(准备:45秒答题:1分钟)1. 防止传染病的重要性近年来全球传染病流行态势十分严峻,在今年新冠疫情大流行的背景下,防止传染病变得尤为重要。
以下展示一篇以"The importance of preventing infectious diseases "为题的范文,供考生参考。
In recent years, the global epidemic situation of infectious diseases is very serious. Although the incidence of many infectious diseases has decreased significantly, infectious diseases are still the main threat to human health in the world. This year's covid-19 pandemic, for example, killed thousands of people. I have to say that prevention and control of infectious diseases are very important. First, with globalization, the world is now a village. If there is an infectious disease, it will spread to every corner of the world very quickly. Secondly, infectious diseases are highly contagious and spread quickly, posing a serious threat to people's health and life safety. Finally, infectious diseases, once widespread, can overwhelm health systems and affect other basic systems. If not prevented, it will have a serious impact on the stability of the whole society. So we need to prevent and control infectious diseases and reduce their impact on people's health and society.2. 环境变化As an increasing number of natural resources have been overused, climate change becomes a heatedly debated issue around the world. Nowonder there are several consequences resulting from this phenomenon. One of the influences is millions of people suffer the heavy floods and droughts, as well as the deforestation and desertification. Well, making a living becomes tough in this situation, especially for those living on agriculture. Another impact is that transportation may come to a standstill, because bad weathers definitely cause flight delay and traffic jams.Measures should be taken immediately. Firstly, it is advisable that the authority enact related rules to limit the needless consumption and illegal acts. In addition, each one should enhance the environmental awareness and within our power do something beneficial. For example, we can carry around a canvas bag each time to replace plastic ones, eliminating white pollution. Only when all unit as one can we prevent the whole world from worse situation.3. 社区活动的重要性As the pace of urbanization speeds up, a host of large communities have been formed, especially in metropolis. Therefore, organizing appropriate community activities becomes particularly vital. For one thing, given that we are occupied with work and rarely go out, the activities can provide us opportunities to chat or interact with neighbors and reduce unnecessary conflicts. For instance, community staff can hold parents-child campaigns, in which children make new friends and parents share their experience about raising a child. For another thing, community activities affect positively in various aspects, which not only enrich our daily life, but provide physical and mental benefits. Communities, coupled with hospitals, offer door-to-door service such as physical examination to the elderly, thus guaranteeing their healthcondition. All in all, contemporary society should concentrate on community activities, which aim to bring benefits to residents.4. 存钱的重要性In terms of current depressed economic situation and potential risk, saving certain money seems to be agreed widely. The primary reason is to avoid short-term financial burden. When laid off or suffering from accidents and sickness, citizens have to take out sufficient money in order to go through the storm. On this condition, the money saved in advance matters a lot. Besides, after retiring, the elderly need abundant material resources to support themselves, so accumulating almost half of their salary from adulthood plays a significant role. Generally speaking, it is necessary to make budgets at the start of a month, which ensures that they can not only live a better life, but collect plenty of money. All in all, having a plan and following the schedule can do nothing but help you out in the long run.5. 对整容的看法What do you think of plastic surgery?Nowadays, more and more people tend to have a plastic surgery. People want to become more beautiful and attractive and keep their youth for a longer time. However, while people keen on improving their appearance, they are more likely to neglect the potential dangers behind plastic surgery. For one thing, driven by the money, some hospitals and doctors make exaggerating advertisements to attract people's attention, even cheat them. The fact is that they do not have those high technologies. We can not imagine how dangerous to the patients if their doctors arenot professional enough. Besides, there are many people whose body are sensitive and are under the great risks of infections and complications, even death. For another, the sufferers have to bear the curious looks from their friends and acquaintances after the operation. Sometimes, they themselves also have psychological problems for they think they are not real beauties, but artificial beauties. To sum up, in some extents, plastic surgery plays a positive role in our society , but we should never neglect those side effects I mentioned above. There are nothing wrong for one to pursue beauty, what we should do is to choose an appropriate method to achieve this goal and cherish what we have now.6. 如何与他人友好相处Getting along well with others is an essential capacity for every individual in our daily lives especially in such a competitively fierce society. To do it well, some vital factors should be taken into consideration.First and foremost, we should be honest to the people contacted with. As far as I am concerned, honesty is one of the most valuable personality in human beings. It makes us feel comfortable and sincere when we get along with others. And being honest can also make us express ourselves freely and excitedly, which renders us enthusiastic. Only when people treat each other frankly and honestly, can they build a trustworthy relationship from the bottom of heart and get along well. In addition, responsibility is another one everybody should equip with, especially when others are in trouble. The sense of responsibility and accountability strengthen the relationship between people, which can pose great security and safety to others.Above all, getting along well with each other will exert great influence on our lives and trying to embrace honesty, responsibility and kindness is of great importance forever.7. 增强中学生生活技能的重要性Promote Life Skills for Middle School StudentsEducation is about giving people the opportunity to develop their potential, their personality and their strengths. This does not merely mean learning new knowledge, but also developing abilities to make the most of life. These are called life skills-- including the inner capacities and the practical skills. We need to increase our life skills at every stage of life, especially the secondary education when students are in the stage of building their personality. For one thing, practical life skills are the kinds of manual skills the middle students need for the physical tasks they face. These are skills which are often available to middle school students leaving school. For another, in today's world all these skills are necessary, in order to face rapid change in society. They need to know how to cope with the flood of information and turn it into useful knowledge. They also need to learn how to handle changes in society and in their own lives. In conclusion, the middle school students should recognize the importance of life skills--both practical and psycho-social---as part of education which leads to the full development of human potential and to the development of society.

