The Importance of Reading
Chinese educators have realized the importance of reading for a long time. Some educators proposed to establish a National Reading Day in 2003. They stressed that people should read good books especially the classics. People learn to be grateful, responsible and cooperative, and these fundamental qualities are just what education wants to develop. Reading is particularly significant for the primary and middle school students. If they do not develop an interest in reading during that crucial period, it will be more difficult cultivate their reading habit in the future.
