There were six eggs, which meant six little ducklings to teach to swim. One sunny spring morning, the first egg began to crack..'Tap, tap, tap,' went the duckling inside, trying to get out. Mother Duck watched as the egg cracked open and out popped a fluffy duckling."One," said Mother Duck proudly. The next day, the second egg hatched and out popped another fluffy duckling."Two," said Mother Duck proudly. On the third day, duckling number three hatched."That leaves just three," said Mother Duck.On the fourth and fifth day, ducklings number four and five hatched."That leaves just one," said Mother Duck, as she settled on her nest. Her ducklings gathered around her.But on the sixth day nothing happened. Nor on the seventh."How strange," said Mother Duck on the seventh day. "It should have hatched by now."One of the farmyard chickens wandered by."Oh," she said. "You're still there I thought you'd be on thepond by now.""It's this last egg," said Mother Duck. "It hasn't hatched yet.""Let me see," said the chicken. "Well no wonder. It looks like a goose egg to me. You'll be here for a long time.""Oh dear," said Mother Duck. "I have my five little ducklings to teach to swim. What shall I do? I can't leave it.""Aah well," said the chicken, and she wandered off.The goose heard that one of her eggs was in Mother Duck's nest."Is it true?" she asked, as she puffed up to the nest. "Do you have one of my eggs?""I think so," said Mother Duck. They both looked in the nest."Huh," said the goose. "That's not mine. It looks more like that absent-minded turkey's egg."As they looked, they suddenly heard the faint tapping. The shell was breaking."We'll soon see," said the goose. They watched and waited."Oh," said the goose."Oh, dear," said Mother Duck, as she looked at the sixth duckling. It looked most strange, it was straggly and grey where its brothers and sisters were fluffy and yellow. It was also bigger than them.It quacked as it saw its mother."Well, if it's a turkey," said the goose, "it won't swim."Mother Duck hurried her ducklings to the pond. She waddled in and listened. Splash! Splish! Splosh! Splash! Splish! She turned and looked. All six ducklings followed her in the water."Oh, well," she said. "He can swim. He is definitely not a turkey."The sixth duckling was very good at swimming, and was soon swimming better than his brothers and sisters.Back at the farmyard, things did not go well for the little duckling. Everyone called him an ugly duckling. The chickens laughed at him, the turkeys chased him and the geese hissed at him.Soon even his brothers and sisters would not talk to him, but when his mother turned away, he was very sad. He decided to leave the farmyard. One sunny morning, he walked out of the farmyard and didn't look back. He wandered away, looking for somewhere new to live. When he'd been walking a while he came to a large lake. There were some ducks swimming on it.He swam up to them."May I stay on this lake?" he asked."Of course," said the ducks. "We'll be moving on soon. Why don't you join us, if you're on your own?""Thank you," said the duckling. The duckling stayed on the lake and day by day he grew bigger. One day he looked up to see some large white birds flying gracefully over the lake."They're beautiful," he whispered, and then sighed. "I wonder who they are?"One day the ducks came to see him."It's autumn, and we're going now," they told him, "join us if you want to."Some ducks began to fly up to leave, but suddenly loud bangs were heard. Two of the ducks fell from the sky. Others flew up in fright, and more fell as more bangs were heard. The duckling ran and hid. He found a bush and stayed there until the noise had died down. When it was quiet he sadly left the lake and headed away over the fields. He came to another lake and there he stayed. Winter was coming and he was alone. As the days grew colder, he found that it was harder to find food. The one morning he woke and found that he couldn't move. The lake had frozen and he was stuck in the ice. The day passed and the duckling was giving up hope of being found. But late in the afternoon a man walking his dog saw him. He broke the ice, and the duckling was free. He ran across the ice and hid. He didn't dare to go on the ice again.Winter passed, spring came, and the ice melted. The duckling stretched his wings and found that they were strong enough to carry him. He flew upon and over the lake, high above the trees and fields. He should have been very happy, but he was not because he felt so lonely.A few days later, he looked up to see the large white birds he had seen in the autumn. They looked beautiful as they landed on the lake. The duckling admired their glossy white feathers and long necks. He swan over to take a closer look at