The popularization of online video sharing Following the rapid development of social media apps, people no longer need to meet friends face to face and share their feelings and experience to each other. Instead, we use our cellphone apps to make, edit and release videos online, which are recordings of some valuable memories of our lives. A number of factors might contribute to this prevalent phenomenon. One of the most common is that online video sharing makes it more convenient to communicate and interact with friends, especially those who live quite far away from each other. By watching vivid videos, we can know better about our friends' lives, feel closer with them, as if we are having fun together. Besides that, sharing video online is a good way to make new friends. As for me, I like watching videos posed by different people because it enables me to get to know people from various background without any limits imposed by space or time. Therefore, sharing videos is a way to bring people closer together, and an irresistible trend that almost no one can reject.2.翻译的重要性The Importance of TranslationTranslation is a cross-language and cross-culture communicative activity. In translation practice, translators should be faithful to the original text, and deal with target language with flexibility, instead of sticking to the original structure. As Eugene Nida said, “Translating consists in reproducing in the receptor language the closest natural equivalent of the source language message, first in terms of meaning, and secondly in terms of style.”Translation plays a key role in a increasingly interdependent world. With the globalization of the economic, there are more and more global companies, who need the translator when they communicate with their business partner, run a business in a foreign country, and so on. The translator enhance communication by conveying information accurately from one language to another in different countries across the world. To sum up, translation is not just about academic skills. It is about providing the vital linguistic and cultural link between persons and communities of different races, cultures and languages. So that we can communicate better and understand one another more effectively.3.线上医疗好还是线下医疗好?Online medical service or offline medical service, which is better?Nowadays, with the development of Internet and medical technology, it has become a reality that we can stay at home to be medically served online without going to the physical hospital. Personally, I think the online medical service is better that the traditional one for the following three main points.Firstly, as is known to us, the traditional medical service required that we should not only make an appointment in advance, but also go to the physical hospital to line up for a long time to see the doctor. What’s worse, it takes a few hours for us to get there if we are far from the hospital. Thus, the online one can be said to be better and convenient for us. We can make use of the waiting time to do a lot of meaningful things or get more sleep. Second, as the pandemic of CIVID-19 this year, some measures should be taken to reduce the probability of exposing to the infectious disease. However, if we all go to the physical hospital when we feel a little sick, we can’t guarantee the occurrence of infection since some diseases is contagious itself. Lastly, I suggest that common ailments, such as catching a cold, should be encouraged to be treated online at home, while the unusual cases should be treated in the hospital because sometimes we need to be inspected by the professional medical devices to know our physical condition.二、话题讨论1.应该鼓励在线视频分享吗?A: Hi, Joe, how is everything going?B: Not good, actually.A: What's wrong?B: This morning, I was bombard with many massages of short online videos shared by my friend s when checking my We Chat. You know, it's annoying because I'm not really interested in these videos.A: Well, sharing online videos using apps like Tic Tok is becoming a trend among people, including the elders. In fact, sometimes, people are just to share the joy they felt from the videos they think funny.B: I don't agree, everyone has the choice to refuse the spreading of disturbing messages, hasn't they? Online videos should not be shared freely by smart phones. A: Of course. I agree on this point. But Let's talk from another angle. Nowadays since the paper news is gradually replaced by the electric one, online video sharing becomes one of the instant way that can help us learn the major events happened in many countries.B: Sure, it does help. Every coin has two sides. What we need to do is to master the degree when using it. Don't be too indulged in it.A: Yes, you are right. We should encourage the sharing of online video on the condition of considering and respecting others' will.2.机器翻译能否替代人工翻译Candidate A: With the development of science and technology, machine translation plays a more and more important role in the field of translation. As a result, some translators are wondering whether translators will lose their jobs in the near future with the rapid development of machine translation. What do you think about that? Candidate B: Well, the rapid development of machine translation indicates that there is soil for its survival in the field of translation. What's more, it has a bigger advantage than human translation in some aspects.Candidate A: Does machine translation seem so powerful that it is applicable to all fields? In my opinion, machine translation also has its obvious disadvantages. Candidate B: Yes, some kinds of texts are not suitable for machine translation. For example, as for foreign film, the translators should not only be in line with the original text, but also take into account the characteristics of the film. But machine translation does not guarantee this.Candidate A: I agree with your idea. While machine translation is convenient, there are some disadvantages in it. For example, in literary works, authors often use writing techniques such as rhyme, pun, and voice-over to enhance their works. For machine translation, there is no way to restore it completely.Candidate B: Yeah, therefore, machine translation cannot completely replace human translation, so the existence of translators is very necessary.Candidate A: So, translators should strive to improve their own qualities in order to ensure the quality of translation.Candidate B: Yeah. With machine translation developing so well, translators should improve their competitiveness.3.