Many sports players have them, too. In the US, tattoos arevery popular. Forty percent of Americans aged between 26 and 40 have atattoo, and 60 percent of customers in US tattoo parlors are women. These people are often professional people like doctor, teachers and lawyers. However, tattoos are not modern. In fact, they are very old in human history. For example, archaeologists(考古学家) found a human in ice from 5,000 years ago. He had 57 tattoos on his back, ankles, legs, knees and feet. Tattoos were used for many different reasons. In ancient Egypt, people got tattoos because they were “beautiful”. But in ancient Rome, tattoos wer e negative(负面的) and put on criminals and prisoners. In India, tattoos were religious(宗教的).In the 16th and 17th century, European sailors(船员) arrived on the islands of Polynesia. They saw tattoos for the first time. The people on the islands had tattoos on their shoulders, chests, backs and legs. Often the tattoos were of animals or natural features like a river or a mountain. The European sailors liked them and made theirown tattoos, so the idea traveled to Europe. Tattoos in Polynesia are still important today. They show information about a person's history, their island or their job.So is there a connection(联系) between traditional tattoos and fashionable tattoos? And can you call tattoos a fashion? Chris Rainier is an expert in tattoos and his book Ancient Marks has photos of tattoos from all over the world. He thinks people in modern societies often have tattoos because they are a connection to the traditional world. But tattoos aren't a fashion like clothes or a haircut because you can't put them on and take them off again like a jacket or a hat. They are permanent(永久的) and for life.6.When were tattoos brought to Europe?A.5,000 years ago. B.60 years ago.C.Until recently. 完形+还原短文+阅读填表格+词语运用(限时:30分钟)Ⅰ.[2019·呼和浩特改编]完形填空“The grass looks greener on the other side of the fence.” That's an old 1 in English. It means other places often look better, more interesting than the place in 2 you live. Some people worry 3 young Chinese are beginning to feel that way. They see young Chinese paying no attention to Chinese culture and, 4 , buying Japanese cartoon books, watching Korean soap operas and even celebrating Western holidays.Foreign books and soap operas are good, 5 Chinese writers and actors are just as good. As for holidays, Christmas is nice, but it can 6 have the meaning for Chinese that the Spring Festival has, and the West has nothing to compare with the Mid-autumn Festival. And let's not forget the part of Chinese culture I like best—its friendliness. Not all countries are as 7 as China. It's good to enjoy other cultures and to learn from them, but they cannot replace your own culture. It's good to look on the other side of the fence, but 8 you take a good long look. You will find that the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence.( )1.A.word B.saying C.sentence( )2.A.that B.when C.which( )3.A.that B.if C.why( )4.A.however B.besides C.instead( )5.A.and B.so C.but( )6.A.still B.never C.always( )7.A.warm B.hot C.cold( )8.A.make up B.make up of C.make sureⅡ.[2019·威海改编]还原短文请阅读下面短文,根据短文内容,从方框内所给的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,使短文意思通顺。

Thank you very much. Thank you!Thank you for Principal Xu, all the teachers and most importantly, the class of 2019. If I can't make my speech fantastic, I will at least try to make it short. It's been nearly 40 years since I became a member of the navy. You may be wondering how I have won so many honors as a commander-in-chief. In fact, it all began from the half a 1 basic training, which I will never forget. The training included midnight swims in the cold water, days without 2 and long painful runs in the soft sand. I always felt cold, wet, sleepy and painful. The training also needed to find those who could 3 in an environment of stress, mess, failure and hardships. To me, the basic training was a lifetime of challenges that lasted six months. And today, I'd like to talk about one little thing, which I think is one of the most important points leading to great 4 .Every morning in the training, my instructors(教官) would 5 in our rooms. The first thing they did was to 6 our beds. The corners would be square if we did it right. The covers would be pulled tight, and the pillow would be centered just under the headboard. It was a(n) 7 task. But every morning we were required to make our beds 8 . It seemed a little funny, but the wisdom of this simple act has been proved to me many times over.If you make your bed every morning, you will have completed the 9 task of the day. It will bring you a small sense of success, and it will 10 you to do another task, and another and another. And by the end of the day, one task completed will have 11 into many tasks completed. Making your bed will prove the fact. If you can't do the little things right, you will 12 be able to do the big things right.13 the world can happen anywhere and anyone can do it. AFor centuries, the body’s blood has been connected closely with the feelings. People who show no human emotions or feelings are said to be cold-blooded. Here are some related expressions.Cold can affect other parts of the body. But the expression “get cold feet” hasnothing to do with cold or your feet. The expression means being afraid to dosomething you have decided to do. For example, you agree to be CEO of a company. But then you learn that all the other officers have resigned (辞职), and all the workof the company will be your responsibility(责任). You are likely to get cold feetabout being CEO when you understand the situation. The expression “give someone the cold shoulder” probably comes from thephysical act of turning your back toward someone, instead of speaking to him face toface. You may give the cold shoulder to a friend who has not kept a promise (遵守诺言) he made to you, or to someone who has lied about you to others.