第二课时Lesson 44Georgia Plays Basketball

环节1 新课导入

Lead in by discussing the following questions:

Do you have basketball team in your school?

What makes you unique in your class?

What team have you ever played against?

Show some pictures of different talents.Let the students discuss the questions in groups.Then present their results in front of the class.The styles are different.They can be dialogues or reports.

设计意图:以学生感兴趣的问题开始新课,吸引学生的兴趣。

环节2

1.Listen to the tape and fill in the blanks with the words you hear.

(1) Georgia has been in Canada for________and a half years.

(2) Playing________is Georgia’s main talent.

(3) Georgia’s parents want her to study________.

2.Read the passage and answer the following questions:

(1)Where does Georgia come from?

(2)What does Georgia’s sister do?

(3)What was the final store of the basketball game?

3.Make sentences with the language points: come from,play against,be proud of

4.Introduce what you know about talents.Work in groups.At the same time,the teacher walks around the classroom to see if they have any questions.

5.Discuss for a while,then let some students come to the front to show their introductions.

6.Listen to the tape and finish off Exercise 1 in class.Read the lesson and finish Exercise 2.

7.Work in pairs and talk about different hobbies.

8. Finish off Exercise 3 in “Let’s Do It!”.

(1)almost作副词,相当于nearly,表示“几乎,差不多”。例如:It’s almost time to go. 差不多是

(2)be over意思是“结束;完结”。例如:Their relationship is over. 他们的关系已经结束了。

(3)s core作名词,表示“(比赛中)得分,分数”。例如:The final score was 4 to 3.最后比分是4比

3. score还可以作动词,表示“得分”。例如:She scored 120 in the IQ test. 她在智商测试中得了120

分。