线上医疗好还是线下医疗好?A: Hi, Tiffany, What’s wrong with you? You looks so tired.B: Oh, yesterday I caught a cold suddenly and went to the Renmin Hospital. However, I failed to make an appointment with Dr. Smith after lining up for a long time. I waited for a long time, you know, just to be told the attendance is full. It’s too annoying.A: Really? It’s too bad. But why do you try to make an appointment online?B: I never tried. Does this approach have a greater chance of success?A: Sure, I have used it for a few times. It is convenient and can save a lot of time, especially when we are far from the hospital.B: It sounds great. But I think there is one shortcoming with the online form. Online medical service is just limited to common ailments, such as catching a cold, which canbe treated online at home, while the unusual cases need to be treated in the hospital because sometimes we still need to be inspected by the professional medical devices to know our physical condition.A: Yes, it is not perfect until now. Although it has some limitations and can’t replace the offline one totally, it still shows its great advantage when we confronted with thepandemic of COVID-19, isn’t it? If you go to the physical hospital, you can’t guarantee the occurrence of exposing to the viruses and other contagious diseases. Seeing a doctor online at home can help reduce the likelihood of outbreak of epidemic.B: Well, from this perspective, online medical service is indeed better than the offline one.4.机考是否将替代纸质考试Candidate A: Due to the epidemic this year, many paper tests have been converted to computer-based ones. Do you have any ideas about it?Candidate B: Yeah. I have just taken a computer-based test last month. I think it is very convenient and efficient. I just need to open my computer and do the test. Candidate A: Well, of course computer-based test can reduce many processes, but does it guarantee fairness and equality of the test?Candidate B: As far as I am concerned, computer-based test can’t fully guarantee the fairness of the examination. For example, the rural network is worse than the urban network, which is very unfair to the rural candidates.Candidate A: Yeah, I agree with your idea. In addition, it’s not very safe. If the computer crashes or the Internet is disconnected, the exam will not go smoothly. Candidate B: What’s more, popularizing the computer-based test is not simple. It requires sufficient funding and technical support.Candidate A: So, In the future of artificial intelligence, computer-based tests may replace paper-based tests, but they will never replace the reliability paper test brought. Candidate B: Well, I hoped that the computer-based test can not only provide convenience for exams, but also improve its security and stability.5.保护网上个人信息的重要性People now are living in an era of technology. With the rapid development of the Internet, we can get information in a much faster way than ever before. The Internet allows for an unbelievably large amount of downloads and uploads of information for individual users. However, it also brings about the hazard of personal information leakage, and it is vital to raise people’s awareness of this serious problem. Firstly, if the personal information gets revealed, it might be obtained and utilized by some people who intend to engage in illegal activities, such as fraud, forgery, even kidnapping. It will cause immeasurable losses to the victims, and everyone’s safety cannot beguaranteed under this circumstance. Besides, if some business giants possess a considerable amount of personal information, they might become dominant in a industry to an extent that monopoly might be formed, which obviously has a negative impact on the whole market, even the economy. Thus, personal information protection is an alarmingly significant issue that cannot be ignored.6.怎样保护网上个人信息?A: Hi, Lucy, Have you heard the news that Lisa, one of Jack’s best friends, was defrauded of ¥30,000?B: Wow, What happened?A: It is said that her money was gone with a few seconds just after she clicked on an unfamiliar web link at the guidance of a sales call.B: Oh, that’s too bad. It’s totally a wire fraud, isn’t it?A: Yes, indeed. Being in a digital era, you know, every time we click on a web link, we are always asked to enter some personal information, which is closely tied to our banking or paying accounts. That is to say, it’s easy to disclose our personal information to some so-called hackers who possibly do some criminal things.B: You’re right. But how to prevent the occurrence of such bad event?A: Well, I have concluded a few methods to to protect our personal information from being stolen online.B: Really, I’m ready to know.A: First, develop a good habit of surfing the Internet, don’t click the unknown website or web link freely. Second, encrypt some financial apps in our smartphone or computers. Third, kill viruses of our digital devices regularly and update virus reservoir instantly.B: Good idea, I will do as you suggest.7.人工智能会不会让很多人失业Candidate A: In recent years, artificial intelligence(AI) has made rapid advances, which has raised some concerns. One of them is whether AI will lead to mass unemployment. Then what do you think of it?Candidate B: Of course, artificial intelligence will put some people out of work. For example, the telegraph operator lost his job when the telephone appeared. Candidate A: Many people are afraid of losing their jobs because they only work hard and don’t think.Candidate B: Yes, you are right. Though AI makes some people lose their job, it also gives opportunities to other people who are good at thinking.Candidate A: Well, I agree with your idea. Sedan chairs and carriages disappeared with the advent of car, as did the carter, but the demand for car drivers increased significantly.Candidate B: Yeah. Compared with carters, car drivers are better at thinking. Candidate A: The development of AI technology not only brings about unemployment, it also brings about more job opportunities.Candidate B: So this reminds us to strive to improve our own quality, and warns us to be a person who is good at thinking.8.孤独的害处Despite the convenience that science and technology has brought into life, people nowadays tend to feel more lonely than in the past. And loneliness can cause a number of damages to both physical and mental health. According to a medical research, people who often feel lonely tend to have a weaker immune system, thus they have a much higher level of blood pressure than average, and are more likely to get chronic diseases like brain damage, heart disease, even cancer. Researchers believe that loneliness can cause changes in hormone levels, which is responsible for these physical illnesses that lonely people suffer. Not only that, loneliness can result in many significant damages to people’s mental health as well. For example, people who often feel lonely might find themselves difficult to concentrate and think deeply. Without self-adjusting, they might lose interests toward their job, friends and things which they used to love, and are in danger of falling into depression eventually. Considering the damaging effects loneliness can bring about to people’s lives, it is necessary for us to avoid this harmful emotion, and help whoever is experiencing it.9.