题型二阅读理解(任务型阅读)1-10Passage 1(2018.河北)Artificial intelligence( AI)(人工智能)is growing rapidly. We are living in a world that depends more and more on AI. AI is a group of technologies that help machines get, understand and use information to do tasks.AI's recent developments have got a lot of social attention. Some people have welcomed AI because it makes things possible. For example, AI will have a big influence on areas like medicine and engineering. But this attention has also produced a lot of fear. Especially, many workers are worrying that AI could make them lose their jobs.According to a recent study, nearly five percent of jobs will disappear because of AI. In some industries,AI is already doing the work that people used to do, such as assembling(装配)cars, digging the coal and lifting goods. Self- driving cars and trucks controlled by AI will also take away the driver's jobs in the future. On the other hand, AI will also create many new jobs for people. More people will be needed to write programmes for AI systems(系统)and they will set up and work on them, too. Meanwhile, jobs that require feelings, excellent communication skills with people will not be replaced(取代)by AI. These includes jobs in fields like teaching, nursing and personal training.AI is here. It is changing how people live and work in many ways. That makes AI important to watch, not to fear.1、2题完成句子;3题简略回答问题;4题找出并写下第二段的主题句;5题将文中画线句子译成汉语。

When you were trying to figure out what to buy for the environmentalist on your holiday list, fur probably didn’t cross your mind. But some ecologists and fashion (时装)enthusiasts are trying to bring back the market for fur made from nutria(海狸鼠).Unusual fashion shows in New Orleans and Brooklyn have showcased nutria fur made into clothes in different styles. “It sounds crazy to talk about guilt-free fur-unless you understand that the nutria are destroying vast wetlands every year”, says Cree McCree, project director of Righteous Fur.Scientists in Louisiana were so concerned that they decided to pay hunters $5 a tail. Some of the fur ends up in the fashion shows like the one in Brooklyn last month.Nutria were brought there from Argentina by fur farmers and let go into the wild. “The ecosystem down there can’t handle this non-native species(物种).It’s destroying the environment. It’s them or us.” says Michael Massimi, an expert in this field. The fur trade kept nutria in check for decades, but when the market for nutria collapsed in the late 1980s,the cat-sized animals multiplied like crazy.Biologist Edmond Mouton runs the nutria control program for Louisiana. He says it’s not easy to convince people that nutria fur is green, but he has no doubt about it. Hunters bring in more than 300,000 nutria tails a year, so part of Mouton’s job these days is trying to promote fur. Then there’s Righteous Fur and its unusual fashion. Model Paige Morgan says,”To give people a guilt-free option that they can wear without someone throwing paint on them-1 think that’s going to be a massive thing, at least here in New York.” Designer Jennifer Anderson admits it took her a while to come around to the opinion that using nutria fur for her creations is morally acceptable. She trying to come up with a lable to attach to nutria fashions to show it is eco-friendly.28.What is the purpose of the fashion shows in New Orleans and Brooklyn?A.To promote guilt-free fur.B.To expand the fashion market.C.To introduce a new brand.D.To celebrate a winter holiday.29.Why are scientists concerned about nutria?A.Nutria damage the ecosystem seriously.B.Nutria are an endangered species.C.Nutria hurt local cat-sized animals.D.Nutria are illegally hunted.30.What does the underlined word “collapsed” in paragraph 5 probably mean?A.Boomed.B.Became mature.C.Remained stable.D.Crashed.31.What can we infer abouf wearing fur in New York according to Morgan?A.It’s formal.B.It’s risky.C.It’s harmful.D.It’s traditional.【答案】28.A29.A30.D31.B【解析】本文是说明文。