them."Please," he said shyly. "Will you tell me who you are. You are so beautiful and I am so ugly. I've never seen anybody like you.""Ugly," cried one of the white birds. "How silly!""We're swans," said another. "Why do you think you're ugly? Look at yourself in the water."The duckling looked and caught sight of his own reflection. He gasped in surprise, for instead of seeing a fat, grey duckling he saw a swan with a long elegant neck and a bright orange bill. "I'm like you," he cried. "I'm a swan, too.""Definitely," said the swan, with a smile."Does that mean I can stay with you, and not live alone?""Of course," said the swans. At that moment two children ran down to the lake. "Ooh, look!" they cried. "The swans are back and there's a new one, too. Isn't he beautiful!"The ugly duckling stretched his neck and ruffled his feathers with pride. Then it was time to go flying with all of the other swans and, as the duckling took off from the lake, he could see his new beautiful reflection in the water.。

1Long, long ago, in the days when fairies, witches, giants and ogres still visited the earth, there lived a king who reigned over a great and beautiful country. He was married to a wife whom he dearly loved, and had two most promising children--a son called Asmund, and a daughter who was named Signy. The king and queen were very anxious to bring their children up well, and the young prince and princess were taught everything likely to make them clever and accomplished. They lived at home in their father's palace, and he spared no pains to make their lives happy. Prince Asmund dearly loved all outdoor sports and an open-air life, and from his earliest childhood he had longed to live entirely in the forest close by. After many arguments and entreaties he succeeded in persuading the king to give him two great oak trees for his very own. 'Now,' said he to his sister, 'I will have the trees hollowed out, and then I will make rooms in them and furnish them so that I shall be able to live out in the forest.' 'Oh, Asmund!' exclaimed Signy, 'what a delightful idea! Do let me come too, and live in one of your trees. I will bring all my pretty things and ornaments, and the trees are so near home we shall be quite safe in them.' Asmund, who was extremely fond of his sister, readily consented, and they had a very happy time together, carrying over all their pet treasures, and Signy's jewels and other ornaments, and arranging them in the pretty little rooms inside the trees. Unfortunately sadder days were to come. A war with another country broke out, and the king had to lead his army against their enemy. During his absence the queen fell ill, and after lingering for some time she died, to the great grief of herchildren. They made up their minds to live altogether for a time in their trees, and for this purpose they had provisions enough stored up inside to last them a year. Now, I must tell you, in another country a long way off, there reigned a king who had an only son named Ring. Prince Ring had heard so much about the beauty and goodness of Princess Signy that he determined to marry her if possible. So he begged his father to let him have a ship for the voyage, set sail with a favourable wind, and after a time landed in the country where Signy lived. The prince lost no time in setting out for the royal palace, and on his way there he met such a wonderfully lovely woman that he felt he had never seen such beauty in all his life. He stopped her and at once asked who she was. 'I am Signy, the king's daughter,' was the reply. Then the prince inquired why she was wandering about all by herself, and she told him that since her mother's death she was so sad that whilst her father was away she preferred being alone. 2A little rabbit is picking mushrooms in a forest. When a star falls, a soul is going up to God!
Granny, granny, Take me away! Please! Take me away. I’m so cold, so hungry, so lonely. I need you. I need you desperately. Take me to a place where there is no more cold, no more hungry, no more sad. For you are with me. For the God is with us. Take me away!
The girl pulled one match out and struck it on the wall. The bright match light Brightened the girl’s face and warmed her heart. In the wonderful moment, she began to dream. And now she was in front ofell by. She took out all the matches and struck them all. She hastily struck a whole bundle of matches. And her old grandma appeared.
Granny?
She stretched out her feet. Just then, the blaze went out. And the stove vanished. She struck a new match, and something wonderful happened. This time she was among her own family. She felt so warm and happy. She was just ready to have the delicious chicken when the blaze went out again. And all vanished just like before.