要不要向校园里停的车收费Candidate A: Nowadays, there are a lot of such phenomena on campus: a lot of private cars parked on the roads, which brings great inconvenience to students and teachers. Then what do you think of it? Do you think they should be charged?Candidate B: Well, when I walked out of the dorm today, there was a car parked in front of the door, which made it difficult for students to get in and out.Candidate A: Oh, the owner of the car is so incompetent, how can he park his car there?Candidate B: So I don’t think people can leave their cars random on campus, instead, they should park them in a fixed parking space.Candidate A: Yeah, I agree with you. So it is necessary to charge car owners for disorderly parking.Candidate B: You mean that if the owner parks his car in a fixed parking space, and it will not affect the traffic, so there will be no charge?Candidate A: Yes. This would encourage owners to put their cars in the right places and penalize those who leave them in the wrong places.Candidate B: Well, it sounds great! I believe that if our university does this, both students and teachers will get great convenience, thus reducing a lot of unnecessary troubles.10.医疗服务的变化Changes in medical serviceIn the past few years, with the development of Internet and digital technology, many industries have greatly facilitated people’s daily life by setting up online stores or WeChat mini-programs. Medical service is no exception. Nowadays, it is gradually becoming a reality that we can stay at home to be medically served online without going to the physical hospital. Specifically, I think the changes in medical service are reflected in the following three points.Firstly, the perfection of medical system as well as its combination with the smart devices allows people to make an appointment in advance by using a portable phone or a mini-program inserted in the WeChat app anywhere. And it is also easy to cancel or change the time. Secondly, the pandemic of COVID-19 at the beginning of this year further promote the popularization of using online medical service instead of the offline one, because the former is an effective way to reduce the probability of exposing to the infectious disease. Lastly, medicine is a matter of people’s livelihood, to speed up the implementation of the online medical service is encouraged by the government, whose aims is to help people solve the problem of difficulty in medical treatment. In addition, the cost of adopting the online medical service is certainly fewer than the traditional offline one.All in all, in the next few years, the forms of medical service will continue to be changed and diversified and the combination form of online and offline is ideally predictable.11.校园停放车辆A: Do you ever feel lonely? I do feel lonely sometimes. It’s not a good feeling.B: Yes, I know the feeling. Sometimes, even if not alone, I will often feel lonely, but I project my appearance was all okay. Perhaps, because of in the face of unknown future, a sense of helplessness and confusion always come to me.A: In today’s busy world, many people suffer from loneliness. I’m hoping that I can share some positive advises that has helped me, and may just help you too. My proposal is to participate in various interest groups, such as dancing, writing, singing, sports etc. Through talking and communicating to other members, we all gain by the interchange of ideas, the swapping of experiences and the discussion of future hopes and aspirations.B: I agree. We also need to give a vent to our feeling. Speak as much as possible to people who are empathetic. You may surprisingly find that there are indeed different situations that we all have to deal with, however, we all share a common human experience. We all feel the emotions of love, loneliness, fear, loss, and joy.A: Yes that’s definitely true.B: When you start to understand that other people have the same feeling with you, you can start to feel a lot closer to the outside. This is the way to begin to mend feelings of isolation and loneliness.A: Yes, in this way we can regain more confidence and it could be easier for us to overcome any difficulties.B: Anyway, to keep a positive attitude is the most important way.A: I suddenly think of it, may be having a pet to care for is helpful to overcome lonely too. 2020年12月全国大学英语四级口语考试真题及原文
2020年12月全国大学英语四级口语考试真题及原文[A] Young graduates are in debt, out of work and on their parents' couches. People in their 30s and 40s can't afford to buy homes or have children. Retirees are earning near-zero interest on their savings.[B] In the current listless (缺乏活力的) economy, every generation has a claim to having been most injured. But the Labor Department's latest jobs snapshot and other recent data reports present a strong case for crowning baby boomers (二战后生育高峰期出生的人) as the greatest victims of the recession and its dreadful consequences.[C] These Americans in their 50s and early 60s — those near retirement age who do not yet have access to Medicare and Social Security — have lost the most earnings power of any age group, with their household incomes 10 percent below what they made when the recovery began three years ago, according to Sentier Research, a data analysis company. Their retirement savings and home values fell sharply at the worst possible time: just before they needed to cash out. They are supporting both aged parents and unemployed young-adult children, earning them the unlucky nickname "Generation Squeeze."[D] New research suggests that they may die sooner, because their health, income security and mental well-being were battered (重创) by recession at a crucial time in their lives. A recent study by economists at Wellesley College found that people who lost their jobs in the few years before becoming qualified for Social Security lost up to three yearsfrom their life expectancy (预期寿命), largely because theyno longer had access to affordable health care.[E] Unemployment rates for Americans nearing retirementare far lower than those for young people, who are recentlyout of school, with fewer skills and a shorter work history. But once out of a job, older workers have a much harder time finding another one. Over the last year, the average duration of unemployment for older people was 53 weeks, compared with 19 weeks for teenagers, according to the Labor Department's jobs report released on Friday.[F] The lengthy process is partly because older workersare more likely to have been laid off from industries thatare downsizing, like manufacturing. Compared with the rest of the population, older people are also more likely to owntheir own homes and be less mobile than renters, who can move to new job markets.[G] Older workers are more likely to have a disability of some sort, perhaps limiting the range of jobs that offer realistic choices. They may also be less inclined, at least initially, to take jobs that pay far less than their old positions.[H] Displaced boomers also believe they are victims ofage discrimination, because employers can easily find a young, energetic worker who will accept lower pay and who can potentially stick around for decades rather than a few years.[I] In a survey by the center of older workers who were laid off during the recession, just one in six had found another job, and half of that group had accepted pay cuts.Fourteen percent of the re-employed said the pay in their new job was less than half what they earned in their previous job. "I just say to myself: 'Why me? What have I done to deserve this?' " said John Agati, 56, of Norwalk, Conn., whose lastfull-time job, as a merchandise buyer and product developer, ended four years ago when his employer went out of business. That position paid $90,000, and his rsum lists stints at companies like American Express, Disney and USA Networks. Since being laid off, though, he has worked a series of part-time, low-wage, temporary positions, including selling shoesat Lord & Taylor and making sales calls for a limo company.