now the best basketball player in NBA, in his childhood worshipped Michael Jordan; etc.Personally speaking, I am in favor of star worship. And I also have my own idols. Marie was the first woman ever to receive this high honor. When she won, many people were shocked that a woman could achieve such an amazing accomplishment!Sadly, just a few years later, Pierre was tragically killed after being struck by a horse-drawn carriage. Despite this horrible loss, Marie persevered and continued her brilliant scientific work. In1911, she became the first person in history to win a second Nobel Prize, this time in Chemistry, for discovering the elements radium and polonium.Marie's work allowed radium to be used in new ways, such as treating cancer patients with radioactive rays. Unfortunately, while experimenting with radioactive materials in her lab, Marie was exposed to high levels of radiation which made her very ill. In those days, the risks and need for safety protocols were not well understood.Marie Curie passed away in 1934 from health issues caused by her radiation exposure. But her monumental scientific achievements are still studied and celebrated today. Thank you.篇4My Hero: Neil ArmstrongHi everyone! Today I want to talk to you about someone who is a huge hero of mine - Neil Armstrong. He was the firstperson ever to walk on the moon! Can you imagine how amazing that must have been?I first learned about Neil Armstrong in school when we were studying the Apollo space missions. My teacher showed us videos of the Saturn V rocket blasting off from Cape Canaveral in 1969 with Neil and the other astronauts on board. It gave me goosebumps seeing that massive rocket taking off towards the moon!Neil was the mission commander for the historic Apollo 11 flight. After traveling for a few days, the lunar module called "Eagle" separated from the main spacecraft. Neil and Buzz Aldrin climbed aboard the little Eagle craft and started descending towards the lunar surface.Things got really tense when the computer was showing they would run out of fuel before landing. Neil had to take over manually and pick a landing spot. With only seconds of fuel left, he set Eagle down in an area called the Sea of Tranquility. Neil radioed back those famous words: "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed!" Everyone on Earth went wild with excitement!A few hours later, at 10:56pm on July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first human in history to step onto thesurface of the moon. He climbed down the ladder and declared "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." His footprint was permanently marked on the powdery moon soil. How incredible is that?!Neil and Buzz spent over 21 hours walking around and conducting experiments on the lunar surface. They planted an American flag, took photos, collected rock samples, and even managed to have a live television broadcast watched by millions back on Earth. Just two guys exploring another world! After over a day on the moon, the ascent engines fired up and they rejoined the main spacecraft to begin their journey home.When the crew finally splashed down safely in the Pacific Ocean on July 24th, the whole world rejoiced at their unbelievable achievement. Neil Armstrong was instantly a global hero and celebrity. Imagine how proud his wife Janet and their two little sons must have felt! The first moon walkers went on a huge tour around the world to celebrate the successful mission.Although Neil Armstrong lived a very private life after his moon mission, he will always be remembered as one of the bravest and most famous men in all of human history. His "one small step" showed that humans can achieve anything we set ourminds to. I have so much respect and admiration for his courage, skill as a pilot, and spirit of exploration.To get an idea of what it would be like walking on the moon, I like to go out on a nice night and look up at the full moon shining brightly in the sky. I stare at those craters and wonder if I can see the spot where Neil first stepped onto the surface. It's both beautiful and extraordinary when you realize people have actually traveled there. I hope one day in the future that I or my kids will be able to visit the moon too!Neil Armstrong sadly passed away in 2012, but his legacy will literally last forever. The plaque attached to the lunar module says it best: "Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon. July 1969 A.D. We came in peace for all Mankind." Malala showed incredible bravery in standing up for the rights of girls despite the threats from the Taliban.On October 9th, 2012, while Malala was riding a school bus with friends, a Taliban gunman boarded the bus and shot her in the head. She was just 15 years old. Malala was gravely injured and had to be flown to a hospital in another country to have life-saving surgeries.Can you imagine how scary that must have been? Getting shot simply because you wanted to go to school? I don't think I would have had the courage that Malala showed. She was willing to risk her life for the basic human right of every girl to get an education.After recovering from her injuries, Malala kept fighting harder than ever for girls' education rights around the world. She gave powerful speeches at places like the United Nations and Oxford University. She started theThe Malala Fund, which has helped over 130,000 girls go to school.In 2014, at age 17, Malala became the youngest person ever to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. hello！every classmate! i am very glad that i can stand here today, my english isn’t very well, but i have participated in this speech , the reason is that this topic attracts me very much —— my most favorite star!
as everyone knows, it is jay that i am the most favorite! i mention more than once , i believe all classmates know now . why do i like him ? why am i fascinated for him? in fact the reason is very simple, his music makes me move!
i remember listening to his song for the first time, it is the summer vacation of grade one at the junior middle school . i have bought a tape of his, write the homework while listening to every night. like this, day after day. slowly, i find his music really very good, really have appeal very much! his pop has a kind of characteristic that can not say, the person of he has a kind of glamour that can not say too!
