By the end of the class, students should be able to:

Skim the passage to find out the main idea and scan the passage to locate specific information；

To acquire more knowledge about the Great Tangshan Earthquake；Generate right attitudes towards how to survive from the earthquakes and treasure the most important things in life.

T: Good morning class. How are you today?

T: Do you know the meaning of natural disaster?

T: Would you tell me some natural disasters?

S: Flood. / Sandstorm. / Typhoon…

T: Have you ever experienced any natural disaster?

T: Would you like to tell us your experience?

T: Thank you for your sharing.

T: Now please look at these pictures, class. Can you name all the disasters?

Ss: Volcanic eruption Hailstone Flood Sandstorm Typhoon.

Activity 2 Talk about your feelings (4 mins)

T: Are you familiar with this date?