Ugly DucklingThe countryside was lovely. It was summer. The wheat was golden and the oats were still green. The hay was stacked in the low-lying meadows. There lay great woods around the fields and meadows. There were deep lakes in the midst of the woods. In the sunniest spot stood an old mansion surrounded by a deep moat. Great leaves grew from the vines on the walls of the house right down to the water's edge. Some of the leaves were so big that a child could use them as an umbrella. In the depths of a forest a duck was sitting in her nest. Her little ducklings were about to be hatched. At last one egg after another began to crack." Cheep, cheep!" the ducklings said." Quack, quack!" said the duck. " How big the world is!" said all the young ones. But the biggest egg was still there. And then she settled herself on the nest again."Well, how are you getting on?" said an old duck who came to pay her a visit." This egg is taking such a long time," answered the sitting duck."The shell will not crack, but the others are the finest ducklings. They are like their father.""let me look at the egg which won't crack," said the old duck." You may be sitting on a turkey's egg! I have been cheatedlike that once. Yes. it's a turkey's egg! You had better leave it alone and teach the other children to swim.""I will sit on it a little longer."At last the big egg cracked. How big and ugly the baby was! " That is a very big duckling." she said, " None of the others look like that. Can he be a turkey's chick? I will soon find out. I will make him go into water."The next day the mother duck with her family went down to the moat. She said, and one duckling jumped in after another. The big ugly one swam about with them." No, that is no turkey," she said," Quack, quack! Now come with me and I will take you into the world. Keep close to me all the time. Be careful of the cat!" The first day passed, and everything was fine.Afterwards, matters grew worse and worse. The poor duckling was chased and harassed by all the ducklings because he was very ugly. The ducks bit him, the hens pecked him. and the girl who fed them kicked him aside. Then he ran off and soon came to a great marsh where the wild ducks lived. He was so tired and miserable that he stayed there the whole night. In the morning the wild ducks flew up to see their new friend." You are very ugly," said the wild ducks," but that does not matter to us." He stayed there two whole days . And then two wild geese came. Just at that moment the sound of "Bang! Bang!" was heard, and both the wild geese fell dead among the reeds. It was a terrible shock to the poor duckling.A big dog appeared close beside him. He showed his sharp teeth and went on without touching him."Oh, thank Heaven! I am so ugly that even the dog won't bite me!" sighed the duckling. In the evening he reached a little cottage where an old woman lived with her cat and her hen. Her eyesight was not good, and she thought the duckling was a fat duck. will be rich if I have duck eggs," she said. So she took in the duckling for three weeks, but he laid no eggs. The cat was the master of the house and the hen was the mistress."Can you lay eggs?" asked the hen."No," answered the duckling."Then you had better go out into the wide world," said the cat. So away went the duckling. One evening the sun was just setting when a flock of beautiful large birds appeared out of the bushes. The duckling thought," I've never seen anything so beautiful."They were dazzlingly white with long necks. They were swans. He did not know what the birds were. The winter was so bitterly cold that the duckling swam about in the water to keep himself from freezing. The sun began to shine warmly again. The larks were singing and beautiful spring had come. Then, all at once, the duckling raised his wings and they flapped with much greater strength than before. Before he knew it, he found himself in a large garden where the apple trees were in full blossom and long branches of lilacs overhung the shores of the lake.Just in front of him he saw three beautiful white swans swimming towards him."I will fly to them and they will hack me to pieces because I am so ugly. But it doesn't matter. I would rather be killed by them than be bitten by the ducks or pecked by the hens." So he flewinto the water and swam towards the swans. They saw him and darted towards him."Kill me! Oh, kill me!" said the poor duckling, and he waited for his death bowing his head towards the water. But what did he see in the clear water? He was no longer a dark gray ugly bird. He was himself a swan! Some children came into the garden with corn and pieces of bread, which they threw into the water. The smallest child shouted with joy," There is a new one." The other children shouted, "Yes, a new one has come."He said to himself, " I never dreamed that I could be so happy when I was the ugly duckling!"。

#2:Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown(1947)

本书正反映了布朗小姐的“HERE AND NOW”的观点。