[J] The last few years have taken a toll not only on his family's finances, but also on his feelings of self-worth. "You just get sad," Mr. Agati said. "I see people getting upin the morning, going out to their careers and going home. I just wish I was doing that. Some people don't like their jobs, or they have problems with their jobs, but at least they're working. I just wish I was in their shoes." He said he cannot afford to go back to school, as many younger people without jobs have done. Even if he could afford it, economists say it is unclear whether older workers like him benefit much from more education.[K] "It just doesn't make sense to offer retraining for people 55 and older," said Daniel Hamermesh, an economics professor at the University of Texas in Austin. "Discrimination by age, long-term unemployment, the fact that they're now at the end of the hiring queue, the lack of time horizon just does not make it sensible to invest in them."[L] Many displaced older workers are taking this message to heart and leaving the labor force entirely. The share of older people applying for Social Security early spiked during the recession as people sought whatever income they could find. The penalty they will pay is permanent, as retirees who take benefits at age 62 will receive 30 percent less in each month's check for the rest of their lives than they would if they had waited until full retirement age (66 for those born after 1942).Those not yet eligible for Social Security are increasingly applying for another, comparable kind of income support that often goes to people who expect never to work again: disability benefits. More than one in eight people in their late 50s is now on some form of federal disability insurance program, according to Mark Duggan, chairman of the department of business economics and public policy at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. The very oldest Americans, of course, were battered by some of the same ill winds that tormented those now nearing retirement, but at least the most senior were cushioned by a more readily available social safety net. More important, in a statistical twist, they may have actually benefited from the financial crisis in the most fundamental way: prolonged lives.Death rates for people over 65 have historically fallen during recessions, according to a November 2020 study by economists at the University of California, Davis. Why? The researchers argue that weak job markets push more workersinto accepting relatively undesirable work at nursing homes, leading to better care for residents.。

I wanna know why you think The Simpsons were so successful?Ken: They have a kind of humor that funny to people of all ages. It's funny to people from alldifferent walks of life. So I guess it appeals to the masses more than any other show.Wendi: But how do they do that? How do you make something appealing to 8-year olds and fifty-year olds?Ken: Yeah. It's difficult. Like I haven't really thought about it all that much but like they have jokes that only old people would get and they have the fart jokes that, you know, children love at the same time, so. Yeah. So I guess that's what, yeah. It's a phenomenom.Wendi: It is crazy. The thing that I think is wild about that show, is that just the colors even. Do you know what I mean? It's so basic. I think one of the really funny things about the Simpsons are like the shapes of the people and stuff, like the way like that guy has the big kind of beak, like thebartender guy.Ken: Oh, yeah, Moe.Wendi: He has like a beak. He almost looks like a duck in a way. And it's like you know. Marges hair and then like Homer's crazy beer belly. Yeah.Wendi: It's just all brilliant.关于电视节目的英语对话三Fred: I like TV shows are exciting.Jun: I like TV shows are educational.Fred: How about you,Kay?Kay: I like shows which are very romantic.Fred: I wish there a cowboy movie on tonight.Jun: You do? You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.范文:It is universally acknowledged that the best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today. To put in another word, it is wise for us to seize the moment and spare no efforts to finish the current task.On the one hand, actions play a key role in the course of achieving goals. As a consequence, it is imperative that we should take prompt actions to accomplish a future aim. On the other hand, we are supposed to attach due importance to the efficiency, which exerts a critical impact on personal growth and future career. As a result, improving the efficiency is what we cannot neglect. In a word, effective and efficient actions must be taken by every individual for the sake of achieving great dreams. If we can make progress little by little, the dream will come true in the near future.【六级听力Listening】PartⅡListening Comprehension(25minutes)Section ADirections: In this section, you will hear two long conversations. At the end of each conversation, you will hear some questions. Both the conversation and the questions will be spoken only once. After you hear a question, you must choose the best answer from the four choices marked A), B), C) and D). Then mark the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet 1with a single line through the centre.Conversation OneM: Tonight, we have a very special guest (1) Mrs. Anna Sanchez is a three time Olympic champion and author of the new book To the Edge Mrs. Sanchez, thank you for joining us.W: Thank you for having me. M: Let’s start with your book. What does the title To the Edge mean? What are you referring to?W: (2) The book is about how science and technology has helped push humans to the edge of their physical abilities. I argue that in the past 20 years, we have had the best athletes the world has ever seen.M: But is this a fair comparison? How do you know how, say, a football player from 50 years ago would compare to one today?W: Well, you are right. That comparison would be perhaps impossible to make. But the point is more about our knowledge today of human biochemistry, nutrition, and mechanics. (3) I believe that while our bodies have not changed in thousands of years. What has changed is the scientific knowledge. This has allowed athletes to push the limits of what was previously thought possible.M: That’s interesting. Please tell us more about these perceived limits.W: The world is seen sports records being broken that could only be broken with the aid of technology. Whether this be the speed of a tennis serve or the fastest time in a hundred meter dash or 200 meter swimming race.M: (4) Is there any concern that technology is giving some athletes an unfair advantage over others?W: That is an interesting question. And one that has to be considered very carefully. Skis, for example, went from being made of wood to a metal alloy which allows for better control and faster speed. There is no stopping technological progress. But, as I said, each situation should be considered carefully on a case by case basis.Question 1: What do we learn about Anna Sanchez?Question 2: What is the woman’s book mainly about?Question 3: What has changed in the past thousands of years?Question 4: What is the man’s concern about the use of technology in sports competitions?Conversation TwoW: I’ve worked in international trade all my life. My father did so to be for me. So 1 guess you could say it runs in the family.M: What products have you worked with?W: All sorts, really. I’ve imported textiles, machinery, toys, solar panels, all kinds of things over the years. Trends and demand come and go. (5) So one needs to be very flexible to succeed in this industry.M: I see what goods are you trading now?W: I now import furniture from China into Italy and foods from Italy into China.