Thank you, Headmaster. It is such a treat to be back here at St Andrew’s. I absolutely loved my time here; they weresome of my happiest years, which makes it so incredibly special to be here today. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that when I had to leave, I told my mother that I was going tocome back to be a teacher. While that didn’t quite happen, I was thrilled to have been askedback today on St. Andrew’s Day.It was while I was here at school that I realised my love of sport. Sport has been a huge part ofmy life, and I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunities I had to get outside and play in suchwonderful open spaces –though sadly there was nothing quite as glamorous as this in my time!I hope that you all enjoy playing sport here as much as I used to, and make the most of theseincredible facilities. Good evening.Like many of you here tonight, I remember visiting the Natural History Museum as a child, and being inspired with a love of nature. And now, as a parent myself, I am experiencing the joy all over again with my own children, who adore coming here, and it’s not just to see the T-Rex – mind you.Who could fail to be inspired standing here in this wonderful hall. It is so fitting to see the ocean now taking centre stage, with many other marine specimens as star attractions in this splendid Hintze Hall.As we are increasingly learning, marine conservation is a global challenge, for all nations and for all people.I, personally, have always been in awe of the sea. As someone who has been fortunate to experience scuba diving, something I love doing, and seeing the incredible marine life,I have come to care deeply about the under-life waters and our conservation of our oceans.Sir David Attenborough has famously talked about thefact that people will not protect what they don’t first careabout, and will not care about what they have never experienced. This idea lies at the heart of the new Hintze Hall design. AsI stand here tonight, I have every confidence that this spectacular display will go a long way – not only to inspirea new generation, but it will also encourage us all to thinkabout and care for our marine life. Our Blue Whale, Hope, at the heart of the museum willhelp the millions of visitors that come here each year experience the wonders of our oceans. So, as Patron of the Natural History Museum, it givesme great pleasure to declare the new Hintze Hall open.I now have the honour of introducing a great friend ofthis Museum, and somebody who has perhaps done more thananybody else on the planet to inspire a love of nature – SirDavid Attenborough.。

A view of his - that I share - is that through teamwork, so much can be achieved. What you have all achieved here is extraordinary. You as a community have built the Treehouse; a group of people who have made every effort to support and help each other. When I first visited the Hospice in Milton, I had a pre-conceived idea as to what to expect. Far from being a clinical, depressing place for sick children, it was a home. Most importantly, it was a family home, a happy place of stability, support and care. It was a place of fun.Today I have seen again that the Treehouse is all about family and fun. For many, this is a home from home - a lifeline, enabling families to live as normally as possible, during a very precious period of time. What you do is inspirational, it is a shining example of the support and the care that is delivered, not just here, but in the children’s hospice movement at large, up and down the country. The feelings you inspire - feelings of love and of hope - offer a chance to families to live a life they never thought could be possible. So thank you again for inviting me here today. I feel enormously proud to be part of East Anglia’s Children’sHospices and to see the wonderful life-changing work that you do. Thank you.