She lighted another match, and then she foundherself sitting under a beautiful Christmas-tree.It was larger and more beautifully decoratedthan the one which she had seen through theglass door at the rich merchant's. Thousands oftapers were burning upon the green branches, and colored pictures, like those she had seen inthe show-windows, looked down upon itall. The little one stretched out her hand towardsthem, and the match went out. It was terribly cold and nearly dark on the last evening of the old year, and the snow was fallingfast. In the cold and the darkness, a poor little girl, with bare head and naked feet, roamed throughthe streets. It is true she had on a pair of slippers when she left home, but they were not of much use. They were very large, so large; indeed, that they had belonged to her mother and the poor littlecreature had lost them in running across the street to avoid two carriages that were rolling along at aterrible rate. One of the slippers she could not find, and a boy seized upon the other and ran awaywith it, saying that he could use it as a cradle, when he had children of his own.So the little girl went on with her little naked feet, which were quite red andblue with the cold. In an old apron she carried a number of matches, and hada bundle of them in her hands. No one had bought anything of her thewhole day, nor had any one given here even a penny. Shivering withShe drew one out-"scratch!" how it sputtered as it burnt! It gave a warm, brightlight, like a little candle, as she held her hand over it. It was really a wonderfullight. It seemed to the little girl that she was sitting by a large iron stove, withHow the fire burned! And seemed sobeautifully warm that the child stretched out her feet as if to warm them, when,lo! the flame of the match went out, the stove vanished, and she had only theremains of the half-burnt match in her hand. She rubbed another match on thewall. It burst into a flame, and where its light fell upon the wall it became astransparent as a veil, and she could see into the room. The table was coveredwith a snowy white table-cloth, on which stood a splendid dinner service, and asteaming roast goose, stuffed with apples and dried plums. And what was stillmore wonderful, the goose jumped down from the dish and waddled across thefloor, with a knife and fork in its *, to the little girl. Then the match went out,and there remained nothing but the thick, damp, cold wall before her.cold and hunger, she crept along; poor little child, she looked the picture of misery. The snowflakes fell on her long, fair hair, which hung in curls on her shoulders, butshe regarded them not. Lights were shining from every window, and there was asavory smell of roast goose, for it was New-year's eve- yes, she remembered that.In a corner, between two houses, one of which projected beyond the other, shesank down and huddled herself together. She had drawn her little feet underher, but she could not keep off the cold; and she dared not go home, for shehad sold no matches, and could not take home even a penny of money. Her fatherwould certainly beat her; besides, it was almost as cold at home as here, for theyhad only the roof to cover them, through which the wind howled, although thelargest holes had been stopped up with straw and rags. Her little hands were almostfrozen with the cold. Ah! perhaps a burning match might be some good, if she coulddraw it from the bundle and strike it against the wall, just to warm her fingers. The Christmas lights rose higher and higher, till they looked to her likethe stars in the sky. Then she saw a star fall, leaving behind it a brightstreak of fire. "Some one is dying," thought the little girl, for her oldgrandmother, the only one who had ever loved her, and who was nowdead, had told her that when a star falls, a soul was going up to God.She again rubbed a match on the wall, and the light shone round her;in the brightness stood her old grandmother, clear and shining, yetmild and loving in her appearance. "Grandmother," cried the littleone, "O take me with you; I know you will go away when thematch burns out; you will vanish like the warm stove, the roastgoose, and the large, glorious Christmas-tree." And she madehaste to light the whole bundle of matches, for she wished to keepher grandmother there. And the matches glowed with a light that wasbrighter than the noon-day, and her grandmother had never appearedso large or so beautiful. She took the little girl in her arms, and theyboth flew upwards in brightness and joy far above the earth, wherethere was neither cold nor hunger nor pain, for they were with God.Inthe dawn of morning there lay the poor little one, with pale cheeks andsmiling mouth, leaning against the wall; she had been frozen todeath on the last evening of the year; and the New-year's sun roseand shone upon a little corpse! The child still sat, in thestiffness of death, holding the matches in her hand, one bundle ofwhich was burnt. "She tried to warm herself," said some. No oneimagined what beautiful things she had seen, nor into what glory shehad entered with her grandmother, on New-year's day.。

I love making animal picture books by hand. It's so much fun to draw and color all the different animals. I can use all sorts of materials like paper, markers, and even fabric to make the animals come to life on the pages. It's like creating my own little zoo in a book! When I start making a new animal picture book, I always begin by choosing which animals I want to include. Sometimes I pick animals that I've seen at the zoo or in books, and other times I just choose my favorites. Then I gather all the materials I need, like colorful paper, scissors, and glue. It's like getting ready for a big art project!Once I have everything I need, I start drawing and cutting out the shapes of the animals. I like to make them as realistic as possible, so I pay close attention to their features and colors. Then I use markers and colored pencils to add details and make the animals look really vibrant andalive. It's like bringing them out of the wild and onto the pages of my book. After I finish drawing and coloring all the animals, I start putting them onto the pages of the book. Sometimes I arrange them in groups, like putting all the jungle animals together on one page and all the farm animals on another. Other times I mix them up to create fun and surprising combinations. It's like creating little scenes for the animals to play in.Once all the animals are in place, I add backgrounds and little details to make the pages look even more interesting. I might draw trees and plants for the jungle animals, or fences and barns for the farm animals. It'slike creating a whole world for the animals to live in, right inside the pages of my book. When the book is finally finished, I love flipping through the pages and looking at all the animals I've created. It's like having my own personal zoo that I can carry around with me. And the best part is, I can share itwith my friends and family, and they can enjoy all the animals too. It's like being a real-life animal artist!。