(6)I even use the same container. It’s a very efficient way of conducting trade.M: The same container. You mean you own a 40 foot cargo container?W: Yeah, that’s right. (7)I have a warehouse in Genoa over Italy and another in Shanghai. I source mid century modern furniture from different factories in China. It’s very good value for money. I collect it all in my warehouse and then dispatchit lo my other warehouse in Italy. Over there I do the same, but with Italian foods instead of furniture, things like pasta, cheese, wine, chocolates. And I send all that to my warehouse in China in the same freight container I use for the furniture. M: So I presume you sell both lines of products wholesale in each respective country.W: Of course. I possess a network of clients and partners in both countries. That’s the main benefit of having done this for so long. I’ve made great business contacts over time.M: How many times do you ship?W: 1 did 12 shipments last year, 18 this year, and I hope to grow to around 25 next year. That’s both ways there and back again. Demand for authentic Italian food in China is growing rapidly. And similarly, sales of affordable, yet stylish wooden furniture are also increasing in Italy. (8)Furniture is marginally more profitable, mostly because it enjoys lower customs duties.Question 5: What does the woman think is required to be successful in international trade?Question 6: What does the woman say is special about her way of doing trade? Question 7: What does the woman have in both Italy and China?Question 8: What does the woman say makes furniture marginally more profitable?Section BDirections: In this section, you will hear two passages. At the end of each passage, you will hear some questions. Both the passage and the questions will be spoken only once. After you hear a question, you must choose the best answer from the four choices marked A), B), C) and D). Then mark the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet 1 with a single line through the center.Passage OneToo many people view their jobs as a day prison, which they are paroled every Friday, says Joel Goodman, founder of the humor project, a humor consulting group in Saratoga spring, New York. (9) Humor unlocks the office prison because it lets adults bring. Some of their childlike spirit to the job, according to Howard Pollio, professor of psychology at the university of Tennessee Knoxville. And office with humor breaks is an office with satisfied and productive employees. (10) Polio conducted a study that proved humor can help workers Excel at routine production tasks. Employees perform better when they have fun. In large corporations with a hierarchy of power, there is often no outlet for stress. Every company needs underground ways of poking fun at the organization, says Lynnand Mark, a speaker on workplace humor for saint Mary’s health center in saint Louis.Kodak Rochester, New York branch, discovered a way for its 20000 employees to uncork their bottled up resentments. There 1000 square foot humor room features a toy store. Among the rooms, many stress reducing gadgets, the main attraction is a boss doll with detachable arms and legs. (11) Employees can take the doll apart as long a they put its arms and legs buck in place.Sandy Cohan, owner of a graphic print production business, created the quote board to document the bizarre phrases people say when under strict deadlines, when you’re on distress, you say stupid things, says Cohen. Now we just look at each other and say that’s one for the quote board.Questions9 to 11 are based on the passage you have just heard.Question 9. What does the passage say about humor in the workplace? Question 10. What does the study by Howard Polio show?Question 11. What can codex employees do in the humor room?Passage Two(12)Public interest was aroused by the latest discovery of a changed gene in obese mice. The news was made known by Rockefeller university geneticist JeffreyFriedman. The researchers believe this gene influences development of a hormone that tells organism how fat or full it is (13) Those with he changed gene may not sense when they have eaten enough or if they have sufficient fatty tissue. and thus can’t tell when to stop eating. The researchers also reported finding a gene nearly identical to the mouse obesity gene in humans. The operation of this gene in humans has not yet been demonstrated, however. (14)Still professionals like university of Vermont psychologist Eyster Ross Bloom reacted enthusiastically. This research indicates that people really are born with a tendency to have a certain weight, just as they are to have a particular skin color or height. Actually, behavioral geneticists believe that less than half of the total weight variation is programmed in the genes, while height is almost entirely genetically determined. Whatever role genes play Americans are getting fatter.A survey by the center for disease control found that obesity has increased greatly over the last 10 years. (15)Such rapid change underlines the role of environmental factors like the abundance of rich foods in Americans overeating. The center for disease control has also found that teens are far less physically active than they were even a decade ago. Excepting that weight is predetermined, can relieve guilt for overweight people. But people’s belief that they cannot control their weight can itself contribute t0 obesity.Questions 12 to 15 are based on the passage you have just heard.Question 12. What does the speaker say has aroused public interest?Question 13. What do we learn about the changed gene?Question 14. What does university of Vermont psychologist Eyster Ross Bloom say?Question 15. What accounts for Americans obesity according to a survey by the center for disease control?Section CDirections: In this section, you will hear three recordings of lectures or talks followed by three or four questions. The recordings will be played only once. After you hear a question, you must choose the best answer from the four choices marked A), B), C) and D). Then mark the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet 1 with a single line through the center.Recording OneQualities of a relationship such as openness, compassion and mental stimulation, or of concern to most of us regardless of sex. But judging from the questionnaire response, they are more important to women than to men. Asked to consider the ingredients of close friendship, women rated these qualities above all others.