Unit 1 How can we become good learners?过模拟If you put your history notes under your pillow and sleep on them the night before an exam, will you do any better in the exam? Most of us have hoped this might help. However, knowledge can’t go through the pillow into your brain. But that doesn’t mean you can’t learn while you are asleep.Scientists aren’t exactly sure how it works, but they have discovered that the brain can learn things during sleeping hours. In one experiment, researchers gave German speakers some Dutch words to learn. Then, they divided them into three groups. The researchers played the Dutch words for people in Group 1 while they were asleep, without telling these German speakers what they were doing. The sound was low so it didn’t wake them up, and only the newly introduced words were used.Another group listened to the same words while they were awake. The researchers found the people in Group 1 were better able to identify and translate the words later. This was true only for the words that were played while they slept. The third group listened to words when they walked. The walkers didn't have the same success in remembering the words as the sleeping group. The researchers later found that people had more slow-wave brain activity all over the night. They said that more slow waves made people have a better memory for the new words.1.When did the researchers play foreign words for people in Group 1 in the experiment?A. Before they went for a walk.B. Before they went to bed.C. When they were asleep.D. When they were having dinner.2.What does the underlined word "identify" mean in Chinese?A. 提高B. 辨认出C. 隐藏D. 逃避3.The last two paragraphs tell us the experiment's______.A. resultB. reasonC. influenceD. purpose4.Which of the following is true?A. Scientists think people can't learn during sleeping hours.B. German speakers enjoy learning Dutch words.C. Slow-wave brain activity can help people have a good sleep.D. People in Group 3 didn't remember the words as well as those in Group 1.5.Where is the passage most probably from?A. A history textbook.B. A science magazine.C. A travel newspaper.D. But despite their docile nature, scientists still lack basic information, such as how long the whale sharks actually live.To solve the problem, researchers turned to data from the dozens of atomic bomb tests carried out in the 1950s and 60s. These explosions produced huge amounts of an isotope called Carbon-14.As scientists know how long the element takes to decay, they can work out the whale shark’s age, depending on how much Carbon-14 is contained in their bones. One whale shark was 50 years old at time of death. Some can live to be 150.
2021届高考英语第二轮复习:时事热点拓展阅读练习(十)AOperators (运营者)of one of the country's most famous restaurants say mannequins (服装模型) can add some fun and help with social distancing in public places. The Inn at Little Washington has placed several throughout its eating area, or dining room. The restaurant in Virginia plans to reopen its dining room May 29, as the state is expected to ease restrictions (限制)on gatherings inside restaurants. The mannequins wear 1940s-style clothing and sit at several tables. The Inn is in the low hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains about 90 minutes by car from Washington, D.C."When we needed to solve the problem of social distancing and reducing our restaurant's occupancy(上座率) by half, the solution seemed obvious," Patrick O'Connell said in a statement. He is chef and owner of the restaurant. He said the mannequins create the required space between guests. But, he said they also bring smiles to faces and might be used to make some fun photos.O'Connell's restaurant is not the only one trying out unusual ideas to ease the practice of social distancing. In Maryland, for example, a coastal restaurant is using "bumper tables" to welcome back dine-in guests. The round, one-person tables have an air-filled tube around them and wheels at the bottom. Guests can move them around and bump into other tables for fun while keeping a 2-meter distance between people. And in Germany,a restaurant is trying to keep guests at a cafe at a safe distance by providing them hats to wear. The hats have two pool noodles attached to the top. The hats look funny but also help guests quickly realize if they get too close to others. The restaurant also has limited its dine-in service by more than 50 percent. What funny or unusual things are restaurants or stores in your area doing to keep visitors at a safe distance? Tell us in the comments (评论区).I'm Alice Bryant.(328 words)根据文章内容,选择正确答案1. Which restaurant has limited its dine-in service over 50%?A. The restaurant in VirginiaB. More restaurants will try to keep the customers in safe social distance in June.B. More restaurants will be closed in June.C. The dine-in service in the restaurants will not be allowed in June.D. The restrictions on social distance will be stopped in June.答案:CABDABFor centuries, people have kept large amounts of cash at home during difficult times. But in the corona virus crisis, things are different. These metal coins and paper bills can be a source of worry rather than hope. The fear is that these objects, possibly touched by thousands of people, could be a way for the corona virus to spread.Public officials and health experts have said that the risk is small. Still, some businesses refuse to accept them, and some countries have suggested that their citizens should stop using them altogether.Zachary Cohle is an economics professor at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. "In many areas, cash was already beginning to disappear due to theincreased risk of robbery, the ease 便捷of internet ordering, and the ubiquity 普及of cell phones," he said.Sweden, Finland, Norway, Canada and others have slowly reduced cash use to the point where using it in large amounts seems unusual.Britain and Australia are expected to become cashless countries. And in China, cash use has dropped as electronic payment services 电子支付服务 increased in popularity over the past ten years.Since the virus outbreak, shops that have remained open, like grocery stores, have encouraged people to pay with cards. And Germany's central bank said 43 percent of Germans recently paid for goods and services with a card.In Iran, there are no international bank cards, like Visa or Master card, because of U.S. sanctions. Yet new signs appeared at some gas stations in Tehran:"Service is only for those who will pay by debit cards借记卡." A debit card is a small plastic card that is used in place of cash to buy things. However, cash use is still common in places like West and Central Africa where many cannot pay for the cost of banking services.Dorothy Harpool teaches at Wichita State University's W. Frank Barton School of Business. Harpool thought some people would rethink their use of cash during the crisis. But she said the world would not be cashless " until everyone and every country has reliable access 可靠的方式 to the internet."(362 words)根据文章内容,选择正确答案:1. Scientists, who study the past by examining very old objects, are digging up more and more of these bones. These archeologists have found that the bones belong to the mammoth(猛犸), the most famous mammal of a cold period in Earth's history known as an ice age.Archeologists have found the bones of 70 mammoths so far. The latest discovery includes two large skulls, as well as rib and leg bones.Ruben Manzanilla is the lead archeologist at the site. Last year at Christmas time, my wife, three children and I were on our way from Paris to Nice. Somehow everything went wrong. Our hotels were “tourist traps” and our rented car broke down. On Christmas Eve, when we checked into a dirty hotel in Nice, there was no Christmas spirit in our hearts. It was raining and cold when we went out to eat. We found a small restaurant poorly decorated for the holiday. Only five tables in the restaurant were taken. There were two German couples, two French families, and an American sailor, by himself. They were eating in stony silence except the sailor. He was writing a letter, and a half-smile lighted his face. In the corner a piano player was listlessly (无精打采地) playing Christmas music. All of us were interrupted by an old French flower woman through the front door. She had a worn overcoat and her old shoes were wet. Carrying her basket of flowers, she went from one table to another. No one bought any. Exhausted and frustrated, she sat down at a table. The sailor finished his meal and got up to leave. Putting on his coat, he walked over to the flower woman’s table.“Merry Christmas,” he said, smiling and picking out a handful of flowers. “How much are they?” “Two francs, sir.”The sailor put a twenty franc note in the woman’s hand.“I don’t have change, sir,” she said. “I'll get some from the waiter.”“No, ma’am,” said the sailor, leaning over and kissing the ancient cheek. “This is my Christma s present for you.”注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150 左右;2.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;Paragraph 1:Then the sailor headed for our table with the flowers in his hand._______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ ___________Paragraph 2:The piano player came alive and pleasant music filled the whole room._______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ ___________2.阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

★Finish homework as early as possible. Nobody wants to do homework, but we have to do it. The earlier you do it at the weekend, the better you will feel. You can do homework from 7:00 a. m. to 9:00 a. m. on Saturday morning. After doing your homework, you can plan your weekend well.
★Go out to enjoy the weekend. Think about what you like to do. Plan a sports activity, for example, playing football in the park. You can also plan to go to a museum, a zoo, or a park.