As a child, I loved reading picture books, especially those with cute animal characters. I remember spending hours flipping through the pages, admiring the colorful illustrations and the stories that came with them. As an adult, I decided to create my own animal picture book, but with a twist – I wanted it to be entirely handmade.I started by sketching out my ideas for the characters and the story. I chose to focus on a group of animals who lived in a forest and went on adventures together. I wanted each character to have their own unique personality and quirks, so I spent a lot of time developing their backstories and traits.Once I had a solid idea of what I wanted the book to be about, I began the process of creating the illustrations. I decided to use watercolors, as I love the soft, dreamyeffect they create. I painted each page by hand, taking care to add in all the little details that would bring the story to life. After the illustrations were complete, I moved on to the text. I wanted the story to be simple and easy to understand, so I kept the language straightforward and used short sentences. I also made sure to include plenty of dialogue between the characters, as I believe this helps to make the story more engaging.Once the text was finalized, I printed it out and cut it into strips that would fit onto the pages of the book. I then glued the strips onto the pages, being careful toalign them with the illustrations. Finally, I bound the pages together using a simple binding technique that I learned online. I used a combination of cardboard and decorative paper to create the cover, and added in some embellishments like ribbon and buttons to make it even more special. The finished product was a beautiful, handmade animal picture book that I was incredibly proud of. It was a labor of love, and I put so much time and effort into creating it.I hope that someday, a child will pick it up and fall inlove with the characters and the story, just like I didwith my favorite picture books as a child.。

In a lush, green forest filled with enormous trees and vibrant flowers, there lived a young dinosaur named Danny. Danny was a Brontosaurus, known for his long neck and even longer tail. Unlike other dinosaurs, Danny was very curious and always eager to learn about the world. One sunny morning, Danny decided to embark on an adventure. He wanted to explore the farthest parts of the forest and perhaps make some new friends. With a cheerful wave to his family, he set off, his huge feet thumping softly on the soft earth. As he walked through the forest, Danny hummed a tune and admired the beauty around him. Suddenly, he heard a faint crying sound. Curious, he followed the sound until he found a small Triceratops stuck in a bush. The Triceratops, whose name was Timmy, looked frightened and upset."Hello there! Do you need some help?" Danny asked, bending down to look at Timmy."Yes, please! I was exploring and got stuck in this bush," Timmy replied, his voice shaky. With great care, Danny used his long neck to gentlylift Timmy out of the bush. Timmy was so grateful that he hugged Danny's face with his tiny arms."Thank you, Danny! You are so kind!" Timmy exclaimed. "Would you like to be my friend?""I would love that!" Danny answered with a smile.Together, they continued Danny’s journey. As they walked, they talked about the different plants and animals they saw. Timmy was knowledgeable about various berries and herbs, and Danny learned a lot from him. After a while, they reached a clear, sparkling river. The river was wide and flowed swiftly. Danny and Timmy were about to turn back when they heard a loud roar across the river.Looking across, they saw a young T-Rex named Tara trapped on a small island in the middle of the river. The water had risen, and she couldn’t get back to the shore."We have to help her!" Timmy cried out."But how? The river is too wide and the current is too strong for us to swim across," Danny said, worried. Then, an idea struck him. "What if I stretch across the river? I might be long enough to reach the island!"Carefully, Danny stepped into the river, stretching his long neck and tail. He pushed against the riverbed, bracing himself as the water rushed around him. Finally, he reached the island, and Tara gratefully climbed onto his back.Danny slowly and carefully moved back to the shore, carrying Tara. Once they were safely on land, Tara thanked Danny profusely."You saved my life, Danny! How can I ever thank you enough?" Tara said, her eyes filled with gratitude."It’s what friends do for each other," Danny replied humbly. The three new friends spent the rest of the day playing and exploring the forest together. They shared stories and laughed, enjoying each other's company. When the sun began to set, they all agreed to meet again the next day for another adventure.Danny walked home, his heart full of joy. He had not only explored new places and learned new things but had also made wonderful friends. He realized that the world was full of surprises and kindness, and he looked forward to many more adventures. As the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, Dannyreached his home. He told his family all about his day and the new friends he had made. And so, Danny learned that being brave and kind brings the greatest adventures and the dearest friends. And with that thought, he drifted off to sleep, dreaming of the next day’s adventures in the wonderful, wide world.[End of Story]。