(16) Men assigned a lower priority to them in favor of similarity and interest, Selected by 77% of men and responsiveness in a crisis, chosen by 61% of male respondents, mental stimulation ranked 3rd in popularity by men as well as women was the only area of overlap. Among men, only 28% named openness as an important quality.Caring was picked by just 23%. (17) It is evident by their selections that when women speak of close friendships. they are referring to emotional factors. While men emphasized the pleasure they find in a friend’s company, that is, when a man speaks of a friend, he is likely to be talking about someone he does things with, a teammate, a fellow hobbyist, a drinking buddy. These activities are the fabric of the friendship. It is a doing relationships in which similarity in interests is the key bond. This factor was a consideration of less than 11% of women. Women opt for a warm emotional atmosphere where communication flows freely. Activity is mere background.Lastly, men, as we have seen, have serious questions about each other’s loyalty. Perhaps this is why they placed such strong emphasis on responsiveness in a crisis. Someone I can call on for help. Women, as their testimonies indicate, are generally more secure with each other and consequently are more likely to treat this issue lightly. In follow up interviews, this was confirmed numerous times. As woman after woman indicated that being there when needed was taken for granted. (18) As for the hazards of friendship. more than a few relationshipshave been shattered because of cutthroat competition and feelings of betrayal. This applies t both men and women, but unequally in comparison, nearly twice as many men complained about these issues as women. Further, while competition and betrayal are the main thorns to female friendship: men are plagued in almost equal amounts by two additional issues lack of frankness and a fear of appearing unmanly. Obviously, for a man, a good friendship is hard to find.Question 16: What quality do men value most concerning friendship according to a questionnaire response?Question 17: What do women refer to when speaking of close friendships? Question 18: What may threaten a friendship for both men and women? Recording Two(19) The partial skeletons of more than 20 dinosaurs and scattered bones of about 300 more have been discovered in Utah and Colorado at what is now the Dinosaur National Monument. Many of the best specimens may be seen today at museums of natural history in the larger cities of the United States, and Canada. This dinosaur pit is the largest and best preserved deposit of dinosaurs known today.(20) Many people get the idea from the mass of bones in the pit wall that some disaster, such as volcanic explosion or a sudden flood, killed a whole herd of dinosaurs in this area. This could have happened, but it probably did not.The main reasons for thinking otherwise, other scattered bones and the thickness of the deposit in other deposits where the animals were thought to have died together, the skeletons were usually complete and often all the bones were in their proper places. Rounded pieces of fossil bone have been found here. These fragments got their smooth, round shape by rolling along the stream bottom. In a mass killing, the bones would have been left on the stream or lake bottom together at the same level. But in this deposit, the bones occur throughout a zone of sandstone about 12 feet thick. The mixture of swamp dwellers and dry land types also seems to indicate that the deposit is a mixture from different places. The pit area is a large dinosaur graveyard-not a place where they died. (21) Most of the remains probably floated down eastward flowing river until they were left on a shallow sandbar. Some of them may have come from faraway dry land areas to the west. Perhaps they drowned trying to cross a small stream, all washed away during floods. Some of the swamp dwellers may have got stuck in the very sandbar that became their grave. Others may have floated for miles before being stranded.Even today, similar events take place: When floods come in the spring, sheep, cattle, and deer are often trapped by rising waters and often drown. Their dead bodies float downstream until the flood recedes, and leaves them stranded on a bar or shore where they lie, half buried in the sand until they decay, Early travelerson the Missouri River reported that shores and bars often lined with the decaying bodies of buffalo that had died during spring floods.Question 19: Where can many of the best dinosaur specimens be found in North America?Question 20: What occurs to many people when they see the massive bones in the pit wall?Question 21: What does the speaker suggest about the large number of dinosaur bones found in the pit?Recording ThreeI would like particularly to talk about the need to develop a new style of aging in our own society. (22)Young people in this country have been accused of not caring for their parents the way they would have in the old country. And this is true. (23) But i is also true that old people have been influenced by an American ideal of independence and autonomy. So we live alone, perhaps on the verge of starvation, in time without fiends. But we arc independent. This standard American style has been forced on every ethnic group. Although there are many groups for whom the ideal is not practical, it is a poor ideal and pursuing it does a great deal of harm. This ideal of independence also contains a tremendous amount of unselfishness. In talking to today ’s young mothers, I have asked them what kind of grandmothers they think they are going to be. I hear devoted loving mothers say that when they are through raising their children, they have no intention of becoming grandmothers. (24) They are astonished to hear that in most of the world throughout most of its history, families have been three or four generation-families Jiving under the same roof. We have over-emphasized the small family uni—father, mother, small children. We think it is wonderful if grandma and grandpa, if they’re still alive, can live alone. We have reached the point where we think the only thing we can do for our children is to stay out of their way. The only thing we can do for our daughter in law is to see as little of her as possible. (25) Old people’s nursing homes. even the best one. are filled with older people who believe the only thing they can do for their children is to look cheerful when they come to visit So in the end. older people have to devote all their energies to not being a burden. We are beginning to see what a tremendous price we’ve paid for our emphasis on independence and autonomy. We’ve isolated old people and we’ve cut off the children from their grandparents. One of the reasons we have as bad a generation gap today as we do is that grandparents have stepped out. Young people are being deprived of the thing they need most: perspective to know why their parents behave so peculiarly and why their grandparents say the things they do.Question 22: What have young Americans been accused of?Question 23: What does the speaker say about old people in the United States? 2020年11月英语四级口语考试真题及参考答案