00:0004:59As I look around the room, I see so many friendly faces: friends who have shared with me their knowledge, and who have answered my questions patiently whilst I’ve interrogated them in my endeavour to learn about this complex range of issues.· Academic colleagues who have shown me their ground-breaking research into the causes of perinatal and post-natal depression, and how they are addressing these in the clinic;· Those who I have visited over the years who provide crucial links within the community, and whose services help families with essential parenting support and guidance;·and other wonderful organisations which have done so much to improve support for the emotional wellbeing of children in their schools.I could name so many of you, but I’m utterly grateful to you all for giving your time and your wisdom so freely. We all know just how important childhood is and how the early years shape us for life. We also know how negative the downstream impact can be, if problems emerging at the youngest age are overlooked, or ignored. It is therefore vital that we nurture children through this crucial, early period. But as we’ve heard, at what stage in a child’s development could we, or should we, intervene, to break the inter-generational cycle of disadvantage? The more I have heard, the more I am convinced that the answer has to be: ‘early’ and ‘the earlier, the better’.In fact, it would seem that we cannot intervene early enough. We do need mental health support in primary schools before the biological changes and academic pressures of adolescence kick in.We also need a focus on parenting and family support, so that parents feel able to get their children ‘school-ready’, and are confident that they themselves can cope with the mental and emotional needs of their own children. We need to highlight how important it is to support mothers, too, potentially before they even give birth. They need to be aware how vulnerable they might be and, critically, know where they can find help for themselves, as well as for their babies and toddlers. But potentially, we could start to look even earlier, by teaching parenting and relationship skills to teenagers, to get the next generation of parents child-ready, well before they have to put these skills into practice. After listening to those working in this complex area, my own vie w is that children’s experiences in their early years are fundamental. They lay the foundations not only for healthy outcomes during the teenage years, but also for adulthood.Addressing the issues only when they take root later in life results in huge detriment; detriment to the healthcare, educationand social support systems in our country; but, perhaps more importantly, detriment to future generations over the long term.In 2011, Graham Allen, who, I think, is here with us today, wrote a report for Government on the need for early intervention.I hope, Graham, you don’t mind me quoting from your report, in which you referred to the cycle of deprivation and dysfunction, from generation to generation. There, you said that, “If we intervene early enough, we can give children a vital social and emotional foundation, which will help to keep them happy, healthy and achieving throughout their lives and, above all, equip them to raise children of their own.”I could not agree more.Because these a re ‘lifetime’ issues, they require a very long-term perspective. But these issues are also complex andmulti-sided, so they need integrated, collective approaches to create real impact. This is what I am so keen to explore. We are here today because we all believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life.I have therefore entrusted The Royal Foundation…under the leadership of Aida, to gather a group of experts to develop the thinking in this critical area: experts and partners to build upon existing work, and to look at developing sustainable solutions which will help deliver our shared ambitions.Providing children in their earliest years with social and emotional security builds strong foundations which last a lifetime.I really do feel so passionately about the importance of early intervention, and that, while by working on new approaches together, we can make a real difference for generations to come.Thank you.。

凯特王妃在英国国家肖像馆肖像慈善晚宴英语演讲稿
凯特王妃在英国国家肖像馆肖像慈善晚宴英语演讲稿Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests,It is an honor for me to stand before you tonight at the Portrait Gala, a beautiful celebration of art and philanthropy. Tonight, we gather in the magnificent halls of the National Portrait Gallery, a place where portraits of our nation's most remarkable figures come to life.Tonight, I am reminded of the incredible power that a portrait holds. It is not just a depiction of a person, but a window into their soul, their story, and their impact on our world. Each stroke of the brush, each carefully crafted detail, captures a moment in time that will forever be remembered. The National Portrait Gallery is more than just a collection of paintings. It is a treasure trove of inspiration and a testament to the remarkable individuals who have shaped our society. It is a place of discovery, where we can gaze upon the faces of past heroes and heroines and be inspired to make a difference in our own lives.Tonight, we come together not only to appreciate art, but also to make a difference. The proceeds from tonight's Gala will go towards the National Portrait Gallery's Inspiring People project, which aims to renovate and expand the Gallery, ensuring that future generations can continue to be inspired by its collection.Art has the remarkable ability to transcend boundaries and bring people together. It reminds us of our shared humanity and our collective responsibility to make the world a better place. Through the Inspiring People project, the National Portrait Gallery will be able to reach even more people, regardless of their background or circumstances, and provide them with the opportunity to be inspired by art.I am incredibly proud to be a Patron of the National Portrait Gallery and to support its mission of promoting and preserving our cultural heritage. But none of this would be possible without the generosity of individuals like you, who understand the importance of art and its ability to shape lives.Tonight, as we enjoy this wonderful Gala, let us remember the words of Pablo Picasso: \。