“A cold fish” is not a fish. It is a person. But it is a person who is unfriendly, unemotional and shows no love or warmth. A cold fish does not offer much ofhimself to anyone. Someone who is a cold fish could be cold-hearted. He or she willnever feel sorry for those in bad situation.“Out in the cold” means not getting something that everybody else got. Aperson might say that everybody but him got a pay raise— he was left out in thecold. And it is not a pleasant place to be.1. Advice on keeping warm.C. Opinions about cold-hearted people.D. Expressions connected with cold.BChina covers large areas and has a great population. Different living habits have always been an interesting topic in the country. Recently, another difference between southern Chinese and northern Chinese became a hot one: the way people shop at markets.People from southern China say that they always buy what they need for just one or two meals. It is normal for them to buy half of a Chinese cabbage, two potatoes and 0.25 kilograms of beef at a time. However, one may be laughed at if he does this in the north. Instead, buying vegetables and meat enough for a week is usual. Also, you can buy a small amount of fruit, such as a single apple or pear, each time in the south. Shop owners even help you peel and cut them. But shop owners in the north hardly offer such service. And many fruits are sold in baskets and boxes. The difference could be due to the different weather.Food can be kept for a long time in the north, as it is usually cold and dry there. Many northern Chinese have the habit of storing food, especially for the long winter. But the hot and wet weather in the south makes southern Chinese buy just enough food for one meal or one day, or else the food may go bad.4. In southern China, people usually buy _________ at a time.A. a small amount of foodB. a large amount of foodC. enough food for a weekD. a lot of meat and vegetables5. If you buy fruits in the south, the shop owners may _________.A. peel and cut them for youB. laugh at youC. only sell them in boxes and basketsD. only sell a single apple or pear6. The underlined phrase "due to" means "_________" in Chinese.A. 所以B. 但是C. 然而D. 因为7. Which is the best title for the passage?A. Different Weather in ChinaB. Different Living Habits in ChinaC. Southern Chinese and Northern ChineseD. Southern China and Northern ChinaCIn today’s world many people seem to be hungry for money. Some of them even lose their lives for it. Money does have its most useful effect(影响) on the poor, but once a person has a rich life, a lot more money doesn’t mean more happiness. If money was everything, all millionaires(百万富翁) would have true love, true friendship, good health and a long life. However, this is not always true.Nothing else is more pleasant than the three words which are "I love you". But can love be bought?I’m afraid not. Love means to give, not to take. To every person, health and long life are probably the most precious(宝贵的) things. Well, can health and a long life be bought with money? The answer is "No".Of all the longest living people in the world, few of them are millionaires. True friendship can’t be bought either. In a word, where money is worshiped(崇拜), money can cause brothers to quarrel, lovers to hate, strangers to fight and so on. No matter how much money you have, it is still not enough to make you a happy person if you have no one to laugh with, no one to cry for.8. According to the passage, which of the following do you think is right?A. Money is everything.B. Money isn’t necessary.C. Money is important, but not the most important.D. 一、阅读理解
(2017·江西中考)It seems like technology is everywhere. Computers and smart phones are at the center of almost everything we do. They constantly(持续地) require our attention. We text our friends with them during the day, sleep with them by our beds and check our messages as soon as we wake up.
In the future, technology will no longer be interrupting us all the time. Instead, we will use calm technology which was first developed by scientist Mark Weiser in the 1970s. In his opinion, calm technology works quietly but constantly. We know it is there, but we don't pay much attention to it. According to Mark, the best technology should be invisible(隐形的) and let you live your life.
We already use many different types of calm technology in our everyday lives. Do you have a smoke alarm in your house? That smoke alarm is always there, checking the air for smoke and quietly keeping you safe. It only reminds you it's there when you've burnt your bread! Or there may be lights in your home or school. When somebody passes in front of their sensors(传感器), the lights turn on. You don't think about this type of technology until you see the light go on.
In the future, we can imagine our houses will use calm technology to open the curtains for us in the morning, to turn down the heat when we leave, or even to choose the best music for our mood. The minute we walk through the door, our house will respond by turning on the lights and music, and perhaps even starting to prepare
our dinner!