2020年11月英语四级口语考试真题及参考答案1. Are you satisfied with your present accommodations? Give your reasons. What kind of accommodations would you like to have? From my point view, I’m quite satisfied with our accommodation. My dormitory room faces south and has a lot of sunshine in fine weather. It also has a very good view of the garden in front of the building and the mountains in the distance. It makes me feel good when I look the lovely grass, flowers and trees in the garden. The color of the mountains changes with different seasons and in different weather. I really enjoy watching the view from my room. But there are some aspects need to be improved. Above all, our dormitory is not big enough. When everybody is in the room, there simply is not enough space for us to move around. And with six people in it, there isn’t much privacy for anyone. We even don’t have a washroom in it .So it’s not convenient for us, especially in winter and summer. And the water and electricity supply are usually cut off for some unclear reasons. Everyday we have to go to bed before halfpast ten. That’ too early! S o we are restricted to do what we need to do after ten thirty. In a word, our canteens are quite good. First of all, the food is quite cheap and the services meet most of our needs. But some canteens are sosmall that have to wait in line to get our food.In my opinion, a good student apartment should have a relatively large living room and three or four small single bedrooms. This design will provide enough space for meetings and gatherings while at the same time give each student hisor her own room. It should have a washroom and we should have water and electricity supply all day long. And we also canget our food without waiting in line.In my university, students have different types of accommodation depending on their status. Undergraduate students generally share dormitory rooms six to a room, and master’s stu dents four to a room. New apartment houses are also available to students who pay an additional rent.2. What job do you think is the best for you after you graduate?I think the best job for me is to be a teacher after graduation. When I was a child, I had dreamed to be a high school teacher. Now I can come to Xinyang Normal Universityto receive further education and I major in Study of History. It looks like that my dream will come true in the near future. As a teacher, I can give what I have learnt to my students, who will make contributions to our society.Thinking about it, I will be very proud of being a teacher. And, what’s more, I can become an actor just on the small platform in the front of the classroom, which will make mylife much colorful. And then, what mostly makes me choose to be a teacher is that I can share some new ideas with the young people, and by this way I will be young forever in my mind.3. What is your most important consideration when looking for a job?Actually, many factors contribute to job satisfaction, such as a high salary, good promotion prospects, pleasant and friendly working atmosphere, suitability for one’s professional talents, and personal interests etc. For many people, money or good promotion prospects may be their most important consideration when looking a job; but as for me, what is important is to do something that I enjoy. I hear stories all the time about people who change their jobs because they realize that they don’t like them after they have starte d. If you don’t like what you’re doing, you are going to be miserable. You cann’t make the best use of your talents and you will get nowhere in your work. So when choosing a job, I think, we’d better make sure that we know where our interest lies, only by doing so, can we do very well in our work and enjoy our work most.。

TV 电视Todd: Marika lets talk about television.Marika: OK. Todd:Do you like to watch a lot of TV?Marika: Yeah, I watch a lot of TV.Todd: Now you've been in Japan for awhile. Do you watch TV in English or in Japanese?Marika: I watch TV in Japanese, but if it's on in English I will watch it in English. Yeah, I'm the same way. Um, how good is your comprehension? How much can you understand? If it's a drama I can understand most of what's happening, and definitely the story, but if it's a talk show and there's young people on and they're speaking fast, with a lot of slang, I don't really understand a lot of what they're saying, although I might know what topic they're discussing, I won't know what exactly their stand is.Todd: Do you think that TV is bad for people?Marika: Yeah, I think that TV is bad for people. It's really bad.Todd: Why?Marika: Because instead of reading a book or doing something outside, or doing something productive you just sit in front of a TV and absorb bad information or things that don't really help you learn anything probably, although Japanese television I think does have a lot of good documentaries and a lot of informative television programs.第 1 页。

2020年大学英语六级考试口语练习(8):电视机
Television
Television-----the most pervasive and persuasive of modern technologies, marked by rapid change and growth-is moving into a new era, an era of extraordinary sophistication and versatility, which promises to reshape our lives and our world. It is an electronic revolution of sorts, made possible by the marriage of television and computer technologies.
The word "television", derived from its Greek (tele:distant) and Latin (visio: sight) roots, can literally be interpreted as sight from a distance. Very simply put, it works in this way: through a sophisticated system of electronics, television provides the capability of converting an image (focused on a special photoconductive plate within a camera) into electronic impulses, which can be sent through a wire or cable. These impulses, when fed into a receiver (television set), can then be electronically reconstituted into that same image.
Television is more than just an electronic system, however. It is a means of expression, as well as a vehicle
for communication, and as such becomes a powerful tool for reaching other human beings.
The field of television can be divided into two categories determined by its means of transmission. First, there is broadcast television, which reaches the masses through broad-based airwave transmission of television signals. Second, there is nonbroadcast television, which
provides for the needs of individuals or specific interest groups through controlled transmission techniques.
Traditionally, television has been a medium of the masses. We are most familiar with broadcast television because it has been with us for about thirty-seven years in a form similar
to what exists today. During those years, it has been controlled, for the most part, by the broadcast networks, ABC, NBC, and CBS, who have been the major purveyors of news, information, and entertainment. These giants of broadcasting have actually shaped not only television but our perception
of it as well. We have come to look upon the picture tube as
a source of entertainment, placing our role in this dynamic medium as the passive viewer。
